"A salty-sweet, sun-soaked triumph!" ★★★★★When a single phone call pulls Luna back to her surf town roots, she swears she’s just here to keep her family from falling apart—especially her fierce little sister, Loli. But then there’s Téo local rugby star, heartbreak hazard, and the last person she should want.

One summer. One boy she shouldn’t trust. One chance to risk it all.

Tender, wild, and impossibly romantic, The Salt in Our Hair is your next favorite New Adult obsession. Come for the ocean air, stay for the slow-burn kisses, cry when it’s over.

Two years after leaving Biarritz for UCLA, Luna Sarasola thought she’d finally outgrown the sun-bleached surf town she once called home. But when her twin sister, Camille, dies in a surfing accident, Luna is pulled back to a family in pieces—especially her baby sister, six-year-old Loli, who’s grieving the only way she knows loudly, fiercely, and without apology.

She plans to stay just long enough to hold the family together.

Then there’s Teo Lopez. A local college rugby star with a grin that should probably come with a warning label—and a recent surfing friend of Camille’s. Now he’s everywhere Luna offering rides, coaching little league rugby, fixing up the beach shack Camille loved, and asking questions she’s not ready to answer.

Being around him feels like a second chance. Maybe even something she never knew she needed.

As the past collides with the present, Luna faces a keep her heart locked down, or risk everything on a love that might just be worth the pain.

Alice Rose McQueen is not just an urban fantasy author but also a singer and magician who often spends her time on tour. Her literary adventure began with a tumor she had to tame, which became a persistent companion, bringing good days and bad. The pain often prevents her from functioning normally, and when she has to lie down and stay still, she writes. Convenient, right?

In her daily life, Alice Rose is surrounded by her two feathery and mischievous companions, Jimmy and Jean-Kevin. These two birds, although a bit too noisy and often intrusive, bring a joyful cacophony to her writing days.

In addition to juggling her many passions, Alice Rose is also a young grandmother, having become a mom at a very young age. This adds an extra layer of chaos and happiness to her busy life.

She also has a few little secrets: despite a general indifference to chocolate, she devours impressive quantities of it while writing, even if it means gaining a few pounds per finished book (4 kg on average).

To add a touch of adventure to her already eventful life, Alice Rose has had a near-death experience—an adventure that was strange and almost pleasant, profoundly influencing her perspective on life and death.

Her mantra? “Let’s enjoy life before it kills us.” Alice Rose lives with resilience and passion, continuing to captivate her readers with magical and deeply human stories.

I am a person that judges a book by its cover and I was drawn to this fun beachy cover for a summer read and though the art is beautiful, it holds no candle to what’s written inside. I loved every single second of this book. I laughed, I cried, and it forced me to look at the world just a little bit differently.

Luna is navigating a grief journey after losing her twin sister unexpectedly, doing the one thing they both loved the most. Caught between having to be strong for their little sister Loli and figuring out who she wants to become, while facing her inner self that she’s always been. Alice Rose McQueen paints has such a stunning way of writing and telling the story in a way that reaches the deepest part of your soul.

I am a person that doesn’t feel a lot of things but this book was written so strongly that I didn’t have a choice but to feel every single feel while reading it. It’s heartwarming and heartbreaking all within the same pages. A book that leaves you wanting a happily ever after for every single character that you just spent time falling in love with. A story of second chances and taking the time to find yourself, when your world feels like it’s falling apart.
May my youngest daughter forever be fierce like Loli, and my oldest daughter stand as tall as Luna as she grows up.

Where do I begin? Luna, Téo, Loli, and Camille were the unexpected characters that dove directly into my heart. Deep sister bonds, the kind made of blood and the kind you find along your journey in life, drove the undercurrent throughout this story. Relationships that were okay to say “no” to and walk away from were like sand castles slowly eroding with the tide. And finally, the strength that develops after heart-wrenching loss, when the worst has already happened and the only direction left is to survive hit like tidal waves crashing against the rocks. I loved this book. I loved the characters, the setting, the banter, the deep emotions the story triggered. I didn’t know the ugly tears I cried would find their way and become the salt in my hair. Thank you, Alice Rose McQueen for dreaming of and writing, The Salt In Our Hair. Thank you for the ARC! It was such a pleasure to have the opportunity to read it first!

5 STARS — A salty-sweet, sun-soaked triumph!

The Salt in Our Hair is a shimmering, gut-punching gem that dances somewhere between grief and grace. It’s the kind of book that sneaks up on you with its softness, then rips your heart wide open—in the best possible way.

From the first page, I was swept into a coastal world so vivid, I swear I could taste the salt on my lips and feel the heartbreak in my chest. The characters are messy, beautiful, and gloriously human. There’s laughter in these pages. Pain. Longing. And a love that doesn’t come easy, but hits hard when it does.

This isn’t just a summer romance. It’s a second-chance, soul-repairing, cry-in-your-car, text-your-best-friend kind of read. If you’ve ever lost someone, chased the wrong dream, or needed to start over—this book sees you.

Alice Rose McQueen, you’ve bottled up sunshine and sadness and made something unforgettable.

Let this book be your summer. You won’t regret it.
