From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Nicole James, comes a STEAMY, FORBIDDEN MC ROMANCE!
Shine— When my world falls down around me, I reach my breaking point. I need a break from everything. I need to get away and clear my head. Prez makes arrangements for me to use the cabin up at Lake Mary—the one that belongs to our club’s San Jose chapter. It’s after midnight when I finally arrive No one is supposed to be here, and sure enough, no vehicle is parked out front and the lights are off. Walking in the door, I drop my gear and throw the bolt. A sound behind me has me reaching for the weapon under my cut, but when I whirl around what I find has me so stunned, I take a step back. A beautiful girl stands just outside the bedroom door in nothing but an Evil Dead t-shirt that shows off her long gorgeous legs. Dark hair falls in long waves to her waist and dark eyes stare back at me. My first thought is my club brothers put her up to this—their idea of stress relief to get my head back in the game. I’ll have to thank them.
Fiona— What the heck is he doing here? The patch on the back of his cut is clear as day even in the moonlight. Evil Dead MC – Nevada. Ho-ly crap. I’m not supposed to be here. My father will kill me when he finds this out. If he finds this out.

Nicole James is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author who loves writing about hot alpha men who'll do anything for the women they love! Her stories are filled with struggle, conflict and real human emotion. She is the author of the Evil Dead MC series, the Brothers Ink Tattoo series and more.
I have really been loving this next-gen series and Nicole has knocked it out of the park for me with this secret baby read! If you're looking for something fast-paced, with plenty of action and some good heat, this will definitely be for you too. Not too heavy and was easily read in a sitting. Was exactly what I was in the mood for! Can't wait for the next one!
**ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review.**
Freaking unputdownable. From the premise, the tropes, to the leading characters, and how their story unfolded— it had my undivided attention, and deservingly so!
First Reckless, now Shine. I think the boys from San Jose might have a little competition from the Las Vegas chapter because they seem to be swaggering in bold as brass, full of charm and sexy smirks and I’m practically swooning after them.
It’s hard to fault Shine. Morally grey, yes. But there’s definitely heart and soul in him. Nothing hotter than reading an MC romance where the MMC is a genuine, caring, protective, family man wrapped up in a solid muscular exterior. His character oozed out of him and made him effortlessly lovable.
Fiona is well, all of us romantics fantasizing a fairy tale-like romance that we read about in books. So you can’t help but root for and lowkey live vicariously through her. She’s playful and considerate, yet also determined when she sets her mind to something.
It’s fast-paced, constantly developing, and filled with heaps of suspenseful moments. Although the tropes involved are no secret, the storytelling is so gripping that I found myself itching to see when they would play out.
We’re eighth book in, and I think the series is only going from strength to strength. This book, like all the previous in the series can easily be read in one sitting. The romance is somewhat of a fast-burn, but at the same time doesn’t feel rushed as there’s so much happening. It’s an easy read, but it’s still an emotional ride filled with secrecy, angst, and drama.
Although it’s not heavily dark or gritty, the narrative does still include sensitive subject matters that some readers may find disturbing or triggering. It contains graphic violence, kidnapping and SA (off-page), death, and PTSD. This book is intended for readers of age.
One aspect I adore about James’ books are the vivid backdrops she places her characters in. It not only sets the scene, but it envelops the reader into their world. In this instance, plopping Fiona in a cabin middle of nowhere with no other than Shine himself. Cue the spice!
The secondary characters are ALWAYS a highlight in any of James’ MC books. This one is no different. It emphasises heavily on family—both blood and through the club. I loved that this one exhibited deep-seated loyalty between certain brothers that didn’t necessary put their club first, but from this reader’s POV, a refreshing change of pace. It’s cool to see friendships take precedence (and for good reason) over their MC every now and then. There’s a level of authenticity, relatability, and understanding with those bonds, especially when you discover the conflict they’ve found themselves in. The familial dynamics are just as gripping as the romantic one present, which is why it’s such an enjoyable read. It also introduces some intriguing new faces that expands their already intricate world further.
Overall, it’s a well-rounded MC romance story that combined nothing but good elements. It’s spice and all things nice, with plenty of thrills and spills. Whilst it doesn’t overly go in-depth, there’s still some complexity and character growth. Shine and Fiona are not only likable individuals, but they make one heartwarming pairing making their HEA worthwhile. I only wish there was an epilogue. As they’re so family-oriented, a scene or a peek into their lives from the future would’ve made for a fuller and more satisfying conclusion to their book, in my opinion.
However, it’s one of my favourites from the series— which is saying something because I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the books so far and looking forward to reading more. It’s another entertaining addition to the world of the Evil Dead MC, and an immediate ‘add to TBR’ for fellow fans of James and lovers of MC romance books alike!
Nicole James once again delivers a mesmerising MC romance with Shine, the eighth enthralling ride in her Sins of the Father (Evil Dead MC: Second Generation) series. This second-gen journey has been nothing short of unforgettable—an emotional rollercoaster where every story brings its own heart-pulling twists, fierce passion, and raw authenticity. With Shine, Nicole James doesn’t just shine—she dazzles.
When Fiona, daughter of Wolf, finds herself at the same secluded cabin as Shine, a member from another chapter, both expect a quiet weekend escape. What begins as a heated misunderstanding quickly spirals into something neither of them could have imagined. Secrets surface, sparks fly, and sizzling heat blends with danger in a way that only James can craft. By the time the weekend ends, Fiona and Shine’s lives are forever altered—and the reader is left breathless, clinging to every page.
Packed with forbidden desire, gut-wrenching emotions, and thrilling MC suspense, Shine is more than just a romance—it’s a fiery, unforgettable ride that will stay with you long after the last page. If you think you’re ready for this steamy, forbidden MC love story, buckle up. This is Nicole James at her absolute best.
Dear readers, I’m so ecstatic for this book to soon go out into the world and into reader’s hands. If you are new to my writing, my books are set in the biker world and showcase strong dangerous men and the women brave enough to love them plus lots of steam, hilarious banter and usually a dead body (sometimes more).
Shine is no exception and centers around three lies, two secrets and a dead body. Shine and Fiona have a passionate attraction neither one can fight, no matter how many lies they tell (and boy do they tell them). If you’ve enjoyed my Evil Dead boys, you’ll really love this one too!
Thank you for your support! This book is available in ebook and paperback. The ebook is free in KU.
The author wove a fantastic story of love within an MC. This is the second generation of the Evil Dead MC and I love the blend of the old and new.
Fiona and Shine may have first met under crazy circumstances with so many misunderstandings but that was just the beginning of a romance for the ages. Life and expectations of living the MC life made their journey to their HEA seem almost impossible at times. The drama with an enemy of Shine’s just added to the suspense of this story.
Well this is a book you don’t want to miss, it held me captive until the end. I absolutely loved Shine and Fiona’s story ❤️❤️❤️ I couldn’t put it down. A definite page turner and very entertaining. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you will not be disappointed 😎🖤
I fell in love with this book from the moment they met. I could not get enough of these two they were perfect for eachother. The chemistry was so good and it was in every scene they had together.
I find the heroine to be the most indecisive lady. So immature. At almost 80% of the book she decides to tell Shine about the baby. And ofcourse that’s when she meets with an accident. So convenient and predictable.
I feel there was no connection between the H/H, they are hardly together. Even a bonus chapter will not redeem this book for me.

SHINE: Sins of the Father is the eighth instalment in Nicole James’ contemporary, adult EVIL DEAD MC: 2nd Generation MC romance series -a spin off set in the author’s EVIL DEAD MC world. This is thirty-three year old, Evil Dead MC: Nevada member Shine, and twenty-two year old, MC princess Fiona’s story line. SHINE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Fiona is the daughter of Wolf and Crystal (Wolf: Evil Dead MC 4), and sister to Rafe.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from three first person perspectives (Shine, Fiona and Reckless) SHINE follows in the wake of a forbidden weekend between our story line couple. Fiona, and her best friend Janey, are secretly throwing a summer’s end party at the MC owned cabin, five hours from home but upon their arrival Janey is called back home because of an emergency, and our heroine will soon meet her future in the guise of Evil Dead MC: Nevada member Shine. Fiona hides her true identity from the man in question, and at the end of a sex-filled, turbulent and deadly weekend, they both go their separate ways but in the ensuing months, Fiona’s life will change in more ways than one; while Shine, never having forgotten the woman who stole is heart, continues to search for the last man who destroyed his sister’s life.
The world building follows the separate lives of our story line couple, covering approximately eighteen months. Fiona is desperate to keep her secret but a secret that is slowing revealing the truth. Starting her own bakery, Fiona’s life plans have changed but she has never forgotten the man she left behind. Shine is determined to end the lives of the men who continue to haunt his sister’s world but months later, a chance encounter at the Evil Dead MC in San Jose finds our hero facing down the woman he never forgot but a woman who is hiding an important secret.
The relationship between Shine and Fiona begins as a weekend fling that ends in murder. Fiona never expected to fall for an MC member from an affiliated club but in an effort to protect our story line hero, Fiona must keep Shine’s identity a secret in the face of her father’s need to avenge. Shine continues to hunt for the men who broke his sister, while Fiona’s path going forward is more complicated than she could have ever imagined. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.
There is a large ensemble cast of spirited and impulsive secondary and supporting characters including members from both the Evil Dead MC Nevada and San Jose Chapters including Shine’s president Daytona. We are reintroduced to Fiona’s brother Rafe, as well as her parents Wolf and Crystal, Reckless, Marcus,TJ, Kyle, Cody, Skeeter, and Fiona’s friend Janey.
SHINE-Sins of the Father is a story of secrets and lies, vengeance and murder, betrayal and heart break, forgiveness and love. The fast paced premise is captivating and dramatic; the romance is limited but seductive; the characters are animated, desperate and determined.
Shine was sitting at the MC club bar when his president sat beside him asking what was on his mind. He told him how he hadn’t told his mother yet that he had broken up with his girlfriend and she wanted them over for dinner. It wasn’t so much that he was heartbroken about the split, but that it meant he was further away from what all his brothers had found. A family. Now all he sees is a bleak future of being alone.
Dakota told him he needed to get away and he called the president of another Evil Dead chapter to see if their mountain retreat was available.
As soon as Shine parked his motorcycle in front of the remote cabin, he knew this was the perfect place to get his head on straight. Especially when he walked inside and saw the beautiful, nearly naked woman waiting inside.
Fiona stares in shock at the biker who just entered the cabin. It was only when she saw the patch on his cut that she realized the true trouble she was in.
Her friend had dropped her off at the cabin, but had to rush back to San Jose when her mother called. Tomorrow she would be returning with their friends for the weekend party they had planned.
Only her father, the president of the San Jose Evil Dead MC, didn’t know she was here. She didn’t have permission to be there and when the gorgeous man in front of her thought she was a surprise sent by his biker brothers, she went with the story. Telling him she was a stripper at the gentlemen’s club in San Jose.
She called her friend and told her to cancel the party and she would spend the night and get a ride back home. What was the harm with spending it with the gorgeous man in front of her? It’s not she would ever see him again.
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. This book can be read as a standalone and has its own HEA. I look forward to reading other books in the series.
This book is action-packed, full of twists, and Fiona finds out that secrets have a way of coming out. The consequences and secrets of her trip to the mountains began with her lie, and the danger that followed Shine, leaving them with a secret pact and then a secret that could split her family apart.
If you enjoy MC romance full of danger, suspense, and sizzling chemistry, you will love this book. This is book 8 of the Evil Dead MC series and I can’t wait to start this series from the beginning. Highly recommend!
Fiona, is the daughter of Wolf from the San Jose Chapter. She has been going to college, but, after the last book, she was kidnapped, she thought about her future and what she wanted out of life. Now she doesn't want to keep going to college. She wants to open up her own bakery, have princess birthday parties, and other social events. She just has to tell her parents that she is quitting school. Fiona's best friend and her go up to the cabin up by the lake. Her friend's mom calls and has been in an accident and she leaves to go back home to take care of her mom. Fiona stays there at the cabin to finish cleaning up and getting set up for the party.
Shine is from the Las Vegas Chapter. His president tells him to take off a few days and go up to the cabin by the lake to relax and take some time for himself and unwind a bit. But, when he gets to the cabin, who should be standing in just a tank top? Fiona. Shine doesn't know who Fiona is - or that she is Wolf's daughter. Fiona tells him another name and he believes her. They have a whirlwind weekend romance and part ways. When Shine realizes that she wasn't a dancer from the club he asks who she is and finds out she is Wolf's daughter. Of course that sets all sort of alarm bells off for him. When he gets back to the Las Vegas chapter, he tells his president and VP about his weekend and what all happened. They didn't call Wolf. They told Shine not to do anything.
A few months later Shine and his Las Vegas crew go out to California to the San Jose club for Reckless's birthday party. Shine finds Fiona and they talk a bit, and Shine wants to stay out for a week or so and see if anything is there between him and Fiona. Even though someone is still hunting after Shine, he knows that she will be safer in her community with all the bikers around her.
Will Fiona be able to tell Shine about her secret? Will Shine be able to stay in California? What will happen with Fiona's dad, Wolf once he realizes who Shine is to Fiona??
I did receive a free ARC Copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the story of Shine and Fiona. He is from the Nevada Chapter of the Evil Dead MC. His world is falling apart and he can't keep his mind on what he is supposed to keep it on. He knows that he needs to get away, decompress and get his head back in the game. His President arranges for him to get away to Lake Mary in a cabin owned by the San Jose chapter. It takes him a while to get there and it is after midnight. The house looks as empty as it should be but when he walks in and locks the door, he is in for a shock when he sees Fiona standing there in a Evil Dead tee and nothing else. He thinks his brothers have arranged this for him. But, Fiona is Wolf's daughter and isn't supposed to be anywhere near that cabin. It is obvious to her that he doesn't know who she is either. If you know Wolf you know that he is super protective of his daughter and she is very much off limits to Shine. One introduction and a fake name later and these two have one amazing weekend together. However, he realizes she isn't a girl sent there by his brother and she tells him who she really is before they part ways. The rest of the story I can't tell you. You have to unwind all that tangled web while your reading. I loved this book though. It was so good that I devoured it. There are twists and turns and danger that keep you hooked. I really loved Shine and Fiona they are really great characters but together they are pure magic. This is a book that you need in your life.
Shine by Nicole James was an exciting and page-turning book. I was pulled into the story by the first chapter and didn't put it down until the end. This book is a dark MC book and touches on dark themes and topics, so check the CW to make sure this is a book for you. I loved this storyline, it was original, page-turning, and filled with drama, a secret, some suspense, and oh the spice!!! It was all on point and didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the crazy joy ride this book took me on and was sad when I reached the end. I always want more of the characters' stories. I thought the characters were complex and had an intense and undeniable chemistry. I loved the instant attraction and the journey they both went on in this book. It was a beautiful and heartbreaking relationship, but the grovel was perfect, and their love melted my heart. This book is part of The Sins of the Father: Second Generation series and can be read as a standalone, but I recommend the whole series!!! It is binge-worthy!!!-By Brooke
Shine, book number 8 in the Next Generation Evil Dead Series Sins of the Father, is a steamy forbidden MC romance with enough drama to keep you turning those pages long after the book is over.
In this book you follow Fiona and Shine’s journey from a misunderstanding that led to the best and most unforgettable weekend of their lives to jaw dropping revelations and what we all are hoping for is an HEA (keep those fingers crossed). The characters chemistry is off the charts and there is so much angst, so much secrecy and regret that of course Wolf is bound to have some words of wisdom for the situation (some funny bits here as well that will totally get you) Believe me you will not want to miss this book; I was totally glued to the pages from start to finish.
Well written, with a complex and addictive storyline – Nicole James’ Evil Dead MC continues to be one of my all-time favourite MC universe. Bring on the next one baby!!!!!
Shine and Fiona meet when she is at the Club's cabin in the hopes of throwing a party with her BFF. Things don't go as planned and she winds up going along with Shine's assumption that she is a "gift" from his Club. Sadly, that is not the first or last lie that Fiona tells in this story. She was a constant disappointment in acting like an adult. I am not okay with people keeping huge things a secret and she constantly had an excuse for not doing the right thing and coming clean. It was kind of surprising that Shine was okay with most of it. I wanted her to stop lying and be a responsible adult. The excuses made for her were woefully inadequate to justify her deceptions. I really didn't feel much a spark between the two of them because there were long lapses where they didn't even see each other. It was kind of a hot mess for me. His moving past her deceptions seemed too easy to me. I wanted more of them working through things and less of him just moving on from her latest deception. I was kind of ticked Wolf didn't go off on her.
This is the 8th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Shine and Fiona’s story. Shine’s world falls down around him, and he needs to regroup, so his president arranges for him to go to a secluded cabin at Lake Mary, which belongs to another chapter. Shine is surprised when he arrives to find another car there, and then he meets Fiona, who he later finds out she is Wolf and Crystal’s off-limits daughter, from the Evil Dead California chapter, while he is from the Nevada chapter. What happens when one-night turns into more? This is a well written fast paced, emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, loyalty, drama, lies, secrets, twists and turns, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, misunderstandings, off limits, suspense, intrigue, violence, undeniable chemistry, revelations, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and heartwarming, addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This is book eight and is filled with all the good characters. Fiona, who is Wolf’s daughter, is our lead female. From the past, she was abducted and now goes to counseling. Now Fiona is feeling more stable and wants to have fun with her BFF Janey. They sneak away to a club owned cabin planning on having a blow out party. But like plans go, things changed and Janey had to go back home. There is a MC brother Shine, who did ask for permission to use the cabin for a few days. Shine opens the door and finds Fiona inside. Now, Fiona has to do some fast thinking so that she doesn’t get in trouble. There is a happy ending for the couple. Read On!
I really enjoyed reading this, I’ve read most of the previous Evil Dead MC books and I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed them all.
This is definitely a light MC romance and it mainly focuses on Fiona and Shine (predominantly Fiona) and their relationship.
It’s an ideal read for those who want to dip their toe into MC romance but don’t want the darkness/violence that typically goes hand in hand with this particular sub-genre, it’s a nice easy read.
The only things that would have made it better would be more interactions between Shine and Fiona in the mid section of the book, and I would’ve loved to see some OWD (perhaps in the form of the ex showing up). Otherwise it was a fab book.
Fiona and her best friend janey are planing a party but they are planing it in a place they shouldn’t be the club’s cabin, but a emergency comes up for Janey and she has to leave. Leaving Fiona there alone. After cleaning the cabin Fiona goes to bed only to be awaken by someone showing up. Shine has gotten permission to use the cabin for a few day,but he’s not with the San Jose chapter he’s out of Nevada. So Fiona doesn’t know what to do. Shine thinks she a gift from his club brothers, but she not. So Fiona to keep her secret go along with what he says but soon they are up to their necks in sex and trouble. But there still more things to pull these two together. So enjoy the read !!
Shine: Sins of the Father is book 8 in the Evil Dead MC Second Generation written by the amazing author Nicole James. This is a forbidden biker romance between Fiona, a club princess daughter of Wolf and Crystal from the Evil Dead MC California chapter and Shine a patch member from the Evil Dead MC Nevada chapter. I couldn’t put this down! It was filled with drama, secrets, lies, steamy scenes, lot of cupcakes, and so many twists/turns that it kept me on edge the entire time. This book is well worth reading. I’ll let you find out! Happy reading! TROPES: Off limits Secret baby / Secret pregnancy One Night Stand
Shine gets his HEA and I love who he finds it with! Oh Fiona - what a mess you made of things. I won’t lie and say I wasn’t completely disappointed in her through a good portion of the book. Especially knowing Shine’s greatest desire. Also knowing how upset Wolf would be in his little girl. This trope (no spoilers) is my least favorite but I know this author’s stories are so good so I kept going. They do end up fixing all the things that go wrong but the road to HEA is not a smooth ride. It is always good to catch up with old & dear friends and we get to catch up with A LOT of them. Great read and am looking forward to more.
This book was ok but could have been great. The back and forth with Fiona was too repetitive. There was not enough meat to the book with Fiona and Shine actually together so their "love" was not felt to me and was rushed. And we NEVER even learn Shines actual name, so they actually know next to nothing about each other. There were also a ton of errors through the book. Reckless was typed as Restless many times in the book. On top of that Shine was also called Reckless in error during an intimate moment. I feel like these books are starting to get rushed which causes it to lose a lot of plot development, prevents thorough editing, and loses the chemistry between the characters.
I loved Fiona and Shine. An accidental but hot first meeting. Fiona was quite determined to protect herself and kept everything within. She wasn't quite ready to trust others than her own family and best friends. She was successful in her endeavors. I enjoyed her creativity and loyalty to club. With distance and time between them, Shine was unaware of most of it. He finally admitted his feelings and was quite willing to look beyond the hurt. I loved him for that. Danger surrounded him and almost came to his family, but he gave up the opportunity for revenge to be with Fiona.
I received a copy through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
I’m loving the 2nd generation books so please keep them coming. Accidental/secret pregnancy is one of my favorite tropes and this one was captivating. I started reading and didn’t stop until I finished it. I love the MC family dynamic and Nicole does it like no other.
Shine and Fiona are the perfect match despite the secrets and revenge drama. I beyond hooked and loved how their relationship grew from their first interaction.
Shine is book eight in the Evil Dead MC - Second Generation series and can be read as a standalone. This was my first read from this author and in the series. I will be going back to catch up on the rest. Shine and Fiona steam up the pages in this fiery, forbidden, one night stand, surprise pregnancy romance. Can’t wait for Cody’s book!
I loved this book. From the moment that I started I knew that I was in for something special. It grabbed me and kept me interested and turning pages until the end. I could not get enough. Wow. This book moves along at a speed that is perfect for the story. These characters you will die for, they are amazing and no matter what happens you want to be there for them. This book is a must read. You will not be disappointed.
Fiona needs a break to regroup after her ordeal and in order to work out what she wants in life, Shine needs a break and his prez sends him to the cabin of another chapter, only hes not alone, as a steamy misunderstanding gives them both a weekend not to forget, when the truth of who Fiona is to the club is revealed where will it leave them. Well written engaging steamy desires drama action twists and more!
This is another great read by the author. What starts out as a one night stand under false pretense turns into something so much more than they bargained for. Lies were told that could destroy the future, but as everything unfolds the truth comes out changing things for everyone. Definitely recommend this book, author and series. You won’t be disappointed.
Shine is from the NV chapter and needs to get away from a few days so it arranged for him to stay in a cabin in CA owned by the CA chapter. Fiona is the daughter of Wolf and she decides to go to the cabin to have a party. When Shine arrives at the cabin he meets Fiona thinking his brothers arranged for him a special gift. Read what happens with these two in a great book.
