Quinn Miller, a polar bear shifter, is an enforcer at the North Pole. Protecting Santa’s Village is his number one priority, and the job leaves little room for anything else. A mistake made years ago hardened his heart, and he’d rather live alone than allow love to alter his judgment again.
Chloe Winters is free to celebrate Christmas for the first time in five years and she decides to spend it in Christmas Town, a popular tourist attraction, alone. When a sexy, muscle bound stranger offers her friendship, she’s reminded of her long ago wishes for someone to love her, curves and all.
When Santa issues an ultimatum, Quinn finds out the big man really does know everything. The challenge? Convince his curvy, damaged, mate that his love, and shifters and Santa, really do exist.
Book was ok, I just felt like it was missing something. She was angry then boom she sees him again and just wham bam and everything ok. I guess I just wanted more then just smexy times.
So adorable, sweet and sexy. "Jingle Bear" North Pole Series One is by Ruby Shae. Published: November 3, 2014 Read: December 12, 2016 My Rating: 5 Stars
I absolutely love Ruby Shae's bears. All of her novellas are steady to fast paced and can be read in a couple of hours. Her heroines are typically voluptuous and curvy; just what her large bear shifters are looking for in their mates. Ruby's heroes are largely built, sexy, tough, protective and loyal. Ruby is an author I like to keep an eye on.
The premise of the North Pole series is how the polar bear shifters of the North Pole find their mates. Each bear has their own personality and they are all sexy! These polar bears are the enforcers/protectors of Santa's village/town and all the humans and shifters that reside there. The cast of characters not only bring fun, love and romance, but there is witty banter and quirkiness with some light angst. And of course they all have HEAs.
Quinn Miller and Chloe Winters....
Quinn is a polar bear shifter living only to protect Santa's village. He is all work and NO play. Quinn is a grumpy bear living with memories of a past he wishes he could forget. Quinn refuses to open his heart again to the possibility of love for fear that he can't trust his judgement. And because of this, he is lonely and ill-tempered. However, Santa has decided that Quinn will brood no more! That said, much to his annoyance, Quinn is sent away on vacation. This is where he discovers his true mate, to his surprise. Now that he has found her, he'll have to find a way to convince her to trust in him. Not easy since she is a human and knows nothing about shifters.
Chloe Winters is a human. After a bad breakup she sets out to celebrate a well deserved Christmas all by herself. She ends up in a Christmas village type destination. It is here she meets the most gorgeous stranger she ever laid eyes on. Unfortunately he is a grumpy and rude.
I loved watching Chloe and Quinn discover their feelings for each other. Their attraction was instant however the path to their happily ever after was not overly rushed and I loved every minute of it. My favorite was watching grumpy Quinn change into a totally different person. When he decided to open his heart again to the possibility of love, he became a swoon worthy hunk of a hot bear!

A great short Christmas story about a grumpy polar bear shifter Quinn. He is an enforcer at the North Pole. When everyone complains to Santa about him, Santa insists Quinn take a vacation and learn to open his heart to love. He gets sent to Christmas Town and there he meets Chloe Winters. She has just come out of a abusive relationship and just wants to finally be able to enjoy the Christmas holiday. I enjoyed this and will be reading the next story in the series.
Whoever said Santa wasn’t real? Well kids everywhere believe in him and after this little story I could only hope the Jolly man in red was this awesome. This story takes place in Santa’s Village at the the North Pole. #JustSaying
We meet Quinn Miller. Tall, handsome and built like a skyscraper. Polar bear shifter, enforcer for the North Pole and Santa. He is a mean tempered, frustrated man and the only friend he really has is his friend Mark… he is a grumpy cuss so much no one wants to be around him. Quinn is called to see the big man. Santa. When he arrives at the office he is greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Seems its time for Quinn to find his mate. His one true love. But he is rather apprehensive about that. He had a mishap with a woman 10 years ago and he will walks around with the emotional and physical scars of that time in his life. He isn’t wanting to find a mate. But Santa -as any good diplomat- doesn’t give him a chance. Either he goes on a vacation willingly or they will force him too. Quinn does agree to start planning a vacation. But one thing Santa didn’t do was give him a time frame to have it done by. So, Quinn being a hard head decides to pretend to do it and then just get away with not actually doing it. (Tsk Tsk Tsk)
Meeting Chloe you’d think she was an average kind of gal. Tall, curvy and wild curly hair. You know, you average all natural gal. But Chloe has spent the last six months trying to get a handle on her life. She kicked her ex to the curb -something she should have done five years ago- and is going to Christmas Town for a few days. Her ex, Rick -scumbag, douchebag, ratbastard- that he was never wanted to celebrate Christmas with her. Christmas is Chloe’s favorite holiday. (I mean duh Christmas is awesome!!) So she is doing something for herself!
Mark, Quinn’s friend warned him not to try his wait it out plan. Santa knows everything! So… Quinn wakes up in the snow in his human form wondering how he got out in the snow. He is fully dressed. And the last thing he remembers was being in his pj bottoms. (laughs hard) When he stands up and looks around he has no idea where he is. He reaches for his necklace and its gone. That necklace is the only way to get to and from the North Pole. When he looks around more he finds Chloe trying to chop wood. He is assaulted with emotions and can’t help but think the big man had him right where he needed to be.
Anger though… since he is a grumpy cuss wins out and he makes his way to her. Sending her inside to chop the wood for her. Chloe is perfect for him, he knows that from first sight. She’s tall, has meat on his bones and she is beautiful. Chloe is apprehensive but… there is that feeling deep inside her. After the wood is cut he comes in and she offers him soup and coffee. Things start to go good but since Quinn has a burr in his ass he manages to get angry when he finds out she doesn’t have any real food in the cabin. He yells at her for stopping to get a tree and decorations but no food. This upsets and really piss Chloe off. She throws him out and the moment he walks away she wants to run after him. What’s wrong with her?
Quinn walks away as she ordered but with a list in his hand of what she needs he heads down the mountain into Christmas town. He will get whats on her list, get himself a change of clothes, a sled to pull it back up the mountain on and hope she will let him back in when he gets there. When he gets back Chloe is just waking from a nap to find the electricity is out. She is freezing and needs a fire. He offers her the sled full of supplies as a peace offering and they spend hours talking, decorating the Christmas tree and getting to know each other.
When the sparks fly between them they really heat up. Chloe is self conscious and thanks to her ex she is broken in a way.. a way that Quinn can fix. And the fact that he spanks her ass when they first get close is awesome. But he swats her ass to get her attention. (Thuds) That and his admiration is what helps Chloe see that this is okay. She is not something ugly she is a beautiful girl who deserves to feel the way Quinn makes her feel. They spend two days together, including a long day in Christmas town, eating lunch, diner and exploring the town. When Quinn leaves her sitting outside of the mall so he can step inside and get her something she is left to face her ex, who just happens to pop up. He berates her as usual but what Rick isn’t ready for is one pissed off Quinn to show up. Not only does he make Rick say he’s sorry but he embarrasses him with downgrading himself. (laughs)
When Quinn and Chloe get back to the cabin he sets the gift on the table and turns on the couch to talk to Chloe. It’s time to tell her she is his mate. And.. to tell her about Santa. About his scars. His past. The village and what he was. It was a lot to get out at once. I mean, deep down she felt he was telling the truth but her mind wouldn’t let her accept it. She was still hurting and broken from her past. She asked him to leave in the morning and locked herself away in her room and cried herself to sleep. When she woke he was gone and her mind was rolling. She hadn’t believed him but now she knew it to be true. But it was too late.
Chloe found the gift Quinn had gotten for her when they were in town. A ring. A large and beautiful ring. Her heart was breaking at the thought of never having him in her life. Just when she thinks all hope is lost.. Santa shows up and brings her back to the North Pole. She isn’t sure what to expect as she approaches him and the other enforcers in the barn. Of course he is hurt and pissed when she first arrives. Wouldn't you be? But after a few minutes of her confidently telling him she loves him and wants him.. that big growly bear turns into the gentle loving bear she makes him into.
Chloe wants him and he wants her. Forever they shall be as one in Santa’s Village at the North Pole.
I loved this. And maybe its the whole Christmas spin but it was good. The thing about short stories is just that.. they are short but with this one it was not rushed. Ruby’s story for the characters is just as powerful as one twice this long would be. Fun times, great characters and hot sex. Urm, what else could you want? Ha.
This was a short quick read that wished was longer. Quinn who is a polar bear shifter he is a guard who works to protect Santa at the North Pole. Chloe Winters who was in a bad relationship is free to celebrate Christmas for the first time in five years and she decides to spend it in Christmas Town when she meets Quinn they hook up. Quinn tells her he a polar bear shifter and that Santa is real she runs. Chloe is his true mate. This book put a whole new spin on the North Pole and Santa for me I just wished it was longer. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. This was my first time reading this author I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I was all " I love this " until the last 15% where the whole story flipped and it was her fault. That threw me for a loop.... 🤔🤔 but I still liked this sweet story.
This has to be one of my favorite little Christmas stories! The characters were so sweet and their back stories really broke my heart. But not to fear! The author sent Christmas magic their way and gave them back the holiday spirit. They even get a redo at defeating the Grinch, and it was fantastic! This book is sure to keep me occupied in my re-read pile until I get to read more from the author.
What could be more Christmasy than Santa's Village at the North Pole?
Quinn is a protector of the North Pole Village and Santa. After a bad experience years ago, he didn't trust himself to find the right woman to be his mate. He had closed himself off emotionally and he’d become a very grumpy bear. So, Santa and Mrs. Claus had decided it was time for a vacation – one involving women and finding his mate. So when he found his mate, with a little help from Santa and his magic, he was his usual grumpy self to her. But that didn't scare Chloe off. She was instantly attracted to him and knew there was more to him than what he showed the world.
Chloe was exactly where she wanted to be. In Christmas Town celebrating her favorite holiday – alone. Finally alone. She’d been in an abusive relationship for about five years. Five years of listening to him make comments about her size, her weight and every single thing he found wrong about her. She knew that she deserved better and when she found him cheating on her, she finally walked away.
Quinn was at the back of a cabin when he spotted the most beautiful, curvy woman he had ever seen His mate.
But his mate was human. And probably didn’t know one thing about shifters or North Pole enforcers. And she’d been hurt, even at first glance he could see that. Now all he had to do was convince this beauty to believe in the impossible and love him for a lifetime. Hmmmm… maybe Santa could toss a little Christmas magic his way – just in case.
Jingle Bear is a hot and steamy, delightful Christmas shifter romance. Chloe was afraid to trust again, and Quinn had been a grumpy polar bear for too long. They’re both going to need to make some changes.
I enjoyed this romantic Christmas story. Short, steamy and sexy. It’s a perfect escape for an afternoon’s reading pleasure. It was a fun quick read I highly recommend.

My review:
I have a soft spot for Christmas books. I loved this one. The very book to read when it's cold out and you're sitting in front of a nice fire with hot chocolate!
This was way too short. It was a little of everything. It had the Christmas element, the hot hunk element, the girl that knocks his socks off, hot romance and humor. The one thing it was lacking for me was depth. I needed a longer story. I will try this author's other stories to see if they are better and longer. This had potential, but was too short.
This could have been 3 stars, but it's really just OK, mostly because of the h. Only 2 stars, with a good bit of wasted potential.
Ruby Shea is usually pretty reliable for a fast insta-love, fated mates SPN romantic short story - nothing deep, but fast lunchtime-length reads. Usually pretty enjoyable mindless escapism. This one, though, I just couldn't get behind.
The premise is fun. Polar bears helping protect Santa and the elves and all that - the enforcement team at the North Pole. One particular grumpy bear (Quinn, H) is being sent out to find his mate (Chloe, h). Like usual with Shea's stories, everything is super speed, and everyone is super sized- big burly shifters and the BBW they fall for. I'm not particularly height sensitive (a highly average 5'4" myself), but it's still nice to see a tall h from time to time.
So where did it fall short? Chloe is really pretty airheaded. I'd say TSTL, except there's no life-threatening scenarios that put the L in life-or-death context. As it is, she's just dumber than a box of rocks. Like getting up there. She packs ornaments, stops and gets a tree, but not food. And when she realizes there's no food in the cabin, what does she do? Take a several-hours nap! And get mad when Quinn comments on the state of the cupboards! 'Who was he to control her?' attitude. He's right to be surprised, and with his personality, that does come off as gruff and angry - yes, he was overstepping, but he also had a point. But besides that - when the giant strange man shows up her cabin asking/assuming to stay with her. Sure! He brought groceries - and cookies - after all! And her previous relationship. Five years, and there's no hint, no flicker, of "when he used to be" before he became abusive. We get two people who weren't happy together, who hated each other instead, who weren't even attracted to each other (especially on his end) but they stayed together for 5 years?? She comes off as extremely weak because (she even acknowledges this) that 'it was better to be in that horrible relationship than to be alone.'
The pacing felt weird too, even for a short story. We gloss over a lot of the getting to know you chatter, and were left with two people saying they were attracted to each other, but with little chemistry and little tension to the relationship. She runs off and leaves him after he tries to explain about himself, but do we really care? And as much fun as Santa coming and calling her her out was, I was hoping that she'd unbarricade herself in the morning and find a sad polar bear curled up on the hearth waiting to talk to her. But I'm always a fan of private instead of public Grand Gestures.
More drama felt a touch forced too, but that comes back around to Chloe.
Alternating 3rd person POV. No cheating, no love triangles, minor OM drama. Would have been light holiday escapism, but bought down by an airheaded, spineless h and a lack of tension/chemistry between the leads (possibly due to my frustrations with the heroine, I'll admit). Still light escapism, but less fun. There are better ones out there. No cliffhanger but no epilogue either.
Would I read more in the series/by the author? Could be a fun world, and there are characters introduced who could be entertaining to read about. Shae is often good for a fast, light "lunch break length" read, plus can occasionally be found free on Kindle (bonus!) There just needs to be a better lead than Chloe.
Polar Bear Shifter Quinn Miller commands Santa's Enforcers (yes, it does sound like a Motorcycle Club) at the North Pole. After he was betrayed a decade ago by a woman he loved he's become quite the grump. And Mr. and Mrs. Santa ain't having it! “When was the last time you pulled a sleigh or gobbled up some sugar cookies?” St. Nick gives him an ultimatum – find his true love or get kicked out of the North Pole. Chloe Winters finally kicked her abusive boyfriend of six years to the kerb. This Christmas she's decided to visit Christmas Town and have herself a great time. Which works out quite well for her until she gets snowed in in her cabin. Guess where Quinn lands? They don't exactly get off on the right foot. Quinn has had enough of bossy men and his rusty social skills only make things worse. And, of course, the muscular hunk who makes her think of a Snow god “reminded her of everything she’d ever hoped for and everything she’d never have.” Ah! She's got that wrong! They are soon enjoying lots of sex and falling in love – until the obligatory misunderstanding temporarily drives them apart. “Jingle Bear” could have done with a tighter edit but it is nicely done. It's great fun. 3.5 Stars, raised to 4 Stars.
Quinn is a polar bear shifter who is an enforcer for Santa at Santa’s Village. Many years ago he thought he found his one, but she betrayed him by trying to expose Santa’s Village. Since then he has avoided all women. But he has become a workaholic and very surly, so Santa tells him he needs to go on vacation. He thinks he can outsmart Santa by agreeing but not picking a date. So Santa poofs him to a resort, where he meets Chole. She has finally gotten rid of her ex, he was mean and belittled her constantly. She’s settling in to her cabin at the resort when she realizes she needs firewood in case the power goes out. Quinn finds her trying to chop wood, he knows immediately that she is his true mate, Santa sent him to his mate. Then he messes up by yelling at her cause she was doing it wrong and could have hurt herself. She forgives him and invites him in for lunch. Again he messes up when he yells at her for not buying food but buying a tree and decorations. Upset that another man is berating her she tells him to leave. Feeling bad he heads into town with the grocery list he nabbed from her. He buts all her supplies and then some gifts for her and returns to her cabin. He apologizes and asks to stay, she forgives him and they spend all night talking and cuddling. When she wakes up she’s afraid he left but he tells her he’s not going anywhere. They head into town where while Quinn is off buying Chloe a engagement ring her ex shows up with his girlfriend. Says some mean things that Quinn makes him apologize for. Back at their cabin he tells her he’s a shifter who works for Santa. Feeling sad and angry he would lie to her she asks him to leave. The next morning she finds the ring and Santa asks her if she’s going to try it on. Shocked she realizes Quinn was telling the truth. Santa says he will take her to him. He’s mad when she first walks into his meeting, but she persists and tells him she loves him. He forgives her. They hangout in Santa’s Village then head to his place to mate.

I really enjoyed reading this holiday story. Chloe was an overweight woman with a terrible, horrible ex-boyfriend. He always belittled her and treated her so bad. She finally broke away from him and went out of a retreat for herself. That's where she met Quinn. He was an ornery, mean, and grumpy guy, shifter. At first she thought it would be the same with him until he finally realized what he was doing. He knew who he'd found his mate. All changed from there. Until she felt as if her life was going back to what it was. But that was not the case. Santa would talk to her and let her know that he really loved her. Great ending to a sweet story.
I love this wonderful Christmas story. It has everything love, magic, shifters, and Santa Clause. She has been mistreated for years and suddenly Santa gives her the best Christmas gift ever even if he has been suffering himself for ten years due to a mistake he made and now is afraid of love. But Santa knows best what these two people need if they can both admit it and take their HEA.
Enjoyable enough read and I liked the Christmas tone. Thought Chloe was weak for allowing herself to be treated like that for 5 years but at least she had the guts to finally walk away. Quinn was just plain rude to her at the beginning and I am pretty sure Chloe should have kept the cabin door closed.
I enjoyed reading this story. It started off a bit slow and not very pleasant, but, when she made the decision to do better, things changed all the way around. The storyline perked up, and became a story of finding oneself and accidentally finding everything she ever wanted, and more. Loved the happy happy ending!!
Quinn Miller a Polar Bear Shifter and Enforced of the North Pole, had been ordered to take a vacation and find his Fated Mate! Chloe Winter's had came to Vermont , Christmas Town for the Christmas holiday alone! Quinn and Chloe are Fated mates! Merry Christmas Forever!
This quick story is a delightful tale of Christmas magic. Polar bears would, of course, be the perfect bodyguards for Santa and being shifters makes it more feasible. Every bear needs his mate which are a bit scarce at the North pole. Hope everyone finds this story entertaining!
Light hearted and fun, but this story also teaches a lesson in how we should treat others. There is a love out in the world for everyone. Live the golden rule and enjoy the search.
I had forgotten how much I enjoy reading Ruby Shae's stories
This story is equal amounts sweet and Heat! It is short enough to read while waiting for an appointment or waiting for sleep. Maybe not the latter, because it will keep you awake! This book is GREAT!
So this is a cute, short little book. I liked the storyline, who knew Santa could be so determined to see his people happy. If you like short happily ever after Christmas stories(like me) then this is the book for you.
The characters were great and I was really enjoying it though it was odd, but the further into the story it got, the more far fetched and not my taste it became.
This is a short story of love with holiday spirit. A sexy polar bear shifter Quinn finds his human mate Chloe, now he has to help her believe his story. Wonderful characters!
Loved this little tale full of the magic of Christmas. Just the kind of story to go with a cup of hot tea or hot cocoa and cookies. Can’t wait to read more in the series!
I thought the premise was really cute, but the execution totally missed the mark for me. The writing isn't great, and a lot of the scenes felt rushed and underdeveloped. I know you can't expect much in less than 80 pages, but this seemed too edited down for even a quick read as this.
