3.5 stars. I really struggled with this story a great deal. The quality of Jason A Jones writing was the highlight for me, but everything else not so much. There was no real focus in the story. One could argue that it was Patrick or Elizabeth, but, in reality, it never quite made up its mind on what it should be about. The first, rather large, chunk of the story were just similar instances with our resident witch manipulating victims, introducing throwaway characters one after another, chapter after chapter, which was overdone and unnecessary. Once it stayed present day, of sorts, it the continued character hopping without much context or with any sort of genuine flow, leaving the reader extremely unsure of what this experience was meant to be. It also tried to tackle way too much in something under a hundred pages, too. Needless to say, lots of issues throughout that hurt the impact of the story. If the author simplified the approach, maybe focusing strictly on Agnes' initial incident, somehow connecting it to a singular character, and then following that sole person, it would have greatly improved the readability of this book. All the pieces were there, but just never quite connected.

Oh man, this was sick! Jason has a real talent for writing vivid, grotesque monsters that take pleasure in tearing their enemies apart in pools of blood and gore. The imagery is absolutely revolting, but incredibly effective, it grossed me out while also making me feel genuinely scared. The nightmarish old woman, dressed in a polka dot dress and pearls, alongside her creepy, child-snatching janitor sidekick, makes for a creepy and unforgettable pair!

There are some cool death scenes in this story. My favorite involves a blob, or as it’s described, “a thick, veiny globule.” I won’t spoil anything, but if you love descriptive and gory moments, you’re going to enjoy this. You can tell the author is a true horror fan, especially with that Cannibal Holocaust reference involving Jonathon Meeker—such a great touch!

Thanks for the wild ride, Jason. It’s always a pleasure reading your work! Agnes Carlyle is a character I won’t forget anytime soon. I have a feeling she’s going to show up in my nightmares…

If you’re looking for a quick read under 100 pages that delivers vivid and unsettling horror imagery, this one is definitely worth checking out!

HOLY FKN MOLY...Ive been breathless probably for the last 2 hours, all whilst reading Under A Bleeding Bed, which is by far one of the best books Jase has ever written...but let me ask you this...

What is it about Jason’s work that keeps you crawling back for more?
Is it the extremities he’s not afraid to cross or the boundaries he doesn’t bother to set.

Do you feel that his stories literally slap you hard in the face and yet dare you to keep reading? Or is it the fast pace that punches you in the gut and steals your breath?

If you said yes to all of the above, then you'll probably also agree that under a bleeding bed was nothing short of amazing.

Once again, Jase has conjured up another deliciously dark tale that grabs you by the ankles and drags you straight into your childhood nightmares.

We aren't just talking about horror. It’s the kind that makes you laugh nervously, pull your feet up, and double-check the shadows, oh, and to make matters worse, there's something crawling under your bed…And she’s hungry 😨

👵 Picture this, a sweet old lady… with an appetite for flesh.

🦷 Add in creaking floorboards, whispers in the dark, and a set of dentures that snap a little too eagerly 😬😬😬

💀 The result? Pure nightmare fuel. It's a short, sharp, and savagely entertaining story that proves time and time again why Jason's the KING OF CREEPY...(stories that is)

If you’ve ever feared what’s under your bed, then Jason has definitely reconfirmed your right to be scared.

Nothing like being worried that an old witch/hag is going to crawl out from under your bed and slurp your entrails out. No one is safe. And beware.. You could inherit an evil entity that is always hungry. Great job Jason!

I received the audiobook for this and let me just tell you.. WOW! If you love graphic horror then you NEED to listen to the audio for this short read. @breebooks2016 really brings the writing of @thehorrornovelnut76 to life.

🩸Bree reads with such heart, emotion and dramatics that you can vividly see the graphic horrors unfolding right before your very eyes. From just the prologue I was in my feelings, seeing every single horrific detail so vividly it made me want to throw up. For a horror novel, this is a compliment to the narrator.

🩸Jason delivers yet again bringing your childhood nightmares to life. Crossing lines or completely erasing them, this is one horror novella you don't want to miss. The words aren't just written, they are acted, they create a scene so crystal clear that you might as well be watching a movie. Amazing.

Recommended to readers who enjoy horror novellas that do not shy away from any of the horrific details.

We follow the hag’s story through generations, as her curse eats through a town like rot under the floorboards. It’s 𝙗𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙡. It’s fast. But it never skimps on world-building or dread. That twist about how she stays tied to this world? Chef’s kiss. I’ll be checking under my bed all Summerween, 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙨.

A short, gory and creepy horror story.

Not even a page in and blood is already spilled. And this continues throughout the book in the most brutal ways.

Not for the faint hearted, but if you enjoy bloody, fast paced body horror, I’ll definitely recommend reading this.

This is my third Jones book and it’s safe to say I’m a fan!

And I will be checking under my bed before going to sleep tonight!

Jason A. Jones books are always those kinds of journeys you just know will be rife with unexpected detours. This book, with its crazy demented cast of characters was no different, and it did not disappoint! Lots of blood, a weird sexual escapade in a covered truck bed, and the man who inherited the curse (or depraved blessing in his eyes??)! So, if any of this sounds intriguing and you'd like to see how it all fits together, pick it up stat!

Woah, this one was wild! This short, brutal, splattery novella is a bullet-train straight to hell...nasty, terrifying, sickening, and a whole ton of fun. I don't normally read gorey/splatterpunk style books (I don't have the stomach for it) but Jason A. Jones pulled this one off with gnarly style. All the trigger warnings here, seriously, all of them. Don't read before bed, or before eating, or before trying to function like a normal human being.

Jason A . Jones delivers on all the trigger warnings with this visceral tale of terror. He has created a monster in Agnes Carlyle that will have you reaching for the Ambien if you ever hope to sleep again. Fans of well wrought gory nightmare fuel will be sated here.

I can still hear the cracking and slurping - the images in my brain right now after reading this 😱😳 The title and cover alone tell you everything - Under a Bleeding Bed is dark, disturbing, and graphic…and of course I loved every second of it!

An old hag with an insatiable hunger, a curse you can’t outrun, a janitor obsessed with a teacher, and victims who never stood a chance🩸Don’t forget to check under your bed tonight 🫣

If Jason A. Jones writes it, I’m running to read it - really enjoyed this one! And if you’ve read The Angel of the Watchtower, there’s a fun little surprise in here for you.
