Rate this book
"Song of Fire and Ruin" is a fantasy novel by A.M. Rohleder, containing mature themes. It follows Captain Cinder Flame and her team of soldiers as they venture into The Barrens to investigate strange occurrences and missing farmers. The Barrens is a dangerous area inhabited by creatures with magic abilities, including wolves and a massive snake.

Cinder's team includes Adrian, Alison, Chris, Amber, and Jake, with whom Cinder shares a complex history. They encounter an alpha wolf, a giant snake, and other mysterious creatures. There are also hints of a larger conflict involving magic wielders and past events. The story also introduces Drew, the alpha of a wolf pack living in The Barrens, who is wary of humans and magic. Additionally, a mysterious figure, Zovera, is introduced, with wings and dark magic, who seems to be observing and intervening in the events.

Have you ever read a book and thought, I have no idea who the “hero’s” are? Well, this is one of those books. In the best way possible, you have to make your own decisions. You’ll think “this person is definitely the bad guy” and 3 chapters later be like wait, are they the “good guy?” You’ll be questioning the line between right and wrong. Wondering who is in the right here. Struggling to come to terms with the reality of war and what happens. You’ll be hooked early and fascinated throughout.
