because midlife isn’t complicated enough Lilly’s life is already a juggling act, boomerang kids, running a cake baking business from her chaotic kitchen and finally learning to drive. She’s got enough to do without magic getting in the way. Turns out, becoming a witch in midlife is like getting a smartphone when you’re still figuring out the TV remote. Overwhelming, slightly terrifying, and absolutely no one prepared you for this. Between perfecting her celebration cakes, dealing with her children’s latest life crisis, and trying to get the hang of parallel parking, Lilly discovers her family is cursed ̶̶ no one can find true love until she breaks the spell. No pressure, right? All she needs is a few magical friends to help her take on ancient magic and everything will be fine. There’s one tiny Grant, the man who makes her heart flutter like a teenager’s (and her hot flushes feel like actual passion), is controlled by his brother Barry, the hex casting corrupt coven leader. Now Lilly must tackle the most challenging spell of her newfangled witchy career, rescue her almost-maybe-definitely love interest, and somehow keep her cake business from crumbling ̶ all while wondering if it’s too late to return her magical powers like a defective kitchen gadget. Because apparently, midlife crisis comes with more than just grandchildren, the menopause and driving instructors with insufferable body odour. Sometimes it comes with magic, mayhem, and the chance to get the fairy tale ending you deserve. Mid Witch Three is a wickedly funny tale of second chances, supernatural shenanigans, and discovering that the most powerful magic of all is believing in yourself.
DJ Bowman-Smith is a multi-genre author whose current passion is paranormal women’s fiction. This genre features a mature protagonist and a fantasy element. This is appealing because DJ can’t help adding a touch of make-believe to anything she writes and she herself is a woman of a ‘certain age’. DJ plans to write more in The Mid Witch series and more books with older, strong-minded female main characters. She is the author of a dark fantasy epic that runs to four books, and she also writes for children under the pen name Tiger Molly. DJ is an artist and enjoys creating her own book covers and illustrations. She writes for magazines and hosts the Words and Pictures Podcast every Monday. Here, she chats with all kinds of writers and people involved in the book business. Find the Words and Pictures Podcast on your favourite app and have a listen. DJ lives in the UK on the South Coast with her husband and a fast and friendly whippet called Evie. She has two grown-up daughters who live in London. Love this series so much and just hope there’s more books in the series!
Witch in the midlife menopause stage of her life and having to deal with bad men and bitchy women……as are we all!
Ink, Maude and Claudia all play a huge part in this wonderful tale of magic, friendship, love and mid-life mayhem.
I’ve read this book in one sitting and that’s why I’m writing this at 5am! Just love it! More please #djbowmansmith
I thoroughly recommend this series to all you wonderful women who love reading a true-to-life tale about finding who YOU really are and putting your own needs first, for once!
I loved this series! There were times I truly laughed aloud. I’ve got the feeling that it’s the conclusion of the series, as everything was resolved, but I would love to read mote about Lily and this new chapter of her life.
It has a little bit of everything. The characters are all not perfectly good or bad… well there are a few really bad ones . But the good ones are all flawed like we all are.
I loved reading these 3 books! The story has everything, magic & mystery, and much more! Very well written!! I highly recommend reading this trilogy of books!!! Once you start reading it s hard to.put down! You wont be disappointed. So good!
I read these 3 books over 3 days and now I have finished the last one, I am mourning friends.. I know this was possibly the last one but I would love to know what happens in her new life.
I really liked this series as it was so comforting and easy but the ending just let it down SO much, why was it so rushed? Really disappointing end to the series and there was no need to cram all that happened at the into 4 pages.
I love this series. A good dollop of dry English humour running through, and so well written. Hopefully there will be more in the same vein from this author.
