Growing up on the Black Gulch Ranch, I should love everything about the cowboy life. The wide open prairies, the freedom to set my own schedule, and being with animals every day.
Except it isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be.
I’d rather spend my time playing video games than shoeing horses.
Or hanging with my friends instead of shoveling stalls.
So when my best friend, Scotty, said he was quitting his job working for his sister at her bar, I jumped at the chance to take his place.
I’ve known her since I was a kid, how bad would it be to work for her? At twenty-two, it’ll give me some good experience.
She’s older, wiser, and knows exactly how to push my buttons like an older sibling would.
Until she pushes too far and opens up something inside of me I never knew existed.
But when old threats grow at home, do I stay to help protect my family, or give in to the fiery saloon owner who’s determined to break me in all the best ways?
This series gets better with every book! Make sure you read this series in order. Sawyer is tried of Ranch life and wants to do something else. He accidentally gets hired part time making pizzas at Val’s Bar. Val is trying to find help that will stay and work at her Bar, now that her brother is off at college. Sawyer has caught her eye and there is major attraction between them. Let me tell you the spice went up a notch in this one. If you love brother’s best friend, teach me, and reverse age gap, then this is the book for you!
A reverse age gap, cowboy romance that I could not put down. Val and Sawyer were a perfect match for each other. I loved the dynamics of the storyline. The pacing is well done. And it's written well. There’s even a few jaw dropping surprises I had not expected nor saw coming. I can't wait for more. A brilliant page turner and a lovely addition to the series.
This series gets better with every book. Seriously criminally underrated.
Bridles gives you some scenes that took place in Badges from Sawyer’s POV, and I really liked that aspect. This book also took a bit of a heartbreaking turn, with the ranch being terrorized, but I can definitely see how that was necessary, and it’s going to propel the plot moving forward.
This book made me see Sawyer in a whole new light. It was nice to get inside his head and see him ready to step up. He has a submissive dynamic with Val, and that aspect was so well written. Sawyer learned so much about himself in this book, and I was totally here for it!
I kept waiting for Val to stop holding back and expecting Sawyer to end up being like other men who had hurt her. I was so happy when she saw the light. The spicy scenes between Val and Sawyer were HOT! I love a book with “teach me” moments and kink exploration. This book delivered on both fronts.
I was really looking forward to Sawyer's story - but then the fact it came with Val getting a book too, man it was perfect! Watching Sawyer's growth through the series had me wondering what his next step would be - he was just so different in his mindset from the other MMCs and cowboys we've read so far, he didn't share the same dreams and goals as the rest of them.
After reading the way M.A. Cobb was able to craft his story and incorporate Val and her backstory, I feel it meshed perfectly and can't imagine it any other way. Bridles both stood out and fit in exactly the way it needed to in the Black Gulch Series. As usual, we get to keep up with the rest of the gang as their stories carry alongside our main characters (something I always appreciate when an author does), and we get little sneak previews of what's still yet to come. Sign me up as I am eager as always for the next one!
MAAAAAAA!! This book was 🤌🏼🤌🏼 perfection! I love this cowboy series. This is a reverse age gap and yessss!
Sawyer is Mason’s son and we FINALLY got his story. And what a wild ride it was. MA had me laughing, cackling, giggling and kicking my legs, and she had me on the verge of tears.
Val is Sawyer’s best friend Scotty’s older sister. Val’s back story really pulls at the heart strings but sometimes I just wanted to smäck her. I definitely can’t wait for what comes next, because that last line was cruellll 🥹

Oh we're should I start with Sawyers story! Throughout all the books we have read about Sawyer but reading his story was absolutely amazing and I couldn't put the book down. I loved every second about Val and him. Now I need the next book because M.A how could you leave me hanging like that I need to know. This is definitely worth the read.
This was such an interesting read! I really enjoy this series and this addition was no different! I fell into the book and didn’t come up for air until I was done! Bridles really drags you into the nitty gritty and shows you sides of characters we have met prior!
Not my favorite from the series but good nonetheless.
Loved getting to know more about Sawyer & Val but this one really left questions regarding the ongoing conflict that’s flowed from book to book. It wasn’t really addressed here? Just very briefly mentioned that the younger McCullough brother was back in town, then a very short scene / chapter about the fire at the house…. But it wasn’t followed up on. Yes, people were lost and it’s said that the fire was set on purpose but then nothing?
Idk. Hopefully Sophia’s book brings some answers that I desperately want.

OH MY GOD! i absolutely loved this book! The beautiful relationship between sawyer and val was so amazing to watch and i loved every second! I loved seeing sawyer grow into himself. This book will forever good a special part of my heart. And THE CLIFFHANGER!?! LIKE WHAT?! I NEED MORE NOW
Didn’t love it. I was interested to see how Cobb managed the reverse age gap. I enjoyed the characters and the continuation of the overall story… but the references to “little boy” as a sexy nickname gave me the ick. (And to be fair, “little girl” used that way does the same thing. Ew.)
Bridles is Book 6 in M.A. Cobb's Black Gulch Ranch Series. It can be read as a stand alone, but you should most definitely read the entire series!!! Bridles is a fast paced, reverse age-gap, best friends sister, cowboy romance that I could not put down. I absolutely devoured Sawyer & Val. This book was so good! I love M.A. Cobb's writing and Bridles is no different, it is full of spice and jaw dropping surprises. I can't wait for the rest of the series! I need answers!
Oh what a good boy. Sawyer yearns for something more but not sure what that something is. Val yearns to be tough but lack of connections is finally catching up with her. These two seem to complete each other in the most delicious way possible and end up being exactly what they need. However, when it comes down to it, will they still choose each other? Also, WHEN ARE WE GOING TO FIND OUT WHO IS MESSING WITH BLACK GULCH!!!!!
M.A Cobb told me that this was unlike the rest of her books in this series and it most definitely was. I have been looking forward to Sawyer's book, to get to know him as a character and he is just as much of a sweetheart as I thought he'd be! The pairing between him and Val is so random but it works! I love how she was able to overcome her tragic past and put it aside for him. As always, the spice was so good and having Val take charge was a nice twist! This book didn't have as much suspense regarding the targeting of Black Gulch but it did have a crazy plot twist in the end and I can't wait to solve the mystery!
