Man, I usually find these authors books to be decently enjoyable, if not great read, but this one was sloppier than usual. So many plot holes, no real character development, lots of contradictory info. 2 stars is generous for this honestly, but I didn't hate it and managed to finish it, so 2 stars it is!

My wolf isn’t moving. He just watches. Listens. And in the back of my mind, one thought won’t go away.

Lina looks familiar. A little too familiar.

I think the fact that I just love the secret baby trope and little kids in books is what made this one so adorable 💌💗😭🤍. The moment he came back into their lives and saw his little girl, Lina, you just knew. He didn’t realize right away that she was his daughter, and we totally got tricked into thinking Lina was Julian’s baby - but then he messed up the paternity test and switched it. For a second, I was genuinely worried because I really wanted Alaric to be the biological father. It wouldn’t have mattered either way, but I just didn’t want Lila connected to Julian in any way.

“Her name's Lila. Not peaches. Not fucking anything to you, nephew. You can play your games outside, but here? This is my space, my fucking office, my world. That means she is mine,” Alaric pauses, his breathing as harsh as his words.

The whole time Alaric’s been searching for Irene, his supposed mate from an arranged marriage, and he can’t be with anyone until he finds her. Turns out, it’s been Lila all along. That twist was pretty predictable - the connection with the moonbeam genetic disorder and the fact that Lina already had it made it obvious that Irene and Lira were the same person. Still, I loved Della. He was completely down bad for her, even though he messed up in the beginning by assuming she and Julian were working together to sabotage him for the Eiffel title. Once he realized how wrong he was, he truly regretted it, but by then it was too late.

“That girl…” he starts, and I know the minute he starts talking, it’s either I kick him out or knock him out again right here right now. “She’s Lila’s, isn’t she?” He pauses. “She’s mine.”

When he came back, though, he was such a good father 😭💌💖. He cooked for her, cared for her, and was so gentle even when he didn’t know for sure if she was his daughter. Whether or not she was, he showed up and stayed present, and honestly, that’s what saved the book for me. It was adorable, wholesome, and I’d totally read it again.

—*•.¸♡ ★·.·☾ ゚。´OVERALL゚☁︎。`·.·★ ♡¸.•*⋆—

Lila did frustrate me a little when she went to Julian, hoping he’d save his supposed daughter — especially since it wasn’t his. Leaving the safety of her home for that didn’t make sense to me, but I get that it was needed for the plot, so I’ll let it slide. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I had such a good time with it. It was written well, it felt warm, and I’d love to read more books with this kind of secret baby trope. So good.

This book was very predictable. (Possible spoilers ahead)

The alpha king is dying and you have two guys up for the spot. The uncle (H) and the son (villain) Whoever finds and mates with Irene will be alpha. (Irene has been missing for years)

The son has been dating h for a bit. She walks in and catches him shagging another woman. She goes to bar and gets drunk. Meets H. They know they’re mates. They have a ONS.
The next morning he finds her ID and knows that’s she is his nephew’s woman. He thinks she’s a spy for the nephew. He kicks her out after saying harsh things to her.

5 years later, she has a 4 year old daughter. From her POV, we know she doesn’t have any memories of her childhood (hmmmm it was so clear she is the missing Irene)🤪
She ends up working for H as his PA. There’s a bunch of back and forth.

Eventually, he finds out about the kid. The villain also finds out about the kid. What makes this different than most shifter books, h really doesn’t know who the daddy is between the both of them.

There is tension between H and h because she finds out about Irene and how he’s supposed to be with her.

So the little girl gets sick and naturally the cure- h needs to fully mate with the bio dad. She gets the samples and gives it to some sketchy doctor (one she’s never seen before😂)
Hahahahahaha I knew where this was going. The villain is the baby daddy. Did anybody actually fall for this? 😂😂😂

The villain gets h to come see him under false pretenses AKA kidnaps her and the kid, then ties them up. He admits he falsified the paternity results.

H doesn’t care. He still goes to save “his girls”
He kills the villain.
He learns the little girl is his kid

2.25/5.

Hm, this story read like a novella. It was a bit light on groveling and bonding between the protagonists Lila and Alaric. It also very much did not need to be a shifter romance--there was so little relating to werewolves in this story, it felt like an afterthought. This is probably the book that results when you ask ChatGPT for a story containing multiple disjointed tropes in one. It had a forbidden romance, a secret baby, and a boss/secretary trope all in one! But it was, in the end, a pretty superficial story.

a new author for me i loved this book. it was thrilling, gripping, emotional, well written, richly detailed and flowed well from one event to the next.
Lila has no memories of who she used to be and finds out her bf Julien is cheating on her so she runs going into a bar for a drink to figure out her next move. there in distress she ends up sleeping with alaric who next morning accuses her of the situation being a set up which she knows nothing about so she runs again. leaves town for a fresh start but then finds out she's pregnant. 6 yrs later she's back and has a new job which she is shocked to find out is for alaric. she is determined to keep things professional and keep her child a secret but julien works here too. both men have been trying to find their lost luna heir Irene in order to become alpha. this leads to all kinds of problems, betrayal, misunderstandings, danger, and more with Lila's daughter Lina becoming very sick. Lila doesn't know which man is her child's father and needs their help to save her child but all the while both are still trying to find Irene the lost luna which complicates everything between the three.
finally in a desperate bid to secure positioning after Lila's memories suddenly return and missing files are found, dangerous actions are taken that can't be undone and puts lives at risk. Will the right man step up and save both his child and his true mate or will the quest for power and position over ride everything and lead to the death of an innocent child? will the truth finally come out on who lila is and will she and her child be saved in time? i couldn't put it down and stayed up all night in order to finish it.
I received an arc copy from booksprout and this is my honest voluntary review.

The paranormal genre is alive and well, and Ms Leigh has added her own unique twist in this delightful read! Her imagination and ability to bring it forward to form a tale that not only intrigues but captivates the reader, is testament of her talent.
This particular story introduces us to Lila, Alaric and of course, Lina, the sweetheart that is likely to steal your heart before you can blink. As Lina navigates her difficult life, with memories limited to the later part of her life, her only motivation to continue to persevere being her beautiful and captivating daughter Lina, the fates continue to play havoc with her heart. Will she ever be able to trust again? And not only the male version of the population, but in the Goddess and Fate? Will life only ever bring her pain, or will the Fates finally send her a ray of sun?
Such a captivating and entrancing read! Can't wait for the second in this series!.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sometimes fate put things or people in place exactly where she wants them to get the outcome she wants despite the route taken. Lila ‘s life kind of imploded when she learned her boyfriend was cheating her so she heads to a bar for a drink only to wake up with the uncle and him upset claiming she was part of a set up leaving her further confused making her decision for her to leave for a fresh start but she didn’t realize she left the best part of him. Fast forward six years one little girl later she is back applied for new job with Alaric sexy as all get out uncle as her boss the one who claimed to be set up who pushed her to run and of course her ex. Julien works there to and dealing with them both is a problem add to that her baby girl is sick needing her father’s help but they are both looking for the lost Luna whatever she is but will they find her in time or after they after power only, who is her father, who is Lila really since she doesn’t really know who she is, and will they find happiness amongst the craziness?

Sometimes I pick up a book knowing that it will be bad, but hoping it will be bad in a good way, I guess? I mean... look at the title. I wasn't expecting a literary masterpiece, you know?

Except this one was just the good old fashioned kind of bad. One where the interactions are so over the top and contrived that I began to wonder if aliens wrote this because who acts like that outside of scripted reality tv?? The jealous mean girl trope in this one is so lazy and ridiculous, the dialog exchanges so juvenile, that it's almost embarrassing.

Worse, the reader basically knows the secret from the beginning - since the writer has all the allusionary finesse of a wrecking ball - so, we lose that as a point of interest pretty early on. And then we get a whole bunch of plot points that don't make any logical sense, but we're told they totes make sense! And enough plot holes to turn this book into a spelunking destination.

I'm all for a mindless read to just veg out and not think for a while, but this takes it a step too far for me.

No consistency it’s weird one minute her and Julian were together and the next they had already been broken up for a while I have no idea the writing was a jumble of inconsistency and poor timeline. Also them being shifters was just weird and honestly could have been skipped over it seems the only reason it was in was to have that insta love/bond going but also the locations were all off one minute they were all in New York and than it’s all happening in Phoenix idk the world building was just weird and disjointed I honestly wanted to DNF by about 30% but I tried to push though got to 60% and was like naw had enough him and Lina make a cake for Lila’s bday but instead of her being there since she was the one who wanted to celebrate her moms bday she’s not and Alaric is in a tux she’s in a barely there nighty and next thing they getting hot and heavy. why is she always mentioned to just be in a night gown every time she show up now 😑😑😑😑 seee inconsistent and just weird writing so DNF at 60% just know I did try but naw it’s so bad

My big question is this... Is this the same packs from The Alpha's Broken Bond? Since the Moonlight and Blackwood Packs are mentioned. I was trying to see if the villains are the same since as well and some of the names. Alaric Hells is the interim Alpha of the Blackwood pack since it was actually a race to find the long lost only daughter of the Alpha and Luna and one of a few survivors of the Moonlight Pack. Seeing the connections, but this Lila's mom was name Mira and the father was Chris and Chris and the Blackwood's old Alpha were best of friends, which the similarities ended. Since the daughter Lila in Alpha's broken bond had a father named Gabe and a mother, Aurora. Blackwoods old Alpha gave Alaric and his nephew, Julian, roughly the same age and no where near buddy buddy with the other, it was always one upping the other. They are to find Irene of the Moonlight Pack to unite the bloodlines and for the Blackwoods pack to gain what Moonlight pack has, a promise the old Alpha made to the Moonlight Alpha.

Lila Winters, no age since she don't remember her birthday or anything from her past before surviving on the streets, she was the subject to Jillian's half truth called love and now his cheating. Then at the bar drinking her woes away she feels a strong connection to a stranger later we know as Alaric and they have a night fling and he kicks her out thinking that she and his nephew are trying to pull one over his head, not knowing his nephew was with another women when he met Lila at the bar and she was running away. 6 years later of surviving life with her daughter Lina, not sure is Alaric or Julian is ther father, has been surviving in small town of Fairhaven is now in Phoenix and a new job at 'H' Industries as a secretary for the big bossman, neither one knows what's about to happen.

Alaric Hells, doesn't take no poo from anyone and his search for his Irene is hitting snags and his fated mate, the one night stand hasn't left his mind yet, but he knows he can't do anything about her since she's gone for good and plus he needs Irene to secure is Alpha position. Seems fate is about to bring his mate back but he cant claim her like his wolf wants and plus there is a new person with his mate that just makes his wolf get even more possessive. Will his nephew find out whos back and still try his schemes for the Alpha position??? Will Lila forgive Alaric or just keep him and everyone back?? What about her memories, will they unlock who she is? is she the missing piece or another piece of a different puzzle???

Ex's alpha uncle

Wolf shifter story with fated mates, secret baby, lost heritage, etc. This is a convoluted plot. SPOILERS: Lila catches her boyfriend, Julian, cheating; runs to a bar and falls into bed with his uncle, Alaric. Apparently they have a mate bond? But it doesn't mean much? So the uncle recognizes her as the girlfriend and thinks his nephew is setting him up. Innocent, she runs away. The uncle apparently has a previous "true mate" and an arranged marriage promise to the missing daughter of another pack. So, despite his mate bond (you can have two?) To Lila he ignores her. Of course she is pregnant but doesn't know which is the father. She moves away but comes back after six years, daughter in tow, for a new job. Naturally, unknown to them her new boss is Alaric. Ah, fate. Drama ensues, the search for the missing mate continues, and Julian continues being evil.

Not bad

Smooth, polished writing and good world building make this a worthwhile read.
However, if you, like me, devour books voraciously and have already read countless novels in the "rejected mate secret baby" subgenre, then this book will feel worn and familiar, with nothing to stand out. The tired cliches didn't bother me, but the lack of relationship development did. At the end of the day, I'm reading for romance, and in this books, things just.... happen. He goes from rejecting her to wanting her with no warning, and none of the past was hashed out before they were living together. I call that lazy writing, just scenes of push and pull then bam, they're all good.
A rejected mate secret baby novel with no angst and no grovel and no dramatic conversations/arguments..... what's the point?

A solid romance for Alaric and Lila

This was a good storyline with the twists of the Uncle Alaric versus the nephew Julian to become the new Alpha plus looking for the lost daughter to bring unity to the packs. This story had good pace and intrigue as both Alaric and Julian were searching for the lost daughter. I did not understand the Council and their demands because it was clear from the start that Alaric was the best choice for Alpha. Julian was so selfish and self serving, so how could he lead a pack when he only thought of himself. Lina stole the show! Lina had some great lines throughout the book. There is a happy ending. Read On!

Better Than Anticipated

Social media advertisement drew me in and so I found myself downloading this rejected mates book. I didn't know what to expect, though the title left me doubtful. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. The spice level is perhaps a 1 at best, but the story flows smoothly and the interactions between the FMC and the MMC felt genuine. As per usual, lack of communication plays a massive role in the story. But that's common in all books it seems. Knocked down a star because the formatting and dialogue are a little juvenile while the MMC does not do or say enough to earn forgiveness.

Cliche and trite.

The author says 6 years later, but the child is apparently 4. That should have prepared me for more continuity errors, poor grammar and formatting.
The story itself? Trite. There are a million free books out there that are better than this.
Lila is the most spineless wolf going, its genuinely embarrassing how stupid and gutless she is.
There's a scene where shes drugged and yet Alaric still has sex with her (which is non consensual if she's drugged obviously).
Honestly just so bad.

Every story that I read rejection. Every man and there is gorgeous gorgeous, but this story was adon't. A female who apparently is a lost princess and she doesn't know until later, but her so-called boyfriend is cheating. Having sex with somebody else so, she goes to a bar and meets his uncle, not knowing who he is and ends up pregnant and leaving and finds out later that he's her boss.

Six years later she gets a job as his personal secretary. She tries to keep it professional and his daughter a secret, but as in all good romances, fate steps in. Hidden identity…

SPOILERS

Ok, I knew she was Irene the second it came up in the story, because why else would it be a main plot line?

Regardless, this wasn’t too bad. I did enjoy the journey, even though I knew the destination. Julian was a good villain, Amanda was a decent wannabe OW, and adding in life threatening disease was interesting.

KU read. This is a good author, and she has interesting ideas. Her stories are not repetitive, which is great!

Mated to my Ex's Alpha Uncle

She's dumped by her boyfriend and has sex with his uncle the same day then disappears for six years. She moves to Phoenix with her daughter and unknowingly goes to work for the uncle. Lila has no memory of her childhood, she finds she is the missing princess the same time as her ex and his uncle. Everyone has been looking for her.

Read this a bit back so I don’t really remember a lot of the details. But I remember it was enjoyable quick read. Similar to a lot of the PPC werewolf novels but isn’t dragged out for 350 chapters, however nothing crazy original. If you love the PPC werewolf novel ads you see online you will enjoy this.

So good

Alaric is the hot OTTJ Alpha that makes shifter books go good. Lila is a strong FMC who finds it impossible to fight the pull to Alaric. I think they'd still have that pull even without being mates. I love shifter books and this one had OM drama in the form of her ex and his nephew Julian. It was a great read. I look forward to reading more from this new to me author.

Really good quick read

Super good quick read has a good amount of spice wraps everything up in a nice little package and doesn't leave much to question at the end. I would like more info on the actual sickness itself but with how quick this read was it didnt dive into it much.

This was a good rejected mates story. There wasn't really an original take and it followed the trope's typical format. The "plot twist" was kind of obvious early on in the book. With all of that said, it's still a decent book and I dont feel like I wasted my time by reading it. It's a quick and easy read if you're in the mood for some heartbreak.

Yeah

Yeah, an author who doesn't interupt the story with a 4 page sex scene several times. One of the many reasons I enjoyed this book though it didn't take me long to figure Irene out. But the story was so well written I didn't care.

It’s was great book. Loved the epilogue even more, which made me laugh. It hit a little to close to home. The chaos of married life with 4 kids. Reading is my little get away between the chaos.
