Is That Love Or Infatuation by Megha Agarwal is a story about love, ambition, and everything in between. Aarohi Sharma is a young law graduate with big dreams and a steady boyfriend. Everything seems to be in place until she joins a top corporate firm, Legal Minds, and meets Vaibhav Oberoi. That’s where things begin to shift.
This book is about how confusing it can be when your mind and heart are in two different places. Aarohi’s journey felt real. She’s not perfect, and that’s what made it more relatable. The story shows how tough it is to let go of something that feels safe, even if it’s no longer right for you. It talks about emotional conflict in a very quiet, personal way.
I liked that the author didn’t make things dramatic for the sake of it. The story is simple but holds a lot of weight. The writing style is clean and easy to read. The dialogues, however, could have been marked more clearly with better punctuation.
If you enjoy character-driven stories with emotional depth and real-life choices, you’ll enjoy this one.
“Sometimes courage of choosing yourself, your need may not be a sign of selfishness even though it may portray yourself as a bad person. At times we need to choose ourselves even though the outcome will be a disaster , but it may give you peace and strength as it was done for you by yourself , which is correct to your mind, but may be wrong and foolish to others. Don’t hover over what is left even if it was our mistake to let it go. Some situations in life can’t be judged .
We people make mistakes in making decisions where we find with our logical thinking and emotional thinking, we will hold up in a huge loss if we are not ready to sort out the difference between which is permanent.
People's attachments are not always permanent , but you, yourself is permanent, take control of yourself so even a huge storm will feel light after it passes, but not control over you then you may feel lost in all means.” – To myself and people out trying to stand independent.
BLURB:
AAROHI SHARMA achieves her dream to work in Mumbai’s top corporate firm. Her ambition pulls her in, and she gives the best every time, when these are recognized by the company’s head Mr. Vibhav Oberoi. It first felt just as her work had been recognized but later she comes to realize there was something a strong , silent connection has sparked between him and her, but in the middle of this her feelings over her best friend and loyal boyfriend Rohan slowly dripped down . So the story begins whether Aarohi was left in deep confusion where it was love that she left behind … or just the illusion of it?
It’s a heartfelt, raw, and honest story about first loves, failed expectations, and the quiet courage it takes to choose yourself even when it means breaking your own heart.
MY THOUGHTS:
First of all, saying the author has written a well engaging story, which you will trigger to read until the end, her writing style and the slow burn, plot development and character placing is really neat and whole.
Coming to the FMC I loved her courage, her braveness, independent nature, her work ethics and dedication and even though a storm has just hit, she will be dammmnnn... Calm and compose while she presents her outside, where people see her not for her beauty or attraction for her confidence all.
Vibhav Oberoi …guys note down, Oberoi’s are always stunning, hot, handsome, and dangerous when written by our female authors. I loved thoroughly the chemistry and the silent conversation between Aarohi and him. She made the conversation just hit deep through her writing, no dramatics, no cringes, but pure silence where their eyes spoke most of the time. Not only Aarohi but even the readers will fall for him, she made sure to make the readers: When you get attached to a fictional character, we authors will give some hit bonus to come to reality. I loved her poetry which is beautiful and deep.
I felt calmness with the unspoken words of Aarohi and Vibhav, I cried and felt guilt as she felt it, I was angry when she was calm and cried along with her. It was really touching , and I loved Rashi, her flatmate who was with her , whenever she needed it.
If you still remember your past don’t search for the future, if you need a future please leave the past behind and forget it. Sometimes we will not know what love is and what infatuations are. Because we don’t speak out about what we need the most when we are jumping into shits. Our mind cheats us.
The story may have many debates regarding the FMC decisions and expectations and all have different opinions to write another story for them or for Aarohi. But sometimes stories are meant to be like this to encourage us to know ourselves, even though any bad decisions you may make may hit you, tear you, but you should have the courage to choose yourself whatever the thing be.
People out there don’t lose yourself, you yourself are permanent than any temporary attachments. No one understands you, only you can shape your life. Create a path yourself and accept whoever stands in , but not to get attached.
First Love has been immortalized by books and movies alike. It's been given the epithets of eternal and undying, passionate and to be remembered for all times. But is it also mature and dependable? Is there some 'head' in the 'heart' of first love? And what if you comes upon a solid, dependable relationship even when you are already committed to someone else? Would you explore? Or would you restrain your emotions? Would you choose between the mess of heartbreak and joy of having an understanding partner or will you box yourself with someone you already know? These are some pertinent questions that author raises in her intense emotional drama that comes across as a passionate love triangle. And who doesn't love love triangles, right?
The book starts with the last day of law school. While Rohan is a charmer with loud opinions, Aarohi is a brainiac who has her life sorted. We have a lover's tiff right in the beginning, with Aarohi accusing Rohan of not being serious about his career. She is moving to Mumbai and there is going to be a distance of hundreds of miles in between. When she is gone, Rohan laments. He should have joined LegalMinds so he could remain close to her. But it's too late now. Soon Aarohi is going to be close to someone else.
Vaibhav Oberoi runs the legal firm Aarohi has joined. He is exact opposite to Rohan, as chalk is to cheese. About him the author writes: "Though his reputation for being a tough negotiator and a meticulous strategist preceded him, those who worked closely with Vaibhav knew there was more to him than just sharp intellect. He possessed a natural charm, an understated wit, and a deep appreciation for mentorship - qualities that made young lawyers aspire to earn his respect."
Aarohi is impressed with the empire he has created and his personality. Is she feeling something more? The author writes: "Yet as she stepped into the elevator and looked down at the folder in her hands, she couldn't deny it - something had shifted. It wasn't just her career that had begun today. Something more subtle, more complicated, had just entered the picture."
What will Aarohi choose? Her past or her future? Is she just smitten with Vaibhav or is it something deeper? And what about Rohan? Won't he fight for his love? Well, I am not going to tell you everything. Read the book to find out more.
There is something about love stories that attract readers of all age and ages. And stories ABOUT love, even more so. Love blazes through this story, sometimes whispering sometimes screaming through words. The writer, through her characters, talks about love, the longing it brings, the pain of separation, the effervescent joy of discovering the desires of your own heart. And it's a joy to embark on this journey with these characters.
Agrawal leaves splashes of poignace that are balanced. She doesn't drown you in sadness, nor does she sits you upon a fountain of joy. Her story is like life. Sweetness but with a little dash of lemon. Had a great time reading it. Strongly recommended.
In a world where love is often dressed up in familiar comforts and mistaken assurances, "Is That Love or Infatuation?" dares to peel back the layers of romantic illusions and asks the one question most of us are too afraid to face: What if the love we clung to was never truly love at all?
✍️This emotionally rich and beautifully introspective novel follows Aarohi Sharma, a young woman with her life seemingly sorted—an impressive law degree, a devoted boyfriend from her college days, and a dream job within reach. But as the real world beckons with its shimmering promises and soul-testing challenges, the tightly woven threads of Aarohi’s life begin to fray. What unravels is not just a story of heartbreak, but a deeply personal journey through ambition, emotional awakening, and the quiet torment of choosing between what’s safe and what’s real. From the moment Aarohi steps into the high-pressure world of Legal Minds, Mumbai’s elite corporate law firm, we sense the subtle shift in her world. Here, the air hums with ambition, the pace never slows, and people wear confidence like armor. Amidst this new reality enters Vaibhav Oberoi—brilliant, composed, and alarmingly magnetic. He isn’t the type Aarohi ever saw herself falling for. But attraction, in its truest form, is rarely logical. This book is more than a romance novel—it is a mirror held up to the reader’s own emotional history. It invites us to reflect on the relationships we’ve clung to, the feelings we’ve dismissed, and the identities we’ve shaped around others. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most profound kind of love is the one we find within ourselves after everything else falls apart. If you’ve ever questioned your past relationships, wondered whether you stayed for the right reasons, or feared breaking someone’s heart because you were breaking your own, this book will resonate deeply.
In Megha Agrawal’s Is That Love or Infatuation?, we’re introduced to Aarohi Sharma—an ambitious and focused individual who’s slowly coming apart at the seams. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill romance; it’s a softer, sadder, and more intelligent exploration of emotions, all wrapped up in the stress of career pressures and the heart-wrenching challenge of misreading feelings.
Agrawal paints Aarohi’s world with a gentle touch: she has a seemingly perfect boyfriend, a promising career in law, and a clear path ahead. But then Vaibhav steps into the picture—irresistibly charming, with a mix of sharp wit and shadowy allure. What starts as innocent admiration quickly spirals into something wild and untamed. Aarohi doesn’t just fall in love; she drifts, grappling with doubts and dancing between two worlds: the comfort of what she knows and the chaos that feels oddly genuine.
This story reveals that love isn’t always loud; it often hides in the silences, the questions, and the near-misses. The novel gently nudges the reader, asking: When does loyalty tip into denial? When does infatuation evolve beyond its label?
Agrawal writes with the tenderness of a heart laid bare—fragile yet impactful. The emotional rollercoaster is subtle but intense, making you feel every stumble and revelation Aarohi experiences. And that ending? It’s bittersweet, like savoring coffee steeped in nostalgia.
This isn’t merely a tale of choosing between two people; it’s about opting for clarity over confusion, and perhaps the toughest choice of all—yourself.
Ever since I brought this book, I was curious to explore the twisted journey of Aarohi's life. "Is That Love or Infatuation?" is an emotional and engaging story about a young woman named Aarohi Sharma, who dreams to work at a top corporate form based in Mumbai and seems to have everything at the beginning as the story starts.. But as she begins her new career at LegalMinds, her life starts to change in ways she never expected. Aarohi meets Vaibhav Oberoi, a man who challenges her ideas about love, ambition, and the future she thought she wanted. The way the author shows Aarohi’s confusion, guilt, and growth feels very real and relatable.
I liked how the story didn't rush the emotions and gave space to understand Aarohi’s choices, even when they were difficult. The language used is rich and lucid, easy for the readers to understand. Megha Agrawal’s writing is simple yet powerful. I absolutely loved how the author has mentioned every description in detail without making the book lengthy.. The combination of engaging story telling, amazing characters, well crafted chapters, writing style and attention to details creates an immersive reading experience. Highly Recommended.

Aarohi's journey, torn between Rohan's passionate charm and Vaibhav's steady mentorship, is a poignant reflection on love's many facets – and it's a story that will resonate with anyone who's ever loved.
The author's writing is evocative, conveying the ache of longing and the thrill of new connections with such sensitivity. The characters are multidimensional, with their own strengths and vulnerabilities, making their emotional journeys feel authentic and relatable.
What makes this book truly special is its nuanced portrayal of love. It's not just about romance; it's about growth, pain, and self-discovery. Agrawal's storytelling is both tender and thought-provoking, leaving you thinking about the nature of love and relationships long after you finish reading.
If you're looking for a book that will touch your heart and make you reflect on your own relationships, this is it. With its thought-provoking themes and relatable characters, this book is a significant read for anyone interested in character-driven fiction and personal growth.
"Is That Love or Infatuation?" absolutely blew me away. The central question itself, the struggle to tell the difference, is something I've grappled with, and the way it's explored in the book is phenomenal. Aarohi's character is so real; I felt like I was right there with her, navigating the same confusing feelings and difficult choices. The way the story contrasted her life with the potential for something more with Vaibhav was just brilliant.
The emotional depth is what truly sets this book apart. It's not just a romance; it's a journey of self-discovery, dealing with expectations and finding the courage to choose your own path. I was completely invested in Aarohi's internal conflicts and the pressures she faced. The writing is so raw and honest; it made me feel everything right along with her.
I was left completely captivated by "Is That Love or Infatuation?". It's a must-read. The ending left me thinking about it long after I finished the last page. It's a truly unforgettable story about love, choices, and finding your way.
So this book is all about love, ambition, figuring yourself out, and having the guts to choose you. The story follows Aarohi Sharma who moves to Mumbai for her law firm job. She’s in this long relationship with Rohan who's super loyal, always there, but things get complicated when she meets her boss, Vaibhav Oberoi. He’s literally everything Rohan is not. And that’s when she starts getting confused… like is this admiration or actual love? Will she choose her past with Rohan or her future with Vaibhav? And wait, will Rohan even let her go that easily? You’ll have to read to know hehe.
I think what I loved the most is how relatable it feels, especially for people in their 20s. Like you know, when you’re juggling career choices, relationships, and suddenly your feelings shift and you don’t even know why. And the author doesn’t make it seem like one person is “bad” or “wrong” just because things change. It’s just… life. Honestly, it makes you think about how easy it is to get lost between your job, your ambition, and your relationships and forget who you are in the middle of it all. That hit me hard. By the end, I definitely felt like I learned something from Aarohi’s and Rohan’s story. It’s not just a romance, it’s like a mirror for anyone figuring out their own life choices. And the whole time I kept asking myself, what would I do if I were in her place?
When love feels safe, but something else feels right... 👀
Aarohi Sharma had life all sorted, sweet boyfriend, law career in the making, and big dreams in Mumbai. But then came Legal Minds… and Vaibhav Oberoi. Tall, intense, and the kind of guy who makes you question everything, even the stable relationship you swore was “forever.”
As Aarohi’s world flips, so does her heart. Megha Agrawal does a great job showing how confusing it gets when comfort starts to feel like a trap and “just a crush” starts looking a lot like something more. Been there, felt that.
The story doesn’t rush. It slowly builds, peeling back what love really means, and what it takes to let go of someone you’ve outgrown, even if they never did anything “wrong.” It’s that soft heartbreak we don’t talk about enough.
If you’ve ever had that moment of “wait, was that even love?” this book will hit home. It’s honest, emotional, and super relatable for anyone who’s ever chosen themselves over settling.
This book caught me completely off guard in the best way possible. I didn’t think I’d see so much of myself in a young lawyer’s story, especially when law has nothing to do with my life. But somehow, Aarohi’s journey felt personal, real, and a little too close to home.
At its core, this isn’t just a love story it’s about figuring out who you are, holding on to your dreams, and learning to stay true to yourself even when life gets messy. The author’s writing flows so effortlessly that you end up feeling every emotion along with the characters.
Aarohi’s life seems perfectly planned career sorted, love life steady until Vivek shows up and everything flips upside down. What follows is a rollercoaster of choices, heartbreak, and rediscovery.
If you’re a woman in your mid-twenties trying to balance independence, love, and identity, this book will hit all the right notes.
