Love Bomb

Rate this book
When the love is toxic but the "D" is healing…
Lyric Warren wasn’t looking for love. She was just trying to keep her life from falling apart. Between a toxic home, a dead-end routine, and the boy who broke her heart, she was one bad day away from snapping.
Then Ty pulled up.
Older. Rich. Dangerous. Yet undeniably alluring.
The kind of man who whispers sweet things while his actions rearrange your whole life… and your guts.
He bought her silence. Showered her with luxuries. Made her believe she was the only one. But every gift was a shackle. Every kiss, a punishment. Now, Lyric is ensnared in a love that appears lavish… but feels like a battlefield.
Love Bomb is a filthy, emotional rollercoaster of obsession, betrayal, and the kind of passion that leaves marks. If you like your romance dark, dramatic, and deliciously toxic, then you’re in for a treat.
Welcome to the fallout.

DNF.

The FMC is 18 *still in high school* 18. Not “I graduated early” or “I’m turning 19 next month.” Full-on, homework-due-Tuesday 18. And yet somehow she’s tossed into a storyline overflowing with adult drama, spicy setups, and trauma bonding like she’s seasoned in life and love. Strike one lol.

The dialogue? Too grown. The plot? Scattered. The mother storyline had potential, but the execution didn’t give. I wanted to care but nothing pulled me in. And the tension with London? Nonexistent. There’s no clear reason why sis couldn’t just say, “Hey, I’m dealing with your brother.” Instead, we’re dropped into mess with some context but none justifiable enough for the whole blow up that occurred.

Blessing, the first love interest, could’ve been compelling… if we’d gotten more time to understand the connection. The buildup was shaky, and by the time we met Ty aka the older man linked to her dad’s foolishness I was already side-eying everything. Ty’s energy was weird, uncomfortable, and felt like he belonged in a whole different book. Sir, go home, and if you write it where the character is put off by them then you need to sell how they get finessed because as a reader it doesn’t make sense. If he gave her the creeps off rip HOW DID WE GET HEREEE?

And listen if you're gonna drop five POVs in the first few chapters, can I at least know who these people are? I don’t need a birth chart, but a vibe check would be nice. I felt like I crashed a family reunion and nobody told me who was who.

Also: if it’s the start of a series with a cliffhanger? Please put that in the blurb. Something. Anything.

Final thoughts: This wasn’t it For ME
Good premise, but the execution had me checking out early. I’m also curious to know why the age range was chosen like sorry bumping them up a couple of more years would’ve still captured the same essence.

Sometimes, staying in a child’s place really is a blessing—but what happens when life pushes you to grow up too fast? That’s exactly where Lyric found herself. With a mother who emotionally checked out when she was still just a little girl, Lyric was forced to navigate a world she was never prepared for. She faced situations far beyond her years—ones that might have turned out differently if she'd had proper guidance, if someone had shown her what real love looked like. Instead, she was left to piece together broken versions of affection, torn between what love should be and the illusion she was handed. And in the end, it left her love-bombed, confused, and craving something real. When it was right in front of her all along.

My My My, Mesha Mesh has done it again! Love Bomb had me up until the wee hours of the morning neglecting my sleep trying to see how this story would play out! Trust me, the title of this book is perfect - it showed the different sides of love, the good and bad, the naivety, complexities, and yearning to be loved - even by the wrong person.

Lyric was in literal hell, a walking poster child of someone in survival mode at all times. With an absent father and a mother who was present but not mentally present was a lot but Lyric was resilient and able for have some sense of normalcy in her life. She had a best friend in London and a protector in London’s older brother, Blessing - who was also forbidden fruit. Blessing was calm, calculated, and able to back up everything he was putting out. I absolutely adored him; yes, he could have put his foot down more but he was moving on Lyric’s time, until it was too late.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get more tense, here comes Ty - flashing money, showing attention, and whispering sweet nothings to Lyric. Ty was the devil - literally, Dr. Jerkyll and Mr. Hyde - a ticking time bomb, manipulative, and a narcissist. I really didn’t like Ty at all. At first I thought he was just trying to help but something about the way Blessing declared, “Men like that don’t always want something up front, but you better believe they’ll come to collect” - my antennas were up!! Ty preyed on Lyric; he knew all about her home life and how impressionable she was but Lyric couldn’t see it. I am the president of the Ty hater club and I wished nothing but the worst for him.

Overall, Love Bomb was a page turner and reminder that everything that glitters aint gold. I needed this unsafe level of stress while reading. And it just seemed like the hits kept coming. I kept thinking what is Ty going to do next because the man was crazy, and not the good kind. There’s no doubt in my mind that Blessing is going to be everything Lyric needs to heal from her traumas. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

This story was pretty good. Quite a few characters. I wish the author would have broken the characters up into their own chapters. You have to pay attention bc it is definitely a lot going on. It will have a part 2 but honestly it really doesn't need it.

This book was so good. I was so caught up lyric pissed me off so many times in this book she act sort of like her mother I would’ve been listening from the get-go lyric made some dumbest decisions but blessing never gave up on her. I loved it for them.

Love Bomb

Read all the trigger warnings before you start the book! Also, when the book begins Lyric is an impressionable 18 year old who never experienced the love of her parents so she is looking for it from someone else. She loves Blessing, but is too scared to be open about their relationship because she thinks she will face fallout in one of her friendships. So she pushes Blessing away and ends up with Ty. Ty is way older and has an ulterior motive. What first start of at 18 as another great love story turned into 8 years of toxic betrayal. The book is to be continued by I hope book two has better plans mapped out for Lyric because she deserves so much more than she has experienced in her life. Definitely a good read but again read the trigger warnings before. I did have to take a break while reading this book because this poor girl really went through so much. Def would recommend and will def read the next book.

This book definitely was a love bomb…. Ty love bombed during his whole existence in this story. I really felt so bad for Lyric but I think she redeems herself. I couldn’t get with her logic while she was in high school. That man (Blessing) loved the hell out of her and she just couldn’t get right. Ty was on some ultimate BS happy all but not all was revealed in the end. Let’s not forget snake in the grass ass Ebony!! She deserves everything coming to her. Overall great read it was losing me at the beginning but when that action picks up it doesn’t let up. All gas no brakes! 10/10 highly recommend

UNBELIEVABLE

This book was sad at times and great at others. Truly did not like the way Tamara, Ebony and Lyric was portrayed as weak women with no self love, respect and dignity acting like fools over men…giving there power away especially Lyricsho started out as strong willed despite her circumstances.
I was so disappointed when she treated Blessing so bad and claiming he was not there for her when Blessing and London was always there. After that I did not have any sympathy for her and she deserved all the bad mess Ty did.
London was my favorite character. a true friend and sister through it all. Finally the story ended abruptly…did not make sense to me.

Explosive, toxic love/lust connections

Lyric made the biggest mistake of leaving Blessing for toxic Ty 10 years her senior. The love her & Blessing shared was real. But lyric was too emotional destroyed from her parents to see that. Londyn was a real friend in spite of all Lyric did to disrupt their relationship Londyn remained solid. However Ty the abusive monster was just doing everyone which sadly caused his demise . Great read this book is very emotional and very good but I definitely need book 2

Enjoyed It!!

At first Lyric was pissing me off and I understand in the beginning they were still kids, but she was just moving like she had air for brains!! And poor Blessing he was older than her and should have been able to be patient with her, but Lyric’s loyalty to London should have pushed her to tell her the truth!! I can’t wait to see what Ebony gets into

Love Bomb by Mesha Mesh is intense, emotional, and hard to put down. The story dives deep into toxic love, vulnerability, and the way past wounds shape our choices. Lyric’s journey is raw and relatable, and the characters keep you turning pages late into the night. If you enjoy dark, emotionally charged romance that feels real and messy, this one is a must-read. 📚🔥

This was a wild ride. Lyric girl. Had a hard life and was struggling even more in adulthood. Damn. Left on a surprising note, but awaiting part 2 to gather my true feelings if I want a HEA or not.
