Unmasked by smoldering desire, a rigidly disciplined madame gives in to the ultimate temptation in Lavinia Kent’s seductive new eBook original novella.
As the proprietress of London’s most discreet house of pleasure, Madame Rouge—Ruby to her clientele—prefers to keep her own company. The first rule in her establishment? She never, ever personally entertains the customers. However, the tall, dark, and provocatively tattooed American sailor who shows up on her doorstep makes Ruby wonder whether some rules were made to be broken. If she indulges, even just once, Ruby’s loyal patrons might get the wrong idea. If she doesn’t, she may never stop fantasizing about where that tattoo leads. . . .
No complications: That’s all Derek Price, captain of the Dawn’s Light, asks of his consorts on shore, and he’s willing to pay handsomely for the favor. But of all the women at Madame Rouge’s, the one he wants is the only one he can’t have, for any sum. Derek is not a man with an abundance of patience. However, for a night with Madame Rouge, Ruby, whoever she is, he’s willing to make those lush curves and sapphire eyes come to him.
Revealing Ruby is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences. Don’t miss a preview of the next novel in the Bound and Determined series, Bound by Bliss.

I live in Washington, DC with my husband, kids, two cats and a changing menagerie of other small beasts.
I worked in both the arts and in the business world before giving into my love of story telling after the birth of my oldest -- although it wasn't until after the birth of my youngest when I suddenly had full-time childcare that it all came together for me.
I love discussing books -- almost any books at any time.
One of my great joys is having my children get old enough that we can all read the same things and talk. I am so happy that YA is the flourishing world that it is.
And of course I love Romance. I started back with Kathleen Woodiwiss and Johanna Lindsay and have never given them up since -- although there were a few slow spots along the way.
This is a very hot little novella about Madame Rouge and a sailor that comes to her brothel. This is a very steamy historical novella and I really enjoyed it. I did read the first book in this series and enjoyed it but I think this novella could be read as a standalone if you are looking for a short, erotic, historical story. The downside is that it doesn't have a resolved ending and ends in a cliffhanger, which I was not expecting. I hope that we'll get more of this story in the next book in this series.
I received an ARC from Loveswept via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! The expected publication date is January 20, 2015.
This is book 1.5 in the Bound and Determined series but reads as a stand alone novella. At only 98 pages my only expectation was to get lost for a short time in a quick story. This book did just that. My thoughts will be brief on this title because there is only so much you can say without telling the whole story in a novella.
Basically this story is about Madame Rouge (Ruby) and Derek Price a client she encounters at her establishment. Ruby has strict rules about fraternising with her clients but finds herself instantly attracted to Derek and his dragon tattoo. When he comes to her with a problem regarding her establishment, sparks fly and the chemistry is beyond description. The only things I can say to describe it is hot, hot, hot! There is not much of a plot to speak of but more a story of character development. Through their conversations (when not busy with other things) you get a sneak peak at their lives while still being somewhat kept in the dark. It left me wanting to know more about them. It ends with a cliffhanger and leaves you anxious for the next instalment.
Overall I enjoyed this brief story and and I am anxious for the next instalment to learn more about these two characters and where their story will go. I have a feeling that it will be even better than this sneak peek at them!
A nice, sensual introduction to the story of Ruby, the whorehouse madam and her unexpected attraction to a visiting sea captain. Very sexy, but not necessarily erotic.
I am so intrigued by Ruby and was so glad to see this novella on my kindle. Just as I thought, there is much depth to Ruby, or Madame Rouge as her clients know her. She maintains honesty and integrity in her business and is known for her discretion and confidentiality. Straight off I felt I was in her shoes, living a life that she did not plan but has resigned herself to, living it with grace and dignity in a world that looks down on her profession while secretly needing her existence. I found Ruby to be wise beyond her years and I longed for her to find her own happiness. When a sailor walks into her establishment looking for help for one of his crew, she is instantly drawn to him as he is to her. Their chemistry is powerful and palpable and when she finally decides to take a chance and give in to her desires, she is given a glimpse of what could have been. Their night is sensuous and intimate, both affected by each other, but realising their lives are on different paths.
Derek wasn't looking for a relationship, he likes to indulge in pleasures of the flesh and he initially sees Ruby as a beautiful way to scratch an itch. What he didn't count on is the emotional connection they have. His life is already mapped out, however, and Ruby is not a part of the family obligations he feels he must abide by. Derek was a very intriguing character I he still has so much to tell us and, that tattoo well, the pictures you will conjure in your mind after reading about it will be hot. Derek was a force to be reckoned with in the bedroom, commandeering in the bedroom, open and forthright about what he likes and how he likes it, while also being giving and in tune to what Ruby needs. Ruby compliments him beautifully and this really puts his heart in a bind. What will their future hold, if there is a future for them at all? I am intrigued.
Overall, I really enjoyed the next in this series and eagerly await the next installment. Revealing Ruby does leave us hanging, and when I finished the last paragraph I immediately looked on Goodreads to see if there will be another book for Ruby. I am overjoyed to see that there will be a conclusion to her story after the next book in the series. She still has so much to share with us and I hope she gets her happy ending.

I was intrigued by Ruby from the moment we were introduced to her character in Mastering the Marquess, but I never expected we would get her story! It was obvious from the care and compassion she showed Olivia that there was more to Madame Rouge than met the eye.
Revealing Ruby wasn’t overflowing with plot, but it did give us a good grasp of the main characters. Ruby is a shrewd business woman; she knows exactly what needs to be done to make her business thrive and keep her girls safe. But when it comes to herself, she isn’t quite as savvy. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say that really enjoyed the way Ruby’s past was written into the story. I liked Derek’s character, as well. He wasn’t as complicated as Ruby, but he did have his own issues that he needed to work out. It’s clear that he has some tough decisions ahead of him.
Smokin’ hot. That’s how the sex was in this one…smokin’ hot! Ruby and Derek could not get enough of each other, and I couldn’t get enough of them! I have to say, I really appreciate the way the author bucked the trend in this one. It seems that in most books I read where BDSM is involved, the main character realizes they are a Dominant or submissive, and then boom! So is every single person they’ve ever known. That’s not so in this series, and I think having the Madame be the one who isn’t into it made it more interesting.
If you’re looking for a quick, hot story where things are wrapped up at the end, you’re going to be disappointed here. Ruby and Derek have way too much going on in their lives for things to be resolved in a single novella. Not only do they have things to work out with each other (hopefully!), but they also have their own things they need to come to terms with. I just hope they aren’t a side story in another book in this series. I’d like to see them get their own novel, or at the very least, another novella where the focus is solely on them. If you enjoyed the first book in the series, I think you’ll enjoy this one.
Revealing Ruby is a novella so it's a very fast, not too complicated read. I love to read historical romances, but I've never read one with this kind of plot line before, so I was very interested to see what it would be like. It's a good story and I enjoyed reading it.
This book is an erotic romance, but it's not all just about sex. It is a very big part, but the whole book is tastefully written. Ruby is a madame, but her brothel isn't a dirty, depraved place. She cares about the women who work for her, she protects them, and even when Ruby and Derek do stop resisting each other, it's not completely meaningless sex to them. They have a connection not just physically, but emotionally as well.
Revealing Ruby had tender, sweet moments, moments that made my heart ache, and extremely HOT, sexy moments. I loved the sweet and tender moments the best, they melted my heart and made me smile. It's very well written and I really liked reading it!
Revealing Ruby is part of the Bound and Determined series, but this is a new couple and it's told from both Derek and Ruby's POV. The ending leaves you hanging because it doesn't necessarily end with a HEA. I don't know if this couple is going to have another book where they will get their happy ending or if this is one of those deals where the reader decides the final outcome. I hope the author does write another book for them because even if it is up to the reader to decide and I can say the HEA does happen, that doesn't satisfy me because I don't know for sure that it ends that way. That's just me though, so don't take my words to heart because it might be different for you and despite all of it, I truly don't regret reading this book. ~ Paige, 4 stars
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads"
I really enjoyed the writing and the story in book 1, so was sure that this would be good - and it certainly is.
Ruby was central to the plot in Mastering the Marquess and here we get a snippet of her true self, or is that selves. It is definitely hot, but also poignant and amusing. Captain Price, (oh what I would give for a picture of his tattoo) I am hoping we will meet again in future installments. Once again, good writing and interesting plot lines that had this reader up till late and wanting to know what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book to read & review for Wicked Reads.
3 stars.
Revealing Ruby is a lusty novella, with everything centering around the physical, with a thread of suspenseful mystery lying deep beneath the seduction.
Heavy on the description of the characters' attributes, the clothing, & their surroundings, but very light on the content of their character. Monologue & dialogue are essentially about wanting & how to get.
Physical chemistry & smoldering scenes ended with a cliffhanger, when the next book is a different set of narrators.
Recommended: Historical fans who aren't too picky about the details of the era. Erotica fans who enjoy sexy scenes with a very small slice of story.
Hot little story about Madame Rouge from Mastering The Marquess. I enjoyed the way that the author balanced the emotional and physical aspects of Ruby and Derek's relationship. But, damn that cliffhanger ending!! I hope there will be more soon.
I received a free e-galley from Loveswept via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Very well written historical erotica, again Lavinia Kent has managed to make these sensual encounters between two characters as much about their feelings as well as the physicality of their experiences. This actually runs parallel to Mastering the Marquis and has an open ending. Hopefully it continues on to the next book.
XD
Spoiler yak.. dikit doang lah reviewnya ^^
Ending buku ini sih, mereka pisah.. kr Derek musti balik ke Amerika dan Ruby jg tau diri lah.. lanjut buku full nya XD
"Intimacy was dangerous. it made one wish for things that could not be."
THE STORY: Ruby aka Madam Rouge is the madame of a brothel. She is called upon to deal with a dissatisfied customer. Captain Derek Price was a man with an intriguing dragon tattoo who attracted Ruby when she watched him with one of her house girls the night before. She spent more time than required checking on him. Derek is on his way to a marriage that will help his family but that he doesn't want. When he sees Ruby he wants her, but she insists that she doesn't take lovers from her brothel's clients. The intense attraction between Ruby and Derek is not something either really wants to walk away from.
OPINION: This is a hot little story. These are two people who do not want any intimacy from their relationship and yet cannot help but find kindred souls in one another. The story is intriguing in that the author is able to provide much insight about the characters while the focus of this novella is on the sexual relationship between the characters. In the same way that the relationship between Ruby and Derek is really more than sex even while they deny it, this book is more than the sexual acts that are depicted therein. I was glad that this novella did not end with a quick pat happily ever after because both Ruby and Derek have deep complications in their lives, but I will be seriously annoyed if there is not a resolution to their story in a future book.
WORTH MENTIONING: Readers should note that this novella ends on a cliffhanger and the relationship between Ruby and Derek is not resolved by the end of the novella. Although there is no explicit indication that there will be future installments of their story, I hope these two will end up with a happy ending.
FINAL DECISION: I was very intrigued by this novella. I found Ruby and Derek to be interesting characters and I was intrigued by the beginning of their story. I would give this a lower rating if I didn't believe that there is more to come of their story.
CONNECTED BOOKS: REVEALING RUBY is a novella in the Bound and Determined series. This novella can be read independent of the first book.
STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in order to provide an honest review the book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own.
Revealing Ruby by Lavinia Kent is a short Regency novella exploring the character of Madame Rouge (Ruby) and her relationship with Captain Derek Price. It's book 1.5 of the Bound and Determined series, following the first novel, Mastering the Marquess, where the character of Ruby is first introduced. This is just a snip of a story. The premise is that Ruby of Madam Rouge's House for Gentlemen of Taste (the best and most discreet house in London) has rules and number one is that she never patronizes her customers, no matter how many times they ask. Then in walks Captain Price, complaining that he has been gypped by one of her girls who was supposed to show up that morning to service his injured shipmate. Rudy patiently informs the Captain that he is mistaken, the services she offers to her customers only take place on the premises. He returns that evening for his refund and decides to rent out the lush room which previously belonged to the original owner, a duke's mistress. Underlying this transaction is an overwhelming sexual magnetism drawing the two main characters together. Ruby decides to give in to temptation and silently slips in to join Derek as he takes a shower bath. She arrives, not as the Madame, but as the woman beneath the costume. A woman who appears for only a short period of time each night before she retires. Together they express their passion with a marathon love making session which is described in graphic detail. In addition to the erotica, is a sharing of past events which provides a glimpse into their lives. Their disparate backgrounds leads to the question, "What comes next?" Can they continue to act upon their mutual attraction or does their current situations preclude any further contact? That's why this is only half a story, a teaser, promising a return of these characters in future books of this series.
There's not much plot, although there is a lot of erogenous lovemaking. Despite the author's intent to explore and develop the characters, I wanted a little more than she was willing to reveal. I guess I'm not the type of person who is happy with a one night stand, even if it consists of hot and torrid sex. Three stars.

Even madames have desires, something which Lavinia Kent put across very well in Revealing Ruby. There are just some things which tempt you sorely and if there's an opportunity to indulge, well why not?
Madame Rouge is a woman who doesn't mess in her own back yard, and for good reason. Ruby runs one of the top bordellos in London and having a relationship, no matter how discreet or casual, with any of her clients is simply asking for trouble. So, contrary to what people expect, she leads an almost monastic, celibate life despite all the sexual proclivities surrounding her.
That is, until she laid eyes on one of the most interesting men to walk through her doors - Derek Price. Apart from the novelty of him being an American, he is also a ship's captain, apparently one of the few that can afford a night in her establishment. He's also an extremely striking man with a strong libido and the stamina to match. And an intriguing body decoration which would blow anybody's imagination. Why wouldn't her curiosity about him as a lover be piqued?
What follows is one of the more erotic encounters I've ever come across. However, since it's a bridge between two novels, the story is obviously unfinished and leaves me wondering how it will end. There is a story to Derek that is hinted at but not elaborated on. Ruby's secret life - can she keep the secret for much longer? And not mentioning the obvious pull between these two would be downright wrong. I want to see how they can overcome the obstacles between them and the result of their final decisions. I'm thinking they may not be so final at this point.
Revealing Ruby may be a short novella, but the story spun by Lavinia Kent has the potential to be long. It would be a crime (in my mind, anyway) not to expound on this encounter and revisit it at a later point in the series, even as another novella. It just whets the appetite for more.
Revealing Ruby is a novella so it's a very fast, not too complicated read. I love to read historical romances, but I've never read one with this kind of plot line before, so I was very interested to see what it would be like. It's a good story and I enjoyed reading it.

Even though this book is 1.5 in the bound and determined series - it actually takes place before the first book. You are actually given a glimpse of what caused the fallout between Geoffrey and the Countess.
But this story is all about Ruby aka Madame Rouge aka Emma and Capt Derek Price. There is no HEA for these two and I am not sure there can be - don't get me wrong, I want them to have it - and I am sure Ms Kent can write it for them - but I imagine the HEA will take place years down the road.
I enjoyed getting to know Ruby better - this story had its fair share of steamy love scenes, but it also gave us a better understanding of Ruby's life - yet, still left us with unanswered questions.
Derek and Ruby are HOT together and I look forward to reading more about them.
So, if you like steamy love scenes and don't mind a cliffhanger ending - you will enjoy this book.

Our heroine Ruby is an English Madame who spends her evenings dressed to titillate as the notorious Madame Rouge. Well versed in seduction though she is, she does not personally entertain patrons. She practical, a bit world-weary, and though she is kind to her girls, she is also very firm in her rules.
Our hero Derek is an American sea captain. He is surly and somewhat impatient, but also showcases quite a bit of caring and integrity.
This novella, which takes place over a mere two days, is a super quick read. Though it is short, the amounts of character development and background are decent. And while though the book is undoubtedly erotica, it is well balanced in terms of storyline to sex scenes.
Derek and Ruby are interesting characters. Both content with their lives, they still have cause to question the extreme choices that have brought them to this point. Here we have two people who, unbeknownst to them, have never experienced true passion or intimacy. Thus they are a bit blindsided by their mutual attraction.
My one very minor criticism is that I am unsure as to whether this is meant to be a stand-alone title or not. The book finishes in a somewhat vague fashion, and in a way that leaves the story very open-ended. If you are someone who dislikes cliff-hangers, you might have a problem with this one. And although that is something I would normally complain about, it didn’t really bother me here. I would just like to know if the story will be continued or not.
For the sake of full disclosure it must be stated that I received this book, free of charge, from Netgalley.
From the very front cover which is absolutely eye catching and beautifully sexy in itself to the very last page, I thoroughly and I mean thoroughly enjoyed my historical romp with Ruby and Derek.
This book was so colourful and so well written it was truly easy to visualise everything including all the hot times! Boy can Derek keep it up all night or what, but what was the best thing is you didn't realise you'd just read three sex scenes pretty much in a row (actually scratch that because I lost count lol I am sure it was way more ;-) ), it's just done so well! I want me a Captain Derek David Price - what a dreamboat!
Lavinia's use of description was poetic at times and just class A penmanship. What I couldn't believe was the silly price in the UK for this book at the time of writing this review. So even though I have received a copy in return for an honest review I went straight off and bought it too and I will seriously be looking into all of Lavinia's other books as soon as our blog has some free time. I am smitten by her writing, this was like reading a very erotic Lesley Pearse novel, I hope that does Lavinia justice as LP in my eyes is a world class novelist of historical romance fiction so that's pretty much what I felt this read was like. I am so intrigued if we are to get more from Derek and Ruby. Will he turn his horse or not? I definitely want to know!
I honestly do very much look forward to more from Lavinia's mind and for a quick novella read this sure packed everything in and then some for a great piece of historical escapism. Loved It!
I loved it! It's not a new concept, but the contrast between the Madame and the real woman beneath the wig revealed the power vs vulnerability of Ruby. Who is she? Ruby or Emma? Captain Derek Price is the American in this historical romance set in England. He is the unpolished, raw, alpha male with a huge sexual appetite and a request for Ruby that she refused. Who is he really?
The banter, the sexy bathroom scene, and then there are the hints of the background stories for both characters. I'm not sure where this is heading, but I want to go there! Identity of both Madame and Captain seem to be deeper and more intriguing than their 'titles'.
Madame Rouge is a strong, independent female. She is as strong in personality as Captain Derek Price is. Their initial encounter defined the nature of their attraction and passion. She has a naughty secret as she spied on him. But she doesn't acquiesce to anyone, including him. Ruby (Madame Rouge) flirts with him and Derek give her an offer that she wants to refuse.
The writing style is crisp, descriptive, and keeps the story focused. Terrific sexy scene!! I don't often read historical romance fiction, but this is one that I enjoyed a lot. It's not a Young Adult or New Adult romance. I liked that, too.
The ending sets the scene for a suspenseful continuation in the next in the series. I'm intrigued with what the author started here. I want more!
NOTE: I received an ARC from NetGalley. This is my honest review and first time reading a book by this author.
Revealing Ruby (Bound and Determined #1.5) by Lavinia Kent is an Erotic Adult Historical Romance. 4.5 stars. I would have liked to seen a little bit more details about who Ruby (Emma Scanton) really is. Very well written. The words and the story flow easily. It is definitely erotic and entertaining. The scene between Geoffrey and the Countess that started the friction between them sets the timeline just before book #1. We get to see Ruby's thoughts and reaction to this scene. You do get a good idea of who Ruby is as she is slowly revealed through her interactions with Captain Derek David Price. But a lot of questions about her still remain. I have to admit, I am very intrigued and looking forward to reading Ruby's story in book #3 'Ravishing Ruby'. What I find interesting is that I am reading a Historical Romance. I don't normally like them at all. I have read quite a few and always found the writing to be flowery and overblown. That is NOT the case with Lavinia Kent's books. She doesn't overdo the speech of the time nor exaggerate the virtue of the timeline. Her writing of the way things were is more authentic. This makes her characters more human and easy to connect to. I highly recommend this book and series to ADULTS who love a great steamy romance no matter what the timeline!
Revealing Ruby, was a wonderful erotic historical novella, tha gives a greater insight into Madame Rouge who you firs meet in " Mastering the Marquess" . Madame Rougue( Ruby) runs one of the most prestigious brothels in London, catering to many and. Variety of needs but she does have some dry strict rules, her girls can not see an clients outside of the house, they must have a health inspection monthly and Madame Rougue never, ever services clients herself.
Captain Derek Pierce, being a new patron at Ruby's house is sent to a room with her girl Tilly, but since he is new Ruby decides to take a peek through the peep hole to ensure Tilly's safety but she finds herself enraptured with the likes of Derek and his dragsn tattoo. Ruby can not get the vision of Derek's wonderful body and incredible tattoo out of her mind , so when Drek shows up the next day with a complaint she finds it difficult to say no to him when he asks for her.
Ruby does eventually give in, but not as Ruby,or Madame Rougue, but as herself a young women Emma, who may run a brothel but has only had two lovers in the past and the sex between these two is hot and steamy , interspersed with some backround information on both Ruby and Derek leading unt abit of a Wistful could be cliffhanger ending, personally I am hoping for a continuation!

Lavinia Kent is a new-to-me author. I was lucky enough to get a review copy of Revealing Ruby thanks to the publisher through NetGalley. Revealing Ruby is a novella length story and I have to say the back cover blurb totally had me hooked.
I really loved the strength of the character of Madam Rouge-Ruby. She not only runs one of the most discreet houses of pleasure in London, but is strong enough to stand up to any man or woman that comes into her establishment. I love how protective she is of the woman in her care, not only with their health but their safety as well.
The mutual attraction between Ruby and Derek Price is obvious from their very first face-to-face meeting. I loved there was finally a man who tempted Ruby to break her no customers rule. I absolutely loved how honest Ruby was in telling Price she had spied on him the first night he was in her house and had seen his dragon tattoo.
I knew Ruby dressed up to become Madame Rouge, but didn't realize to what extent she changed her appearance until she removed all signs of Ruby. I loved that while she looked so completely different, Derek was immediately able to recognize her by her eyes. I felt like once all the outside trappings were removed, Derek and Emma (Ruby's real name) were a perfect match for one another. I found their time together to be both sexy and sweet and didn't really want to see it end.
Thanks very much, NetGalley, for providing an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I never expect a lot from a novella since it's so brief that usually there isn't time to accomplish much. But in this case I was pleasantly surprised. The plot is practically non-existent, but that's because Kent spends all her time building excellent characters in such a subtle way that the reader is enticed into their lives bit by bit until we realize that we are getting fairly familiar with them. In this story we continue to get to know Madame Rouge whom we met in the first book of the series. She was a strong secondary character then, and it was good to learn more about her. The hero is Captain Price, a customer of the brothel. The entire novella is made up of two parts--the foreplay where Ruby tries to fight her attraction to Derek. Then the second half is about their coming together, with strong sexual scenes interspersed with conversation, allowing us a peek into their private thoughts. I found it refreshing, as a reader, to be allowed to use my imagination rather than having everything spelled out, with all the t's crossed and i's dotted, as is the usual practice. I look forward to reading more from this author.

As I have mentioned in the past, I REALLY REALLY love me some historical smut! :) It always makes for quite an entertaining read for me. This litte series has really blown me away so far! Ruby and Derek were off the charts HOT together! OH MY *fans myself* ~ their sex scenes were absolutely scorching my kindle! But the story is not just sex sex sex. We get a window into Ruby's past to help us understand the strong woman she is today! Both Derek and Ruby have their own issues and baggage that they need to come to terms with in order to move forward into the future. This book DOES NOT wrap them up in a nice little bow. As a matter of fact, it's actually a cliffhanger of sorts. I really really hope that Ruby and Derek and Ruby DO have a HEA at some point in the future, but maybe not ... only Lavinia Kent knows that! But even without that HEA, I hope that Derek's story and Ruby's story both as individuals and as a 'couple' are either woven into future stories or written about in a future installment of their own :)
Revealing Ruby, is a seductive, erotic historical romance novella. Madame (Ruby) Rogue owns one of the finest establishments (brothel) in London. One fine day, a handsome American sailor Captain Derek Price presents himself and are immediately attractive to each other.
“It was him, the man with the dragon. The man who’d left her feeling so unsettled and wanting. Her eyes swept down his body.”
Derek has an enchanting sinful, fascinating Dragon tattoo and…Will they give in to there desires or break all their self imposed rules? Will they find true love? He has a secret.
“Emma still dreamed of a home of her own, a man of her own, a man who she feared would look remarkably like Derek in all her futures dreams.”
In closing, Derek is upon his horse deep in thought contemplating his future. Perhaps there may be a final book for Madame Ruby Rogue (Emma) and Derek. Writing proceeded flawlessly with the plot and character development. A passion filled, breath-taking Regency read. Definitely recommend to romance lovers seeking something different and unique to read. A review copy of this book was provided by the publisher. Purchased ebook on Amazon.

This was a short quick read that I liked and wanted more. Ruby is the Madame to one of the most discreet house of pleasure's in London and her rule number one rule is never entertain client's. Captain Derek Price was a man with an intriguing dragon tattoo who attracted Ruby when she watched him with one of her house girls the night before. She spent more time than required checking on him. Derek is on his way to a marriage that will help his family but that he doesn't want to. When he sees Ruby he wants her, but she insists that she doesn't take lovers from her brothel's clients. She invites him back for the evening to resolve his dispute and then, discarding her Ruby façade she becomes plain and simple Emma. She seduces Derek and they enjoy a night of intense passion. This book had some very hot sex scenes. This was a good book that I wished was longer. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Madame Rouge, also known as Ruby, rules her house of pleasure with a firm hand. She makes sure her girls are safe, that everyone follows the rules and she never entertains the clients personally. All of that changes when American Captain Derek Price enters her establishment. Will Ruby break her own rules for the sexy Captain? Derek believes in no attachments, but Ruby is making him rethink his long held beliefs.
Oh. My. This is one well-written steamy historical! Nom nom nom! Derek and Ruby step off the page and bring heat to any room. The writing is wonderful and the plot is well-done despite the brevity of the story. My one and only complaint is the ending. I didn’t like it. It’s possible Ruby & Derek will be mentioned in future books, but I would have loved to see some resolution to their situation instead of being left hanging.
Short but sweet erotic story. I have previously read and enjoyed Kent's Mastering the Marquess and was delighted when I found there was a story about Madam Rouge. Lavinia Kent has definitely made erotica more accessible to the historical romance reader and as someone who lives in the past, I appreciate it. I have found that most erotic novels tend to be contemporary so finding a series that fits my reading genre quirks most pleasing. And I actually quite enjoyed the cliffhanger ending. In this story it felt right. If Ruby and Derek ended up with a contrived happily ever after I probably would have thrown my Kindle at the wall. I'd pick it up right after and kiss it and apologize, but still. Lavinia Kent will definitely be one of my auto-buys from now on.
