The book started good. Then it became predictable. The female lead was not smart. Her baby got kidnapped. There wasn't any mention of an Amber alert. Police didn't care. There was no FBI involvement. There was no press coverage. They just went and found the baby after a couple of days of investigation. The motivation for the kidnapping was weak. And please stop calling books a mafia romance if there isn't any mob action on the page.
I DNF’d at 43% the story was very ANNOYING . First the baby gets kidnapped and the mom is moving with zero urgency! She literally just went home and cried after the police blew her off. She didn’t even attempt to go look for the kid then she finally tells the mob boss who is the child’s father that he is a dad and the baby is kidnapped and he also moves zero urgency just questions one person then goes home and goes to sleep. The next day when they actually look for the kid, they stopped at a hotel and stayed the night because it starts to rain like what type of parents are they? I’m supposed to believe that HE run the west coast ?!
Both are the a-holes... the communication was prevalent, but the action of listening was lacking. It's a HEA, but they really shouldn't have ended up together in my eyes.
Niko was strong-willed and easily manipulated by his close circle. Niko also put his hands on Zara within the first night/day of meeting each other. Big no, no. Niko also proceeds to watch her for some time after their one night encounter and trash her house looking for something he presumes. She stole.
Zara, I understand her stance of not wanting to be around someone who could put their hands on you. She later finds out she's pregnant and then proceeds to not contact the dad (Niko) until their daughter is kidnapped. They put aside their differences for the sake of their daughter, and they actuslly come to common ground, but of course adults and sexual tension, things happen. But for Zara to play the back and forth, be sexual with him, and then pull back. It gave Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I understand the attraction, but she would verbalize things and be sweet, and once it was over, pull back and say that it couldn't happen again and that Niko didn't care for her. It seemed they needed to go to therapy to discuss their difference in opinions.
The team up for baby Nicole, coming together for the betterment of their child, awesome. And Zara allowing Niko to see his baby, that was a big step as well. But the later arguments were all created for no reason. It was the fact that Zara verbalized that certain things she was going to say would upset Niko and then proceeded to be mad at Niko for being mad.
The last back and forth was childish, the comment of, "he doesn't want us in his life," after stiring the pot and then trying to communicate. 🙄 Zara even took it a step further to delete Niko's number because he didn't contact her within 5 days. Yes, 5 days is a long time, but for the drama of the book, of course, that's when Niko figures things out.
Overall, entertained enough buy the characters annoyed me.

2.50 Stars. (BW/WM). Kindle Edition $2.99/201 page e-book. SETTING: Las Vegas, Nevada during the 21st Century. TROPE: Secret baby. One night stand. Russian mafia. CHARACTERS: 1. "Niko"/ Nikolai Sokolov, male lead, is an 'attractive' wealthy Russian Mob Boss, Don. 2. Zara Williams, female lead, works in the Marketing Department of Big Mack Gaming. 3. Aaliyah is an attorney and Zara's best friend since college. 4. Anatoly is Niko's closest friend, confidant and envious associate. 5. Nicole Summer is Zara and Niko's daughter 6. Julie was Zara's babysitter when Nicole was kidnapped and given to Julie's half sister.
This story is told from the perspective of Zara and Niko. The story is predictable with inconsistencies in the time line and a pair of meh protagonist. Zara becomes pregnant from her one night stand with Niko. She flees from him in fear because he choked her and ram shacked her apartment because he thought she stole a jump drive, the Black Book of his mobbing enterprises. She goes to his office when their daughter is kidnapped because she thinks he had taken her. This story is tiresome because the author spent a large portion of the book trying to set up a situation that justified Zara not telling Niko that he was a father; then the she spent even more time trying to redeem Niko from how she demonized him following the one night stand. Zara would ice Niko then have sex with him because he's so 'attractive' and repeat this over and over. During the last few chapters of the story, Niko and Zara announced that they were in love.
I’m disappointed again with this author’s male lead…
This is the second book by this author and I’m as disappointed by the leading man Niko just like I was with the other one, Atlas. Don’t get me wrong, the lady can write some hot as fire love scenes, but her leading men in the two books I have read about are so unlikable that I couldn’t finish the stories. Niko was so much more unlikable to that I couldn’t root for him or Zara to get together. His attitude towards Zara’s grief over the kidnapping of her baby was off-putting. He made jokes and laughed at her and he showed no sympathy for the kidnapped baby until he learned that the little girl was his daughter. I was able to read about 75% of the first book (the title escapes me) whose couple were Tyonna and Atlas, but I only made it to 54% of this one only because I wanted to see them get back Baby Nicole. I gave this one three stars (I couldn’t bring myself to give 2 and a half stars even with my frustration with the story) but I can’t really recommend this one by Ms. Cole unless it’s the sexual content you’re interested in and is ok with the less than likable Niko.
This is so freaking enjoyable. These characters are what I enjoy in mafia romance it walks the line between being dark. There's suspense and captivating passions. The relationship that Niko and Zara is a wild ride and it will keep you turning the pages. This story pulls you in from the beginning. All of the characters are fire they get under your skin in a good way. It's a story that will have you panting for more even before you get to the end. I enjoyed how the author allows you inside their heads which of course takes you right there. I enjoyed their baby Nicole she put a smile on my face plus the drama is amazing and suspenseful you won't be able too guess what's going to happen next with the secondary characters. They all take you on interesting twists that you will definitely enjoy. This is a must read by this author it will make you a fan. It has everything you will definitely enjoy . Their chemistry is sizzling hot and so enjoyable. Every moment of this couple's relationship makes it impossible to put down your reader until the story is at its end. What a wonderful experience!!!
My 1st book by this author, Tiana Cole and it was cute! It had some intrigue but straddled the line between white and super light grey as far as the story line went. There wasn’t a whole lot of mafia or stëam but the story took us in loops and bounds which really kept my attention. Our H was a bit of a wimp if you ask me but if I’d just dipped my toe into “mafia” romance I’d probably think he was decently tough. Didn’t do it for me but his love for his daughter did! Then we have our h who I actually did like. She had a gentle quiet strength with a forgiving heart. She wasn’t cast in the light of being walked on, but worth fighting for. All in all, a good read. I’m not sure at this time if I’ll read anything else by her but I’m defined not ruling it out!
This was great and the suspense was awesome. It was like I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t stop reading until I finished. It is way past my bedtime (😝 LOL) but so worth it. Niko is every woman’s dream man, ruff and no’s when he is wrong, it may take a minute but he does get it. Zara trying to protect her daughter like a mama bear, you never want to mess with. It was just so good, I do have a question will Alexis get a story soon, would love 💕 to read it.
I couldn’t finish it. This woman’s baby was stolen. How is she sleeping? How is she complaining that she had to get up and go to work the next day? This is after she figured he had nothing to do with it. I thought it started off well but I feel like it lost me after her baby, still in a crib was stolen.
There were so many issues in this story. I know it’s “fantasy” so theres a lot I’m willing to overlook but when the fmc’s broken arm mysteriously disappeared 2 days later, I gave up…this is my 2nd story by this author and there was a similar issue in the other book as well.
The story is good but a lot of it was predictable. I like that Zara is sweet but has a feisty side as well. Nikolai may be the head of a syndicate but he lands in unfamiliar territory when he falls head over heels for Zara. And his world is never the same. Trust and betrayal are prevelant throughout.
I enjoyed reading Niko and Zara's story. There were a few grammatical errors as well as a character having two different names, but all in all I enjoyed it. I am looming forward to reading this author's next publication!
It was a 3 star but then all of a sudden the ending knocked it down a star. It was lowkey annoying with the female and male lead, but had a realistic feel to it.
I kinda like how this story takes place. I mean it put you into the book as if your in a movie. Tiana Cole is an awesome writer . I will be looking forward to reading more books by her. Because she has a skills that takes your minded into each chapter. the only down fall to this book is you want more before the ending
