The Library of Lost Dreams - Journey into the future

Rate this book
Hey you! Back for more? I knew you were brave.

Dahlia is all grown up and the new Keeper of Stories. But she barely has time to settle in before a new nightmare crawls from the city’s darkest corners. This shadowy creature isn't just hunting in the dark; it's devouring magic itself, leaving a trail of fear and silence across a futuristic world.

With her mentor Astra captured and the Children of Destiny hunted, Dahlia is forced to call for the only backup she can herself. A younger, messier, pajama-wearing version from the past, armed with an imagination so untamed it’s practically a superpower.

Now, two Dahlias must team up. One is bound by rules, the other by pure, chaotic creativity.

Can a Keeper from the future and a girl from the past stop the darkness before it devours everything? Or will they discover that the greatest monster of all was born from a fear they both share?

Get ready for a journey through time filled with mechanical owls, scrap-metal monsters, and a secret that will change everything.

P.S. Dahlia has a new sidekick. A fluffy, unexpected, and very... opinionated one. He's been promoted to Keeper's Helper-Secretary, a title that mostly involves demanding snacks and offering expert foot-massage services. So far, there have been no takers.

This is the third book in "The Library of Lost Dreams" series, and it delivers a powerful conclusion. Dahlia has fully matured and has just stepped into her role as a Keeper of the Library. When Astra is taken, Dahlia must bring her ten-year-old self into the future to confront a dark monster that has never been recorded in the archives. This is their most formidable challenge yet. The chapters are succinct, accessible, and clear, making it essential to read the books in order. The illustrations are stunningly beautiful! This final volume stands out as the best in the series. The stakes are incredibly high as Dahlia faces a shadowy creature that is actively devouring magic in a captivating futuristic world.

The brilliant twist of introducing the "younger, messier" version of Dahlia sets this book apart. The dynamic between the structured Keeper of Stories and her chaotically creative younger self is not only engaging but also enriches the adventure.

The author skillfully employs the time-travel element to delve into a profound internal conflict: combating fear and self-doubt. The revelation that "the greatest monster of all was born from a fear they both share" serves as a powerful emotional payoff.

Filled with mechanical owls, scrap-metal monsters, and a gripping mystery, this conclusion is nothing short of phenomenal. I strongly recommend this series to anyone seeking thrilling fantasy that conveys an important message about embracing your whole self. It is the perfect conclusion to an outstanding trilogy.

The most impactful moment for my great-granddaughter and me was when she proclaimed that even little kids can significantly support adults and that adults sometimes feel fear just like children. There is nothing more powerful than a child recognizing their own worth and inherent power.

Since we've embarked on timeless journeys, let's go into the future.
Dahlia is now taking us towards dreams, ideals, plans or responsibilities that she is ready to realize.
We can be inspired by her courage and thus we can do like her, to do what we like, to follow our dreams and ideals, without fear and with enthusiasm and courage. Like any human being, she has friends, mentors, idols, but also an extraordinary family.
Unfortunately, obstacles, rivals, enemies and malice exist here, as everywhere.
But Dahlia sets out to fight in life with courage, knows her qualities and is not afraid of problems or responsibilities.
So let's go alongside her and contribute as we can to her story, but also to our story at the same time.
Congratulations Dahlia, you are amazing, 5 big golden stars.
We look forward to your next adventures.

Dahlia has grown since the beginning of the series. As Astra is getting older, it’s time to pass on the title of “ Keeper” to Dahlia.

When Astra suddenly disappears, Dahlia and Sol, her furry companion, realize something dangerous is luring in the shadows. Something that absorbs power… Something that shouldn’t be awake …

This is another gripping adventure for Dahlia and Sol, they will have to do whatever it takes to protect the world from this danger.

Lovely graphics and a great story combined! A must read for parents together with their adventurous kids! ☺️.

Dhalia is a young woman now and has just become a Keeper of the Library. When Astra is taken away from her, she brings her younger self to help her fight the new monster who devours magic.
This was an intense read, where your heart beats fast with worry for Dhalia and the Keeper’s lives.
It was a perfect conclusion to a beautiful fantasy series, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This final volume is an absolute triumph and easily the best of the series! The stakes are incredibly high with Dahlia facing a shadowy creature that is literally devouring magic itself across a fascinating futuristic world.
The genius twist of bringing in the 'younger, messier' version of Dahlia is what truly sets this book apart. The dynamic between the rule-bound Keeper of Stories and her chaotically creative past self is captivating and adds so much depth and fun to the adventure.
The author masterfully uses the time-travel element to explore a powerful internal conflict: fighting fear and self-doubt. The realization that 'the greatest monster of all was born from a fear they both share' is a brilliant emotional payoff.
Filled with mechanical owls, scrap-metal monsters, and a truly gripping mystery, this is a phenomenal conclusion. Highly recommend this series to anyone looking for thrilling fantasy with an important message about embracing your whole self. A perfect end to a perfect trilogy.

You're gonna love it if you're into time travel and cool monsters. It's a blast, especially if you're into magic! Maybe we'll even meet the "Old Keeper". Seriously, you gotta check this series out.

What Did I Just Walk Into?
Dahlia’s all grown up, officially the Keeper of Stories, and about five minutes into her new role before chaos comes calling. When a shadow creature starts devouring magic across a futuristic city, Dahlia has to rescue her mentor and save the archives. Her solution? Summon her ten-year-old self from the past. Because when the world’s ending, why not add some time-travel-induced therapy to the mix?

Here’s What Slapped:
This finale is a glowing, heartfelt end to a series that’s only gotten better with every book. The concept of “you versus your younger self” is both brilliant and beautifully executed. It turns a fantasy adventure into something deeply personal. The world is inventive—mechanical owls, scrap-metal monsters, and time-twisting chaos—and the emotional beats land perfectly. Dahlia’s growth is satisfying, her courage believable, and Sol the fluffy sidekick earns every snack he demands.

What Could’ve Been Better:
Absolutely nothing. Okay, maybe just one more chapter because I didn’t want to say goodbye.

Perfect for Readers Who Love:
• Time-travel fantasy with heart and humor
• Talking sidekicks who think they’re in charge
• Short, gorgeously illustrated adventures
• Stories that teach courage without losing the fun
• Magic that’s really about self-acceptance

A touching and imaginative conclusion to a wonderful series. The Library of Lost Dreams – Journey into the Future reminds readers young and old that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is face the version of yourself you used to be. A perfect ending to a perfect trilogy.

I received a copy of this book to review and it has not impacted the outcome of this review in anyway. The opinions stated are mine and mine alone.

In Journey Into the Future, we see the continuation of the children’s fantasy/adventure series Library of Lost Dreams by A. Goanta. Dahlia is grown up now and when the Library is under threat again, she must fight off this mysterious force. Only now she has a new helper, Sol. Requiring the help of her younger self, we see them time travel to work together in battling this new evil or darkness that is creeping in.

This was a good instalment in the continuing series. I can see kids enjoying this and the age range has moved up slightly, to go along with the progression of the reader. The adventure itself is kept at such a pace that the child or young reader will be kept interested. There is enough action throughout the book to draw the attention of children and keep things flowing at a quick pace. The climax or boss battle, to speak in gaming terms, is also well done. It involved some problem solving, but I did feel like perhaps it could have had more to the resolution.

I liked the character progression from the previous books and that we get to see what trouble comes from her decision to keep helping with the Library of Lost Dreams. It added some extra depth and the ability to see the consequences of our actions. The new character Sol is a lovable character that adds a good supporting role. As far as the conclusion goes, it leaves it open for another book to follow suit. It does seem like one can only find so many variations of the same forms of darkness that threaten the Library. This would make my recommendation be that the series not be kept going as a long term storyline, as it will slowly lose its magical touch that it currently has for readers. With the age progression that we saw, I would suspect that this is already the plan of the author.

Overall, I would recommend reading this for young readers. The series is a good choice for getting children interested in reading, which is something that we struggle with in our society right now.

I loved the first 2 books. Dahlia’s story was an epic adventure. Sadly this book wasn’t quite like that. Going to the future seemed unnecessary to most of the story. I understand, once I got to the epilogue, that it was to tell more of the time line. But I feel like we skipped important parts of Dahlia’s life. We don’t really see her come into her powers. We get the slight conversation about her family and how they don’t talk anymore. The story of how the house burnt down. It’s all things that I feel like we should’ve seen first.
The future then to the past and Astra seeing the future that we just read in the book seemed a little to me.
I do love the characters and I hope to read more of Dahlia’s story. There’s so much we need to know about the time in between young Dahlia and Keeper Dahlia.

This is the third book in The Library of Lost Dreams series. Dahlia is grown, and has just become a Keeper of the Library. When Astra is taken, Dahlia must bring her ten year old self into the future to help fight this dark monster that has never been recorded in the archives. This will be their toughest fight yet.

The chapters are short, easily read, and simple to understand; better understood if the books are read in order. The illustrations are simply beautiful!

In my opinion, the books are easier and better read in physical form instead of on an e-reader, just because the pictures and layout of the book.

This is the 3rd book in the series of Dahlia’s story, who over the three books I have fallen in love with for her resilience and determination and of course her love of books.

This is a good read for both children and adults. It tackled the issues of how our past can affect the future if it’s left to fester and not dealt with at the time. The character's come to life as you read each page. I love SOL the ball of yellow fluff and Astra the very wise old owl.

I received this ARC from the author / booksprout and this is my honest review
