This book was a little hard to get into at first. I found the writing style a bit monotonous, but after the character introductions were made, the pace picked up and the story became more interesting.
Skylar has been having dreams - that seem more like nightmares - for some time now. She wonders what they mean and when she finds out their significance and implications, she is shocked.
Skylar and her friends, Rhiannon and Blaze, have magical powers that they must use to defeat Satan and his legion of demons, vampires, and fallen angels. Their closeness and working together is what can save the world from complete destruction.
The book is full of shocking revelations and surprises. There is something happening at every turn and the intensity is great. The storyline has potential and although the events all happen within one week, slowing down the pace can make it better, by allowing for the character development to fully take place.
Skylar and her friends just accepted their fate and asked no questions as to why they were the way they were told. Everything just seemed too tidy in that aspect and I would’ve liked to see more disbelief on their behalf; more resistance and fear. The chapter structure was well done with the different POVs, making the story’s flow work well. I also enjoyed the incorporation of the elements (fire, water, air, earth) and how these helped in the battle of good vs. evil.
All in all, I think the story has lots of potential and making a few changes can make it a definite 5 star read.
