Decayed World, book 2 in the superb Skies Afire series picks up where book 1 left off, with Maddie struggling to save her father and Hannah dealing with her own set of problems. Illness is spreading, militias are forming, Frank is amassing followers and a new villain, so deranged she is taking over other groups has popped up. This book is absolutely loaded with surprises, I'll leave it at that, its too good to spoil! The book is intense in the best possible way with great characters, dialog, action sequences, everything is exactly where it should be. If you have loved the Ravaged Skies books, you will be thrilled with Decayed World. Even if apocalyptic survival thrillers aren't something you are usually interested in, the Skies Afire series will make a fan out of you! 5/5 stars. Decayed World is among the best post-EMP/CME survival thrillers in existence. Don't miss out!!
Maddie makes it home just in time…to tell her father goodbye. Her mother and others all suffering from some mystery ailment, slowly taking their strength until their bodies can handle no more. Hannah and her family in South Portland realize things have turned dangerous and make plans to escape, unfortunately they wait one night too long. On the run, Hannah’s mother and father make her and Jack head out to safety while they act as decoys. Things in Cornish aren’t going well at all. Frank is trying not too subtly to make himself into the town leader, creating his group of strong armed goons under the guise of helping. Meanwhile Sherman’s forces from Portland, on the march to Cornish have been taken over by someone called the Queen…the Queen of Likes. And you’re not going to guess in a million years who it turns out to be. Things are going to get very, very intense in the last book and I can’t wait to see how it all ends!
The town of Cornish and it's people are struggling, not just because of food shortages but some have learned there is an enemy and followers among them. As they struggle to survive and grieve because of deliberately contaminated water causing the loss of many innocent people they get more information about an attack coming from a much larger and dangerous threat. Will they be prepared and strong enough to repel the enemy or will they just be another town that falls to this army.
