Three 🌟
I'm still enjoying the series, but this book aggravated me a bit. I was really unhappy with who died in the last book, and I had hoped that the character would still have a part in the continued series. I mean, there are other ghosts, so why not that person!?!?!
My other complaint, not necessarily this book itself, but the series as a whole (and honestly, most series that have a continuation) is I would like to know how many books are planned in the series. Is this going to end with 6, 7, 8? Or will it be dragged out for 20? That may just be me, but I'd like to know how invested I'm gonna need to be. 🤷‍♀️
It's still a good story, though. Has all the required scary and suspenseful parts that have me second-guessing reading alone at night. I have the same criticism for this book as I had for the others, using obscure archaic language when something modern and well-known would suffice. I even had to look up a word I wasn't sure of; while context clues had me guessing correctly, it was still an annoyance and unnecessary.
Overall, it's a good series, and I'm invested enough about Sadie's outcome with her eventual gigantic confrontation that I'll continue reading the upcoming books. At least for now. 😑

I can't give this a 2 star.

This was awful. I love the first 3 books in this series, but I can't stand this book. The writing is stilted and clunky, Sadie goes between being a shell and being her old perky self, which doesn't follow any reasonable path. The phrases like "the librarian" "the young lady" "the hostess" are rampant and lazy writing. And this book changes point of view randomly, sometimes from paragraph to paragraph.

How dare the next book not be available 😭
I need to know the origin of this cult.
I will never recover from the death of our dear friend. But I love this series.
The descriptions in this book were seriously top notch. Probably some of the most horrifying so far!

This was a really solid continuation of the series. I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot again — the writing is eerie, vivid, and flows so well, and I just really enjoy being back in Sadie’s world.

There were a few moments though where I honestly found myself thinking, “Why is she doing that?” Some of her choices didn’t fully make sense to me. And the ending felt a bit too quick and not as impactful as I expected.

Still, it was a good read overall, just not quite strong enough for a full five stars.

Honestly this was good mostly because the aspects of the girl's mom are my least favorite thing about the whole series and this book having little interaction with her made it good. This was good and creepy. This is my favorite out of the rest of the series. I hope they come out with more.

Ganz ehrlich?

As always, this author does a great job with his scenes and characters. If you were a fan of the terrifyingly graphic images in the original Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, then you'll love this author. You may not get visuals but he does a great job describing things that paint truly gruesome characters and this story is no different! While I enjoyed it a lot, it has been about 3 years since I was last in this series but there were some things missing that I felt have been in the foreground in the other stories in this series that wasn't this round. While this story does feel wrapped up, it also feels like the author may have left himself an opening to add another book and if he does, I will definitely be reading it as well!

The Haunting of Morris Inn by Ambrose Ibsen is a gripping and eerie continuation of the Beckoning Dead series, seamlessly following the events of The Haunting of Winslow Manor. Sadie’s journey takes a dark turn as she grapples with loss and the disturbing truths of her past, leading her to the sinister Morris Inn, where a vengeful spirit preys on vulnerable guests. Losing August was heartbreaking, and I wasn’t sure how the story would progress without him, but this book provided a strong and compelling segue into what I hope will be book five! The haunting elements were chilling, the atmosphere was perfectly unsettling, and the character development kept me hooked. This was another great addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

I couldn’t remember what had happened in the other books. I vaguely remembered Sadie and August, but no other details. This probably made my experience worse.

There was one creepy moment towards the beginning, but after that there was no build up. Things happened, but it was so very, in your face. Not my cup of tea. The narrators old lady voice for the villain was silly too. Probably better if you read it yourself.

There were a lot of repetitive words and phrases that got annoying. Like “reprise”. No one says they’re going to reprise something anymore (ever?). Little things like that were a drag on what little plot there was. I’m done with this series.

I think this was my favorite of the series which made me sad because August was gone and I really liked his character. It was a nice swapping of POVs between Sadie and JoJo as well as some great additional character introductions. I felt like this one brought the creepy / spooky levels up a bit for me which was nice. I thought this was the final book in the series but looks like it should be continuing as their was no conclusion for Sadie’s mother so I’ll be interested to see how the author keeps the haunting of different buildings fresh.

Ambrose Ibsen is AMAZING and has nailed it once again! The beckoning dead series is sooo good. I hate putting down each book in the series until I am finished. Book 4 was no exception. book 3 was an emotional roller coster and book 4 was to but I was hooked as soon as I started page one. I hope there will be a book 5 and I hope it will come quick because I can not wait to see what hapens next.

Awesome read

I enjoyed this new addition to the series. It has the great atmospheric feeling of terror that I have enjoyed in all of Mr. Ibsen's books. Had a hard time putting it down, each chapter just draws you easily into the next. Can't wait to see were Sadie's journey takes her.

I liked the previous three books of the series but at this point, the story has been stretched for too long. I was really hoping that this would be the last book in the series. It's time for the conclusion I think.

I stand by my comments on the third book that this series needs to end. It's losing the impact that the earlier books held. Terrible shame because this could have been a really strong, atmospheric story. At this point its feeling a lot more like filler then actual progression.

The stories in this series are very entertaining. More of a mystery series and not really scary at all but then I am more use to Stephen King. I think that the target audience for these books are probably adolescents and emerging adults but I am nearly 60 and I enjoy them.

I enjoyed this read but was missing August along Sadie's side. This series has a creepy way with the Ghosts evil spirits whatever you wanna to call them. Just wish goodreads would be better at listing books in a series as I almost missed this one because I didn't know there was a 4th book out.

Finally one that didn't end in absolute dread and tragedy. I was not crazy on JoJo and Sadie can be hit or miss, but for some reason I adored the proprietor, this inn, and the cook. What a nifty little place to visit. Without ghosts there, of course.

Wonderful

Best book I have read in a long time. No unneeded sex, loved the characters, I can visualize the inn. I started reading and couldn't stop. Thank you for writing it.

This was the best book in the series. You do need to read them in order to follow the story line and characters. Great series and excellent book to end on.

On her own

I'm glad Sadie was able to work through August's death. She's doing well on her own. Let's see what happens in Italy!
