This is my favorite cozy fantasy series, it deserves so much more attention, but this book could really use some spell-checking. I don’t mind the occasional typo, but as the book went on, they got more and more frequent, at times whole sentences didn’t make sense because of some weird spelling error. It started to kinda take me out of it. Otherwise, glad to be back in Blue Moon Bay!

I have waited sooo long for this book, but I could've waited a week longer, honestly, just for it to have a proper spell & punctuation check. I'd even happily proofread & mark the typos, haha.
Unfortunately, that is a recurring problem with this series, but as usual the story/plot is good enough to deal with the little confusion now and then. But this time some mistakes really felt like a rush job now and then, with some flaws & issues.. maybe there were more than usual.
One harmless example: Bae told Hazel sarcastically the names and ages of her kids. Maren being 4 and Jax is 2. Later the book states that a 6 year old opens the door at Bae's house.. so I wonder if I missed another kid or was someone (maybe from the guests) bringing a 6 year old to the house? Did this case take over 2 years of sleuthing? Was the author unsure how old the kids were and forget to correct it at one place or another? Or is it just another confusing typo?
This and more little logic flaws or bent worldbuilding rules until this point, just for the stories' sake bugged me more than it probably should have.
I was happy that Bae started to get some personality in the last book and now she finally has one, haha. It was also nice to see that Iggy was included in the book and their little circle, along with Bae.
I was a bit confused where Max and Britt went halfway through, because they kind of vanished. This void felt a bit off after reading the last three books beforehand to freshen up my memories, with them usually hanging out together.. it lacked some real explanation why there was 0 contact for a quite long time, in the middle of their investigation, since they started this case together. I don't know why it bothered me so much, but I guess because usually you get some small parts of group chats, calls, or something, but this time: radio silence, not even real thoughts or references related to them, nothing. Unless I completely missed it?
This book felt a bit more "grown-up" and a bit darker in it's tone and storylines, which was a bit surprising, but not necessarily bad.. It was just less cozy, or maybe less dorky, than the previous books.
Overall, I still enjoyed the ride and especially the sexy moments with Elliot were great. The murder mystery was alright, but I somehow guessed the twist this time veeery early on, which never happened before in this series, but I also kind of forgot about it again - at least for a while.
The case and drama around it felt a bit more constructed and less natural than in the previous books. Maybe it was also the feeling that the murder and drama happened kind of outside of the hometown BMB-supernatural-community, since Jessica, Kleo and LeeLee are from out of town? Also, the gatekeeping (of the murder mystery solution) at the end really dragged on..
But overall, and even though I complain sooo much this time: I still enjoyed the book and am looking forward to new sequels of this series!
