Snowed in with a brooding ex-marine? I never stood a chance.
Stranded in the middle of a snowstorm, the last thing I expected was to be rescued by a rugged ex-Marine with eyes as dark as sin and a body made for sinning.
Monty’s a gruff, no-nonsense guy, living alone to escape the demons of his past. But when he offers me shelter, the storm outside is nothing compared to the heat that builds between us inside.
Each stolen glance, every brush of his rough hands against my skin, makes it impossible to deny the raw, electric chemistry between us.
I know I should resist. He’s a forbidden temptation, a man too broken for love. But one night is all it took for our desire to explode—fast, hard, and hotter than I ever imagined.
Just when I think I can walk away from our unforgettable time together, I’m hit with the shock of a lifetime—I’m pregnant.
Now, I must break through Monty’s walls, get him to trust me to open his heart so we can finally share the future I never knew I wanted.
I honestly did not pick up any sense of chemistry between Monty and Rita. I can appreciate a forced proximity romance, but this one felt off. Their connection did not feel genuine.
The change in the relationship between Monty and Rita, from their initial irritation to deep passion, was abrupt. With their different lifestyles and perspectives, they suddenly found an intense connection and attraction for one another. My feeling was like they flipped a switch.
I felt like Monty and Rita's dialogue with each other was stiff and uncomfortable, which was interesting because when they were interacting with other characters, it seemed more natural.
The age difference between the characters was not a central focus, but it was there. He was 35 while she was 24. I was surprised the age gap didn't create challenges in their relationship, because they seemed to be in very different stages of life.
The first couple of chapters were confusing. One chapter was Monty's point of view, and the next chapter was allegedly Rita's point of view, but the chapters were almost identical. I didn't think it was necessary to have the extra chapter. They were so close in detail that I honestly thought the chapters had been accidentally duplicated.
I did enjoy Monty's relationship with his family. I liked Rita's friend Molly. I also felt for Rita being pretty much alone in the world.
There were a couple of points of confusion for me, but I think that may have been an editing issue. They were not too confusing to figure out, and I don't believe they took anything away from the storyline.
This was a quick read for me. I would definitely suggest readers take a chance, especially if they enjoy age gap, forced proximity romances.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Ex military veteran and a lonely young Hollywood woman who works in the show industry. Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024 Monty a veteran is a loner after losing his fellow marines, is haunted by the deaths of his fellow marines, has isolated himself from his family and spends his time alone with his farm and the animals. Rita is lost in remote Montana in a snow storm and she is stranded when her rental cars goes off the road. Monty stops to help her and offers her shelter in his home to wait out the storm. The main story line is good but the first few chapters are confusing in that they were much the same causing me to feel like I was reading the same chapters over again. The plot and the story is good but the speed with which the writer had Monty’s and Rita’s first attraction was less the 24 hours for two people who are pretty much loners and each have different personal issues. Overall it is a good story but I feel like the writer could have easily spent more time developing each of the main characters to make this story more enjoyable. WR
After crashing in a snow storm, FMC is rescued by a grumpy MMC who is a Protector through and through. Although he is irritated by her, he also falls first. Being stuck in his cabin for a few days and giving into their feelings leads to a confusing relationship.
Will it last or will they decide it was a fun few days but that's it?

What an enjoyable story. A wonderful combination of spice and nice that made my heart happy while reading about our two slightly broken people who find each other during a snowstorm. Love this author and her style of story telling makes for a very enjoyable read.
