Dating the Drummer Trilogy #3

This is the conclusion of McKenna and Mav and after book 2 and the ending I wasn't sure where they would go from there.
He walked away. "Please, Mav, don't do this to me. To us"

Mav really had some demons to battle and going away to Costa Rica to do that really seemed to help him in all his different relationships.

McKenna was focused on finishing up her law degree and taking the bar while still dealing with Bran being back in town.

Some truths come out that change everything or does it?

4.5 stars
I have so enjoyed this series. Gut wrenching at times.

This was a perfect end to Mav and McKenna's story. The whole trilogy was emotional but so worth the read. Also seeing more of Derek and Allegra and their future was a bonus. The chemistry was good and it was well written.

Resilient Rhythms by Gina Azzi, book three in the Dating the Drummer Trilogy, is an emotional roller coaster, heartfelt conclusion of Rock legend Maverick “Mav” Tate as he battled his demons and law student, McKenna “Kenny” Byrne, conquers her fears; as they create a life together that is challenging, beautiful, full of hazards, yet fulfilling. Filled with non-stop drama from start to finish, it was incredibly emotional, displaying how much this couple has grown both together and individually.

After the cliffhanger we were left with in the previous book, we didn't expect the ease with which the couple would reconcile. We anticipated a lot of hurt and resentment between them, but surprisingly, they were able to communicate openly and honestly. The development of their relationship was heartwarming. Mav's efforts to court McKenna along with their newfound open communication were truly touching. Both characters showed vulnerability and took risks for the sake of love. They started as broken individuals, but witnessing their transformation as a couple was truly beautiful. As the drama intensified, McKenna found herself in need of bodyguards once again, but this time, she fought back with determination and strength.

Mav and Kenny, with their unwavering bravery, haven't backed down from the trials and tribulations that faced them throughout the last year. Instead, they have faced each occurrence, tackling the hardships with courage, rising triumphantly above them. It takes fortitude to overcome their obstacles, and they found strength in their family and friends, realizing that their mutual support is invaluable, as is their support for each other. Maverick's undying love and support of his wife never lagged. He always believed in her, an admirable trait in a husband whose demons were fierce. Mckenna endured great struggles with her past but overcame her inner trauma and turmoil to achieve her greatest accomplishment, aside from marrying Mav. Mav and Mckenna fought so hard for and won their HEA, forging a bright future.

We were rooting for Mav and McKenna's happily ever after. Their journey back to each other had its share of ups and downs, but the time apart allowed them to heal individually, strengthening their bond as a couple. Their chemistry was breathtaking. The surprises throughout the story kept us engaged, and the emotional ending brought tears to our eyes. This book raised a range of emotions, offering drama, love, suspense, healing, second chances, deep friendships, chemistry, heartache, and unexpected twists. The involvement of characters from the entire series added richness to the narrative, showcasing the support system they had built.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Resilient Rhythms the final chapter to Dating the Drummer trilogy series by Gina Azzi is here.
Book 3 has us jumping back into the story, continuing from the cliffhanger of book two Tainted Tempos, through the continuation of Mav and Mckenna’s dual POVs.

Despite having survived scandals and weathering heartbreak, it didn’t mean or stop Resilient Rhythms the finale to Mav and Mckenna’s story from being smooth sailing.
Especially given how the ending of Tainted Tempos had left their relationship hanging in limbo.

Their journey again continued with putting them through the paces, plus with the addition of non-stop drama, was it any wonder they veered across ups and downs, paving the highs and lows from all that they had to navigate through. Both individually and together, given the problems and issues that were still very much unresolved.
The biggest being Mav and Mckenna’s relationship, due to where it and they stood at the beginning of Resilient Rhythms. While some coming from outside, given the subplots that still had yet to be resolved, involving outside characters.

Just like the previous books from the series, book three was also quite an emotionally charged journey.
Then again it was to be expected, particularly due to all the hard work, sweat, tears and blood, both Mav and Mckenna had to put into rebuilding their relationship. Especially given all the raw, nitty grittiness of their emotions and feelings exposed within some tough subject matters they were still navigating through, particularly in Mckenna's case.
Something author Gina showcased thoroughly well in Mav and Mckenna’s inner monologue within their POV chapters.
Whether it be from owning up to their mistakes, confronting issues from their past and present and facing it head-on or making sure to communicate without any hesitation. We were able to see their relationship slowly evolve from those changes and grow into something much more, that was stronger than ever before and beautiful. Resulting in Mav and Mckenna being there for each other in any and every way possible more than ever before.
They were each other’s endgame and it was shown and proven all through out.

“He’s my happily-ever-after…”

I have to say despite this being Mav and Mckenna’s story, it was nice seeing the inclusion of the secondary characters in the form of friends, family and in Mav’s case fellow band mates from The Burnt Clovers.
It allowed us insight into those characters, who hopefully will be have potential stories to come in the future. And giving us updates for those who already had their story told, like Derek and Allegra in their own series The Burnt Clovers trilogy. Yet never fully taking away the spotlight from Mav and Mckenna.

All in all, Resilient Rhythms made for a wonderful read in showcasing the final steps to the trials and tribulations Mav and Mckenna had to navigate within their final chapter to reach their HEA. Leading to author Gina Azzi delivering an overall deeply emotional journey that was full of heart, all the while ensuring to tie up all the loose ends once and for all to Dating the Drummer trilogy series. Especially with the epilogue that was included.

Wow! The conclusion to Mav and McKenna's story was filled with non-stop drama from start to finish, and it was incredibly emotional. It truly showcased how much this couple has grown both together and individually.

After the cliffhanger we were left with in the previous book, we didn't expect the ease with which the couple would reconcile. We anticipated a lot of hurt and resentment between them, but surprisingly, they were able to communicate openly and honestly.

The progression of their relationship was heartwarming. Mav's efforts to court McKenna and their newfound open communication were truly touching. Both characters showed vulnerability and took risks for the sake of love. They started as broken individuals, but witnessing their transformation as a couple was truly beautiful. As the drama intensified, McKenna found herself in need of bodyguards once again, but this time, she fought back with determination and strength.

The diverse cast of characters added depth to the story, and it was heartening to see the improved relationship between McKenna and her father. The involvement of characters from the entire series added richness to the narrative, showcasing the support system they had built.

This book evoked a range of emotions, offering drama, love, suspense, healing, second chances, deep friendships, chemistry, heartache, and unexpected twists.

Following Mav and McKenna's journey was a rollercoaster, but witnessing them confront their demons and emerge stronger was truly rewarding. Mav's (McSwoony) endearing nickname for McKenna, "Beauty," added a sweet touch to their relationship.

“I love our story because it’s ours. And that’s all that matters.”

What an unforgettable emotional journey Mav and Mckenna have taken us on. In Resilient Rhythms, their story crescendos into a powerful and deeply satisfying conclusion—one that feels both earned and cathartic. These two didn’t just stumble into their happily ever after; they fought for it, bled for it, and grew into it. And every step of that journey was worth the wait.

“For me, I will always be Mckenna Bryne.”

The cliffhanger from the previous book left me absolutely gutted. I genuinely didn’t know how they could recover from such heartbreak, and for a moment, I doubted whether healing was even possible. But Mav and Mckenna proved me wrong in the most beautiful way. They showed that love isn’t just about passion and chemistry—it’s about resilience, accountability, and the courage to face your own flaws. Watching them confront their past, own their mistakes, and choose each other again and again was nothing short of inspiring.

“He’s my steady in the storm we’re both wading through.”

Their growth was palpable. They learned to communicate without fear, to support one another without conditions, and to rebuild trust brick by brick. The way they fought their demons—both individually and as a team—was raw and real. It wasn’t always pretty, but it was honest. And that honesty made their love story all the more breathtaking.

“He proves to me that even when life is a mess, I can count on him.”

Resilient Rhythms gave me everything I needed: closure, hope, and a reminder that love, when nurtured with patience and vulnerability, can survive even the darkest storms. Mav and Mckenna’s journey is a testament to the kind of love that doesn’t just endure—it transforms. Their story will stay with me for a long time, a shining example of how two broken souls can come together and create something whole.

Loved this ending to the Dating the Drummer series!

Wow… I feel like I have been on the ride of the century with these two. I absolutely loved Mav and McKenna’s story, and I am so happy that I got to see their love story grow.

This book picks up right after Mav had delivered the divorce papers to McKenna, and now both of them are shattered. They love each other, but Mav feels like she deserves better than him after his stint in rehab. Mav heads down to his house in Costa Rica, and Mckenna start to try to pick up the pieces of her life in Boston in the brownstone, alone, while trying to finish off her law degree. Now that Bran is gone, she feels better about school, but still misses Mav desperately. When he shows up at her graduation, she is over the moon – especially when he suggests them dating again. Then Mav tells her that they are still married since he didn’t actually sign the divorce papers himself before sending them to the lawyer, so they are starting again at their pace. He even buys the brownstone next door, so he can have a place that is theirs.

Just when they feel like they can start their lives together again, Bran shows up like a booger on picture day by leaving dead flowers on her doorstep or leaving a note on her windshield while she’s at the grocer. Mav is beside himself and amps up her security to keep her safe, especially when no one is able to find Bran. Mckenna, ready to do what she should have done originally, sees a different lawyer about pressing charges… but with his family connections, will that even stick? What will they do if he continues to harass her? Will he amp that up to more than what he’s been doing?

You’ll have to read this fantastic book to find out for yourself exactly what happens!!! But let me tell you, I loved-loved-loved the ending to this book and how their love story ends!

Mav and Mckenna have been through so much and I’m so glad they finally get the HEA they deserve. “Resilient Rhythms” is a heartfelt, powerful and action packed conclusion to the “Dating the Drummer” trilogy.

The story picks up where we last left Mav and Mckenna, they are at a crossroads with their relationship, thinking that they are doing what is best for each other. The two still have a lot of feelings for each other and a lot of things to work through personally and then as a couple. Months go by separately and as Mav works on himself, he wants Mckenna back and will do whatever he needs to do to prove to her they are meant forever. And when her past comes back, he will also do what he needs to do to protect her.

Over the three books in this trilogy, Mav and Mckenna have grown so much individually and as a couple. The character growth was spectacular and showed just how much they were meant for each other. Mav was a tortured soul who had the rockstar life and had been living it to the fullest. He was trying to fill a void with anything he could but Mckenna was the missing piece he needed. Mckenna is a kind and genuine person who stood through Mav when it got tough but also protected herself to keep getting hurt. She knew Mav was genuine in wanting her and their marriage but made sure to take things slow so they could build things up again. The connection and chemistry that were still there but needed a slow burn to make sure they were in it forever. The action of Mckenna’s past had me reading nonstop because I couldn’t wait for her to get the justice she deserved. The ending was perfect for them and I enjoyed this trilogy so much.

We’ve survived the scandals.

Mckenna, she deserves all the love she wants
Maverick, he wants her to have only the best

Quote:”I will never take your love for granted, ... You are my pinnacle, Mckenna, and I am so grateful to share this life with you.”

Maverick, Mckenna and their turbulent journey to a beautiful happy end

This is the last installment from the trilogy of Mckenna and Mavericks turbulent journey. This rockstar romance is one of my favorites. It has emotions, suspense and all the conflicts of life and what it throws at you.
Maverick only wants the best for Mckenna, even if that might not be him. So he tries to do the right thing, but one look and he knows that he can’t walk away from her.
If she still may want him.
Mckenna is torn between love and devastation. She wanted things to do in the right way and with a right mind, but Mavericks went overboard. But she still loves him.
But is love enough when you already had such a hard and troubled up and down relationship?
In this last book a lot happens in a short timeframe, but it never felt rushed or wrong. Everything is exactly as it was always supposed to be. And the development in their relationship and of everything else was amazing and perfect. Beautiful ending.
Hopefully we get the promising journeys of Levi and Jameson too.

Wow! What a conclusion to this trilogy. Mav and Mckenna's story. I wasn't sure this story had anywhere to go. We all must have had the same reaction when he walked away. But I'm so pleased that this story had the outcome that it did.

I can't speak on anything that happens, as its something you definitely need to read first hand. This trilogy is more than a bumpy ride, its a train wreck and so heartbreaking at times. I absolutely love this author and her writing. And I couldn't recommend this trilogy more.

Mav and Kenny had my heart breaking at the end of the last book. This one, though? This is all about finding yourself. Growth. Learning to love yourself. Letting others love you. And accepting that the good life is yours to be had also.

Mav does a lot of self-reflection here. A LOT. He’s determined to figure out why he tries to wreck things. He knows he’s wrecked the best thing he’s ever had, but he’s also all about figuring out how to get it back. It helps that we have a bit of a Sweet Home Alabama (movie, not song) situation here, too. And that Kenny is willing to speak to him. To try with him. And to let herself fall all over again.

This is the perfect way for this couple to end up. Honestly. They’ve been through the misery and came out stronger than ever. They help others find their strength along the journey. And they have me hoping for more of them in the future when someone else finds the happiness he deserves.

Resilient Rhythms is the third and final book in the Dating the Drummer Trilogy. You need to have read the first two books in order to understand what's going on in this one as it picks up immediately after the cliffhanger in book two and repeatedly refers to events that occur in the first two stories. Azzi's signature angst and drama are present, but are well balanced by the growth and maturation of both Mav and Mckenna. The chemistry is top notch and the two work to be strong individually which allows them to develop a healthy relationship with effective communication. Supported by the members of the Burnt Clovers and other favorite Azzi characters, the story is fast paced and has the reader rooting for Mav and Mckenna to resolve their issues. I am so happy with the resolution of their story! It was fun to visit with familiar characters and feel the love that this group of friends have for each other!

Heartwarmingly addictive! With the final book in Maverick and Mckenna's Dating the Drummer trilogy, Azzi delivers a powerful reconnection of family, love and lifelong friendships. I felt like since there was a longer gap between book 2 and 3, there should have been a bit more detail put into catching the reader up on everything that had happened with this couple as well as their friends and family previously. Once I reacquainted with them, I was quickly back to pulling for them to get their drama worked out and realize what they had right in front of them. I was satisfied with the outcome and really enjoyed going along for the ride with this whole band and their found family! Great characters, in depth emotional connections and lots of drama along the way to their happily ever afters. I highly recommend this whole trilogy as well as The Burnt Clover series before this one to anyone who enjoys a dramatic rock star series with lots of angst, love and endless friendships.

I have patiently waited for the conclusion of Maverick’s and McKenna’s story. This book was beautifully written and brought out all the emotions, from heartbreak to sheer joy, in me. I loved this series and devoured each book as soon as I received it. This book is part of a series and needs to be read in order because it is a continuation and ending for Maverick and McKenna. I thought this whole storyline was original and page-turning. I loved the drama, angst, grovel, and the push and pull the characters went on throughout their story. Their growth was amazing between each book, and in this book, it was epic. Their chemistry was stronger and even more intense than in the previous books. I loved the journey this series took me on, and I am sad that their story is over, but I look forward to what comes next!! Gina Azzi is an amazing author; she creates amazing stories that will have you laughing, crying, and fist-pumping while reading her books. -By Brooke

This is the third book in Mav’s and McKenna’s story. It was so hard seeing all the tragedy Mav and McKenna went through. I was glad to see that Mav went to his house in Costa Rica to try and get his head in the right space to be a better, brother, band mate and husband. My heart went out to McKenna as she was devastated by what happened between her and Mav. I was glad the two took it slow to get to know each other now that they both had been going to therapy. I can’t begin to know how McKenna felt when Bran started sending her threatening notes and had to have a body guard everywhere she went. There were some terrifying scenes that had me on the edge of my seat, and my heart went out to McKenna. It was also good catching up with everyone. If you read the two previous stories, then you have to read this book. I strongly encourage you to read it.

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐡𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐦𝐬 is the third book in the Dating the Drummer Trilogy by Gina Azzi, and picks up right where 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬 left off! Talk about an epic conclusion! This couple has been through the perils of trauma, addiction, and more, and the drama does not let up one iota in this final ride! However, Mav and McKenna’s resilience and strength shine through the most in their ability to communicate through the chaos! Thank you, Gina Azzi! I cannot tell you how much I love to see two adults talk through their issues. The twists and turns, high emotion, chemistry, enduring love, and steadfast friendships had me deep in my own feelings as I rode the wave of the plot with them. No matter how much time passes between books, I am immediately enamored with all these characters, who are family in all the ways that matter. I just hope we haven’t seen the last of the Burnt Clovers!

This conclusion to Mav and Kenny's story was a really satisfying read. I needed a reminder of how the previous book ended before diving in so re-read the last few chapters of the previous book to tee it all up again and then was able to pick it up nicely. The story kept me hooked throughout and was able to continue at a nice steady pace without feeling rushed at any point thanks to the 3 part nature of the books. This was particularly satisfying at the end when it didn't seem rushed or abrupt in any way. We had a decent wrap up of everything that was going on with Bran over what seemed a realistic time frame.

As expected from the author, the writing was good and easy to read. Everything was handled sensitively and I really enjoyed this series and am looking forward to more with the other Burnt Clovers... Jameson in particular.

This is the final chapter in the Dating the Drummer trilogy, and it follows on from Tainted Tempos which left us wrecked and Mav and McKenna far from a good place. There’s a tone of hope and rekindling throughout this as Mav and McKenna fight their way back to each other.
“A soft smile trails over her mouth and then, she presses up on her toes and crashes into me. We come together instantly – like two magnets drawn together no matter the force trying to keep them apart.”
There is also plenty of drama moving the story along as we have not seen the last of Bran. His evil casts a shadow over our couple but doesn’t keep them down this time. The story ends on a positive note in many ways, and it’s satisfying to see this couple get to their HEA after the rollercoaster of emotions and drama they endured along the way.
A great ending to a fabulous trilogy.

5 Star Review Resilient Rhythms (Dating The Drummer Trilogy #3) by Gina Azzi

Resilient Rhythms is the final book in Mckenna (Kenny) Byrne and Maverick (Mav) Tate, The Burnt Clovers drummer trilogy.

If you haven’t read the previous books then STOP as these must be read in order.

After the cliffhanger in the last book I could not wait to see what the author had in store for our couple.

This book was everything I was expecting and more. The drama was at fever pitch at times and emotions ran high.

This is a trilogy that you need to experience for yourself. The growth of the characters over the three books was intense and I had a hard time putting this one down when real life got in the way.

Resilient Rhythms, the third installment in this trilogy, was a wild and bumpy ride for a rockstar who battled his demons and a law student who conquers her fears, creating a life together that is challenging, beautiful, full of hazards, yet fulfilling. Mav and Mckenna fought so hard for and won their HEA, forging a bright future.

The Dating the Drummer Series gently covered a sensitive subject in a way that was not triggering, showing compassion while healing. In the outcome of Resilient Rhythms, the author demonstrates tenderness through her characters' handling of what could be a destructive event. The positive resolution for this beautiful couple is a testament to the power of love and resilience, leaving the reader feeling hopeful.

Fantastic Finale

Oh my goodness, I loved this final installation for Mav and Makenna.

While there were moments that had my stress levels through the roof, there were also tender moments that made me sigh in relief.
After the end of book two, I had no idea what was in store for these two, but I couldn't have been happier with how everything worked out.
And while there were things that happened in this book that I wouldn't even wish on my worst enemy, the love, chemistry, and connection between Mav and Makenna made it all worth it.

There were also a few beautiful surprises thrown in that added to my adoration of this crew, I can't wait to read more of their stories!

Loved this trilogy, and everything that happened in this third book felt right. The villain got what they, rightfully, deserved. Kenna was able to move forward and heal. Best of all Mav got the girl he loved, and was there to help her when times were rocky.

This entire band continues to capture my attention, and I just want to stay with them a bit longer.

Cannot wait to see what Gina writes next.

Wow, just wow! Love, love, love, McKenna and Maverick! They found their soulmate when they came together. Their relationship has been like a true roller coaster ride, but neither one wanted to get off. They just needed to find themselves before they can give their love to the other. Love all these characters. Bran didn’t get near what he deserved, but karma will prevail. Hope there will be more from this crew. They have become like good friends.

Resilient Rhythms is the final book in the Dating The Drummer Trilogy and it was a bittersweet read. Please read this trilogy in order as each book starts right why the last one finished. I was excited to get the conclusion to McKenna “Kenny” Byrne and drummer Maverick “Mav” Tate’s story and this book was everything I expected.
This trilogy needs to be read with no preconceived ideas so all I’m going to say is I loved everything about Kenny and Mav’s journey. I was drawn in to this raw and gritty emotional story, I swooned and I held my breath as I cheered this couple on.

This book was angst, but also all that I had hoped for Mav and McKenna!

I felt the longing and their struggle in my heart as they navigated life to be with one another.
This was a beautiful end to a fantastic trilogy!

I love that Maverick and Mckenna get their HEA finally! And I love how it happened. It wasn’t another book of strife between the two of them. But it was rather a book about them finding their way back to each other and learning how to lean on and trust each other. Great series! Great ending!

5 happy ending stars!

This book finishes off McKenna and Mav’s story!
When we last read about these two, they were breaking up and separating to get some distance and clarity.
McKenna is focused on finishing her law school and trying to make peace with Mav’s decision and try not to stress over Bran lurking around.
Mav clearly wants to get back into a positive routine but he’s wishing that things were better between him and McKenna but as he takes time off to regroup he feels like it’s not going change unless he’s face to face with McKenna again.
So that’s when our story starts again with new beginnings and mending the relationship between McKenna and Mav but along the way they deal with Bran and many discoveries are brought to light over that situation but not too spoil too much but I will say it’s a good story and the many blessings that come to these two are plentiful and sweet.
Kudos to Gina for finishing this series with a bang!
