Two people. A relationship with no commitment. What could go wrong?
Javier Cruz definitely isn’t relationship material, but that suits Hazel Gellar just fine. She’s not a girlfriend girl and doesn’t plan on ever being one.
But after a mind-blowing, bed-breaking night, she knows once isn’t going to be enough. Fortunately, Javi feels the same way. And it's not just the sex. Javi is funny and complicated and Hazel loves being around him, even when he drives her nuts.

When I started For Now I knew I was going into it without having read the first book in the series. It focuses on a different couple but we get introduced to both Javi and Hazel. While you don’t have to read the first book to enjoy or even understand these characters, it would be a good idea for you to do that. Javi and Hazel’s frenemy relationship started in the first book so I missed seeing them meet.

Hazel Gellar has too much going on in her life to ever think about starting a relationship with someone that goes past one night. She is planning on law school and when she is not in school she is working in a bar to pay for school. She doesn’t have any family support so she is doing this all on her own. I liked Hazel. She was really focused on her schooling but she also knew when to have fun and release some stress. She never let Javi get away without having the awkward what does this mean convo that a lot of lead women seem to be content to let the men walk away from. Hazel didn’t really let Javi get away with any of the usual BS and drama a lot of other characters are content to let happen. When Javi was being moody and grumpy she told him to talk about it or leave, she wouldn’t let him ask questions he wasn’t willing to also answer, she talked about her feelings the minute they started to change from for now to more.

Javi Cruz has never and will never be boyfriend material until he meets Hazel. His family situation isn’t any better than hers since he comes from a family of criminals. Now he has realized what he wants and he is willing to do anything to get it. Javi’s character was laughable in the beginning. The first couple times we meet him he is hitting on Hazel with blatant innuendos and pick up lines. Once we got to know him we learned there was so much more there than a playboy. He is can cook, he is really smart, takes a million classes, and it super charming. (Oh and he is so good in bed he breaks your bed). Once Javi gets that Hazel will not let him get away with anything he was pretty open with his past and even his feelings. While he wanted to move fast you can see the way he looks at their relationship and it makes sense.

There are very few books that I have read that show a couple work through things with very little drama. Javi and Hazel worked through their insecurities and reservations together as a couple. Their relationship was genuine, real, and honest to me.

I also love that the author gave us an ending for the couple in the first book as well. We got to see them after the HEA and see them work through problems of their own even though the book wasn’t focused on them. The story was well written and I personally loved that it was set in Maine. I noticed a couple of them where and that makes me happy. Being from Maine myself there are not a lot of books, that I can say I have read, that have been based there. I really liked reading this story and I would love to read the first one. If you are in the mood for a contemporary without a lot of drama, has amazing characters, and a story filled with romance and humor this book is definitely for you.

A sweet New Adult romance, For Now was a nice read.

Hazel and Javier were both good characters. Hazel was feisty and definitely knew what she wanted. Javier was sweeter than he let on and rather adorable. I liked them both.

The romance was okay, but I wasn't really feeling it. It just went to fast without enough depth of emotion, unlike book 1. But, I still thought Hazel and Javier were well matched and they definitely had some hot chemistry.

The plot was well paced and kept me interested. I enjoyed the story and the ending was sweet.

For Now was a good New Adult romance. Not the most memorable, but still an enjoyable read. Romance lovers, this might be a book worth looking up.

1 1/2 stars.
Did not like the end at all. Kind of knew that it'll be syrupy and sickeningly sweet, gone for it consciously, just to relax without thinking, but still, it was overboard. "Out of date countertops"? Really? This coming from a girl who grew up in trailers and now is renting a crappy place? Please...

This will be a short review!
It was a nice, sweet-light and romantic story.
It turned out to be anything like it thought it would be. Like really different from what I was expecting. Not in a bad way tho! I really liked how it turned. It was a bit crazy and unconventional and that's what I liked the most, I mean I haven't read a book like it before. You know when you read a story but you kinda like know what's going to happen even is a little different of what you thought but the essence of it is the same???? Well this time she really surprised me with it. I'm the type of reader that really gets into it, I feel everything they feel. When they hurt I hurt, when they cry I cry, when they laugh I laugh as well, and sometimes is a bit overwhelming and exhausting and I need to take a break from I intense books. So this was the perfect break. I kept waiting for the time where the broke up ( It always happens in this books) but that time never came, and I loved that!!!!!! He is amazing. I loved the way he first told her I love you.

“And I love being around you. I love sleeping with you, and by sleeping I don’t mean sex. I love waking up in the middle of the night with you in my arms. I love cooking for you and making you mad and hanging out with you at work.” I love all of those things too.
“So what I’m basically saying,” he says, kissing my still-damp shoulder, “is that I love you.”

It's was sort of perfect, it was them. And every time he declared his feelings for her, he robed a little piece of my heart! ❣❣❣❣❣

I loved the first book of this series, For Real, and I was excited to get to read Hazel and Javier's story in For Now since I really liked both of their characters in the first story.

First off, you're going to laugh. Both Hazel and Javi are full of spunk and play off each other well, listening to the two of them go at each other (verbally people...don't let your minds go the other way quite yet!) is pretty funny and makes for a good read. They are both very strong-willed and both have their own family issues. And you do get to see a softer, sweeter side to Javi as well, which I really liked.

I was surprised though that I really didn't feel a strong emotional bond between them like I did for Jett and Shannon in the first book. But Jett and Shannon are the sweet couple (which by the way, it was FANTASTIC to be able to read more about them in this book!)...Hazel and Javi, they're the tough couple-they seem to be more of a physical pairing than an emotional one. And for that, they sure do match up perfectly.

And the scene with the bed. Yeah, that fits them perfectly too ;-)

This is a fun, quick read and a great companion story to For Real. A solid 4-stars!

I love Chelsea M. Cameron’s books. I do. But to me, For Now, isn’t her best work. I love the story idea but for some reason, it just didn’t work for me.

For Now is the story of Javier and Hazel. We met them in the first book in the series, For Real. In For Real, we knew they were both were not into relationships. They slept around. They would flirt, but nothing would come of it. But in For Now, they decided to go for it. Have fun. Rock each others world. But then it all changes. Feelings become involved and those feelings go deep.

As I said earlier, this book, to me isn’t Chelsea’s best. I can’t quite put my finger on why. I think part of it is because it was too easy. Too quick. Two people who weren’t relationship people immediately fall in love. And they don’t deny it to each other. Its kind of like, ok, the sex is awesome, we are in love, and we are going to declare it to the world. Way to easily wrapped up into a box with a pretty bow on it. It just didn’t work.

Nachdem mir "For real" so gut gefallen hat, habe ich mir direkt "For now" vorgenommen.

Relationships are hard, and when you make the choice to simple have fun and not think of finding Prince Charming is when he makes his big debut... Ok, so Javi may not have been the Prince Charming Hazel was looking for, but boy did he rock her world and vice versa! For Real and For Now are two books I can relate too... I too was looking for fun and found forever, but by no means does that mean it was easy or happy all the time! So For Now gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me! Bravo Chelsea!

I do love a good Chelsea Cameron book and this one fits the bill! This book felt like a different kind of New Adult to me, a more subtle spin on the genre. It was full of such over the top sweet moments that made me roll my eyes and grin like a fool (in the absolute best way possible). It was simple yet complicated love story between two well written characters. Javi and Hazel’s story is so different from Shannon and Jett’s story in FOR REAL, the first book in the Rules of Love series. They all come from similar crappy backgrounds and childhoods but their experiences shaped them in completely different ways. Javier is the suave sexy player who is mysterious and alluring to everyone he meets. His charm and flirtations, as well as his skills in the bedroom, are well renowned. Hazel is a focused woman who intends to make the most of herself as a lawyer. She is determined to rise above her families history and become a success. She is feisty and looking for a connection but nothing to serious. Hazel attempts to be immune to Javier’s charming charisma through sarcasm and much needed boundaries, boundaries that Javier pushes against at every opportunity. One night while they are studying alone in Hazel and Shannon’s apartment, things get little heated and perspectives start to change. Neither one of them wants the pressure of a declared relationship so they enter into an arrangement of sorts. They enjoy being together but the constraints of labeling their new relationship is a source of hesitation. So for now, they decided to leave the future exactly where is it, in the future, and live in the moment, embracing their changing arrangement yet not defining it as anything more or less than what they can handle.
We are introduced to Javier and Hazel in the first book of the series and both have distinctly headstrong personalities. Javier is the epitome of mysterious sexy player and Hazel is the headstrong, pushy best friend. When we meet them again in FOR NOW, we get to dive into who they are as opposed to how they are perceived as a secondary character. Javier was one of the more intriguing secondary characters from the first book, in my opinion, and when his story began to unfold I was hooked. His family drama and history is not one to be trifled with. He is still that sweet talking man but everything goes deeper. And man, I would give anything to have a home cooked meal by Javier. When he started to cook every evening for himself and Hazel, I just swooned a little more each time.
As with Javier, Hazel is so much more than I thought. In the first book, I was always annoyed with her pestering and interference in Shannon’s life. I know it came from a good place but nonetheless, she drove me crazy. The more I learned about her in this book, the more I started to understand. Hazel is a driven woman with no time for the drama and commitment of a relationship yet she is so lonely. When things heat up with Javier, we see an understandable hesitation, one that continually nags her throughout the book. Her family is broken and has treated her terribly ever since she made the decision to do more with her life. The people who are supposed to love you unconditionally continually abandon and belittle her, in turn making love something she is hesitant about. Yet she finds a sense of belonging and a cure to the loneliness through Javier.
This book has a little bit of conflict but it is centered in Javier and Hazel’s minds. They go through tiffs like any new couple but they both have to struggle to overcome their past history and misconceptions of what a healthy functioning relationship looks like. When they begin to fall in love it overly sappy and romantic, something that is so different and so beautiful for these two. Watching then both grow individually and as a couple was wonderful to watch. The whole story you seem to wait for the other shoe to drop but it never came in a way that I expected. It was a story of healing, love, and a hope for something more. The sweet moments were like indulging in too much candy and the sexy moments were like wild spread fire! It was perfect! Their chemistry was insane and their relationship was fabulous! Mark this one as another Chelsea Cameron book to read!

My first reaction when I finished this: I sighed.
I sighed about a gazillion times.
Mind you, not an exasperated kinda sigh, no no. I sighed with gooey contentment.
If there ever was a pink and fuzzy sigh to be heard from me, this would have been the moment. BUT let's no get ahead of ourselves. There will never be anything pink and fuzzy about me, not even contented sighs.
This is so darn cute and fluffy, I just couldn't help myself. It really is a cute & fluffy fix per excellence.
Hence totally cute & fluffy contentment was my state when I finished it. Well and then, I kinda wished this was more.

Look this is really well written. Let's face is I love Cameron's prose. I honestly think she is a gifted writer. Hence I keep reading her books. For Now has just cemented my opinion on this.

The story lines is cute. It's kinda different than most of the new adult stuff out there. It definitely does speak to someone like me, meaning the commitment-phobe in me.
SO I mostly enjoyed it. Except the end was,uhm too much too sweet too convenient too sudden. But I wouldn't mind that actually. In fact I really didn't until a day later.
Because this is really a character driven novel.

You know I lurve those. Really this is all about Hazel and Javier. In fact they are nearly the only people that feature in this, except Shannon and Jett from the first book in the series, there are very few other people mentioned in here.
Again, this isn't something I noticed while reading. Because I was all wrapped up in Hazel and Javier. I really got them, I got their relationship dynamic and I really rooted for them.
But even so, I missed something here as well. I didn't get enough about their past, I didn't get enough about them. If I should describe you how Javier looks as example... Well he is hot, tall, got nice arms, tattoos... I actually know nothing about his facial features except that he has a nice jaw. That's it. And I really wanted to know!
Sadly this kinda a reoccurring thing.
I gotta admit that I actually haven't read the first instalment of the series. So I was wondering if maybe, what I have been missing in this one, I could find in the first one. Then again, this should work as a standalone after the blurb... sooo well, I guess I will let you know what the story is after I read For Real. Because I am definitely going to read it. In fact, if you haven't read it either.. let's do a buddy read. (Seriously! Contact me!) This is a must read for lovers of the genre after all!

While I love what is here, I felt I wanted more. In fact I felt like Cameron should have given me more. I think Cameron should have dug deeper and gotten me more that just cute & fluffy, I actually think she could have made this freakn brilliant.
I know that sounds kinda negative- but when I thought about it, I honestly believe that Cameron has the ability, the insight and the imagination to become one of the top writers in this genre. And with that come great expectations. I am also sure that with time she will fulfil them.

So despite my (small) misgivings this is a must read for lovers of the genre. And I will as always look forward to reading more of Ms. Cameron.

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Sexy Javier Stars ☆☆☆☆☆

For Now is a simple and sexy love story about two people falling in love when they least expected.

Hazel and Javier are two college students who are friends with Shannon and Jett from the first book For Real. Hazel and Javier became automatic friends being best friends with Shannon and Jett, which of course always puts them in the same place together. Which also gives them a lot of time for playful banters, that they both enjoyed. Since Shannon always stayed with Jett, Javier started to come over to keep Hazel company. And Since Hazel didn’t know how to cook, he wanted to make sure she was fed. So Javier came over almost every night to cook for her, since he was an awesome cook.

 photo ForNow-Teaser1.jpg

After a while, they got used to each other’s company. They started enjoying being around each other, even when studying or watching Gilmore Girls. They knew each other so well, it was just so easy to fall into a routine. At first it was all fun and games, where Javeir usually gets on Hazel nerves….but after a while it became so much more. That one night they decided to cross the line and did a lot of kissing. Kissing they both enjoyed, that made them want more. The next day after a night of kissing Javier started acting weird, so he stayed away from her. That didn’t last long, because both Javier and Hazel could stay away from each other. Apologies happen and everything was oh ok.

After a while the night they both have waited for happened, their first time…it was nothing but sweet and beautiful. At the same time it was fun and rough, they broke the bed after all (lol). Since both of them don’t want a relationship, they kept their relationship a together-esh. They thought if they really started a relationship, it would complicate everything. They thought staying friends with benefits was the best thing to be, no matter how much they enjoyed each other’s company and being together, they tried to keep their real feelings separated.

 photo ForNow-Teaser2.jpg

Can they continue on with this non-relationship when real feelings start to get in the way?
Will they lose the chance of real love, with both of them scared of a real relationship or the pain it can bring them?
Or will they finally accept how much they care for each other and give a real relationship a try?
Read and find out.

I enjoyed reading this story, it was very simple and sweet and I just love Javier. He is a real book boyfriend anyone would enjoy. He is sexy, handsome, sweet, he can cook, his funny, he sounds sexy when he speaks French and great in bed (According to Hazel..hehe).

Review to come on the 6th.. 8th--- for my tour stop..
____________________________________________
Originally during blog tour:

I got what I wanted from this book when I signed up for it. This is the companion novel to Chelsea Cameron's For Real in her Rules of Love series and I am glad this can be read as a standalone.

I was hoping for this instalment to be fun and make me chuckle or right out laugh my bum off. It didn't make me laugh my bum off but it had its fun, chuckle worthy moments. It reminded me at many a times of JLA's Wait For You, I hope I am not reminded of the wrong book but I really was reminded of JLA's characters and setting earlier in the book what with Javi being a good cook and all that.

At first, I was weary of the banter between the two as it made me roll my eyes as we have already seen this but then eventually I started liking it. Some parts were really enjoyable. After Javi and Hazel spent that night together. (And guys, it was a good night. It really wasn't what you are thinking it was. You should read to find out what kind of night it was. :D)

After that night, I was kind of irritated with Hazel. I was like: oh girl, just go with the flow. But I understand her point of view as well as it was confusing. Anyway, I found Hazel, at times, very entertaining. And at times, I found her annoying. Tehehe. As for Javi, hmmm, he was broody and shown as quite the smexy badass not-nerd-but-nerd kinda guy. Lol. But I did kinda feel he was a mash of all those beloved stereotypes out there. So, I think one or the other people will fall for this character. :p

Also, Javi's shutting-out people habit would get a bit annoying and a little too much. And I don't think I found his backstory that truthful and real. It just felt like the author wanted to make him look more I dunno-- something felt off. It was unexpected but I don't think it was good unexpected for me.

As for name choices, I don't think I liked them. Hazel's name kept reminding me of TFiOS. Lol. Whereas Javier's (Javi) name choosing felt wanting that desired hot guy vibe to be on the get-go if you know what I mean. XP Lol, sorry. I am weird. Anyway, I liked Hazel more.

Anyway, I liked this book and enjoyed those chuckle-worthy and some sweet moments.

Sigh. This book. This series. The whole thing makes me do a big dreamy contented sigh. Chelsea M Cameron really brought it home with For Now, which focuses on the roommates, Hazel and Javier, of the couple from For Real, Shannon and Jett. If you like new adult, romance, and just being happy, this is for you. It's not filled with all of the gut-wrenching angst that we normally see in new adult, but they are college age students. I don't know, I just loved it.

So Hazel is our heroine. She's a law student and a bartender. She's not really the relationship type of girl, and can even be a bit wild at times. Childhood was tough with a family that she never really connected to. Then she found Shannon, and Shannon was her family. Then Shannon became a couple with Jett, and Jett's roommate Javier was suddenly a person in her life. I really like Hazel. She's strong and independent, but not so much so that she doesn't realize that she needs people. Hazel is smart and caring, and when the time comes to open up, she does. I like that. I didn't have to yell at my kindle to get her to do what I wanted.

As for Javier, he is a man full of mystery and surprises. In For Real we think he is kind of this player type of guy, but in For Now, we realize that only scratched the surface. Javi was only showing us what he had to, and he lets it all out in this book. As it turns out, this man is sweet and caring and thoughtful, and when you add that onto his built like a brickhouse and tattooed and sexy traits, well, he's a package full of awesome. There was no point in this book where I thought "oh no, I'm over him, " or "heck no, Javi can just go now". He's a good guy. He looks out for his friends, and he took a huge leap for love. So yeah, right now he's kind of my hero.

Now in the previous book the characters were both virgins, and so the sex was a little bit of a slow start. But in For Now, both Hazel and Javi have a bit of a wild streak, so when they get together it is hot. I mean, they aren't like BDSM people, but the sensuality and tension is perfect. The connection is there, and it all feels real and perfect, just like they do.

I loved their story! At first they get on each others nerves, and purposely pick on each other, and then it hits them, the love bug bites them and you are even more happy for them. I can't tell you how much I think they are just terrific together. And then when you add in Shannon and Jett, well, yeah, I'm a bit jealous. So if you are looking for new adult that isn't so crazy, that definitely has a "go with the flow" feel, check out these two books. They are terrific (but definitely read them in order!)

"And I love being around you. I love sleeping with you, and by sleeping I don't mean sex. I love waking up in the middle of the night with you in my arms. I love cooking for you and making you mad and hanging out with you at work. So what I'm basically saying," he says, kissing my still-damp should. "is that I love you." ~ Javier Cruz

It should come as no surprise that I am absolutely in love with Javier Cruz from Chelsea M. Cameron's latest creation For Now. What's not to love? He's beautiful, dark hair and eyes that are brown with flecks of gold in them. A body made for sin that is covered in sexy black ink. A brain that rivals his hot body and did I mention he cooks? The man is clearly perfection.

So why is it that Hazel Gellar doesn't want anything to do with Javi? If anything, she finds him to be annoying. She also knows if they tried to get together it would be a disaster. Even though she finds him incredibly attractive and is forever getting caught staring at his hotness, she won't even entertain the thought.

Until...Javi starts coming around more often. Which is easy because his best friend Jett is dating Hazel's best friend Shannon. So even though it's normal for Javi to come around, it's not normal for him to come over with groceries and cook dinner every night. It's also not normal for him to stay over and study after Jett and Shannon have left for the night.

Did I mention the kissing part? The hot, sexy, unbelievable kissing? Because that's unusual too. Then there's the part where Javi gets weird. Then there's the part after that where Javi and Hazel have amazing, sweaty, animal, break the bed sex. Oh yes, it's that good.

Javi and Hazel are convinced they could never have a relationship. They're both afraid they would screw something up and even their friendship would be ruined. They both seem to believe love just isn't in the cards for them.

Hazel starts to worry because she starts having feelings for Javi that she never thought she'd have about anyone. Javi got some secrets that may threaten the fragile relationship he has with Hazel.

Do these two have what it takes to go the distance? Well, you know what I'm going to say...you have to read For Now to find out.

I must say, For Now is a delightful read. Javi is gorgeous to read about, and something I really like about him and Hazel is, they were friends before they became romantic. Hell they spent a lot of time telling everyone they weren't boyfriend and girlfriend, until they were.

Oh and one more thing...see the butterfly on the cover? Look for the reference in the story. It's really kind of cool. Anyway, Chelsea M. Cameron's For Now gets a four lip smack review from me. It's sweet and Javier Cruz is damn sexy!!

How long can you resist the temptation between two people who is undeniably hot for each other? No strings attached is what will be the death of them both, well, not literally. This was a page turner from the beginning to the very end. It's the temptation that was uncontrollable that pulled me in and just wanted to get to the bottom of it all.

Hazel is one independent woman who is afraid of commitment. She is in law school and doesn't have time for distraction. She is a bartender by night and has sleeping problems. Well, it changes when Javier offers to make her bed all warm and cozy, so sleep would come. But sleep was not really on the agenda, was it?

 photo fornow-1_zpsd33b35c8.jpg

As for Javier, he's had a bad childhood and wants nothing to do with his family. But somehow the money that was put away for him is just a painful reminder of how awful his family history was. His grandma Mimi was the one who raised him and the only one he had in his life. But since she passed, he's fulfilling Mimi's dream for him to go to college and be successful in life. He pursues her dream and wants no distraction, meaning no girlfriends ever, since he needs to focus on school. Somehow that changes when he can no longer control the attraction or maybe an obsession, who knows...it'll be a bumpy ride but Hazel and Javier will try this thing called relationship.

Don't let the past define you or it will end up destroying you in the end. Between two people who were so afraid of commitment, who ends up falling for each other. But the gnawing feeling that something bad is going to happen because everything seems too perfect. Will they both end up going their separate way because this is a unchartered territory for both? Or will they both break down the walls they put up when it comes to being committed to one person exclusively?

I highly recommend this book. It was one hot as hell of a ride. Loved the heartfelt love story and it ended how I wanted and then some. Beautiful job Chelsea Cameron. Thank you and I am looking forward to reading more of your writing.

I have a confession to make. I’ve been a huge Chelsea fan for a while now especially her Deeper We Fall book, it’s essentially what started my love for it all so I was really happy to get a chance to read and review For Now.
I did read For Real when it came out and although I did like it I wasn’t mesmerised by the quality of writing in it that I would normally come to expect from Chelsea. For Now is sort of in the same category. It was a delightful little superficial read to while away the afternoon with but there was little to no substance or depth to the story, severely lacking any drama or event to rock the equilibrium, generally I like some sort of misunderstanding to shake the foundations and for the hero/heroine to have to make some big grand gesture of undying love and devotion to win them back. For Now was pretty straight forward but in saying that Chelsea has a unique and beautiful way of writing her characters so that although there may be little disruption surrounding their lives you’re still drawn in to what happens to them, how they operate, how their love story unfurls and what traits make them who they are.
I loved Javier, he was stoic one minute and an incorrigible flirt the next, witty and full of fun then his mood would swing back to dark and solemn but when he was with Hazel our spit-fire, balls-to-the-wall, independent heroine his intelligence shines through just as when Hazel is with him her soft-heartedness and vulnerability exudes off the page.
Chelsea is good at constructing multi-dimensional characters, they have layers to their layers, and so what you see isn’t all you get at least not until you get to those words ‘The End’. For Now was very similar to For Real in terms of storyline, it revolves around a couple who are in a relationship but don’t define it as a relationship or acknowledge that feelings are in play and I guess that’s what makes the story so fun to read, it’s watching the sarcastic witty banter from the players as they unmask and confront their emotions before finding the courage to admit it to each other how deep they actually go. If you’re looking for a fun fresh and light-hearted book with a Hallmark Happily Ever After to curl up on the sofa with (and a pint of Ben and Jerry’s) then this is the perfect read for you and you won’t be disappointed. Some great snappy dialogue and sweet romance broken up by hot bed-breaking scenes make this a four star read for me.

Okay. Stop everything. Well, not everything. Continue reading…

Javier...

I kinda had this vision of Javier from reading For Real (Rules of Love, #1). I saw him as this big, beefy, cocky asshole. He was more concerned about getting his jollies off than who was helping achieve said jollying. He was the quintessential bad boy… Until For Now. In For Now, Javier has grown a much larger heart and conscience. When did this happen? I guess it started to expand at the end of For Real… I just didn’t think it had grown that much.

Javier has a thing for Hazel, and Hazel has a firm distaste for relationships. She doesn’t do them. Then again, neither did Javier…until he made like the Grinch and his heart quadrupled in size. Most of the story involves Javier chasing Hazel around. Well, maybe there wasn’t so much chasing… It was more like apartments/bed crashing (both literally and figuratively.) It was sweet and made Javier exponentially more likable.

“You like to make yourself at home, don’t you?” I say, dumping the dustpan in the trash and then putting the broom away.
“Your place is nicer than mine. And my place doesn’t have you in it. So.”

As you have probably already guess, Javier and Hazel start getting hot and heavy. This scares Hazel to some extent, because, as I stated earlier, she doesn’t do relationship. Ever. That brings about a little tension between the two. But, for the most part, this book is pretty light on the angst.

My main complaint has to do with the editing, in relation to dialog. I found it hard to follow at times. By the time you read this novel, it may have all been resolved. I just had a little trouble following along because of it.

Javier has a few secrets we’re made privy to that explain a great deal about his demeanor. It’s a lot for Hazel to swallow. It would be a lot for ANYONE to swallow.

Overall, For Now was a sweet, quick read. It didn’t knock my socks off, but I also didn’t come away feeling like I wasted my time by reading it. It’s cute. Plain and simple. I wouldn’t recommend reading this one without first reading For Real. It gives a little more back story into Javier and Hazel which can be beneficial to the reader.

For Now.

For Now is a companion novel to Chelsea M Canerons first book For Real (Rules of Love) series.
I have read most of Chelsea M Cameron's books and I read the first book in this series.
This series is very light hearted, easy, quick and romantic reads. You can read this very quick on a rainy afternoon and be quite happy as its not a dark serious book, heart wrenching book.
The whole story is very cute about 2 college kids who have a love/hate relationship. Off course everybody knows that when 2 people have a love/hate relationship that it means they have some serious sexual tension and that they actually really like each other.
I liked Hazel and Javi and the more you read the book the more you get to know them and the situation. Hazel started off slightly annoying at times. She was feisty and always knew what she wanted. She confused me in the way she acted towards Javi and it took me a while to get to like her. Javi was sweet, in a hot nerdy way. I liked him from the begin inning and that he was a sexy badass geek. I found both characters both very stubborn at times, so they clashed quite abit at the start....but that was just the sexual tension in my opinion.
I liked how the author did a really good job at developing the charactors and not just making them one dimensional. She did a great job at making this book more than a college story.i loved watching the characters breaking down the layers of each other and breaking through the armour of each other. I loved the chemistry between Hazel and Javi, it was electric. They were both strong characters, but together somehow they were stronger.
I liked the banter between the two characters and the book had some very funny, laugh out loud moments, which I enjoyed.
The book kept me interested, but it wasn't a very original plot. It's the sort of book that you pick up to read because you know what your going to get and its just a easy, nice read.
If you like a sweet, romantic, funny, easy read, then this book and the series is defintly for you. The plot is good and the book kept my attention. However I wanted more from the book.
It was all to sweet and lovey dovey for me. There was no real suprises or twists and turns to keep you engaged unfortunatly.
Chelsea M Caneron has write far better books, so if don't give up on her writing.

I fell in love with Jett and Shannon last year when I read For Real. I was excited to learn it was going to be a series of standalone novels featuring different characters from the first book. I was thrilled to get a chance to read For Real in advance of its release. It was a good read, but I didn't connect with it quite like I did For Real.

Where Jett and Shannon's relationship was based on feelings and first love, Javier and Hazel took a sexier route. Their best friends (Jett and Shannon, respectively) are a couple so they frequently find themselves together. They give into their urges and attraction to each other one night and their friendship starts to come with some added benefits. Javier and Hazel are both flirty and sexual people. I really did like them together, but I just couldn't find a level to personally relate to them on. What I did really appreciate is that, while their relationship started off as something just sexual, it grew into something deeper over the course of the book. Both Javier and Hazel opened up to each other and grew together.

For Now has the humor and heart I've come to expect from Chelsea's novels. It's a light and quick read with a bit of steam. I loved that Jett and Shannon were featured in this book, too. It was nice to catch up with them and see how life and love was treating them. I might have wanted a little more from this book, but ultimately, I liked what I did get. I wouldn't recommend reading this one unless you've read For Real first though. While theoretically each story can stand on its own, I think the first book was stronger and you might be a little lost in this one without knowing the backstory and the dynamic between the characters.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

We have already met Hazel and Javier in For Real as Shannon and Jett’s roommates and best friends. the chemistry between the pair is off the charts from the beginning. Being thrown together in social situations due to their friends things are obviously going to boil over with the two of them.

Told form Hazel’s point of view you gain insight into her reluctance to form any sort of relationship with Javi. His reputation does little to assuage Hazel’s doubts, plus I found his natural talent for innuendo did little to redeem his credibility. I would have loved to have seen some pivotal plot points from Javi’s point of view but alas it was not to be :(

Although I found the story a little slow to start and the ensuing relationship a little confusing I loved watching the characters personalities unfold. The deeper understanding of them and the barriers they had in place enabled a deeper connection to them. Both Hazel and Javi are complex characters whose layers were slowly peeled back throughout the narrative. There is so much more to them than first impressions would suggest, especially with Javi.

I really liked Chelsea’s portrayal of dysfunctional families within these stories. Although there may have been a lack of nurturing within their lives leading to emotional barriers they can be overcome with the help of tender, loving care. That family isn’t necessarily about the people you are related to by blood. As well as the way fate/destiny plays its part in the fact that everything happens for a reason.

It was fantastic to see the appearance of Jett and Shannon as well as the development of their relationship.

I have to say the best thing was the way in which the ending played out. I ADORED IT. With each passing sentence you could see the future unfold :)

4.5 Stars - Chelsea M. Cameron has once again written a sweet and steamy college romance that is sure to melt your heart! For Now is the companion novel to For Real. This book is all about Javier (Jett’s best friend) and Hazel (Shannon’s best friend) and I absolutely adored their story! We get a little more of Shannon and Jett, too, which was just icing on the cake. The more I got to know Hazel and Javi, the more I loved them. There was so much depth to these characters. Chelsea really did an excellent job exposing the experiences and dissecting the layers that made these characters who they are. Seeing them start to break each other down, crack through that armor, was incredibly beautiful. Chelsea also made the chemistry here absolutely electric! Both forces all on their own, together their sarcasm, wit and confidence clashed until we were left with the most delicious kind of tension brewing between Javi and Hazel.

There was a lot more substance and emotion to their story than I would have guessed and I’m so glad Chelsea decided we needed to know more about these two. Javi and Hazel are both so stubborn that at times I had to just hang on and ride out the rollercoaster, while other moments were so tender and perfect in their sweetness that I could swear my heart was floating. This story was one of heartache, passion, longing, hesitancy, lust, and love. For Now is a fantastic college romance full of genuine and relatable characters. This book hits all the right emotions and really tugged on my heart. I can’t get enough of this bunch and I hope we have more of them coming our way soon!

For Now is book #2 in the Rules of Love Series, it’s the first book I have read by this author and I was lucky enough to have been given an ARC in exchange for an honest review so here goes....

Hazel and Javi are incredibly sweet characters and this is a sweet story of them falling in love.

This book is a slow burn but once Javi and Hazel decide to be together they are literally the cutest couple.

To be honest I was waiting for the fall out and blow up that usually occurs with this type of book but it never happened.

I haven’t read the previous book in the series but I get the impression that Hazel is a bitch trying to be nice and Javi is a player trying to behave. Somehow they balance each other out and work well together as a couple.

I loved Hazel when she was snarky and I missed her attitude once her and Javi hit the ‘Babe’ stage.

I’m sorry to say that I think this book is just too nice!!! I know that’s such a stupid thing to say how can a romance be too nice. I think I’m getting cynical in my old age and I feel like even book couples need to go through some hardship before they get their happily ever after!!!

I really liked jett and Shannon but again they are the nicest couple in the world ever!!!

This book is the perfect book for a beach holiday it’s just a good old fashioned nice love, sorry but I just need a bit more grit so this gets 3.5 stars from me.

If you are looking for light hearted New Adult book, For Real by Chelsea M. Cameron is the ticket. For Real is the second book in the Rules of Love series. It can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.

For Real is the story of two ordinary college students. They are not mired with past angst and regrets. This is a story of a love / hate relationship. We meet Hazel and Javier. Their best friends are dating and they are thrown together all the time. Rather than make it an easy and light friendship, the two are always picking at each other. They live to to get under each other’s skin and enjoy annoying one another. Beneath the surface they are attracted to one another.

One night they finally give in to their attraction. It starts off with a kiss and leads to much more after weeks of fighting with one another. What was meant to be a hook up ends up in a full blown relationship. Hazel and Javier don’t know what hit them.

For Real was a light fun read. The characters were realistic and enjoyable. Their banter and dialogue was witty. The way they antagonized one another was entertaining. Their chemistry was sizzling hot and made it very clear that they were perfect for one another.

I would recommend For Real by Chelsea M. Cameron. It takes the heaviness out of the day and delivers a delightful moment in reading.

For Now was a very quick, light-hearted tale of friends-turned-lovers. It’s a fun will-they-or-won’t-they infused with Chelsea’s impeccable humor.

This book is the perfect cure for the Book Blues if you’re in need of a reprieve from the heavier reads. It tells the story of two average college kids who have a sort of love/hate friendship. They live to give each other a hard time and get under the other’s skin. Javier makes no effort to hide his overtly sexual attraction to Hazel, but she just assumes that he’s messing with her and she does her best to hide her overwhelming attraction to him.

I was little let down by this book to be honest, it was predictable and what happens is exactly what you would expect from your average NA novel. I enjoyed the first 75% the most as the end seemed rushed and the ending was almost too happy. You know, like that sickly sweet kind? It was just a little too perfect and convenient. I didn’t feel a great big connection with any of the characters but seeing as it’s a short and sweet lighthearted book, that’s not necessarily a strike against it.

Overall, this book was enjoyable and funny and great if you just need to escape for a short time. If you need a good old-fashioned love story or a pick-me-up, this book is it! Chelsea never fails at making me laugh.
