After Timebound came Time Burned…

Saul is going to kill Trey.

When Kate receives the anonymous note threatening the life of her boyfriend, she’s forced to make yet another jump in time, back to the Salem Witch Trials to protect one of the accused witches, a woman directly related to Trey. If she fails, Trey will blink out of existence, his family line shattered well before the day of his birth. However, she’ll soon realize that killing Trey’s relative is only a small part of a much broader plan meant to strengthen the Cyrists’ stranglehold on the future.

Meanwhile, in the present, Trey is abducted by the Cyrists, his CHRONOS key ripped from his neck. Escaping his captor and fighting his way back to the safe zone created by Kate’s grandmother, Katherine, is his only hope if Kate is unable to stop the witch trials from continuing.

Time is running out and Kate must find a way to stop the Cyrists before her entire world burns.

For all those who love Rysa Walker's world of The CHRONOS Files (Timebound, Time's Echo, Time's Edge) as much as I do, I'm so excited to present my very own novella set in Rysa's awesome world of time travel and historical fiction! Due to Rysa's general awesomeness, Amazon decided to set up her very own Kindle World, where authors are able to dabble in her world, writing novellas and short stories and creating alternate timelines. Time Burned is the very first novella in her world and has already become a #1 Kindle Worlds bestseller, and has also charted on Kindle's Time Travel bestseller list!! A HUGE thanks to Rysa Walker for her support for this novella and I hope you all enjoy my story :)

For those of us eagerly waiting for Rysa Walker's next book in the Chronos Files, David Estes gives us the perfect "fix" that we need. I really enjoyed this novella which took us to the Salem Witch Trials as Kate travels back in time to save Trey's ancestor before Trey winks out of existance.

This story had me holding my breath in several places along with a couple of giant gasps! For never having written in the time travel genre, I thought Estes did an amazing job of grasping the concept along with Walker's world and characters.

I look forward to reading more stories in this new Kindle World that will keep my Chronos Files addiction sated until Walker's next story releases. Thank you David Estes for this wonderful story of Kate and Trey. And thank you Rysa Walker for sharing your incredible world and characters!

A new novella about Kate and Trey! I was so excited to read this story, and it did not disappoint!

I am fascinated by the Salem Witch Trials and will read just about anything on the subject. Looking at the crazy period in history through Kate's eyes was especially interesting!

This novella was a great read with lots of action and adventure with our favorite characters! Fans of The Chronos Files will love this one!

So I guess Kindle Worlds is a way for there to be author-approved fan fiction? I had never heard of it or these novellas written by other authors until I stumbled upon Rysa Walker's blog.

Don't get me wrong, this is an interesting story, and the characterizations of Kate, Trey, and Katherine seem spot-on. Kiernan is a little off, though. I guess the author of this story is on Team Trey whereas I am firmly Team Kiernan. Overall, it was interesting, a fun little diversion. The Salem Witch Trials are featured as well as the cutthroat nature of the Cyrists.

Overall, I would just rather read Rysa Walker's versions and check out this author's original work, though. Clearly he is talented, it just feels weird to me to see this universe written in someone else's voice. It was pretty good, though, so 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I loved it! It was a quick easy read, but it was full of action (and humor). I liked how it was from the perspective of born Kate and Trey, because it gave a lot on insight of what was going on in both times.

Can I just say how awesome it is that there's a kindle world for chronos?! I can't wait to see what else is to come.

So one of my favorite authors wrote a novella based on one of my favorite series.

I'm not sure which shelf to put ot on.

I could definitely taste David's take of Rysa's world.

It was pretty good - not as good as the original, but then again, she is the master of her world.
He is the master of his...check out his new series and you'll understand why he was an excellent choice for such time period.

It was very enjoyable. It appears that he leans in a different direction that I desire dealing with the triangle, but he does give Kiernan justice.

Oh, I just about died when Kiernan pops on the scene!

But .

Anyway, a well-written "fanfic", I guess.

I just want more of the Time Bound world...now.

I am on the fence with this one...

I almost went with three stars.
I really really love this little sidestep in the series.
That's why I went with four stars---
But-
I didn't quite enjoy Estes style of writing.
This is a YA series but his writing seems a bit juvenile.
The web he spun was a good overall product though.
If you love the Timebound world and fancy a quick read-
Definitely pick this up =)

Timelines can be a bit confusing,

Since time is the gift that keeps on giving, I have really enjoyed all the Chronos Files stories. What makes time travel novels good is a great historical event with a bit of Imagination and creativity.

Very short book. It took me about an hour to read it. Otherwise, it was good. Just wish there was more of it.

I read all 3 in the series - I was disappointed that there wasn't a fourth - maybe in the future? [ha, ha]

I dislike the writing style. It feels unpolished and choppy, and I find the descriptions distasteful.

I also feel like the author didn't do a good enough job thinking through the ramifications of his character's actions in Salem on the overall timeline. It's just too small a town for characters to go tromping through and not mess with things, and he didn't provide any explanation of what precautions CHRONOS took. Of particularly annoyance was

I'm disappointed that the KindleWorlds program allows other authors to make use of main characters, especially if the main author doesn't read and approve. I expect it's confusing for readers if others are allowed to willy-nilly make changes to your story. I would have been happier if the author had chosen or created side characters and decided to expand their stories. Additionally, I think these works' status as fanfic should be more visible in the title descriptions.

The writer failed the capture the voices of Kate, Katherine, and even Connor in this novella. It was painfully obvious that these were not the characters I loved from Rysa Walker's creation. I was often pulled out of the story by a thought or comment that Kate would make, which would feel entirely out of character.

Then, there were interactions and events that are directly contradicted in the later Chronos Files books. Perhaps these characters could have existed in another timeline, but they weren't Our-Kate and Katherine from The Chronos Files.

It was a nice read because I miss the time bound characters, but it was not the same.
