Never sleep with a hockey player—especially when you’re his boss.
All Penny Clark wants is one last night of fun before stepping into her new role as owner of her father’s pro hockey team. No names, no strings—just one perfect distraction. But her mystery man turns out to be none other than Jack “The Saint” West—her star player. Already battling the reputation of being “the crazy daughter,” Penny can’t afford another scandal. No one can know what happened between them. And there definitely can’t be a repeat performance.
Jack West has one hard no relationships during the season. Penny is the reason he should’ve stuck to it. She’s smart, stubborn, and challenges him like no one else ever has. Worse, she’s now his boss—and completely off-limits. But the more they try to keep things professional, the harder it becomes to ignore the chemistry that refuses to cool off. Getting involved could cost them everything... but staying away might cost them their chance at something real.
Sierra’s books get better and better. This book was incredible from start to finish. It was fun, funny, full of banter, a meet cute and hot scenes.
In the first two books, mainly in the first one though, we get to meet Jack ‘Saint’ West because of his connection to Dax. In book three we actually realise more about his personality and everything he’s done to keep himself together ever since he left as a teenager. He’s not such a Saint, both in the hockey field and … out of it … if you know what I mean.
I had conflicting thoughts about Penny before I started this book, but she won me over by the end of the first chapter. She has been through a lot in her life, as much as Jack, and I have loved how much they were there for each other, picking the other one up. The way she managed to break her habit of running when things got difficult and facing head on her parents for the way she perceived was treated by them was fantastic. I’m not lying when I say that everything she told her family, and them to her, moved me a lot. And I was really happy to see how things developed from there.
I want to thank Sierra Lewis for the ARC, all opinions are my own
Sierra Lewis never fails to deliver a book that is easy to read, quick to pull you in, and gives you spice galore. In her latest release, How to Puck Your Boss, she keeps this trend going. I had so much fun reading this book and watching our MCs go from boss and employee to so much more. The banter between our MCs is flirtatious and witty and makes the tension between Jack and Penelope begging to erupt.
When a one night stand, promising no strings, last names, and no next time gives Penelope the release she is looking for, she is ready to take over her father’s hockey team. I loved that the boss in this book is our FMC and the employee works for her. Talk about surprise and awkwardness when she comes face to face again with her one night stand, when he is introduced as her star player. It was supposed to be one night, but now Jack is everywhere she turns, making her feel things over and over again.
Jack didn’t mean to sleep with his boss, but he doesn’t regret it, even when he finds out exactly who she is. Mind always on hockey, no distractions, he is uncharted territory when he can’t get Penelope off his mind. As he opens up to her and she to him, they realize they are more than one night to each other. As walls come down, they find something neither one thought they ever would or even deserved on some levels.
Sierra is a fun author who I enjoy reading. Her stories are light hearted, easy to read, and filled with spicy goodness. A newer author, she knows how to make her voice heard and give readers books that are wonderful reads. This book is perfect for fans of sport romances, especially if hockey romances are your thing.
As always, review any author notes before reading.
What to Expect: 🏒Frenemies to Lovers 💜Hockey Romance 🏒Boss x Employee 💜Workplace Romance 🏒Forbidden Love 💜One Night Stand
I’ve really enjoyed this series, reading the first three books in three days. I’m really excited for book 4 which will be available shortly.
I just didn’t like this book as much as the previous 2.
I felt wishy-washy with Penny. She had some good qualities but for the first 50% or so of the book, she came across as a poor little rich girl. It was difficult for me to connect with her because her actions to do good felt a little performative and a way to assuage her guilt for coming from a wealthy family.
I did start to warm to her toward the end of the book. But the FMCs in Lewis’ first two books seemed more relatable and a little more grounded in reality.
I really liked Jack in the first couple of books and it was exciting to get to know him and his story. I was a little underwhelmed though with all the reveals after the teasing that came from the first two books.
It was great, though to see how his relationship with his siblings had progressed and I would have loved to see more of that.
The chemistry between Jack and Penny though was solid but I wished we got a few more moments of the building of their relationship.
All in all, Sierra Lewis has written a fun series that I have been devouring. These characters have been a delight to follow.

I love this book so much! this is really my kind of book, and easy going story with a lot of fun, hot intimate scenes, sassy comebacks and drama.
Sierra Lewis have done a exceptional work writing the personalities, describing the rooms and happenings so i could picture everything before me and really feel what they felt.
i absolutely love that Jack the Saint has a whole lot of secrets that are not so Saint like. and the chemistry between Jack and Penelope? I need a fan!
i give this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was so smooth to read and i didnt want to put it down. Every happening was logical and realistic and everything and everyone was described so amazingly good! the hot scenes were hot, the sad scenes were sad, and i felt it all in my heart.
i recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance with a lot of fun and steam. you dont have to be a hockey fan, you will still enjoy the love story of Jack and Penelope.
It never turns out bad when you suggest one night with no strings, no last names, and no talking about hockey, right?
How to Puck Your Boss is a fun read for your weekend. If you’ve been reading the series, you’ll finally get to read Jack’s whole story and meet the elusive Clark daughter, Penny. Their story is full of laughter, discovery, and learning to stand up for the whole truth of yourself.
Lewis continues to bring fun, engaging stories about characters who will quickly become some of your favorites. I have enjoyed reading this series and the character growth that continues. From Jack and Dax’s secret to Jack and Penelope realizing how they truly feel, each moment is packed with emotion. I love that Lewis’ characters are full of laughter, banter, and handle tough emotions in a way that will likely feel familiar to some readers.
If you’ve haven’t started this series yet, you need to jump in. You don’t want to miss out on the stories of the Los Angeles Hawks.
How To Puck Your Boss Is Jack West and Penny Clark’s story and its book three in the L.A. Hawkes Hockey Series. It’s an engaging and entertaining story that I quickly became invested in. Penny is looking for one last night of fun before taking over as owner of her father’s pro hockey team. It was meant to be a night with no strings and no names so imagine her surprise when her mysterious man turns out to be none other than her star player, Jack “The Saint” West. They should be off limits to each other but we can’t always control what our heart wants and it seems their hearts want each other. But before they can build a future they both need to deal with their baggage from their pasts ……… This was a fun, witty and captivating book. It’s well written with characters I fell hard and fast for.
Jack has one rule, no relationships or sleeping with anyone during the season. But when he meets a gorgeous woman at the airport that holds a good conversation and doesn’t want to exchange last names or talk about work, he breaks that rule for a spicy night together.
Penelope/Penny is used to being called crazy and the family disappointment, but it’s time to go back home and help take over the family business, the LA Hawks with her brother. But when she gets there, it’s not what she expects.
Jack and Penny soon find out who each other really are and that they will soon be working close together. Their chemistry is strong and on fire. Can they really deny it and stay away? The banter in this book is so good! There is family drama and some hidden secrets. Jack the Saint, maybe isn’t all that Saintly.
Penny has a one night stand with the hot guy she meets at the airport but is horrified to discover he’s a hockey player for the team her dad owns and she’s taking over. Jack doesn’t do relationships or sleep with women during the season- until he meets Penny and one night with her just isn’t enough for him. But how can they be together when she’s technically his boss? Neither of them can afford the scandal but it’s too hard to stay away from each other. Can they find a way to be together or do they need to calm it quits?
I really enjoyed this! I’ve been wanting Jack’s book since the start of the series so it was nice to fully get his side. I loved the dynamic between him and Penny and the drama of her taking over the team and them being together. Can’t wait to see what is next!!
So this series just keeps getting better and better. I loved the last two and this one was even better! I felt so bad for the FMC and how her parents (and even her brother sometimes) treated her. She deserves so much better and completely deserved a wonderful guy the MMC is. Mind you, while the MMC is nicknamed the saint, he has his own fair share of secrets and emotional baggage. It was lovely to read these two and how they started to bloom as characters as their relationship developed. This book, series and author are quiet achievers for 2025 and I would recommend you give this series a go.
Big thanks to @sierra.lewis.author for a copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
4 Star Review How To Puck Your Boss (L.A. Hawkes #3) by Sierra Lewis
This is Penny Clark and Jack West’s forbidden love story and one that drew me in from the first chapter.
It was well written with plenty of witty banter, romance, heat and a little angst.
These two are off limits to one The miscommunication between these two had me shaking my head and laughing at the same time.
Both have baggage and they have to come to terms with it. I enjoyed the development of their relationship and was happy that they got the happily ever after they both deserved.
Cutest summer read… forbidden love - after a one night stand finding out he slept with his new boss! They both enter a panic state. Promise to forget it ever happened. Only to actually really like each other and have a hard time committing to that promise, while trying to continue their new positions within the company.
Love the way their love story blossoms, and how they come together after facing all the challenges and secrets they hold. Beautiful story
I loved getting to read Jack and Penny’s story! Jack is a side character in the first two books and I’m so happy he has a happy story! Penny and Jack meet at an airport and have no idea who the other is. After a one night stay you find out that you slept with your boss! Will they figure out how to stay away from each other? Will Penny or her brother win their father’s game for the hockey team? You’ll have to read to find out! This one kept me on my toes. I highly recommend if you love sports romance! Can’t wait for the next🏒💕
