About the author

Cathy Wiley is the author of the Fatal Food Festival series, featuring a former celebrity chef who's trying to regain her career. There have been three short stories in this series published in the Destination Murders anthologies, and the first full-length novel, Claws of Death, will come out on July 29th.

She’s also written two other mystery novels set in Baltimore, Maryland, and has had almost a dozen short stories included in anthologies, one of which was a 2015 finalist for a Derringer Award.

Destination Murders #5

This collection of shirt stories all of mysteries around graveyards. Each story has the authors trademark characters. There are many familiar names and some new names to the cozy mysteries.

Just in time for Halloween, we get this fun collection of murders set in and around graveyards. In addition to the unexpected dead body or two, we also get involved in revenge, teenage parties, amnesia, family feuds, and an escaped convict. Many of these stories are set around Halloween, although a few take place at other times of the year. And yes, a couple lean into the spooky, but it always fits the story, so I didn’t mind.

Many of these authors featured their series stars. I’ve read many of those novels, so it was fun to spend time with them. For those who I haven’t met outside of these short story collections, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything with the stories we got here. Each story was fun, taking me about half an hour to read. With nine stories, we get plenty of content. I was smiling through most of them, even laughing some. And the stories kept me engaged from start to finish.

Whether you read this book now or open it in a different season of the year, you’ll enjoy these stories.

Murder in the Graveyard is a fun selection of 9 Halloween short cozy mysteries. It is part of the Destination Murders series. The authors are Meri Allen, Leslie Budewitz, Karen Cantrell, Misha Crews, Eleanor Cawood Jones, Tina Kashian, Daphne Silver, Rosalie Spielman, and Cathy Wiley. The Halloween stories are about their book characters, Halloween and graveyards! They were all enjoyable and perfect for a quick Halloween tale. I received a copy for free from Rosalie Spielman and I voluntarily leave this review. #MurderInTheGraveyard
