If you don’t know a lot about horse history but are looking for someplace to start, this is the book for you. It’s a resource that gives some basic information, but although it’s a workable survey of the subject, for anything in depth you would need to research further. I particularly found the section on the Renaissance interesting. I liked reading about the first surviving bloodline book.

This was a very intriguing read! Growing up, horses were my favorite animals, so this one captured my attention. I really liked the information the guide provided, detailing the growth and evolution of horses through history alongside humans. I also liked learning about the development of different breeds and their purposes in society.

The guide includes great photographs of breeding horses from foreign continents such as Europe and Asia, and fascinating history about how they were trained for war, colonized in America for farm labor and transportation, and competitive sports.
Although i have only been on ponies when i was a child and once on a horse as an adult, I've always been fond of horses. This book thoroughly explained the evolution of horses, along with the many breeds and respective horses. I enjoyed this work very much
