Tancy and Audrey become close friends, even though they are from different backgrounds. Audrey coming from a wealthy family and Tancy from a struggling one. As their friendship deepens, Tancy tells Audrey about a murder that had occurred during her childhood and they both set out down the mysterious path, to find the murderer.

I am really on the fence about this book. It was a very hard book to get into, as the writing seemed to stall at the beginning a lot. But as the story progressed, it seemed to get better. I think there was a lot of unnecessary information that didn't further the story and a lot of withheld information that could have helped the story. But overall it was engaging enough for me to continue on.

My rating: 3.5

There are two main characters who come from very different backgrounds and attitudes about men in particular. Romance and mysterious deaths are central themes. That an angel helped one character get through her tough childhood was a believable and enjoyable part of the plot. The explicit sexual acts were long and distractive. I did not think it was necessary for the overall story-line. The twist at the end was disappointing though many reviewers liked it.

Author Jennifer Hinsman lays the foundation of two girls from separate ends of economic and nurturing family backgrounds. Tancy Collins grows up without both parents in supporting roles. She made her way, starting in her 11th year, developing strong self-reliance skills. Audrey Greer spent her youth pampered in Texas with society parents mapping the lives of their children. At age 11, her parents threw her a party most brides envy.

The growth comparisons between the two young ladies at various birthdays highlight both good and bad events with good details for readers. Tancy gets her strength from what she overcomes, as well as the support of a sweet neighbor, Angel Smith. Angel is an enigma.

“Arennn’t youuu gonna say hi tooo your mom?”
Greta managed to slur out to Tancy.
“My mom has been gone for years in a drunken state of existence. If she comes back, I’ll be sure to say hi,” Tancy replied, rolling her eyes as she headed to her room.
“Ahhhh, don’t beee so, sooo grouchy,” Greta said, waving her arm in the air. “You at neighbors, you stay away from…” She seemed to lose her train of thought.

Audrey gets her strength by observing the way her parents orchestrate her brothers. The marching orders of conduct and behavior deliver high rewards but high costs for a growing girl. Her parents frown upon her independence.

Author Hinsman gets both girls connected at Northwestern University from vastly different starting points. They find romance, Audrey with Robert and Tansy with Gunner. When the story turns to solve murders in Tancy’s neighborhood from fifteen years ago, it strengthens the bond between the girls.

The differences of social class do not rule out the quest for justice. The path toward the truth is dark and fraught with twists and turns that put these girls in danger. Solving this cold case is the most compelling part of this story.

It is an exciting tale for those lovers of suspense. You will find out if these girls can make a lifetime friendship endure the challenges of family, money, greed, and control.

I received an e-book version of this novel through an internet giveaway which had been given by 4 Wills Publishing and the following is my honest opinion.

While having read a few novels for this genre since becoming a Book Reviewer about six-and-a-half months ago I find this endeavor by Jennifer Hinsman to be the quintessential example of what a real erotic novel should be like, others on the other might consider this to be pornographic. But since reviewing one which actually is porn I can tell the difference, this one at least has other elements in the storyline besides sex such as mystery, romance and a little comedy sprinkled in for good measure.

Although Tancy and Audrey, the two main characters, came from two totally different backgrounds, they bounded when they met as college roommates and they friendship grew as time went by. When Audrey learns about a murder which had occurred during Tancy’s childhood the two decided to investigate it and to attempt to find the culprit.

The writing draws the readers in, as they get absorbed into the action of the storyline and wanting to what will happen next.

And after considering all the facts, how can I not give this book 5 STARS.

As a non-fan of erotica, I loved this story. Why? Because it's not "50 Shades Of Grey" where it's one hundred percent erotica. I'd say it's only twenty-five percent erotica where seventy percent is mystery and the remaining five is comedy. Tancy and Audrey become college roommates and almost instantly hit it off as friends. Despite the two coming from very different backgrounds. As they find out more about each other, Audrey learns from Tancy that a murder occurred during her childhood and they take it upon themselves to find the culprit. So where does the sex fit into all of this? I know it seems unlikely but the plot definitely fits well into the sex scenes. Some of them seemed forced upon but the end result is great. Very well written, very well developed characters and as I said before, I like how the author, Jennifer Hinsman was able to combine two genres that wouldn't go good together and actually make them work. And when or if they find the killer's identity, let's just say it will put Tancy and Audrey's friendship to the test.

Deep soul attachments are strengthened, tying Tancy and Audrey together; however, their existences are transformed by scandalous facts. The homicides were exposed in anticipation of these gals, enduring risk, sweltering passion; even love. Tancy and Audrey have a bond like siblings, and even though they stem from the opposite sides of the tracks, one from prosperity and a source of pride, the other underprivileged and having inattentive, substance abusing parents, they are still kindred spirits. Their closeness and strong ties will lead them down a dark path where they’ll attempt to crack a homicide case going back into Tancy's younger years. Author, Jennifer Hinsman’s story is written well, with believable characters that you get attached to very quickly. Jennifer gives you just enough on each page to tempt you to the next, keeping you on the edge of your seat, wanting to know what’s going to happen next. This is a great tale for lovers of suspense and passionate reads.

In "Angel of Death' by Jennifer Hinsman, there are plenty of multi-dimensional relationships to be explored. A friendship formed between Tancy and Audrey, even though their backgrounds differed severely. Audrey wound up bound to an alternative lifestyle in an attempt to gain independence from her parents and maintain her usual comforts. Tancy found true love in her first real boyfriend. My favorite part of the story was the way their lives intersected, their families connected to the unsolved deaths, and how Angel always looked out for Tancy until it was solved. The truth about Angel surprised me in a good way, but then, I had some questions about how she managed to keep Tancy from starving to death. A lot of sexual scenes in this book. I would have preferred more about the bones of the story and the path to uncovering the mystery and revealing the bad guy; I enjoyed that aspect. Overall, I liked where the author went with it.

Angel of Death is a good read. The novel follows Tancy and her friend Audrey as they are drawn into a mysterious murder mystery dating back to Tancy's childhood.
I found the erotic elements to the story to be well written, although sometimes the couples did wax on a little about how wonderful their partners where. Maybe it's just me, but I'd have told a guy to shut up if he kept going on about how amazing I was all the time...
The characters are well developed and while the main characters came from very different worlds, their friendship was believable.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of a mystery with an erotic bent.

An intriguing mystery thriller!

Angel of Death is an absorbing mystery novel spiced with romance and steamy love scenes. The storyline is original and the main characters are well written. The author expertly combines the tension of an engrossing mystery thriller with the romantic adventures of Tancy and Audrey (the protagonists of the novel).
I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it for anyone who loves an exciting mystery novel!

I am finding this book hard to review. The storyline was good and original and the characters were likable. I would have given the book four stars if I only rated the story. There is just something about the writing that I feel is off. It isn't that it wasn't proof read. The wording isn't polished, mature, sophisticated. It felt like it was written by a high school student or an author's first attempt at writing a book. It will be interesting to see what Ms. Hinsman has to offer in the future.

Good Reading

The story moves slow. But interesting. It kept my wanting to find out what was going to happen to these two young ladies. I feel though it had way too much unnecessary material. But all in all I enjoyed the story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Gritty, Twisty Ride with Heart and Heat

Angel of Death is a gripping, emotionally layered thriller that blends suspense, friendship, and raw vulnerability in all the best ways. Jennifer Hinsman does a masterful job crafting two unforgettable characters Tancy and Audrey whose bond feels both authentic and unbreakable, even as they descend into a world of danger, secrets, and steamy entanglements.

From childhood trauma to cold case murder investigations, every chapter is packed with tension, sharp dialogue, and unexpected twists that kept me hooked. I especially appreciated how Hinsman handled serious themes without ever losing the human connection at the core of the story.

The pacing is tight, the romance sizzles, and the ending? Unexpected and deeply satisfying.

Highly recommended for fans of suspense with substance and heart.

I wanted to like this book and the plot description sounded interesting. But I could not get any farther than the first few chapters because It was so simplistic. We are told who these 2 women are and all we need to know, with zero subtlety or development pe opportunity to judge them for ourselves. The plot may have turned out to be interesting, but it felt like reading a story written by a middle-schooler.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I agree with another reviewer that there was just something off about the book. It was 458 pages and could have used some streamlining. Maybe a few more people to read it before publication to give her their thoughts and ideas. It didn't have the spelling errors that are in so many self published books and a few big name publisher books. I did notice spot in the book where the author said it took Tancy seven years to finish college and another place that it said something about stuff accumulated "during their five years at Northwestern". I know that fiction is supposed to be an escape of reality, but so many things in the book had me thinking "that could never happen". The biggest being that Audrey leaves a totally paid college education in Texas behind to go to school at Northwestern and be independent from her parents. We are not told what she majored in or if it would make her enough money to support her love of designer clothes. We do know that she chooses a profession that does put her future under the control of several things including men and her youthful looks. Another one of many "Huh?" moment for me was that a spirit was able to make sure someone got fed, call 911 and manipulate how Tancy saw her house. I would be willing to read more from the author despite this critical review. It was not one of those books that I just could not finish.
