The Circle of Influence is a personal take on something many of us quietly go through—being shaped by people around us in ways we don’t always notice. This book isn’t filled with advice or instructions. It’s a reflection. A collection of thoughts and experiences from someone who’s been through complicated relationships, emotional exhaustion, and the pressure to always be the “good one.” If you’ve ever felt unseen, unheard, or stuck between who you are and who others expect you to be, this book might feel familiar. It talks about how our choices, peace, and identity are impacted by our social circles, including family, friends, and society. There's no sugarcoating or tough love here—just straightforward words that make room for yours. It’s not about fixing everything. The goal is to acknowledge it, sit with it, and gradually rediscover who you are. These pages are for you if that's what you're looking for.
They say we become a reflection of the people we spend the most time with, but what if recognizing that influence could change the way we live, decide, and grow? This book is a beautifully written guide that gently opens our eyes to this very truth. From the moment I began reading it, it felt like having a heartfelt conversation with someone who truly understands the subtle ways relationships shape our thoughts, behaviors, and dreams.
What I loved about this book is its simplicity and honesty. The author doesn’t sermonize or lecture; rather shares her experiences and observations in a way that feels deeply relatable. Through touching examples, whether it’s how a small comment becomes a limitation or how a word of encouragement reignites lost hope, the author helps us see how our circle of family, friends, and colleagues impacts every aspect of our lives.
The author’s warmth and quiet wisdom create an inviting atmosphere where self-reflection feels natural, not forced. The author encourages us to consciously choose people who uplift and inspire rather than those who drain our energy or cloud our vision. The message is profound yet easy to digest: be mindful of your relationships, cultivate connections that nurture growth, and allow yourself to let go when needed.
For anyone seeking personal development, mental clarity, or a more intentional way of living, this book offers both a mirror and a map. It’s not just about changing who’s around you, it’s about transforming how you; interact with them and how you allow their influence to shape your future. It’s a must-read for those eager to live intentionally and embrace relationships that inspire strength and resilience.
This book reads like a gentle but impactful conversation with a trusted mentor—someone who understands how the people we surround ourselves with quietly shape our thoughts, choices, and outlook. Lakshmi Pravallika doesn’t preach; instead, she invites you to reflect on your circle—family, friends, colleagues—as a mirror and a mold shaping your reality. The chapters resonate with clarity, weaving in relatable anecdotes and quietly persuasive examples that feel real, not staged.
What makes the journey memorable is how the author illuminates the subtle dynamics at play—when a well-meaning comment becomes a limiting belief, or when a supportive gesture breathes new courage into a stalled dream. She gently guides readers to recognize influence—not solely as something to manage, but also as something to cultivate wisely. The tone balances warmth and quiet wisdom; it feels both conversational and deeply grounded. By the end, I felt more aware of who I listen to—and how, in that attention, realities are co-created.
This book is a non-fiction book and it is the first time I have ever read this genre. This book is all about the influence other people have in our life, how we have been since childhood mostly living life according to different people from our life. It tells us that we should be ourselves, we should not make our decision based on what other people will think, we should be our own person, not care what others think about us. People will always judge whether you are doing things according to them or not. One thing I like about this book is that it felt so relatable like all the above things have happened in my life be it peer pressure, college subject decision, career decisions somewhere down the line I have felt this is what is happening in our life and not in our but it's going on from ages. The book also describes that sometimes letting go of people is necessary to keep yourself at peace and getting closure is not mandatory. Overall I got to know alot of things and some of things which I need to apply in my life to live a happy life and a peaceful one as well.

We are the average of the five people we surround ourselves with and that's why it's very important to be around people who have a positive impact on our lives.
This book explains the same with simple yet profound examples from the author's life. Every decision has been influenced by our next kin and friends. So how to slowly create a conscious group of friends and family is also something the book talks about.
