Jasmine May thought everything in life was going fine until, around age 40, she began to have flashbacks of extensive sexual abuse while growing up in Asia. The shocking recollections, and their accompanying emotional and physical distress, thrust her into a dark season of her life. In the process, she wrestled with many raw emotions and challenging questions. She confronted her own inner dividedness and, eventually, her abusers. Throughout the journey, Jesus met her in the places of deepest hurt and moved her towards healing and wholeness.
I read this book in three days! It is a beautiful story of how much Jesus loves us, His ability to heal the darkest evil done against us, and the courage of His daughter to walk through it all with Him and then share it with us.
This was a very moving account of one woman's testimony. It demonstrates the incredible resiliency of the human spirit. It leaves one is awe of how the body and mind cope with such tragedy and harm as suffering severe abuse at the hands of a father- who is supposed to love, protect, and lay one's life down for his child. It is an incredible story of reconciliation. It is said that people tend to attribute God the Father with the faults displayed in their earthly fathers. If their earthly father was overprotective, or standoffish, or never told them that they were loved. It is incredible how Jasmine May was reconciled to her heavenly Father in light of the horror suffered at the hand of her earthly father. I highly recommend this read. Don't rush through it- it would be difficult to do, anyway. The print is small and the book is long, but it is amazing and worth the journey.
It's difficult to review a book written by a friend. I will say that the book is heartbreaking and deeply honest. "Jasmine" went through a horrendous experience, and her and her family together bravely embarked on a long and difficult journey to find healing. It is worth reading to see what their journey looked like.
I was one of the many people in her life that prayed for her, from afar.....wondering what was going on. Now it is so much clearer. It is a sad story, but one of victory! Praise God ! Through the steps in our lives, God knows the way.
It was very deep and it took along time to to read. It is well worth the time to learn how a person can go thru such trauma and come out normal in the long run.
