Rate this book
Set in the Thousand Islands Region of the upper St. Lawrence River, CROSS-CURRENTS is a coming-of-age story about a talented seventeen year-old who dreams of becoming a concert pianist. Clive Tierney is full of eccentricities, including harmful tendencies. He is haunted by questions about his mother who died in an accident before his first birthday and his father refuses to talk about her. At the same time, Clive cannot escape the music which plays in his head. He is a perfectionist and constantly on guard against injury to his gifted hands. All of this makes him a target for the infamous local high school bully. When a collision of secrets tragically destroys Clive's dream, his survival rests in the hands of his friends and the residents of a small-town community in upstate New York.
