Een grappig en maf boek over een beer die moet poepen en een rustig plekje zoekt. Ik vroeg me wel af waar die beer dan steeds poepte want ik kan me niet voorstellen dat hij steeds zoveel moeite doet voor dit gebeuren (immers dat is een dagelijkse gebeurtenis). Maar ik vond het hilarisch om te zien wat er gebeurde en hoopte dat de beer een rustig plekje kon vinden. Toen we op DAT STUK kwamen moest ik zo lachen, oh beer. Dat is geen goed idee. XD Het einde daar moest ik enorm om lachen.

Somebody greenlighted this book without checking in with a pediatrician, or anyone else who knows a lot about kids and pooping.
Just quickly - Barry Bear is looking for a private place to poop but he can't find one, so he holds it. Holds it to the point of discomfort. Along the way he slips in moose poop, gets squirted by skunks, and gets hit with bird poop. He doesn't stop to clean himself.
Ok. It is a known issue that kids can be shy about pooping at school - because it is not private, or because school bathrooms can be scary, or because a parent isn't there to help... all kinds of reasons. They can develop chronic constipation, or worse, because of this habit. Kids (and adults) have to learn to listen to their bodies - to go when they need to go, which is the exact opposite of what happens in this book. And in fact, kids (and adults) should learn not to associate shame with a normal bodily function. AND if you get poop on you, you should clean it off right away! What the heck, Barry??

Hihihi. Bayangkan kalau ada beruang yang terlalu pemalu untuk pup di alam terbuka sampai kerepotan cari toilet padahal lagi kebelet banget 🤣
Kurasa ini salah satu cerita anak yang isinya ya murni hiburan untuk mengembangkan imajinasi. Tanpa dibebani nilai moral tertentu. Kalaupun ada nilai moralnya ya... janganlah pup sembarangan, ya 🤣
Ada tokoh teman beruang di sini yang begitu pengertian. Mengetahui si beruang ini pemalu, dia nggak ngejek, melainkan memberi petunjuk soal tempat aman dan nyaman yang bisa dipakai pup. Tebak dong di mana tempatnya? Bikin heboh banget yang jelas. Hahaha.

Awal BIP Gramedia mengenalkan Hompimpa, aku udah langsung tertarik dan penasaran sama buku-buku Hompimpa. Kebetulan waktu itu, setelah hilal buku 'Beruang Pemalu Mau Pup!' sudah terlihat, aku langsung gercep beli dan aku nggak nyesel udah mengeluarkan uang untuk beli buku sebagus ini.
Buku 'Beruang Pemalu Mau Pup!' ini berbentuk hardcover dengan desain cover yang menggemaskan, font judul bukunya yang mewakili cerita. Belum lagi ilustrasi di dalam bukunya yang super menggemaskan, bikin betah memandang lama untuk satu halamannya. Aku suka sama pemilihan warna yang dipakai ilustrator untuk warna cover sampai pemilihan warna untuk ilustrasi isi bukunya karena pas baca bukunya berasa ikutan masuk ke dalam cerita atau dengan kata lain mengaktifkan imajinasiku.
Buku anak satu ini bisa menjadi alternatif kita sebagai orang tua untuk mengajarkan toilet training kepada anak, mengajarkan untuk memiliki rasa malu sekaligus mengajarkan tentang adab ketika mau memasuki ruangan. Sebenarnya semua pesan yang tersirat dari buku anak ini nggak hanya untuk anak-anak saja, tapi juga untuk para orang dewasa yang kadang suka buang air kecil di pinggir jalan atau sembarangan dan kadang nggak jarang menemui orang yang ketika masuk ke salah satu ruangan itu seenaknya (tanpa mengetuk pintu dan langsung buka pintu begitu saja).
Entah sudah berapa kali aku baca buku anak ini untuk diriku sendiri atau bacakan untuk anak dan ponakan. Ketika baca untuk diriku sendiri, aku sengaja berlama-lama memandangi ilustrasinya yang menggemaskan dan ketika baca untuk anak dan ponakan, aku selalu suka reaksi mereka. Mereka tertawa ketika ada scene yang lucu dari buku ini dan jadi belajar macam-macam hewan yang sebelumnya nggak mereka ketahui.
Bahkan, anak dan ponakanku tuh nggak pernah bosan bila dibacakan buku ini berpuluh kali. Yang mengejutkan, adikku yang hampir lulus SMA pun terhibur dengan buku anak ini. Intinya buku 'Beruang Pemalu Mau Pup!' selain ilustrasinya menggemaskan, ceritanya seru, nggak membosankan dan membangkitkan imajinasi, juga memberikan banyak pelajaran dan pesan moral untuk pembacanya.
Di dalam buku ini juga dilengkapi barcode Audiobook, kita tinggal scene dan tekan play, maka terputarlah audio cerita ini. Aku suka sama terjemahan ceritanya yang nggak kaku, justru pemilihan katanya pas. Di dalam buku anak ini pun tersedia dua bahasa, yaitu bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris, jadi pembaca dewasa bisa menambah kosakata bahasa Inggris, sedangkan untuk anak-anak bisa menjadi alternatif belajar bahasa Inggris.
Di cover depan dan belakang tertulis bahwa buku ini cocok untuk pembaca B3 atau untuk pembaca 6+, jadi untuk pembaca di bawah usia 6 tahun masih butuh pengawasan atau pendampingan orang tua. Cover buku anak ini memang hard cover, tapi ujungnya belum rounded menurutku, jadi hati-hati bila terpegang anak usia di bawah 6 tahun. Dan untuk kertas bagian isi ceritanya seperti kertas majalah, tapi lebih tipis.
Selama baca buku anak ini dan memosisikan untuk diriku sendiri, aku merasa related dengan Barry, tentunya akan sangat malu kalau pas buang air besar atau kecil malah terlihat orang lain. Tentunya kita juga paham betapa nggak nyaman ketika ingin BAK/BAB tapi toiletnya penuh atau letaknya jauh.
Aku rekomendasikan buku anak ini untuk para orang tua, buat yang suka baca buku anak, serta buat mereka yang pemalu sepertiku dan Barry.

Does a bear poo in the woods? is a hilarious new children’s picture book from Jonny Leighton and Mike Byrne. From the moment I saw this book I knew that we were going to have fun reading this story together, every time we read it we laugh out loud and because of this I think your children will enjoy joining Barry the bear on this funny adventure too.
Barry is shy, because of this he’s searching for a private place to poo in the woods. But he has a problem because the woodlands animals are not leaving him alone, making it difficult for him to find a quiet place. To make matters worse they also don’t seem to care where they poo, take for instance the woodpeckers who do it mid-air or the giant moose who causes Barry to slip in a pooey pile.
Poor Barry is desperate to find a sheltered spot, and follows a tip to find his own place to go away from prying eyes. While the shy bear is now so happy in the secluded cabin, there’s a fun twist as he’s joined by an unexpected visitor.

Beer moet nodig… poepen is een grappig prentenboeken over een beer die niet durft te poepen. Alle dieren in het bos kijken naar hem en dan lukt het Bob de beer niet om te poepen. Daarom gaat hij op zoek naar een rustig plekje waar niemand hem kan zien. Onderweg komt hij allerlei dieren tegen die wel durven te poepen. Maar dan krijgt hij een tip van een andere beer; verderop is een rustige, afgelegen plek waar je rustig kunt poepen. En ja, inderdaad! Maar dan wordt hij toch gestoord, diegene schrikt zich een hoedje van Bob. En het enige wat Bob denkt is: ‘Ik ben niet de enige die verlegen is!’
Dit prentenboek is zo ontzettend leuk bedacht. De illustraties ondersteunen de tekst en zijn mooi om naar te kijken. Kleuters zullen dit prentenboek sowieso geweldig vinden, want het gaat over poepen natuurlijk! Maar dit boek leent zich ook voor gesprekken over bijvoorbeeld verlegen zijn, iets niet durven. Het einde van het boek is echt om te lachen en met een grote glimlach sla je het boek dan ook dicht. Echt zeker een aanrader om voor te lezen aan kleuters! Maar voor oudere kinderen en zelfs volwassenen is het ook zeker leuk om te lezen.

Oh, goodness. This poo-ey book is a little crude and a little naughty, which children often like. The illustrations are cartoonish and golden. The story is sill - Barry the bear doesn't want everyone to see him poo in the woods. Where can he get a little peace? The surprise ending is silly and fun, and redeems a bit the awkward rhyming and phrasing. When read aloud, the phrasing is pretty bad. The potential is there, and for some it may be a win.

I’m going through my son’s favorite (read: my favorite) books to read before bed (he’s 10.5 months). I’ll be honest, he loves the art in this one but it doesn’t hold his attention too long. It’s still my favorite so we read it at least once a week.

The funniest book I've read in awhile. Modest bear must find just the right place to poo in the woods and not every place will do. Other animals poo and scatter on the bear. And the bear steps in poo until he finds just the right spot from Brenda Bigpaw. The ending is hilarious.

The illustrations were great. I just don't think we need another story about poo. There's no moral. There's no education. It's just a bear and poo - as the title states.
