Highlander's Redemption picks up right at the ending of Highlander's Ransom bk 1. Garrick Sinclair is a Expert Archer and Mercenary for King Robert the Bruce. He is brother to Laird Robert Sinclair of Clan Sinclair. Garrick and his cousin Burke have been sent to spy on Lord Raef Warren there mortal enemy. We meet Raef in bk 1. He is cruel to his sister Jossalyn and often physically abuses her with beatings and chocking her near to death. Raef is a real piece of sick work. Disgustingly cruel.
Jossalyn is a healer which her brother Raef hates and forbids her to do. She often sneaks off to aide the Scottish villagers with her healing. Which results in her brother beating her. Sneaking out of the castle on her way to the village she runs into Garrick and Burke. They are posing as Blacksmiths to spy on the happenings of Longshanks through watching Raef.
Garrick and Jossalyn have an immediate connection. Raef has gone off visiting the dying King Longshanks Edward I to push is ideas of starting a war with King Robert The Bruce and to see if he can gain a barony.
Jossalyn decides she will escape her brother and his cruelty by hiding in the wagon with the departing Garrick and Burke. Once she is discovered she is taken back to her village. But when Garrick and Burke see the physical cruel treatment her brother is inflecting on her alongside the roadway. They decide to intervene and grab her. The battle was a bloody one, but they get Jossalyn and make a run for it. Jossalyn soon finds out that Garrick and Burke are no Blacksmiths but Highland Warriors spying for King Robert.
They fall in love as they travel through the Scottish Highlands to the Private Camp of King Robert. Once there she tells the King of her wanting to aide them with her healing skills and how badly she has been treated by her brother.
The Sinclair Brothers Trilogy, reminds me a lot of the Brilliant and Excellent Highland Guard series by Monica McCarty, which is just Awesome!! I think maybe the idea for The Sinclair Brothers Trilogy came from the Highland Guard series. With that said I think Emma Price held her own and reinventing her own views of Specially trained Highland Warriors and there love interest. I really loved Garrick and Jossalyn. They were the ideal couple. Both intelligent caring and willing to build a relationship. There romance was sexy and very sensual. My only complaint is there was no real depth or character building. The love scenes while erotic enough seemed scripted and generic. There was a Lack of Passion.
If You like stories like this I would Highly Recommend The Highland Guard Series by Monica McCarty!! However I do Highly Recommend Highlander's Redemption too!!

WOW! POWERFUL AND EMOTIONAL!!
WOW! What an exciting Scottish Romance. #2 in "The Sinclair Brothers Trilogy", but can be read as a stand alone. I absolutely love these characters. You have a brave, feisty, strong willed English healer, who had been controlled and abused by a brother, who believed in the English tyranny. And a brawl, sexy, tough Scottish Highland Warrior, who is an assassin for Bruce the true King of Scotland. Together, they face danger, betrayal, passion, desire, the dangers of war and the power of love against all odds. Compelling, powerful and emotional tale of the struggles of Scotland and the tyranny of English control. Well written, fast paced and passion filled in more ways than just sensuality. I love this series, with it's strong characters, it's emotional turmoil, it's powerful sensuality and it's lust for Scottish freedom. I can hardly wait for the next installment, which I believe or hope will be a novella, of one of the Sinclair's cousin, another warrior in the fight for Scottish freedom. Followed by the youngest Sinclair brother, Daniel's, story. Oh, yes! Ms. Prince is a wonderful, talented storyteller. You can almost feel the emotions, and passions, pouring off the pages of this emotional Scottish tale of freedom, from oppression, redemption and their struggles with love and finding their HEA. A must read Scottish Highland Historical Romance. Well done, indeed!

This book was boring, repetitive, and I just couldn't care less how these characters end up. I mean I have a pretty good idea how it ends, just from the sheer number of times the H/h repeat themselves and what they plan to do with their lives. The h was one of the most unbelievable characters I've read about in a long time. She was weak, and annoying.
I do want to see what happens to the third brother in this series, so heres hoping I wont dislike him as much as these characters...

Great, But Too Long
Oh, my goodness this was way too long. I really loved both Garrick and Jossalyn and their romance and journey. But, this book was too long for how little really happened. They spent most of the book in the woods thinking about how they felt. I almost never have a problem with characters thinking through their feelings. I like that in a book and very rarely think it is overdone, even when others do. But in this case, it was way overdone and it made the book much too long.
After meeting Garrick briefly in book 1 I expected him to be much darker, the way he glared at Alwin in the 1st book. He wasn’t dark and dangerous, actually his brother Robert was more so. Garrick came off a little bit mopey if anything. Jossalyn was sweet and interesting. Their romance was fluffy and fulfilling.
I have read every book published by Emma Prince, she is one of my favorite authors. She is consistent in her writing ability, usually earning 4-5 stars from me This is my 2nd favorite of the Sinclair Brothers series. WARNING: there is sex in this book, it is not erotica, but enough to be a steamy & hot adult romance. Please do not read if you are looking for something PG. Up until 80% of the book, I was HAPPY and all ready to give the book 4 stars for all the fluff and happy feelings.
Highlander's Redemption, like the first book in the series, is a very ordinary highland romance. It has all the right ingredients: fierce warrior, kind heroine, clan honor, Scottish independence, cruel villain and wonderful romance that only exists in romance novels. The fact is, once you have read one of them, you have read them all. But sometimes some writers make this age-old formula work and make me smile like an idiot for 300 pages. This was true so far for these 2 books in this series (have not read the 3rd one). Highlander's Redemption is just basically the same book with a different set of lead characters. But their romance is so pretty, I will gladly read another one of these highland romances.
But in the last 20%, all the talks about and with Robert the Bruce and his conquest for Scottish independence put the romance on the back burner. The book quickly lost steam. While I gladly gave the first book, Robert and Alwin's story 4 stars, I can only give Garrick and Jossalyn 3.
Ms. Emma Prince got the typical Scottish romance characterization right and her lead characters are very endearing. No overly long stupid fights or misunderstanding between characters. Lots of tenderness. But such fluffy books do not have the substance to accommodate politics. Instead of writing about Jossalyn aiding Robert the Bruce, the book would have benefited much more if the last 20% of the book was dedicated to Garrick and Jossalyn, instead of Robert the Bruce.
But for the first 80%, I thought this book is even fluffier than the first book, if that is even possible. It was still a very pleasant read, just kind of lost steam in the end.

This book two was well written. I thoroughly enjoyed Garrick Sinclair, Robert the Bruce's assassin, who is also Laird Robert Sinclair's brother. He goes on a stealth mission with his cousin Colin for his brother and his King. He normally works alone, therefore he does not like this accompanied mission. On the way, he almost kills a lass on the road.
Jossalyn Warren is Raef Warren's sister. He is the English brute who is the enemy if the Scot's. He is a monster to his sister. She is a healer and he forbids her to practice her craft, often times by physically hurting her. She needs to flee far away from her brother, but has not had the opportunity to do so. Therefore, she tends to the villagers in secret. While her brother is away she seeks herbs and is almost killed by a wagon barreling towards her.
These two have an unspoken passion that is unleashed.
I really enjoyed this and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Not as good as book one. The story and plot were great, but sometimes the reading became dull and repetitive. There were times when I would do find myself skimming the pages because the character was saying/ thinking the same thing. I can over look the grammatical errors and modern phrases. The characters were well written. I liked Garrick and his tough warrior on the outside, sweet lover on the inside. Jossalyn was a brave English healer that found love in a Highland warrior. I would like to read more about Burke, but for now on to book three, Daniel's story.

This book came as part of a bundle; and I have read the author before. I must say this was an entertaining story. Some how I feel like it probably touched on the personal termoils of the day. Heros having to do what was necessary to survive even tho it may not seem ethically right; Heroins feeling empathy for the world around them. It was a good story and very much worth the read. I am highly anticipating reading the other 2 books in this series now. I hope the passion found with these characters is found in the other books. Great read by Emma Prince.

She sets off to be free of her controlling brother and he is spying for Robert the Bruce and his brother. They embark on a journey together and she uses her healing skills and we all get to dislike her brother more than we did in the first book. Well written and more likable characters will defiantly read the next one.

Decent
interesting story, but there are a lit if errors, wrong words used, like guild instead of guilt, etc. I would've liked more time detailed in the story at the camp, more dialogue, but it makes for a quick read. compared to others in this setting, it is a fluff piece, and I felt like there was potential that wasn't quite reached with the plot, but decent book overall.

Romance while spying for the Bruce
This second novel in the series continues the story of the Sinclair brothers. I am truly enjoying this series. It brings together honorable men and strong willed women amid the battle for Scottish Independence.
A good read with spicy loving as well as battle planning and historical politics.

Sinclair Brothers Trilogy
Another very good read! Believable, full of action, flora & fauna (healing herbs), good guys, bad guys, pretty ladies, love, hate...did I mention action? Pure entertainment! Thank you for a few hours of reading fun.

I liked the first book in the series, but this one was not such a good story. I didn't feel like the situation was believable. There were also many grammatical/typing mistakes in the beginning of the book which always distracts me. It needed better editing.

Great Read
Garrett is such an amazing character in this read. I thoroughly enjoyed Garrett and Jossalyn's journey. I love this medieval time period and its history. I hope you will as well, for I am on to the next book in this series.

The story is so good! I'm half Gartick and Jossolyn for their happy ending. I wish Garrick would have taken Jossolyn to meet his brother and his sister in law. That would have been really cool.

An excellent novel. I love them, Jossalyn and Garrick. Though the story somehow is like the first one, this brings a beautiful evolving relationship between the characters.

I loved Jossalyn's and Garrick's introduction! I laughed out loud. "Inflict more help on her" and "Sorry I flung you" sent me! It was a great foil for Garrick's usual seriousness.
I loved Garrick shooting Warren's hand. That's exactly what he deserved in that moment, and the description seemed so cinematic.
Our hero and heroine didn't exactly fall in insta-love, but it seems like the heroine goes from "proper maiden" to "take me big daddy" in like 2 seconds. There was no prior mention of her thoughts on chastity... just kind of a "You know what? I've never thought much about sex, but this guy seems like a good choice."
I am so glad that Jossalyn is getting her chance at freedom. I like her spunk and her willingness to be reckless to get away from her abuser, even if that's ill advised. I despise Warren- and he still lives. I'm waiting for one of our heroes or heroines to rectify that situation.
I enjoy the way The Bruce is portrayed in this series- his wisdom, cunning and kindness. I didn't realize The Bruce's wife and kids were taken? I wonder if that will get brought up in a future story.
I'm waiting on the story of the fall of Jossalyn's previous home (Warren's holding)... I don't want John the blacksmith and other innocent villagers to fall. The Bruce said his war wasn't with villagers and farmers, but didn't make any guarantees because "it is warefare". I like that he didn't give any empty platitudes, but I understand Jossalyn's worry.

This series is set in a dangerous and tumultuous time in Scotland and there is plenty of suspense, danger and intrigue here. I really enjoyed Garrick, who is an archer and ace assassin for Robert the Bruce in his fight for Scottish independence. He is an interesting character since he does not see himself as a hero, but as someone that no woman could love. In contrast, Jossalyn is an expert healer who values every life. There are sparks and secrets, fear and mistrust but also great romance and passion between the two. There are some steamy scenes. The backdrop of the war going on makes this fast-paced and very interesting. I listened on Audible and Tim Campbell, as always, nails the accents and voices. Jossalyn's brother is a truly evil feature in this story as he was in the first book. Read them all!.

Good storyline--needs some fixes
I love this genre,, & land & time. Any good author should write to please & thrill & enthrall their whole audience & try not to alienate any.
It feels like a punch to the gut every time I read God's name being taken in vain! In truth, it was also a time & place where clergy were highly respected, & people were smart enough to know a long life wasn't guaramteed. People weren't gallant & honorable & SO blasphemous & sacrilegious. You can't have it both ways.
Additionally, stop being lazy! Time to use some common sense & research. Centuries off for having metal cots with springs!!!
This author has a great deal of potential but is her own worst enemy.

Loved it, I’m really enjoying this authors writing style and the historical romance genre. At first I thought this novel was going to be a similar repeat of the first novel in this series due to the way it starts but by a few chapters in I was glad to see a different and inventive storyline taking place.
So many series like this have repeat themes and although this is no acceptation I can see the author making an effort to surprise the reader with the build of tension and results that aren’t predictable.
I’m on to read the next book which was set up at the end of this novel, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Great story!
Garrick was sent to gather information about an enemy. So he and his cousin pretended to be blacksmiths. They were on their way when the wagon almost hit a young woman. Garrick stopped the wagon and helped her up. She was beautiful. He was at a loss for words at her beauty. Her name was Jossalyn. She was the sister of the enemy they were looking for. She did not like her brother, Warren. She told them a different last name. Well she decided that when Garrick and his cousin were leaving she would hide in the wagon and be long gone from him. Well, things got very interesting…in deed. Please read. A great story.
