I have an interest in the overarching histories of our world; stories that do not focus on one point; stories that are not atomised to non-existence through repeated dissection.
In this regard, « Une brève histoire de l’économie » is a wonderful read. Daniel Cohen tells a story starting with the demographic explosion our species has gone through in the decades and centuries past, and the modern economies that we have woven today, their antecedents, and descendants. He tells a believable story, and I feel enriched by the theories he espouses, and the threads he weaves through it all.
A quick and simple read. Filled with ideas, and references, that a reader must then take the time to explore themselves. Definitely a brief history of economics, and nothing more. The text holds true to its promise.
