Book three of the "Back to Bad" series has Lacey in some deep water.
Secrets, lies and constant chaos is what Lacey Caldez has come to expect from her life. The thing is - she thrives on it. Derives pleasure and power from the mess she's created. But nothing good ever lasts and what she thought she knew about the darkness in her life is about to be challenged. Bad girls are bound to get caught. The kicker? Lacey isn't your average bad girl.
Jose, her bad boy love interest, Lacey's Mom, the FBI and the rest of Robbie's bad boy's are all in the picture now. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book along with that darn cliffhanger!!
"Because stripping doesn't give me the same thrill stealing, lying and killing does. It doesn't scratch the itch to be bad the way bank robberies, poisonings and shooting a gun does."
Lacey continues her badass, takeover-the-world mentality in the face of some seriously crappy things that keep happening. Now granted she not completely without fault in these crappy things… but that’s not the point! (I consider it a sign of excellent writing when I am cheering for someone that would normally be considered ‘the bad guy’!) We see more of Jose and more of Lacey’s mom, who she is still just as devoted to. Lacey wants so badly to make her mom proud and improve what can only be described as a tough existence but in the end it appears her actions are putting the only person she loves straight in the line of fire. This becomes evident with a new character that we meet this installment but I cannot say too much without giving anything away… so you’ll have to grab this one for yourself! I was honored to be able to read Malicious a couple of weeks before release and I will forgive this author for another “OMFG” cliffhanger because I know that Ms Eby will deliver on the next installment – posthaste!
Lacey Caldez is a force to be reckoned with and shows us just how much in book three. This girl is merciless and when she thinks she's in the clear, she isn't. Not by a long shot.
Trouble has come knocking at her door and Lacey needs to decide who he is, what he wants and just how much does he really know. She is playing with the big boys now and is finally a little scared, however hides it well. Jose is still on her side, but isn't trusting her as far as he can throw her and the feeling is mutual.
Lacey's main goal is to keep her mother safe, which is hard to do when her mom has no idea what she's been up to. Lacey thinks the key to her and her mother's freedom is in Robbie's safe, but boy was she wrong. Dead wrong. The key to her happiness is nowhere in sight, she doesn't know who to trust and Jose is at the end of his rope with her.
The book is again well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat with each turn of the page. I love that they are quick, but again very powerful and the ending has you going WTF?
****May contain spoilers if you haven't read the first two books, Capricious & Voracious****
Lacey and Jose are going through even more shit now. Robbie's death is bringing up unanswered questions so they are stuck not knowing who to trust and what to do. The FBI is starting to get involved and something is changing in Lacey. Dare I say it but she's starting to show some emotions for someone other than herself and her mom. That ending was just WOW. It's not what I expected her to do but it's understandable. She needs to know what's going on and Jose is the person that can possibly help.
The cliffhangers in this series are killing me! I need more!!!! :D
Highly recommend this series. Lacey is a chick you can't pass up. She'll possibly kill you if you do. Just saying.
Have you ever played with a paddle ball? You know that moment when the ball is not quite at the end of its tether, but hasn’t quite yet made it back to the paddle? That’s “Malicious,” the third installment of the Back to Bad series by Jade Eby.
Once again, the action picks up right where “Voracious” left off. Quickly Lacey is on her own to reflect on her cation and contemplate her next move. Just as she decides what to do next another obstacle (or two) is lobbed at her. This leaves Lacey, and the readers, wondering how Lacey will escape this time.
While this installment of the Back to Bad series isn’t as tension fraught as the first 2 short stories, it is a solid bridge chapter leading to the final two stories featuring Lacey Caldez.
This book definitely had some twists and turns to it with an ending that will leave you frantically trying to turn pages with the insane hope that there is another page with even a few more words just so you can find out how it all continues. Thankfully I have seen that there are 2 more books left! If that was the final the end I think I would tear my hair out, but now I just have to wait for the next one. . . Do yourselves a favor and pick these up! I haven't read a serial kind of series before and this may not fall under that genre but it seems to fit there to me. But I would definitely give other ones a chance after reading this series.
I should have done this a while ago but I've been so busy the past two weeks with the stress of work! Sorry about that, Jade!
I loved how this one was a tad different from the rest but equally as amazing!!! I never want the Back To Bad series to end! Lacey is still a bad ass and I think things are away to get even more exciting! The cliffhangers are always amazing and leave me wanting more!! Totally never expected this cliffhanger! Amazing as usual!! Hooked to Jades books, she's a fab author!! Can't wait to read more of her stuff!
Okay, the frenzy is now settling, and Lacey is left with the aftermath of whats to come. Who can she trust? Should she follow her instincts? Is her Mom safe? These and other inquiring questions will hopefully be answered in the next edition of this incredible Back to Bad series. Again, Kindle Unlimited is awesome!
This series continues to intrigue me. Seems as though Lacey may finally be getting what's coming to her. Can't live the bad life without bad consequences. Can never be too sure of yourself, too big headed. Things are coming unraveled for our Lacey and, I can't wait to read what happens next!
