A year after her husband’s tragic death, all Lady Julianna Barrows wants is to be left alone and forget that most of her heart went with him when he passed. Instead, she finds herself the subject of many a matchmaking scheme and lurid offer to ease her widowhood, as well as save her fading fortune. Desperate to avoid having to remarry, she takes on a position as a tutor, only to discover that the man she’s helping unexpectedly stirs her heart and passion.

Nash Wolverton boxed his way out of the London slums and into immense wealth, but he couldn’t care less about Society’s approval. Except he has his by-blow daughter’s future to consider. To ensure her acceptance into Society, he’ll endure anything―including procuring a tutor to transform him into a gentleman so he can secure a suitable, boring wife.

Yet what he wants changes the moment he hires Julianna. She may be a lady, but she’s far from tedious. Bold and compassionate, she is nothing like the women of the ton. Suddenly, she’s elicited a simmering desire in him, and even a longing to love and be loved that he always thought out of his reach. Knowing what he planned to settle for can now never be enough, he vows to win her love. But as the walls she’s built begin to crumble, Julianna’s fears threaten to tear them apart and she alone must decide if protecting her heart trumps breaking Nash’s.

If you are looking for a short historical romance that will make you laugh, cry, sigh, and awe, then you are looking for After Forever. Julie Johnstone covered all my emotions in this touching story.

Ms. Johnstone is one of my favorite historical romance authors because she does such a great job of making me connect with the characters. Not only are her characters charming and entertaining they always seem to reach out and touch my heart.

Julianna Barrows has lost the love of her life and all she wants is to be left alone to raise her adorable daughter, Liza However, her brother-in-law needs her to remarry. She is reluctant to remarry so she takes on a job as a tutor.

Nash Wolverton has lead a hard life to get to where he is. Now he has the money to be part of the upper class. He just needs a wife to help raise his daughter, Maggie to be the young lady of the ton that he wants her to be. He ends up hiring Julianna to tutor both he and his daughter.

These two really have a lot in common. They have both been hurt. The each have a daughter they love dearly. They also each are in need of something, they just don't know what. It very well could be each other.

I loved watching these four together. Nash is so sweet to his little girl and Julianna's daughter. I don't think this will spoil anything for you and I loved the scene so I will tell you one of my favorite parts. Julianna comes back down stairs after changing and finds Nash having a tea party on the floor with both Maggie and Liza. I think this touched my heart as much as it affected Julianna.

After Forever is part of the A Whisper of Scandal series. However, Julie Johnstone has done a fabulous job of writing this story so you will have no problem reading it as as stand alone if you haven't read the rest of the series yet. I have had a chance to read at least one other book in this series and it too was wonderful. So you may want to check them out as well.

I am always excited when I hear that Julie Johnstone has a new release out. I can never wait to get my hands on it. This story is a page turner that I read in one setting. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen with Nash and Julianna. They have many things they must overcome in order to be together. Their own feelings and a few people that try to get in their way are just a few of their obstacles. I certainly enjoyed After Forever and I can not wait to see what story Ms. Johnstone will come up with next. I know I will be anxiously awaiting her next release.

I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on After Forever.

Who doesn't dream of getting a second chance at happily ever after when circumstances have denied you? Julie Johnstone weaves a beautiful and witty tale of heartbreak and second chances. Lady Julianna Barrows is a widow trying to find herself after losing the love of her life. Despite what everyone else says, she's not ready because she truly believes that a part of her died with her late husband and she fears it is lost forever and that she will never be whole again.

Nash Wolverton is no gentleman the Ton will ever truly accept. He's an orphan who fought his way out of the slums of London and has amassed a considerable fortune. That has made him only moderately tolerable, he isn't one of them and he's in trade after all, but he doesn't need or seek anyone's approval but those who have bothered to look beyond his past and lack of lineage to the exception man he is. At least he didn't until he finds out he has a daughter. A daughter that was the "consequence" of having an affair with a married woman. A woman who not only did not let him know about her pregnancy but only informed him after she had abandoned the child in the very same orphanage he himself had fought to escape. When he rescues his child, he vows that he will do whatever he can to ensure that her life would never be the hardship his had been. He knows to he has to making her into a true lady who is readily accepted by the Ton. But he can't do it alone and not just any tutor will do.

After an interesting turn of events including a very unorthodox and potentially damaging meeting, Nash gets the perfect tutor in Lady Julianna. A woman who by all accounts should be as tedious and boring as the rest of the ladies of the Ton. And while Lady Julianna has vowed to do everything in her power to turn his daughter into a lady, Nash has vowed to make this fascinating woman his forever. After Forever will grab your heart and soul and never let go.

Julianna, Lady Barrow, is trying to step back into society after over a year of mourning for her beloved husband, Henry, but her heart is not in it. She’s still grieving, and not at all ready to be cheerful. She especially is not looking for a new husband or a dalliance. To make matters worse, her late husband left her in a precarious financial situation. It appears she will have to remarry, or actually find a position. When an opportunity arises for Julianna to tutor Nash Wolverton and his daughter on how to act properly in society, she jumps at the chance.

Nash was raised on the streets. He worked his way up to owning a gaming club, and now has become involved in shipping. He wants his daughter to be accepted in society, and to have a better life than he had. He truly desires a wife, and thinks Julianna is the perfect choice. He knows she is dead set against remarrying, but hopes that proximity with him and his daughter will change her mind.

Julianna and Nash have an immediate attraction, which is a bit shocking to Julianna, as her marriage was somewhat passionless. Still, she genuinely loved Henry, and fears ever loving again and taking the risk of losing someone and going through all that suffering. Nash does his best to woo her, but their situation is looking very bleak.

Both of these characters were well developed for a short novel, and I found myself liking both of them. Anyone who has suffered loss can feel sympathy for Julianna’s reluctance to put her heart on the line a second time. I also admired Nash for his strength and determination. Their happy ever after didn’t come easily, but it was well written and believable, as Julianna had to come to see on her own that some risks are worth taking.

Nash Wolverton is an ex boxer, now businessman who don't give a fig for society except ha has a daughter and will do anything for her, even go into society to find a wife to help smooth her way in. He needs someone to teach him how to act. Julianna loved her husband and still does. But all her friends and family think its time to marry again. When she finds out that her husband gambled away most of his money and her brother in law can't afford to take care of her and her daughter she sets out to get a position instead of marrying. This leads her to Nash, who is half in love with her because she defended him against his baby mother. Nash has decided Julianna will make the perfect wifebut has to convince her to. So N ash set out to seeuce her into being his wife by setting up teaching scenarios like kissing a proper woman and walzing. Everything is working until her brother in law finds out and comes with her husband's best friend who asked her to.marry him. This starts a confusion of feelings Julianna is not ready to admit to and she leaves. Nash follow a her and makes her jealous so she can confront her feelings for him. This was a fun story with their daughters are hilarious and the story comes together beautifully. I recommend this story completely

After Forever by Julie Johnstone
A Whisper of Scandal Novel Book Three
Lady Julianna Barrows has no desire to ever marry again. Loving and losing her first love was enough for her lifetime. She has her daughter to care about and that is all she needs, or so she thought. When past secrets come to light, her world tilts.

Nash Wolverton needs to learn to be a gentleman and find a Society wife. His daughter’s future depends on it. And he has found the perfect candidate. Now he just needs to convince her to give love a second chance.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and really enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading the first three books in the series to get to know the characters who already had their stories. Bargaining with a Rake, Conspiring with a Rogue and Dancing with a Devil.

A wonderful story and unlike any I've read before, truly original. Our hero is not your usual gentleman of the ton, but a father willing to do everything he can to raise his young daughter to be a Lady. The main characters are unique to say the least, and this story takes some unexpected turns, and will have you rooting for the hero and cursing the heroine at times....lol. I really enjoyed this book, and give it 5 stars for a reason, and highly recommend you reading it. Truly, all the books in this series, A Whisper of Scandal, has been a great enjoyment to read and I highly recommend each and every book, they are all wonderful.

Another great read from Julie Johnstone. She is one of the most recently discovered authors I have found. I greatly enjoy her work and look forward to reading more of it. Her writing style flows well and keeps you reading well past bedtime. This novel is not exactly novel length nor is novella size- a good mid-point of the two. The love story was both heartbreaking and sweet with passion and feeling that is felt beyond the pages. I highly recommend not missing out on this book. If you've never read her before- this is a great way to start.

Beautifully written story about finding the passion filled love we all dream of finding one day. I have to admit I haven’t read any historical romance for awhile but after reading this and getting used to the terminology again it was a very touching love story. I seriously loved how she followed her heart and went against what everyone wanted her to do. Its all about taking risks when you find the one you love. This book was beautifully written. I might even be tempted to read more from this author.

Julie Johnstone writes with such passion. When you pick this short story you will find that putting it down will be difficult. The characters Julianna and Nash are to people who are injured lovers in very different ways. Julianna loses her first love and Nash grew up without love. You will be so intrigued to find how these two people find a special new way to love! Must read book!

Highly recommend this book! Lady Julianna lost her beloved husband in an accident and never wants to feel that pain again. She just wants to live her life alone in peace. Nash has never truly accepted and loved for him and only thinks of his daughters future. It is a wonderful Regency story of loss, love and passion. A quick read and wonderful story for the holiday season!

After Forever, book 4 in Julie Johnstone’s A Whisper of Scandal, is a lovely story. Gaming Hell owner Nash Wolverton wants to improve his standing in life and society, for his daughter Maggie. Lady Julianna Barrows had and lost the love of her life. Widowed for nearly two years, she wants to give up, but keeps going because of her daughter. Julianna does want to fall in love or marry ever again, because she doesn’t want to feel that loss. When Julianna comes to Nash’s defense not once but twice, he knows that she is the woman for him, but can he convince her. I love the characters in this story, I love the banter and the sweet attraction and steamy 🔥🔥🔥 heat between Nash and Julianna!

Loved

I enjoyed this book and the characters, Juliana and Nash. Mrs. Prim and Proper was perfect for the Beast. It is book four of a wonderful series, but can be read alone. The story wasn't long, but a good read. My only complaint would be I wish it was longer or perhaps had an epilogue. It was a full story with no cliffhanger, but I really want to read more with this couple. I do home they make an appearance throughout the rest of the series.

Great!

I loved this book as much as the previous three in the series. The heroine, Julianna, couldn't get past the loss of her husband and then she met Nash. A fun, witty, romantic chase of Nash winning Julianna's love. I recommend this book to all who love this genre of reading.

Lisa Kleypas" and in my opinion it was much better then this. A/c to me I didn't get heroine's feeling for hero it doesn't seemed natural it was like sudden,I know it's novella but I wanted lil bit more content and I was expecting Epilogue which was missing..

Love Can Set You Free

Julianna and Nash’s love story is so good. Her fear of losing yet another man in her life was paralyzing. He used all his less than gentlemenly skills to win her over. Of course having a little each was charming and added to the connection that grew. Great read.

It is one thing to read a story where one of the main characters have lost their spouse, but it is a whole other thing when the grief of that loss is as palpable as the one the author expressed here. You couldn't help but sympathize with Julianna as you grasped the depth of her love for her husband - the main reason she was so adamant against re-marriage. On the flip side of that, you couldn't help but adore Nash. His obvious love for his daughter made him endearing right from the start, but the fact that he was willing to take things slowly with Julianna in order to win her over made him a winner in my book.

The characters were well developed, and the story-line captivated me from the start. And although it is technically considered a short story, I felt that the author told her story in such a way that I felt like there was a beginning, a middle and an end. It didn't have that rushed feel that so many other short stories tend to feel.

I would love to read more by this author (especially if there will be more stories featuring these characters).

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

A charming little story about giving love a second chance!
After losing her husband to consumption nearly a year and a half ago, lady Juliana has no desire to love again. Even though her mourning period is over and friends are hatching matchmaking schemes to find the young and attractive widow a new husband or even a paramour. Juliana wants nothing to do with these schemes, instead her only wish is to care for her young daughter and raise her to be a respectable lady.
All is not as Juliana knows. She learns of her late husband's gambling problems and how the estate has been losing money for over two years, leaving her and her young daughter almost destitute. Desperate to ease her brother-in-law's burden of providing for her on top of his growing family, Juliana takes a position as a tutor for the newly wealthy shipping magnate Nash Wolverton. Never did Juliana think that her new employer would stir the fire within her heart!

I was lucky enough to win an audiobook copy of this story. It makes a fantastic knit and read!

It was too short! I wanted this book to go on and on as it was so much fun to read. I loved the two main characters, Julianna and Nash. They were surely made for each other. Their connection was so enjoyable to see develop...the humor, the passion and the witty banter. It was wonderful how much they respected each other and saw traits that they admired. It was very heartwarming, but I wanted more. I would have loved to spend more time with them and read more about their time together (epilogue, please!).

I'm relatively certain that this is the first of Julie Johnstone's books that I've read, though I could be wrong. I love the way that Ms. Johnstone wove the story together and had me in tears a few times throughout the book. I'm always so happy with happy endings, but if you can get me emotionally involved along the way to the happy ending, you have done a great job. I should mention that this is not an easy thing to do.

I loved the story of Julianna and Nash finding love in each other. Julianna feared love after losing her husband, she had to learn that to understand joy, one had to understand sorrow and not fear it. Nash knew she was the one for him, he just had to make her see that as well! Watching their story unfold had me in giggles and tears, that ended with a smile.
