In this spectacular one-hundred-page companion novella to the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series, learn how Loric hacker Lexa became the shadowy figure known as GUARD.
A sequel to I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Navigator, this novella picks up with Lexa shortly after the Mogadorians raided her hideout and murdered her friend. Determined to get her revenge but knowing she can't take the Mogs head on, Lexa goes in search of a weapon that just might help her do some real damage: the spaceship the Garde flew to Earth. The only problem is it's under lock and key at a highly guarded base in Dulce, New Mexico.
Lexa's quest to retrieve the ship and track down the Garde has her cross paths with an ally of Pittacus Lore, come under fire from both the FBI and the Mogs, and team up with a headstrong teenager from Paradise, Ohio, by the name of Mark James. To get her secret weapon, Lexa will do whatever it takes. But as the Mogadorians begin their invasion, will it be enough to help save the Garde—and the world?
Lexa, aka GUARD, has been working behind the scenes for years, doing her best to protect the Garde and gathering information that would damage the Mogadorians and show the people of Earth what's really happening.
The Mog invasion has begun and it's finally time for Lexa and Mark, who proved to be surprisingly helpful, to join the Garde in the next book of the series, The Fate of Ten.
As always I enjoyed this latest I Am Number Four novella. This time, we learn more about Guard's experiences since landing on Earth. She has been busy trying to cover the Gardes' tracks and gathering intel on the Mogs and their ship. She has also been trying to get the word out in the ET-believing community about the presence of evildoers on their planet - through which she made contact with Mark James. She is determined to help the Garde in any way she can and avenge her loved ones' deaths. Can't wait until The Fate of Ten!
There is nothing particularly wrong with any of these novellas. I thought they were fun little side stories for a series I was enjoying at the beginning, but due to the large amount of them I’m just getting a little annoyed. There is just enough extra info I feel I should read them but their stories are not as strong as the main books.
Conflicted on how to rate this. Love the world of this series, but it is becoming too commercialized. Meaning it was a straightforward story that provided only filler information that wasn't in previous books. It just rehashed scenes already seen in other books and filled in a few blank spots in Lexa's timeline. The writing was very medicore. The one scene where she gets the sh** was what I wanted to read, but it was superficially glossed over and poorly written. Left a bad aftertaste of what we've known for awhile, since the author split this author is just exploiting commercialism to make money on mediocre books that are set in past giving only filler information. The one scene that would have made this book worth buying (NOT for $3.99) was badly written and should have been longer. This book only reminds you of the series so ou want to read the next book Fate of Ten now. It does not tell an entertaining story that furthers the plot. 3.5/5 stars
The first part of this book is actually interesting because it let us see how Lexa became guard and how she handled moving around and tried to help the other Loric stay anonymous. On the other end when she starts talking with Mark, this becomes a retail of Mark's story from Lexa's point of view, it isn't detailed and it doesn't give much new information, except on how she used him, or any new inside. I guess that means that we have come full circle.
I also caught an inconsistency when Sarah says that Crayton died in Spain, as far as I recall, he died in India.

This book was okay, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I would have read this before The Fate of Ten. All of this was exactly what happened in that book, except it was from Guard's point of view.
Este archivo perdido.. Nose.
A lot of this was spent telling/speeding through time, playing catchup to the events we read involving Mark in the last full-length novel. It seemed unnecessary to detail out exactly how GUARD gathered all her supplies. I was willing to believe, with her length of time spent on Earth learned from the last 2 novellas and her expertise that she was able to accumulate wealth, supplies, info, technology, and even the ship. I read it because I'm a conpletionist, but it didn't add anything we didn't really know already.
While the Garde hide and grow, Lexa waits in the shadows, doing whatever she can to help them from a distance, until such time as they might need her. Since Lexa has always felt a bit mediocre to me, this book was mostly mediocre too. There isn't much new here or particularly interesting. It's really just a way to re-visit the world of the main series and possibly get excited for the next book of the series. For those who have already read the main series, you can probably skip this one unless you just love the books so much you want to read everything that was written.
Relectura.
Idk. I struggled reading this one. Not that it was bad or anything. It just didn't hold my attention as much as the other novellas did. Like, yeah in the beginning I was absolutely stoked for stuff like getting to see Malcolm Goode at home with his wife and little six-year-old Sam. I liked seeing Lexa smash Purdy's face with a cabinet drawer. But a lot of this felt like it was kinda filler. Idk.

Dammit, you mean to tell me The Revenge of Seven couldn't have included a couple more pages for this side story? Reading this after the book doesn't have much of an impact, it would have been better or at least more fun if this was together with the book.
P.S.: Sarah was pleasant to read about as long as she's not with John (for real).
So this is how Lexa acquired the ship. I like her as a character but sometimes she act very selfish that I want to remind her that she is acting as same as Elders whom she hated. I didn't imagine she knew Malcolm and I was surprised. Overall it was an interesting read.
This book is told by lexa (guard) who has been working behind the scenes. In this mini story we are caught up to all she has been doing from the beginning leaving us again where the revenge of seven left us.
Some of the short stories in the series feel nessasary to read, others tell the same story from a different character's pov but provide no new information. This particular one was the latter, but still entertaining.
Definitely a good precursor and background information on how they get the ship back though it does seem a little bit rushed. Good information on how John Sarah met Lexa and the work that they are doing though it does feel rushed, there's not a lot of details just content.
I'm glad that we get to see more of Sarah, before she felt like a 2-dimensional character, now she's much more tolerable. Also love knowing more about Lexa and how she came to know Mark James, he's probably my favourite character aside from Nine.
