Southern Boys #2

Finding Gavin

Rate this book
Gavin was a broken hearted cowboy from Savannah...

The one she fell for even though he tried to warn her away.

Maria’s entire life had been one rejection after another, always going after things that were just out of reach.

Gavin was no exception.

She wanted him, so desperately...

But life had a way of making things unattainable, at least for her anyway.

Just when things began to change, once again the darkness glooms, and Maria finds that her happy ending may once again be…

Unreachable.

Gavin pissed me off.

Don't like the way he used Maria. So he was coming off a bitter divorce with a cheating ex...boo hoo Gavin. Get over yourself.

Was disgusted when he slept with another woman AFTER Maria and during Maria. Maria had enough abandonment issues to deal with, she didn't need this douche.

This is not a H.

Note to self Avoid. Cheating.

H had sex with ow after having sex with h, then continue to have sex with ow while having sex with h.

Read book 1 in the series, didn’t care for the writing style. Boring love scenes too.

I'm not rating it because it didn't feel like a complete story to me.

Unrequited Love Trope

Many of the reviews for this book are misleading because they mention things that happened in book 1, not what actually happens in this one. I read book 1 about 2 yrs ago and I don't remember anything at all about Gavin and Maria (they were secondary characters in that book). I thought this was a standalone, that I wouldn't have to reread book 1, but it didn't turn out that way. It felt like I was missing their entire backstory even though I did get the gist. That's what happens when authors give their secondary characters too much story, and then expect readers to know or recall all that background info when they give them their own book. I didn't remember shit. It was like landing in the middle of a story. I even thought I had somehow opened the book in the middle. Anyway, 'Finding Gavin' was very anticlimactic with lots of filler. The angst happened before the book opens, in book 1, apparently. Not much happens here. All I know (based on the limited background story provided in this book and in the reviews) is that Maria had been at Gavin's beck and call for a long time...a bit pathetic, if you ask me. He strung her along (for reasons), used her while he saw other women (I'm assuming in book 1), until he was finally ready to get serious with her (in book 2). And she, of course, forgave him in a heartbeat. It seemed like he suddenly switched gears and wanted everything with her. They get their HEA. The end. Blah.

I'm a sucker for a free book. I'm kinda wishing I had read the first book cause it was a little hard to follow at the start, but once I got past that it was all gravy. Gavin was a big ol' yummy southern boy with some angst from his past. Mari past had some angst too, but she pushed through it easier than Gavin. Together they were so sweet and boy were they hot together. Then next book is her brother, Cole, who is going to be just amazing.

Now I need to find the time to go back and read the first book cause it's their bffs who were just amazing in this book, and I bet even more so in their own book. For those of you who read the first book there's a bonus chapter with just Kori and Reed.

If only Maria isn’t a desperate, pathetic, no-self-worth woman then this could’ve been good.
The way she had abandonment issues that was just glossed over by the male lead. Boo-hoo! He had a bad marriage, he can’t trust woman anymore. Fuck him for making everything about him.

Oh and also, reading book 1 of this series, Gavin slept with the OW two times AFTER he slept with Maria, his reason: he was trying to forget about Maria. Please he’s such a laughable garbage. Gross.
Maria took him back mind you. Disgusting woman.

I don’t know why the author does this.
The story between these characters begins in another book, forgiving reed, and I hoped this book would start with the beginning of their story but nope, it begins when too many things happened and the characters have already broken up, so it starts when the hero comes back and wins the heroine back, but honestly, who cares?
The most important and interesting part would have been when they first met, when the heroine found out he was still married, when he had sex with her then dumped her and went with another woman because he didn’t want any commitment, and when the heroine found out that he could have a child with his almost ex wife.
All this, which would have been very interesting, juicy and angsty, is not even mentioned here.
wtf?
Why write a book when the most important parts are missing, only to focus on the characters reconciliation especially when the best part is what happened before their break up?
I don’t know and I don’t care.
The book is boring, and what I wanted to know, their story from their meeting to the breakup , is not present.

Spoilers from the previous book:
I hate that he slept with another woman more than once after and during the time he was sleeping with Maria. And he TELLS Maria that she's just sex and that he was sleeping with someone else. Omg, where is the friggin self respect? She had feeling for him and took what she could get. If she was just for the physical, that's different. BUT, she really cared for him and just took what he gave her (and gave to another woman also). I mean, asshole! Now he comes back saying he was wrong and all this. I just... Idk. He should have treated her better, respected her more. He threw her like garbage and I don't think I would have taken him back. Whatever though, it kept my attention I guess.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Review by Lisa Kane

I adored CA Harms' Forgiving Reed and Maria and Gavin were secondary characters in that first book. Maria is Kori's (the heroine of FR) best friend and Gavin works for Kori's parents around their farm. In the first book he was new in town, having come from Savannah after he and his wife split up. He and Maria hooked up a few times, and even though he told her that he wasn't looking for a relationship, Maria fell hard for him.

As this story opens, Gavin has left town. Maria has gotten only a few text messages from him, but no explanations for why he left. She has to face facts; what they had was casual and fun but it's time to face facts and move on. She accepts a date from another guy.

Meanwhile, Gavin comes back to town, without contacting her. She finds out from Kori and runs into him at her parent's farm. She is determined to ignore him; if he doesn't want a relationship with her, then who needs him? Lots of other hunky fish in the sea.

"I heard from him three times while he was gone. Three blunt, nothing special text messages were all I was worth to him. But there has been nothing for the last week, so I got the hint. I won't force anything from anyone. I am fine with it all, no need to dwell on it,"I insisted.

Gavin just wants a chance to explain why he left and what is going on in his life. It's not an ideal situation but he wants to be honest and upfront with Maria. Despite his best efforts to avoid any more complications with women, he is drawn to Maria and can't seem to stay away. Maria has abandonment issues because her father left his family high and dry and didn't look back. So trust for her is hard.

"Maria, you are a compassionate, loving person. I know how your father's leaving all those years ago has affected you. You don't think you deserve anything good, but you are so damn wrong. You deserve the kind of happiness that leaves you feeling like you're floating. Like nothing in the world could hurt, because the happiness you feel is too strong."

Finding Gavin has less angst than Forgiving Reed. Gavin's cheating ex stirs up the pot and there are a few heartbreaking moments that gave me the stomach drops. Being the angst lover that I am, I would have liked a little more bitter and a little less sweet in the story. But there was enough to hold my interest and kept my fingers turning each page. This is one series that I hope keeps going strong.

Maria certainly has an interesting family. She reconnected with them in this story and I suspect we may be getting a few sequels there. I have to admit, her brothers sound quite lickable and I am willing to bet there are some wild stories to be told with them!

"Do you know that you can still make my heart race with just your smile? I think about you all the time, every second. I've had life without you, but I didn't care much for that life."

Great story. I really enjoyed it. The characters grew in every way and the love was all over this book.

The topic of adoption was wonderful and made the story even better. Gavin was wonderful once he got his act together. He was warm loving and caring, everything Maria needed. Yeah I just inserted myself as her since we share the same name. Too bad she and I don't look anything alike.

Great read I will definitely read the next one! Enjoy!

I am not very impressed with this book. First of all, there is a ton of back story that I missed because I didn't read the first book.

Second, (spoilers) it's hard to have much sympathy for a girl who starts an affair with a man who is still going thru his divorce. Of course he isn't available yet. He's still technically married.

Third, someone needs to take this girl to the Dr and get her on the pill. She is just TSTL sometimes.

Lastly, the writing is rushed, disconnected and more tell than show. The romance just didn't jump off the page for me. I skimmed most of the second half. I will be deleting this from my kindle.

Thank goodness for blogging! Without it I may never have discovered this brilliant series. Hot cowboys and feisty females make for great reading in my mind. Maria is a strong female on the outside but inside she doesn't believe she is good enough for anyone to love her. Gavin is going through a traumatic divorce and had put big walls up around his heart. However, the sexual chemistry between the two of them is palpable and exciting but can they put their pasts to one side and focus on each other?? I love that C.A.Harms weaves the characters from book one Loving Reed, into this boo, this helps to make the characters more real and their lives more accessible This is an author and series which I am looking forward to reading more from in 2015. I award this book 5 stars ~ Rosie

Each book by this author amazes me more than the last. I loved book one but this may be my favourite.

The main characters are Gavin and Maria. Maria doesn't feel as if she deserves love. While Gavin goes through a nasty divorce Maria's past comes back to haunt her. Can these two survive and find happiness.

This is a really brilliant and touching story. This author certainly knows how to capture your attention. Looking forward to book three:)

Just could not connect with this one - I think I became disengaged when the 2 MCs said they wanted to start their relationship fresh by the 4th time? Might have been more than that. Too much going on in this one, too much repetition, and not enough depth. Could not stay interested - kept starting and stopping. 1.5 rounded stars.

Before I say anything else you need to read the first book in this series if you don’t want to feel completely lost.

Maria the best friend of the heroine from book 1 and is the main attraction here along with Gavin who was also in the first book. So, Gavin is in the process of getting a divorce from his wife who cheated. He’s not looking for anything serious, or in other words he’s got more than on woman on the go. I wasn’t keen on Maria or Gavin, he was a user IMO, was I meant to feel sorry for him because his wife was a cheat, so he felt it was okay to use other women.
Maria was a bit too desperate and overly emotional, but she should never have got involved with Gavin as technically he was still a married man, his wife and soon to be ex wife was constantly in his life, so Maria should have steered well clear.
Overall this wasn’t as good for me as the first book.

Finding Gavin helped me get over hating Gavin in the previous book! I loved the turn the story took after a dance....it made my heart feel good. I was also impressed with the conversation that took place at the gas station. What am I talking about - guess you should read it to find out.

This is an enjoyable read about a country boy fighting his feelings and the feisty gal his heart wouldn't let him ignore.

**JOSIE'S REVIEW**

I love this author. Her writing is remarkable and her story plots are captivating and intriguing. I have loved every single book that I’ve read from this author so far. After I finished Forgiving Reed, I was anxious to get my hands on Gavin and Maria’s story because from the little bit we got in the first book. I just knew it was going to be a good one. First off, I love Gavin but I’ll be honest, Reed had my heart and after the first book I wasn’t left liking Gavin that much. The author did an amazing job expressing Gavin and Maria’s feelings and thoughts in this one. Finding Gavin is an emotional journey, one that will make you cry, laugh and swoon.

We first met Maria in book 1. Maria’s character is strong, intelligent, loyal and giving. Against her better judgment she falls for Gavin after his warnings of not wanting to have a relationship. After giving into one night with Gavin she is left destroyed after he leaves her to head home for 2 weeks. Maria is determined to get over Gavin, his lack of commitment and cold treatment. When he returns she is not prepared for his change of attitude.

Gavin is damaged and unable to commit after having his heart broken. He is dealing with his past and trying get over his past. He was attracted Maria in a way he has never felt before. The more she pushed the more he fell. After their passionate night, and his two weeks away he realized he wanted more with Maria and now he has to make her give him another chance.

“I think it’s about time we stop running from this, don’t you?”

“Running from what?”

“From us, what we both feel. I don’t want to stay away from you. I’ve tried to, but I just can’t anymore. I’ve pushed you away. I know this is all on me. I just don’t want to keep you at a distance at a distance anymore. I have a mess going on in my life right now but damn it, I want you. I need you, baby.”

Gavin and Maria are patient with each other the second time around. He has changed and really gets to know everything about Maria. Maria as well starts to let her guard down with Gavin and slowly they start to build a solid foundation. They develop a love neither thought was possible. I fell in love with Gavin in this book. He wasn’t afraid to lay his cards out on the table and admit just how much he was wrong when it came to having a relationship with a woman as giving and caring as Maria. After Gavin opened up about his past, Maria never faltered in her love and devotion for him. I knew I loved her after the first book but after reading book 2 I just really connected with her. She became the heroine I wish I had by my side, as my best friend.

“You didn’t do it own your own. You were honest with me from the beginning. I was just dumb enough to believe I could walk away and not want more from you. That’s on me.”

“I just hope that we can overcome the mistakes we’ve made. I need to show you that I’m not the man I let myself become. You’re worth so much more than what I’ve given you.”

Just as things start picking up between Maria and Gavin, fate steps in and changes Maria once again. Gavin is shocked and does the one thing he promised he would never do. Things are not easy for the Gavin and Maria. There are some outside sources that make it hard for them. I love that the author gave us just the right amount of tension and angst. I loved this book and really enjoyed the surprise at the end. I loved reading the sneak peek for the next book. It looks like it is going to be one heck of a read.

No surprise that we have another 5 star read for me by C.A. Harms !! Her books are just so easy to read and follow. You get all the things you want wrapped up into a great story. Then to boot you get a lead in for the next book in the series and you are already hooked and waiting for it !! At least that is how I feel when I read this author !! Her characters always seem so real and easy to relate to. There are always plenty of real life issues they have to struggle through and although some things may come easy not everything does and the heartache and drama really grab you and pull you in. The covers for the Southern Boys series are a big help with the nice visual they present !!

We met Gavin and Maria in book 1 but now we get their story , the stories of their pasts and the hopes for their future !! Gavin had been fighting some demons when he and Maria met but regardless of what he said he had to offer Maria wanted anything he was willing to give. Of course she fell hard and was very hurt when Gavin left to go home and deal with his problems. With a lack of contact and a broken heart Maria sulked and needed a good butt kicking to get back in gear. This is where we find her to start this story. On the verge of dating again , trying to get her happy back and BOOM Gavin comes back to town. On top of this Maria's family is struggling with a few things and for the first time in years and years Maria has to face the father that walked away from her as a kid. It was heartbreaking to read of Maria's pain and follow that brief journey of forgiveness with her father. To be honest in the beginning of this book Maria really cannot catch a break. After all these things she then suffers one more big loss and right as her and Gavin seem to be working things out this loss pushes them apart again and this time there may be no going back.

Gavin and Maria's journey is full of heartache to start but stick by them and you will see the beauty they create and be able to celebrate in their joy because they both deserve it and by the end of this story you will want for nothing more than their happiness !! There are a few sweet surprises and as I said A LOT of heartache and suffering. BUT Maria and Gavin are of course electric and the hot and steamy scenes are pretty freakin great !! Something about a table and thrusting thighs are just a few vivid memories that come to mind !! I love how you end up with dual POV's and I also love the added bonus in the epilogue. I love the connection with friends and family which lets us have more of Reed and Kori's story and meeting new potential characters for future stories !! Of course I am impatiently waiting for Loving Colt !!

Gavin has lost faith in love completely due to destructive marriage and a wife that he is still trying to get divorced from but that didn’t stop Maria falling for him, and falling hard. But when Gavin disappears after they sleep together Maria resolves to move on. It’s not that simple though and when both still have feelings for the other and Gavin begging for another go, will these two be able to make it work? And can they help bring happiness to others along the way?

“I had to believe he came into my life for a reason. Whether to jump start my heart or crush it, there was a purpose behind our encounter.”

This is the second stand alone within a series and I enjoyed this story just as much as the first. This was just a lovely romance story between two really relatable characters with enough drama to keep you interested and heart warming moments to make you sigh and bring tears to your eyes.

“Don’t lose hope in me. I just need us to fall together. We haven’t done any of this right. We’re starting over, and this time there’s no holding back, okay?”

Gavin was a sexy, slightly broken but caring man. Even at the beginning when he is being an idiot, I couldn’t help but love him. He did everything with the best intentions and he was so kind and sweet in his personality to not just Maria but everyone else as well.

“You’re a smartass and sarcastic. You test me and push me beyond control.” I narrowed my eyes at him and he chuckled. “But you also make me laugh, and you’re so damn sweet. Your kindness is genuine, and you make me weak in the knees.”

Maria was a woman I easily liked. She was strong in her own way and had a fire within her so you could tell she wasn’t one to be walked on. She was just as sweet and caring as Gavin so she was the perfect partner for him. Together what they did for the young boy Mikey was definitely a teary-eyed moment that was really beautiful.

“There is no doubt Maria deserves a happy ending. I just hope we can find it together.”

I loved reading about the previous characters and also being introduced to new ones, such as Colt, a book I can’t wait for! The plot was similar to the first but it’s a formula that works so why change it? It was sweet, amusing with heartbreaking moments but overall a beautiful romance you get to watch grow. I look forward to reading Colt’s story and hopefully getting a catch up with Gavin and Maria.

****** I Love Story Time was gifted an ARC in exchange of an honest review ******

4 Stars!!

I fell in love with C.A. Harms when I read Forgiving Reed, so when I saw the sign up for reading Finding Gavin I couldn't pass the opportunity up! C.A. Harms did not disappoint! I do have a bigger place in my heart for Reed, but I liked Gavin too! He seriously was the sweetest thing once he got his situation, situated! LOL. And let me just say, the cover of the book makes him even hotter! I could not believe what he was dealing with and just can't imagine having to go through that. I bet he was glad to be done and out of that relationship. Once everything was out in the open, I understood why he was pulling away from Maria, but I did also think that maybe he should have told her what was going on from the beginning. Maria was just as sweet as usual. We get to find out more about her life and family. She is so friendly and is willing to do anything for anyone. She is very lovable and gives love just as easily. I loved that Gavin and Maria were willing to open their hearts for someone who was in need of love. It truly was one of the things that I loved about this story. My favorite part was when Gavin finally told Maria how he felt....

"You hit me when I least expected it, and it scares the shit out of me. You're a smart-ass and sarcastic. You test me and push me beyond control. But you also make me laugh, and you're so damn sweet. Your kindness is genuine, and you make me weak in the knees. I told myself I wouldn't do it again. I said not matter what I would never again fall. Then you had to climb up in my damn truck that night Rhett was sick. You made me forget a moment what I had been there to do."

I really enjoyed meeting Gavin and Maria in Forgiving Reed, and I enjoyed getting to know them better in their story. I think this is a great addition to this series! I loved that towards the end of the story we got a bonus scene with Reed and Kori! It was the perfect ending by including a little about them. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series, Loving Colt! I read the beginning of it and it sounds like its going to be SO GOOD!! I can't wait!!

BEAUTIFUL!!!!

GAVIN IS PERFECT!!!

I met him at my friends house when he drove us to the ER, the night her little man got sick. I couldn't believe how handsome he was. He stuck around with us all night and when Rhett was admitted he drove me back to Kori's house where he crashed on her couch.

After that night we saw each other again and eventually we had sex. I never expected the feelings to come with it. I just wanted to have sex not fall for him. But he shut me out, he told me it was just sex, no meaning no feeling no ties. Did I listen? No. Gavin is going through a very messy divorce and he doesn't need attachments and he was very vocal. Now I'm hurt and miserable. He's been gone for two weeks and not a word from him. Enough is enough, life goes on and its time to get over Gavin.

Gavin, is back home in Savannah dealing with the ex who is just making this divorce drag out longer than it should. She wants to work things out, all Gavin wants is to get back to work and see Maria, the girl he didn't want to fall for but he is fooling himself. Ex wifey is trying to pin a baby on him. The evil hooker had an affair with Gavin's boss, the boss who called himself his friend.

Gavin is trying to figure out what direction he wants his life to go. Maria is trying to get over Gavin, and she has not clue that he only wants her. Eventually, they talk and feelings are shared. Sadly, Gavin needs to let go of his past before he can move on with his future. For Maria, her past comes knocking on her door in the form of her brothers asking her to please go see their father with them. Yes, the same father we hear about in Forgiving Reed. The one that abandoned her and created her twisted idea that she doesn't deserve love. Will Maria go to her dad to get closure? Will she finally realize she does deserve love? Will she and Gavin have a future?

I loved the way this story played out. What CA Harms did with Gavin and Maria is beautiful and I hope you all can appreciate the story of love and growth.

Can't wait to see where this series goes.

Love this book. Like really loved. It’s sweet and fun and happy and just wonderful!!!

Gavin is going through a lot at the moment. He’s dealing with a messy divorce and heartbreak from all that. He’s moved to another town and he’s taken on a job. He’s an amazing guy and when his boses daughter needs him to take her to the hospital because the roads are messy and her child is sick, he’s there for her. Oh….and her BFF…..

Maria is with her BFF when her child becomes very sick. Gavin drives them to the hospital and from the moment she hopped into his truck she knew. She just thought the feeling was lust or just plain attraction. Thinking one time would be good….get him out of her system.

She wasn’t that lucky. She halfway fell for him after that one time and he’s not able to give himself to her yet. He’s still got a lot of baggage to deal with.

The thing is so does she. She has a father that left her when she was four and she’s always felt that he left because of her. Her four older brothers all left with him too so it just became her and her mom. Along with a lot of resentment and self doubt for her. She needs to work on these issues of her’s too.

Maria wants Gavin so badly and she’s having to be patient. Will he finally realize that he needs understand that she is his other half? Will she work though her father issues? Can they come together and finally be there for each other?

I loved this book!!! I read the first one, Forgiving Reed, in order to do the review for this book. The first one is amazing too!!!! And I would recommend reading that one first. You might be a little bit lost reading this one without first reading Forgiving Reed. C.A. Harms has a new fan!!!

Highly Recommend!!!

5 Stars!

I love this series. I have been patiently waiting to get my hands on Gavin's story and let me tell you... it did not disappoint! This book was a sweet romance that took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions but in the end... I couldn't have been happier for their family! This book was sweet, sexy, naughty, emotional and had quite a few twists and turns along the way. And I will say that I liked this book TONS more than book one (and I totally loved book one, lol!).

This is Gavin and Maria's story. Gavin and Maria are at a crossroads. It was only supposed to be sex and only ever one time but Maria has feelings for Gavin. And Gavin, he has feelings for Maria but knows that he has to get his personal life in order before he can pursue things with her. When he decides to make his move he knows he has to make it now or it may be too late. As these two start to build a relationship, obstacles and new opportunities may stand in their way. Can Gavin and Maria get their happy ending? Or are they both too broken on the inside?

I loved Gavin and Maria together. Yes, Gavin was an idiot in the beginning but I also empathized with him so I understood his reasoning for holding back. And his back story was seriously sad but in the end the good prevailed. And Maria... man did she pull at my heartstrings at times. I felt for her and even cried with her. I loved their ending! Perfection!

And the next book... I NEED IT NOW!

I highly recommend this book!

This book in the second in the Southern Boys series. Although the characters do carry over from the first book, it is not necessary to read Forgiving Reed first. Maria has fallen hard for Gavin, a man who said they would have a couple of nights together but that would be it. He couldn’t give her his heart. His soon to be ex-wife was a witch-on-wheels, and Gavin vowed he would not ever fall under a woman’s charms again. But Maria has fallen and fallen hard for the handsome cowboy. He has left town and her heart is broken. She knows she needs to snap out of it as her best friend is getting married and there are so many things that need to be finished up in the coming weeks. When she unexpectedly sees Gavin again, the heartache starts all over again. They try to avoid each other as much as is possible in a small town. Maria has a bridal shower to plan and the wedding is just a week away and now she has a stomach bug which makes it impossible to do much of anything but run for the toilet. Maria is with her friend when the “bug” kicks in again and after she returns from the bathroom her friend asks her one of the most frightening questions ever…is she pregnant? Now what happens? Gavin has already said he wants to avoid commitment and now he may think she did this to trap him. How can you be so scared and yet instantly in love with something she wondered would ever happen, let alone with this man?
Book two in the series was really good too. I truly enjoyed learning more about Gavin, but I must admit, Reed is still my favorite. 4 stars

Finding Gavin is just that....Gavin trying to find out what he really wants in his life. Ok so we have all heard that line at one point or another, but after his soon to be ex-wife completely blind sides him and cheats with a follow co-worker his world come to standstill.

With a harden heart Gavin now is trying to but the pieces of his life back together one thing that he knows he doesn't want and that is a relationship in his life now.

Maria who is best friends with Kori from Forgiving Reed has wanted Gavin from the start but knows that Gavin cannot give himself to her. The thing about Gavin is that he was upfront to her that he could do sex nothing more. Is that enough for Maria..Absolutely NO!

While Gavin is trying desperately to get his life in order on the other side Maria is feeling like she will never have what Kori and Reed have together.

On top of this now Gavin's ex is trying to come back into his life after realizing that she still wants her cake and eat it too.

The story is about life's paths and which direction you choose to pick. You may think that you choose A when all along you know in your heart that B is the right one for you.

Since we met Gavin in 'Forgiving Reed' he had me intrigued, he's captured my heart, and at times pi**ed me off so I was excited that he was getting his own book, personally if the boy would have been honest and upfront I think things would have went differently. Once all the drama was over in this book I actually loved the relationship him and Maria had, "I boosted her up by placing my hand on her bottom. "Well, if you wanted to touch my a**, all you had to do was ask, handsome." If you haven't read 'Forgiving Reed' then I'm not sure, well actually I am sure you're not in on the joke 'thrusting thighs' between Maria and Kori, I was wondering when it was going to come into play and the author didn't disappoint me she snuck that in there before the book ended, "she grinned up at me. "you sure did. I believe you were gonna put those thrusting thighs of yours to work." Colt is our next victim, erm... main character in the next book of this series and I can't wait to see what happens to him erm... I mean what the author has in store for him.

Take one hot cowboy and one feisty gal - mix it up and BOOM! Maria + Gavin = Fireworks!

This is book two in the series and the main characters from Forgiving Reed (Kori and Reed), the first book, are woven into this story. It adds depth and I enjoyed seeing these characters again. After reading Forgiving Reed, I wanted Gavin's story!

Here's the run down - Maria is all sassy tough talk but inside, she does not believe in herself. She's got daddy issues. Gavin is the dark hero whose divorce hardened his heart. They can't fight their attraction but while Maria wants more, for Gavin it's just sex. Or is it? I hate cheating and there is cheating in this book but it's not an MC, like in the first book. It's a selfish, evil ex who can't let go even after destroying the relationship....the "I want my toy back after I broke it" mentality.

This is a story about allowing yourself to love and to making yourself emotionally vulnerable to do so. 4 big stars for this cowboy!

Can't wait for Colt's story next. Will "thrusting thighs" make an appearance there as well? Hope so!

This is a sweet, emotional follow up to book one (that was extremely emotional).

You find out what has been going on with Gavin and really start to think of him as the sweet, heartfelt hero that he is.
Our heroine definitely goes through some trials and tries to do them on her own.
There are misunderstandings, people going with knee jerk reactions that make this book a little annoying at times, but thankfully these things are short lived.
The only thing that I don't think made sense was Gavin's ex. The whole book she is written one way - and then out of nowhere she's completely different. I just felt like the author was trying to wrap everything in a pretty bow to leave no loose ends.
Other than that, it was a decent, sweet mild romance. Nothing OTT or crazy. Just normal with a little tiny bit of angst and a lot of heart ache.
