Rebel Rose Trilogy #1

Rebel Rose Rising

Rate this book
They took her sister. Now she’ll take her revenge—and maybe the heart of the man sent to kill her.

In a kingdom where women are enslaved as warriors or breeders, Reyna—the legendary Iron Rose—has carved her place as the fiercest fighter in the Seven Kingdoms. After years of spilling blood protecting the men who own her, she turns her blade against them when her beloved sister is claimed as a king’s bride.

With chains shattered and vengeance burning through her, Reyna disappears into the wilds—on the run and out for blood.

Only one man is strong enough to track her Sir Asher, Head of the Kingsguard. He’s never failed a mission, never questioned his orders—until he corners the woman who should be his enemy.

Now he must choose between duty and desire.
Kill her or kiss her.
Destroy her… or destroy himself.

His mission is to bring back her head.
But she may take his heart instead.

As sparks fly from more than just their swords, rebellion ignites across the kingdom. Ancient magic stirs. Forgotten allies rise. And one woman will burn the system that tried to break her—or be consumed by the flames.

Rebel Rose Rising is a fierce, slow-burn romantasy trilogy opener for fans of enemies-to-lovers heat, warrior heroines, morally gray men, found family, and rebellions that refuse to die. While this installment delivers a satisfying ending, Reyna's complete journey unfolds across three books. Book Two coming soon!

I would give this a 4.25 star. I throughly enjoyed the story and the characters. I love the concept of the storyline. I love that there is motive behind each character and when a moral conflict is presented (usually between Reyna and Asher) I can understand where both sides are coming from. While I did enjoy this book and look forward to what comes next, everything seemed to get resolved or agreed upon quickly and easily. There was anticipation by the characters, thinking it can go wrong, for things to work out smoothly every time. But I thoroughly enjoyed this read and when I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about the characters and wanting to get back to reading.

Overall, a solid story. It’s very fast-paced. You jump right into things with our FMC, Reyna.

The world is dominated by men and women are only here to serve: whether on the battlefield or in the child bed. Breed or bleed is the motto. Reyna never wanted to suffer the fate of being a breeder, so made herself physically unwanted and forced into being a warrior. She was going to be the best warrior she could be though, and was leader of the Iron Swordmaidens. These women were her life and she would give hers to protect them, including her sister Cassia. When Cassia is taken though to become the king’s wife and breeder, she fights to free her. Her only option is to escape and plan Cassia’s rescue.

Asher is head of the Kingsguard and sworn to protect his King and their way of life. He may not agree with it, but he must comply to not only protect his life but his brother’s as well. Born into a system they can’t control, survival is the only option. When the king sends Asher after Reyna to make an example of what happens when a woman defies the king, he knows he’s doing it to save his and his brother’s heads. When he finally corners her though, his admiration of her and what she’s fighting for makes him second guess between his conscience and duty.

They journey along their path to save Reyna’s sister, which only grows more and more into a revolution to free the whole kingdom, despite how dangerous Asher thinks it may be. Unlikely allies find them along the way, and it’s not only about making them trust him, but believe there are good men out there in the world willing to break the system. Will they be able to free Cassia and all the women of the kingdom or die trying?

This is a very fast-paced book. There’s some world building and I think the next 2 books will expand on the world as a whole. This book is obviously focused on their own kingdom. I can maybe see where some readers may not like that it seems that obstacles seem to be overcome quickly and things tend to work out in the MC’s favor. I was ok with the story and was interested in where it would go next.

The relationship between the FMC and MMC is enemies to lovers but overall is a quick transition between the two. Love developed pretty quickly. The spice 🌶️ is great though and there’s multiple scenes. I actually liked that despite the FMC being so against anything male dominated, at the back of her mind, when it comes to sexy time, she does like to be dominated a bit 😜 I like that because no matter how independent a woman you may be, there is something feral about a man taking control sometimes 🥵

At the same time, I think I need a bit more from Reyna in the next couple books. Asher does push back at her on some of her thoughts and plans in this book, because at one point, even I was annoyed with her, but I think I need him to push even more honestly. She kind of uses his love for her to get him to be ok with things you can tell he’s not. He’s loyal to her but that doesn’t always make her right.

This book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but is setting up for the next book (going to be a trilogy).

If I can make a suggestion for another couple I ship, even though there wasn’t any trace of it in the book: Cassia and Erik please 😝 I don’t know, I just like the idea. Especially maybe them sneaking around to accomplish it? Would love to see the next 2 books expand into other POVs too. Round out the story.

I enjoyed this one, romance, fighting, magical creatures, political intrigue and feminine rage.

Reyna, known as the Iron Rose is an Iron Swordmaiden, the finest warrior in the kingdom, she loves in an oppressive, misogynistic regime where women only have two choices, to breed or bleed for the kingdom. They either get married off against their will into a harem type situation or they are forced into warriors. Men generally treat them with contempt, abuse and hatred.

Reyna has been a warrior for years, since her beloved mother was executed for killing her abusive father and until now has bowed to the yoke and killed the King's enemies, but when her beloved sister Cassia, a fellow Swordmaiden is selected to be the King's latest bride she finally rebels and kills several of the Kingsguard. Imprisoned and on her wzy to be publicly humiliated and whipped she escapes and its upto Sir Asher, Head of the Kingsguard to track her down.

Asher submits to the regime, even whilst hating it and harbours a secret of his own, he is protecting his younger brother Eric, perceived traitors and their families are dealt with harshly. Asher is sent to capture or kill Reyna but has a huge fight on his hands, and when he spends more time with the Rebel Rose he realises his worldview has changed forever and he has a choice to make.

Can Reyna free her beloved sister whilst learning that not all men are hateful and cruel? Can she help free the oppressed women of the kingdom?

It was a fun, action packed, fast paced read. I liked some of the moral conundrums the characters faced, the magic was interesting. Reyna is a badass, strong, a terrific fighter, someone with an inherent need to protect others, there was somecworld building but I suspect this will become more apparent in the next books. Asher was an appealing MMC, a great fighter, equally protective of his brother, devoted to Reyna. And the side characters were interesting.

The romance was nice, maybe a little too instalove imo. I would have preferred a more believable slow burn. Reyna has distrusted and hated men all her life and that takes time to overcome. But there was some spice and sexy times. There's a HFN ending but Reyna's mission isnt complete.

I'd recommend if you like a warrior FMC getting her revenge. I look forward to the next book.

Excellent storyline for the times we live in

Great beginning to the trilogy.
The premise for this plot line is appropriate for the current political climate.
The writing itself is very simplistic and easy to follow.
Despite the dark subject matter, the book is a quick read with very little to no complex intrigue.
A straight forward good vs evil journey to overturn injustice so that women can live freely to make their own choices to control their own destiny free of reproductive enslavement & use as fodder for the kingdom’s army.
*Insta Love *Very Little Spice* Minimal Magic*
So far (in this installment) *Child Free
MC’s are a very determined & skilled warrior who leads the enslaved Women’s Army the Iron Swordmaidens & a very conflicted Capt of the Kings-guard, who up until this storyline, had always “followed orders” to subjugate women.
⚠️ Good read to relieve stress if you’re itching for some relief from daily “news” of Women’s Rights constantly under attack in real life.
We are all Iron Swordmaidens in this world.

This one jumps straight into action. The Rebel Rose Reyna and the Kings Guard out to hunt her down, coming together as a power couple for the ages. Reyna flees Ironheart after her sister is taken as a "wife" for the king. Asher is sent to come back with her head or lose his own if he fails. Through his hunt for Reyna he starts to see the woman she is. Fierce, determined, and ready for anything. He captures her multiple times and she escapes, although through it all he starts to fall for her romantically. Eventually she starts to fall for him as well. They travel through a variety of towns to obtain allies to go after Reyna's sister, but then the mission changes to saving all enslaved women in the kingdom of Ironheart. It is in saving Ironheart that love truly comes true. Will Reyna and Asher survive going into battle with six other kingdoms to change the Southlands ways? Stay tuned for book 2 coming soon. Can't wait!

.....and a let down

Book started really strong, but the author choose to be repetitive in the writing style taking three paragraphs to say the same thing just.in different ways, the storyline was over the course of a month, and felt like there was a crushed in plot was nd only surface level... The MMC fell for the FMC super fast and was basically a puppy dog chasing her around, and the FMC is an emotional character that is stubborn but doesn't think and operates with too much naive emtions... I found my self wanting the book to end and skimmed the last 50 pages....this is typically my genre of reading but it fell flat for me, I don't think ill continue this series

It was pretty good! Reyna and Asher made a great team. It was a lot of fighting for me, but it makes sense with the story, but I wanted more Reyna and Asher. I am sure that is coming int the story, though.

A bold, fast-paced sequel with gripping action, strong emotion, and electric chemistry. Reyna’s intensity and Asher’s inner conflict make this book powerful and unforgettable. Highly recommend and cant wait for more.

Inhaltsangabe:

So lernt man beide gut kennen.

If I read another book about an amazing FMC falling for a mediocre man who doesn’t deserve her I’m going to scream. The beginning was so strong, I kept going to see if he would get any better. But no. This would have been a perfect revenge story with no MMC at all.
