Okay. Deep breath. Let me just say that Throne of Fire is the kind of book that hijacked my entire weekend—and my emotional stability. You ever pick up a book thinking, “Okay, I’m ready for some dark romance”, and then boom—you’re curled up on the couch, halfway to feral, screaming at your Kindle like, “Just TOUCH her already!”? Yeah. That was me.
Ash Ifrinn? He’s not just your typical brooding antihero—he’s heartbreak dressed in a suit, vengeance walking on two legs. He’s cold. He’s cruel. He’s so deeply broken you can practically hear the cracks when he breathes. He marries our girl (hello, sold into marriage trope—yes please), but won’t lay a hand on her. Oh, but you know he wants to. The tension? Unreal. I could feel the war between his loyalty to the past and the way his body betrayed him every time she came near. And I was living for every tortured second of it.
And let’s talk about her—our fierce, brave, desperate-to-be-loved heroine. She may have been sold like a pawn, but she refuses to be played like one. I loved how she cracked him open slowly—kiss by kiss, glance by glance. It wasn’t just about seduction; it was about survival, vulnerability, and building something real from the ashes of their pain. She made him feel again.
Then came the pregnancy bombshell and my heart practically leapt out of my chest. I mean, how do you tell a man still mourning a ghost that you're carrying his future? The stakes just kept getting higher, and I was clinging to every word, waiting to see if Ash would choose revenge… or her. Or maybe both?
Tropes I devoured:
💔 Arranged marriage
🔥 Age gap
🕊️ Virgin heroine with steel in her spine
🤐 Grumpy tortured alpha who can’t stay away
🤰 Secret baby (done so right)
🖤 Enemies, family betrayal, and full-circle justice
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ He might be slow to touch, but when he does? Prepare to combust.
Emotional damage: High. And I loved it.
Final thought: I would gladly be a pawn if it meant ending up like her.
Final Verdict:
Throne of Fire is everything I love in dark romance: tension so thick you could cut it with a knife, broken characters fighting to heal, and a love so fierce it burns everything in its path. Ajme Williams didn’t just deliver heat—she gave me emotional stakes, gritty vengeance, and a heroine who found power in the very thing meant to break her.
Ash Ifrinn might’ve married her for power, but I fell in love with them for the fire. And I’ll absolutely be back for the next sinner in this kingdom.

Ajme Williams' "Throne of Fire," the third installment in the "Kingdom of Sinners Series," plunged me into a dark and emotionally charged mafia romance. It centered on an arranged marriage, a quest for vengeance, and the slow burn of an unexpected love. This book promised a turbulent journey through a world of losses, violence, and secrets, with characters battling both external enemies and their own internal demons, and I found myself thoroughly immersed.

The story introduces Hannah O'Donnell, an 18-year-old whose dreams of college are shattered when her father forces her into an arranged marriage with Ash Ifrinn. Hannah is a pawn in a business alliance designed to help Ash and his three brothers gain power and exact revenge against Hampton Kean, the man responsible for the fire that took their parents, Ash's girlfriend Megan, and their family's legacy. Hannah enters a marriage "in name only," feeling like a "door stop" as Ash remains distant, stoic, and cold, haunted by the ghost of his past love, Megan.

Ash Ifrinn is portrayed as a man consumed by revenge, burdened by survivor's guilt, and convinced that anyone he gets close to will die. He's initially cruel and nasty towards Hannah, pushing her away even as his body betrays his undeniable attraction. I felt his struggle as he believed he was dishonoring Megan's memory by even considering happiness or a physical relationship with Hannah. His journey is one of slowly breaking down his self-imposed walls, a process that is often painful and fraught with denial.

Hannah, despite her youth and initial naivete, emerged as an amazingly fierce and brave heroine. Forced into a situation where she wasn't wanted, she refused to be disrespected. I admired her loyalty as she stood by Ash even when he was cruel, and how she tirelessly tried to help his family reclaim their lost empire, notably by organizing dinner parties to rally old allies. Her resilience was truly tested when she was taken hostage by their enemies, an event that forced Ash and his brothers to confront their true feelings and act decisively.

The narrative is packed with action, drama, and intrigue, exploring themes of arranged marriage, age gap, secret pregnancy, and enemies-to-lovers. The tension between Ash and Hannah was palpable to me, escalating from cold indifference to a passionate, if complicated, connection. The book delved into their healing journeys, as Ash slowly learned to let go of the past and embrace a future with Hannah and their secret child.

However, I found the book presented some challenging aspects that impacted my reading experience. Ash's initial cruelty and verbal abuse towards Hannah, particularly during the dinner party scene where he "belittles" and "blames" her, was difficult to read. I felt that his transformation seemed unearned, occurring primarily after Hannah endured significant trauma (kidnapping), rather than through genuine emotional growth on his part. His prolonged "whining" about Megan and his perceived disloyalty also tested my patience, making it hard to fully embrace his eventual declaration of love.

Despite these criticisms, I believe "Throne of Fire" offers a compelling and unputdownable read for those who enjoy dark mafia romance with high emotional stakes. It explores the complexities of pain, guilt, heartbreak, and healing, ultimately delivering a story of unexpected love and triumph against overwhelming odds.

Rating: 3.5/5 stars

My Rating System:
1⭐️: The book didn’t hold my interest and/or had significant issues that overshadowed any redeeming qualities for me, but generally not my cup of tea. Most likely did not finish the book.
2⭐️: The book didn’t quite resonate with me, and while my experience wasn’t remarkable, I did finish it. It had some redeeming qualities and potential but fell short in execution. Recommendable, though with some reservations.
3⭐️: Good read, but didn’t quite stand out. Still worth recommending to others.
4⭐️: Really enjoyed it and stayed engaged throughout. Would read the book again. Definitely recommendable.
5⭐️: Incredible writing that made me deeply connect with the characters. I was completely absorbed in the world and didn’t want it to end. This book stayed with me even when I wasn’t reading it. I'd gladly reread it and highly recommend it to everyone!.

Throne of Fire is the fourth installment in the Kingdom of Sinners Series. The stories are interconnected with characters from the previous books stopping by and contributing to the story. Ajme Williams delivers a powerhouse novel full of pain, guilt, heartbreak, healing, unexpected love, revenge, triumph, and familial bonds. This is the second book I’ve read by this author and again I’m blown away. I was sad to realize this was the third book in this series but also excited that I can go back and read the first two stories! And while I may have figured out a few spoilers in this book I’m still intrigued to read about Flint and Blaise and how they came to be in love!

Ash Ifrinn has developed a mask and a scowl as he’s lost not only his parents but his love Megan. He feels guilty for surviving and doesn’t feel like he should be happy or take a risk of losing someone else. He feels like he’s bad luck and only wants to seek revenge for them. His sole focus for the last 10 years has been avenging his family and Megan. Now he has to navigate rocky terrain as he realizes an alliance with other families is needed and that means he needs to marry Hannah but he believes that it can be a business arrangement and marriage in name only. But what he didn’t expect was his new wife - Hannah - is a game changer.

Hannah is an amazingly fierce and brave heroine! She has been sold essentially by her father to Ash but she will not be disrespected or played like a stepword wife. She is loyal and stands beside Ash even when he’s cruel and mean to her. He doesn’t mean to hurt her but he seems to do it more often than not and somehow she still seems to like him and has feelings for him. The pain and anger she endures from his outbursts along with the tension simmering between them and then his dismissal of her and her feelings makes you want to shake him or slap him. Stop putting her through this and deal with your own demons!

As the relationship grows, the tension between these two is palpable and hot! He wants them to live separate lives so she decides to do that and then he misses her. He finds his body betraying him as he’s attracted to her. He still wants to protect her even though he wants this to be more of an arrangement than marriage. She is desperate to be loved and a partner in this marriage and she slowly breaks down his walls. He wants to try to be a good husband and give her some sort of pleasure so you slowly see touch by touch and kiss by kiss that Hannah becomes important to him and Megan starts to drift into the past but how does he handle this new normal?

I absolutely loved the pace and couldn’t put the book down. The twists and turns with Hannah knowing the ins and outs of the business and helping the Ifrinn family be seen again and then spending time with her friends and finding out her secret. Ash slowly imploding over his thoughts and feelings about the past, present and future. Hannah standing strong despite the hand she was dealt. I loved how they both ended up broken in order to heal and put the pieces back together in a way that allows them to be happy!

Amazing read! Do not miss!!!

If you enjoy a MMC riddled with angst, this book is for you…

For me, there was too much repetition of the theme…MMC wracked with angst and guilt over death of his one-time love. This guilt and angst repeated way too often until it made me want to put the book down. The FMC is a model of poise and thoughtfulness. She has the strength the MMC lacks and he mentions her strength about as often as he berates himself for being weak and whiny - but he continues to be weak and whiny. No surprise that by the end of the story arc, he has grown to be able to love again. Another issue I had with this story was the lack of character development for his brothers. As a team, they seek revenge on those who killed their parents and who stole their birthright. However, they seemed more like shadows rather than a part of the story arc. Perhaps the story arc is supposed to be focused mostly on the MMC’s growth from whiner to husband. This is also the first book I’ve read in the series so maybe the author intends for the reader to know and understand these brothers from earlier books. A third problem I had was the revenge plot itself. At least for this reader I didn’t really understand what the plan actually was and the ending, while a nice HEA, seemed anticlimactic after all the posturing and angst. The brothers wanted an alliance with other Families to take down the villains but other than the FMC being a great hostess and strategist, the brothers showed very little leadership. Lastly, the sexy bits were pretty tame and did not justify the FMC’s being able to so easily move past the MMC’s hot and cold behavior toward her. That all being said, the FMC is engaging and smart even if she is a little too good to be believed. I chose to believe in her goodness as it was nice to have such a virtuous heroine. Not sure yet if I will read more in this series but in general this is an author I’ve enjoyed in the past.

Her Patience Healed his Broken Heart -
Hannah wasn’t looking forward to the marriage arranged by her father, but what she didn’t expect was the indifference her new husband showed towards her. Ash had sworn off relationships and marriage, but he accepted he had to do his part to ensure the plans him and his brothers made would succeed. Even though Hannah tried to coax Ash into making the most of their situation, the baggage he was carrying from the past made him set boundaries between them.

However, Ash realised that his attraction for Hannah kept growing the more time they spent together, which led them engaging in mind blowing steamy dalliances, but the aftermath of their encounters caused them more stress. Unfortunately, just as Ash and Hannah settled into their relationship, she discovered her life was about to get more complicated and then she found herself in the middle of a dangerous situation. Nevertheless, Ash was able to rescue Hannah with the help of his friends and family, as well as curb the major threat to all of them.

As luck would have it, Ash finally had the courage to confess his true feelings to Hannah after he discovered the secret she had been hiding and this gave them a chance to get the happy future neither one of them expected. This is a truly emotional story about an eighteen year old woman who was forced into a situation where she wasn’t wanted, but she showed how extraordinary she was by navigating the treacherous mafia world and proving to everyone that age is just a number. I had been really looking forward to reading book three in the Kingdom of Sinners series and Ajme Williams definitely didn’t disappoint. I am now really looking toward to read book four.

Darkness is Sunshine!

This story was darkness, intriguing, loveless! This is what Ash has to offer Hannah, who her parents arrange a marriage to,but she new it when she said yes to the marriage but she didn't realize she would be fighting a ghost, the marriage would only be in name only.Ash and his three brothers are still on track to bring the person who took their parents,Ash's girlfriend Megan and their staff and their home and future away.Hannah feels like she is fighting a losing battle with her marriage, she feels like a door stop,Ash doesn't look at her, smile or talks to her,she over hears a comment one of his brother's make about a Megan, she thinks he has another woman on the side, she decides she will help his family by holding dinner party's where they would invite the families who use to stand behind the boys family when they were living, everything is working has plan but they have one hold out the Sullivans, they don't don't get now where with them in fact they double cross the boys and Hannah is taken hostage, the families stand behind the boys and they rescue Hannah and bring down their enemies and reclaim what the boys families loss in the last ten years.Ash and Hannah do have a happy marriage and the ghost is put to rest! Now to why I gave this a low rating and the first two stories were high, the part of the story where the dinner party with the Sullivan 's is going wrong and leave and this is where I felt Ash belittles her, blames her for everything that's gone wrong at the dinner party,he was taking his angry out on her, that's why the low rating.Hannah shouldn't made to feel like a escape goat or punching bag for verbal abuse! Ash does open up to Hannah but only after she knife, kidnapped but that doesn't make a happy marriage!

Throne of Fire delivers a beautifully intense romance wrapped in power, pain, and longing. From the moment Hannah O'Donnell is sold into marriage, you feel the weight of everything she has lost and everything she begins to fight for.

Hannah is young but not naive. She enters Ash Ifrinn’s world with quiet determination, aware she is being used but unwilling to be broken. Her strength is not loud, but it is steady. She sees the walls Ash has built around himself and makes the brave choice to stay and try to understand him.

Ash is a man carved out of grief. Cold, unreadable, and completely focused on revenge, he sees Hannah as a tool in his war against Hampton Kean. But she does something he never expects. She stays kind. She stays soft. And she does not give up. Which I LOVED!!!

The chemistry between them is powerful, filled with tension and tenderness. Their connection unfolds slowly, making every glance and conversation feel meaningful. This is not a story that rushes. It allows space for emotion, for healing, and for two people to grow into something real. Yes, it's a slow burn, but it is well worth it!

The plot is rich with family secrets, political power, and emotional stakes. Every scene pushes the story forward. Every choice carries weight. And when Hannah discovers she is pregnant, the book shifts into something even more urgent and deeply moving. I'm so glad Hannah & Ash got their HEA!.

I kept having to double check who the author was on this one. While Lucy was oblivious, Jenna was mentally stuck at age 14, Hannah was actually pretty decent. She did let Ash walk all over her for part. She finally stood up for herself and showed a strength to aid Ash in the business side. Ash was a total jerk and whiney brat. He continued to whine about Meghan and how he should remain loyal to a girl who was no longer on this Earth and hasn't been for years. The constant whining, moping, claiming he was disloyal, etc. became so obnoxious, I started to skim read when he would drone on and on and on. The fact that in the prior books, he was actually the voice of reason made it unable to reconcile. This series has me questioning the author. Where the older books just flukes that they were dark and really good with strong characters who let nothing stand in their way or is this series the real author? Hannah and the brothers who tried to tell him off are the only reasons this book barely got a 3. The fact that Ash tried to set his brother up as being as whiny and stuck in the past makes me question if I'm going to finish this series. Unfortunately, with Ash's constant "betraying Meghan" whine, by the time the story got to the end and he "professed his love" no one was buying it. This is 3rd book of the series Kingdom of Sinners each book follows a different Ifrinn brother Flint, Phoenix, Ash and Blaise. Throne of Fire follows Ash and Hannah O'Donnell.

Ash drew the proverbial short straw and is "chosen" to marry Hannah in the arranged marriage that will bring her family on their side against Kean. He is broken, bitter, cold, emotionally unavailable and is set on revenge no matter the cost.
Hannah is innocent, nieve, sheltered 18 year old who dreams of college, her love of art, friends and even falling in love unfortunately she is just a pawn for her father to use. She's forced "sold" into an arranged marriage to a man she's never met to save her family. It's heartbreaking to see and feel her pain as she experiences the heartache of everything she has lost. Through it all she's determined to make the best of what life has dealt her even trying to help him as her heart is breaking.

While this story has some dangerous aspects I found it more emotional- centered around pain, anger, grief, guilt, denial and longing. While I understood his torment he still needed a very hard shaking and swift kick in the a$$ for everything he put her through.

I can't wait to see what happens with Phoenix and Kiera in King of Ashes.

This was an entertaining story from the very beginning! Immediately I was hooked and enjoyed this from book one. Though this can be read as a standalone, it does belong to the same world. The writing is great and I was entertained start to finish. The chemistry and the characters were great and I felt so bad for our h.

She was trying to make the best out of a situation and he had a revenge plan in mind and a cold heart. But she was unknowingly thawing him...

I was so proud of our h, she did all the right things and tried to be strong. He was still grieving and I understood him just not where the physical aspects came in. I don't understand touching someone in that way without feelings. But she was getting to him. The story was so good, I'm hooked on the whole idea of revenge and of them. I don't do the previous partner thing and I do wish that he hadn't mentioned a certain person so often. I did of course get frustrated with him and I expected that considering the topic. It was just a lot and my heart absolutely broke for our h as she kept getting her heart stomped on. Intriguing and I can't wait for more!

I didn’t know where this book was going at first. When I started reading, it honestly felt a bit childish ( first 3-4 chapters) and that completely threw me off because I’ve never felt that way about Ajme’s writing before. (Maybe it was because the FMC is just 18? I’m not sure.) Thing is Hannah did sound like that at the beginning but she definitely grew up fast.

But I kept reading because the premise sounded so promising and thank God I did. This book turned out to be absolutely magnificent.

THE ANGST?? It wrecked me. 🥹 I was full-on sobbing. It hit so hard, so unexpectedly. This story has officially earned its spot on my list of top angsty reads, and I already know I’ll be picking it up again the next time I need a good cry.

“I have to accept that despite this spark that sometimes charges between us, I’m never going to have his heart.”

“My life is now committed to a man who will no doubt break my heart.“

“She makes me want things I swore I'd never want again. That is the thought that freaks me out.“.

The story was so-so. The male lead was ur typical messed up in the head type of guy. The heroin definitely showed some back bone, she wasn’t too much of a weak girl. And considering her situation and how she grew up i understood her for not being able to stand up for herself some times. Idk why but somehow the Writing style was good enough for me to actually dive into this book and not just dump it mid way. The heroin is 18 and she ends up in an arranged marriage with guy who lost his girlfriend due to a fire, caused by his enemy. He wants take revenge on them so he ends making a deal with the heroins parents for their support and as an assurance he ends up marrying the heroin. The heroin tries to break his wall, work together, make him realize its ok to love someone and be happy While still honoring the the loved one. It was was decent book and i liked the writing style so i would say 4.3/5 stars..not bad

This dark mafia romance series follows the Ifrinn brothers and this is Ash's story.

This book contains:
Forced proximity
Forced marriage of convenience
Age-gap
Secret pregnancy
Angsty slowburn

The FMC is Hannah, she's young but she uses her voice. She's assertive when she wants something and fights for it. She wants the marriage to work between her and Ash even though it was arranged but she keeps getting rejected.

The MMC is Ash he is tortured by the past and it's difficult for him to move on. He wants this marriage to be in name only but has a hard time fighting his attraction to his new wife.

The tension and the angst were so good. The banter between the two MCs was great. I just loved the build-up and that moment when their restraint snaps. I love the unexpected twist the story took and the wonderful HEA.

I can't wait to read the last book in the series, Phoenix's story.

Hannah wanted to be starting college with her friends instead she was getting married to a man she never met. Ash Ifrinn was getting married to secure aid to take down the man that killed his parents and his beloved Meghan.

Ash has a lot of baggage from Meghan's loss and his new bride sets his blood on fire. But this is just supposed to be a business relationship. Hannah believes in the beginning that her husband has a mistress. He runs hot and cold with her and is constantly hurting her with his actions.

When he starts to care for her, he becomes more of a boomerang. The story did not disappoint, hope Phoenix's story is coming.

When Hannah is sold into marriage to Ash, a man old enough to be her father, he doesn't want her initially. But they are fighting a war and she is in the firing line.

Loads of suspense that keeps you compelled to read. Ash is bound to his past and resistant to let Hannah in. But when a rival is focused on getting Hannah, Ash realises what he had to lose.

Hannah gets under his skin though, and soon the relationship reveals a secret that could cost them everything or save them.

So well done. I couldn't put the book down. This series has been the best and I can't wait for more. Fantastic book!!.

Hannah had been raised knowing she would have an arranged mafia marriage but she didn't expect her father to use her to pay off her his debt. Ash was still haunted by his girlfriend's death when the Kean's burnt the family home and killed his parents. He feels that he doesn't deserve to have a happy relationship and wants their marriage to be in name only. But Hannah wants more.

The brothers are nearly ready to take back their family's place in the mafia, but Ash doesn't want to risk the woman he is becoming attached to.

I loved how Hannah coped with a husband who avoided her and the dangers in her life.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

This installment was good, though it didn’t quite live up to the first or second book. The plot felt slower, with not a ton happening in terms of action or big twists—but it served a different purpose.
It was more about emotional healing for Ash. Watching him work through his trauma was meaningful, and Hannah was exactly the steady presence he needed. She was incredibly patient and mature throughout, offering him the kind of calm and understanding that made a real difference.
Their dynamic ended up being sweet and grounding, even if the story itself didn’t have as much momentum. Overall, a softer, more reflective addition to the series.

From the very first book I've enjoyed everything I've ever read by this author but, I think Throne Of Fire may just be my favorite! This is an angsty, slow burn read that pulled me in easily enough but oh my goodness, the further into the story the harder it was to put it down. Hannah, for me, was quite a surprise. She has a gentleness about her, a quiet demeanor and soft personality. But, she's a tough cookie. Ash already had his mind made up as to how things would go. Vengeance was his top priority and he had no room for anything more. Hannah was just a means to an end, nothing more. This book is a fantastic, intense, emotional story and definitely a must read.

Quickie Review: I came into this series 2 books, too late. You definitely don’t have to read the previous 2 but I just know I missed out on some fantastic stories and sizzling romance. But even still, this book was so very amazing and I absolutely adored Hannah. She is definitely a better woman than I when it comes to dealing with Ash. I wouldn’t have held back on the things I wanted to say to him through most of the story. Even still, I couldn’t help but love him as well. Together these two make an amazing couple. I just hated it took Ash so long to see it and see past his grief. All in all, a truly fabulous story. I cannot wait to get Phoenix’s story next. 5 Stars.

This is a part of Williams' Kingdom of Sinners series and can be read as a standalone. This book is probably my favorite so far. Our main characters are Ash and Hannah. I just loved both of them and together they are perfect, but I hate it took Ash so long to see the truth of it all. This is such a well written and captivating romance with all the angst and all the romance with so much in between. A mafia romance with twists, family secrets, political dynamics and more. This book is amazing, and I can't wait for more from Williams and this addictive series!

Third Ifrinn brother Ash, is still mourning and broken from his girlfriend dying in the intentional fire that killed his parents. ten years ago. He agrees to marry, on paper only, the daughter of the family the brothers feel will help take down the person who killed their parents. Hannah, only 18, wanted to go to college, loves art but now is married to a broken, haunted, guilt ridden man. Loved this story. I think it's my favorite of the series so far, I read it in one day, Ajme did a wonderful job with Hannah's character. young but strong and smart, able to take on such a complex, broken character as Ash.

In Throne of Fire, the third book in the Kingdom of Sinners series, Ash Ifrinn, a broken and vengeful man, is forced into an arranged marriage with Hannah O’Donnell, an innocent 18-year-old pawn in her family’s alliance against Kean. Hannah, dreaming of college and love, faces heartbreak but strives to make the best of her situation, even trying to help Ash. The story dives deep into pain, anger, grief, and longing, with Ash’s torment needing a wake-up call for the hurt he causes. The next book, King of Ashes, will follow Phoenix and Kiera.

Ash and Hannah’s story has her becoming his wife, sold by her father, into a loveless marriage for revenge by her husband. He is unfeeling, uncaring and doesn’t love her but she helps him start to feel again. He carried these feeling for his dead love, Megan, and his parents that perished in a fire. But then you three in a surprise pregnancy and wow did that twist get the eyes open. Not only did the bros get their revenge but these two got what they deserved.

Ash was a man devoted to revenge and needed to make an alaince to gain more power to go after the Kean family. Marrying Hannah was to give him that alliance, but he never wanted someone to love after he already lost his love, but Hannah brings out something new in him, and when troubles highten Hannahs secret growing inside her could be the tipping point. Well written steamy desires, age gap  action, drama, push and pull and more!

Throne of Fire by Ajme Williams is the story of Ash and Hannah. A deal is made and Hannah becomes his wife, but he has reasons for this marriage. He wants revenge. Hannah is the means to that end.

This was a fabulous story! The backstory with Ash just seemed to go on and on…the extent of dealing with that was a bit too much. The rest of the read was incredible!!! Hannah is an angel. Ash just needs to grow a backbone. Otherwise, the story was incredible!!!

I loved this gritty tale of death, revenge, grief and learning to love again. I liked the chemistry between Hannah and Ash. Hannah met her new husband on their wedding day. He was grieving his first love and she a virginal bride. Can she get through his grief to find love? Happy ending included with a cliffhanger.
