GAH! Why did it have to end on such a cliffhanger?!
Granted, since I’ve played the game, I know what happens next, but similar to previous volumes, I am thriving seeing the game come to life in these manga volumes!
This one was definitely no exception and took so many pictures of my favorite panels! Funny enough, Leona probably stole the show for me in how many I took of him alone, but I couldn’t get enough of his laugh and smile! (Even if it wasn’t for the happiest of reasons… 😆)
I did once again LOVE the twins!! Seeing how sinister they can be (and Azul too!) really was SO well drawn! You can really see the extreme contrast between these brothers, making things extra lively, including how they looked as morays! I definitely completely geeked out because the amount of details was insane! They looked so good and was so excited because Jade’s moray card from the game is one of my favorites, and I feel that image was in my head when reading. So, naturally, I was going to compare (even if it was subconsciously 🙈) and the artist NAILED his look! They even brought the “scary” factor with their eyes AND reminded me of the eels just like in the Disney movie! Hurrah artist!
Overall, I loved this volume so much! It truly is exciting to see this story on page and think Yu is right at home! (Goodness, his dishes made me hungry!)
I can’t wait to read the next volume and see how everything goes down!

March 11, 2026The Twisted Book of Wonderland 2 Manga: Book of Octavinelle Vol.2
Azul says he wants the right to “use Ramshackle Dorm” in exchange for the other (225 polyps) freedom. He’ll give them three days to steal a photograph from the Atlantica Memorial Museum in the Coral Sea. The photo is of Prince Rielle’s visit to the Museum 10 years ago. You sign the contract. If You and Jack succeed the others go free. If they fail Ramshackle Dorm is his and they join his servants. Azul’s henchman take Ramshackle Dorm as collateral and kick the others out. Since Yu is kicked out, Jack invites him to stay at Savanaclaw Dorm.
Chapter 7 gets off track of the story and starts talking about a Spell Drive tournament and Spell Drive events SavanaClaw throws each year. Personally, I think the main plot has enough interest and doesn’t need this, but then again, I’m indifferent to sports events and games. It gets back to the story (THANK GODNESS!) and Jack and Yu decide to take Ace and Deuce, they take the potion Azul gave them to breathe underwater and it works!
In a twist, Azul’s henchman turns o ut to be mermen. Morays to be exact. And they’re there to stop them from completing the challenge. Leona (whose a resident of Savanaclaw Dorm) suggest they instead try to tear the contracts up. But when they try to sneak in Azul’s office in the vault, they get a shock (literally and figuratively). The contracts give an electric jolt when touched. Azul reminds them they had a day and a half (until sunset). A mysterious student (that Yu calls “Horton”) tells him things aren’t always how they look.
The museum is closed so they have to distract the guard and sneak in. They’re able to get the picture with ease, but a guard spots them. 2 B C Unfortunately we don’t get to know the outcome because I think this is the last volume. Unless the story is continued in the other issues of different titles in his series.
Rating: 6 This was an interesting two volumes. It was easy to follow. There was a lot of throw backs to “The Little Mermaid”. IT was a good twist to make the twins mermen. And I liked that the contract was a big part of the story just like in the Little Mermaid. The illustrations were pen and ink so about typical of this medium. Clear enough until there were action scenes. I’m interested to see what happens next.

Dans ce deuxième tome, on replonge immédiatement dans l’ambiance si particulière du dortoir dirigé par Azul. C’est un univers que j’aime énormément, avec son esthétique inspirée des profondeurs marines et son atmosphère à la fois élégante et un peu inquiétante. Chaque maison dans Twisted Wonderland a vraiment sa propre identité, et Octavinelle ne fait pas exception : ici, tout tourne autour des contrats, des échanges… et des pièges bien ficelés. Dans ce tome, l’histoire prend une tournure plus tendue, et on sent que les enjeux deviennent plus sérieux pour Yû.
Ce tome met beaucoup en avant les thèmes de la manipulation, du pouvoir et du prix à payer pour ses choix. Azul est vraiment au centre de tout ça : c’est un personnage fascinant, très intelligent, mais aussi calculateur et prêt à tout pour arriver à ses fins. Il ne force jamais directement les gens, mais il sait parfaitement exploiter leurs faiblesses… et c’est ce qui le rend presque encore plus dangereux. Yû, de son côté, évolue doucement. On le voit essayer de trouver une solution juste pour libérer ceux qui ont été piégés par Azul. Il ne fonce pas tête baissée, il réfléchit, il négocie… mais il reste encore vulnérable face à quelqu’un d’aussi rusé. Ce que j’ai trouvé intéressant, c’est qu’il ne baisse pas les bras, même quand la situation semble complètement déséquilibrée.
La présence de Jack apporte aussi un contraste intéressant. Lui est beaucoup plus direct, presque brutal dans sa façon de voir les choses. Il pense que ceux qui ont triché méritent ce qui leur arrive, et ça crée une vraie opposition avec la vision plus empathique de Yû. Ça pose une question assez forte : est-ce qu’on doit toujours aider les autres, même quand ils ont fait des erreurs ? Et puis bien sûr, il y a toute la dynamique autour d’Azul et de son stratagème. On sent que tout est sous contrôle de son côté, qu’il anticipe chaque réaction. Le piège qu’il prépare pour Yû montre bien à quel point il est toujours en avance. C’est à la fois impressionnant… et un peu frustrant, parce qu’on a envie de voir quelqu’un lui tenir tête.
Ce second tome est vraiment prenant, avec une tension qui monte progressivement et des personnages qui gagnent en profondeur. L’univers d’Octavinelle continue de me captiver, notamment grâce à son ambiance unique et à ses règles du jeu impitoyables. C’est un monde où rien n’est gratuit, où chaque décision a un coût… et ça rend l’histoire encore plus immersive. J’ai particulièrement aimé voir les différentes visions s’opposer entre Yû, Jack et Azul, parce que ça donne du relief au récit et ça pousse à réfléchir. Et surtout, ça donne envie de lire la suite, pour voir si Yû va réussir à déjouer les plans d’Azul… ou s’il va tomber encore plus profondément dans son piège.

It is genuinely impressive how much of the plot of book 3 was packed into this volume. It feels slower paced as a result but I really love the time that Wakana Hazuki and Sumire Kowono took with it. Kowono's art really shines here with so much attention to detail regarding expression, nonverbal communication, and the moods and atmosphere of each scene.
It's also just nice to continue seeing Twisted Wonderland adapted into this form and really seeing the way the scenes are explored in a different medium. Much as I love the game and still prefer it, the manga still manages to breathe new life into the story. I really hope that if anyone reads my reviews, you continue to take this as a resounding encouragement to play the original mobile game for Twisted Wonderland, as well as giving the manga, the anime and the novels a chance. It's utterly brilliant.
It's also just nice to continue seeing Twisted Wonderland adapted into this form and really seeing the way the scenes are explored in a different medium. Much as I love the game and still prefer it, the manga still manages to breathe new life into the story. I really hope that if anyone reads my reviews, you continue to take this as a resounding encouragement to play the original mobile game for Twisted Wonderland, as well as giving the manga, the anime and the novels a chance. I like volumes like this that make Night Raven College feel like it's actually a school and not just one dorm causing problems over and over - though, saying that, no one ever seems to go to class, but I guess that's how these school-based stories go.
There's Heartslabyul stuff, Savanaclaw stuff, and the titular Octavinelle stuff going on too, and even an appearance from a familiar Diasomnia guy too; the Savanaclaw stuff does seem to spoil how that story ends (but I guess if you've played the game, that's less of an issue). I do enjoy how they thread the Disney stuff into this volume; even if it's only in some dreams, there's some nice parallels between what's going on here and what happened way back when in the Little Mermaid.

I was so glad I brought this to school! I finished work early and decided to pick this up and it was such a fast read because it’s so interesting! I loved every scene with the leech twins and more yuta! I was very happy with this and the cliffhanger is making me wanting more! I loved every scene this series!

This is my only interaction with the Twisted Wonderland franchise, so I have to ask- was I already supposed to have read the previous Books in this series? First volume felt pretty standalone but this on leans a lot onto events I swear I haven't seen before.

I like where the stories going and its so cool seeing the merworld? It's interesting how all the prefects seem to dance around each other and have beef with one another too.
