If you're looking for a very quick and light read, CHASING DECEMBER is for you.
After a couple of bad dating experiences, December has decided to give up on dating and men for the time being. Wanting to do what she loves, she cashes in her savings and opens up a specialty candle shop. When Chase (what a sexy name) enters the store looking for a Christmas gift for his sister, the pair can't take their eyes off each other. After some interference from her sister Lumi, December agrees to have coffee with Chase. And so begins their romantic tale.
This is a very short story, the pace is very fast and the story is an insta-love. Within two days days, the pair have had sex and go on a tropical holiday together after December's shop burns down. A few days later she returns home to find he has relocated her candle business to a better district and it's already open for business. Despite it's pace, it's still a cute read with some hot scenes.
The only thing that annoyed me was December's over the top reaction to things.

December has had her ups and downs with men. Okay, mostly downs. So when she meets a handsome man that asks her out for coffee, she's hesitant at first, but ultimately agrees, thanks to her little sister.
Now, this is where I start. December has had her heart shattered by men. She's reluctant to say yes to coffee even, however, all of a sudden December is throwing herself at this man, Chase, and asking for sex. It was like a 180. It's ok, let's move past her jumping on him and him turning her down because he didn't want her to think low of him if he'd said yes. The next day, he's picking her up for an outing. Okay, great. Well, actually, they end up having sex on the couch, and this is after her telling him "no, not like this" when he had set her atop the kitchen counter. Well, Chase not wanting her to think low of him kinda went out the window there.
They end up going on a vacation together after her store burns from an electrical fire. A vacation, with a man she doesn't even know. OK.
Basically, what I mostly got from this was sex, sex, and sex. There was no real connection to the characters. We really don't even get to know them at all. We get that December has men issues, her little sister is more adventurous than she and jumps from guy to guy, and that Chase is wealthy, the owner of a construction company, and seems to think December is an awesome and amazing woman, but we don't get why. Is it because she's pretty? That's all I can figure, because their characters aren't developed enough for anything else, and they basically don't know each other.
December spends most of the book being/getting upset with Chase and jumping to conclusions. Hot head much? She really needs to fix herself before anything else. And Chase spends most of it begging her to stay. WHY? What's between them other than good looks and hot sex? Nothing from what I can tell.
This is all if you can get past the grammatical and spelling issues/typos littering every single page. I highlighted most of them, because there were so many and it was distracting, which the book is now more yellow than black and white.
While I really was looking forward to this book and the cover seemed so sweet, I was utterly let down by the fact that, to me, this is really nothing more than a low-grade erotica trying to be a sweet romance book.
What would you do if you had given up on love.? Would you jump at the chance if it walked right through your door right or let it walk back out that door?
December has been hurt before, so she guards her heart and puts all of her energy into her shop. That is until Chase walks through her doors. With a little push she may just find what she really looking for but will she break her walls down enough to see that?
This was a beautiful story filled with humor, love and well a sexiness I didn't expect. Don't let the cover deceive you, while it is a lighter read some of the scenes are down right hot.
I am extremely impressed with how in such a short time and across a few genres E. Montgomery is really starting to find her voice as a writer. I suggest you keep her on your automatic one-click list because she will surely be on mine.
I fully enjoyed reading "Chasing December". A fine story for Christmas time. I had to give 5 stars.
A backstory most women can relate too. Making a big change to get a fresh start after bad relationships. I admit, I wanted to knock out December's ex. But that's just me. I enjoyed the interaction between Lumi and December, but it was stated that Lumi was 17, but the impression I got from the dialogue was that she was a bit older, early 20's.
The hesitation of December and the confidence of Chase was great to read. I laughed and squealed when she got drunk. I squirmed in my seat at Chase's peanut butter line.
Normally I can predict the direction of stories and novellas but this kept me guessing and I guess them all wrong. I would love to see a sequel on Lumi!
A winter warming fairy tale. December, after getting hurt in the past, has focussed her time and energy on her business and that has left no time for other pursuits. When Chase stumbles into her store looking for a birthday present, he leaves with something more - December's attention - and so begins a fairy tale with Chase being much more than he appears to be. For December as an independent woman, it is difficult to accept help as it is a sign of weakness for her but Chase is not going anywhere and is determined to help out when he can to make her life a lot easier. This can cause conflict between them both and can leave December feeling suspicious about his motives.
This was a quick read for a cold winter night as it warmed the heart with it's sweet, love story.
Overall Rating **** ½ Stars. This was a short but beautiful story. I thought it was lovely and amazing. I was mad that it ended, I wanted to read more about Chase and December. They made a beautiful couple and he was so good to her. December has bad luck with guys. But can Chase change that for her? You will have to read the book to find out if they get a HEA. Lumi was a great secondary character, her and December are sisters that run a candle shop. I thought their relationship was perfect. I really wished this book was longer and the reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is because I wish there was more of a back story. But other than that it was a fantastic read. I recommend it.
Not really all that much on the sweet romance type of books... But I really enjoyed this one. E. Montgomery gives you a little bit of everything in one sitting. A great read to enjoy over a nice cold evening.
Love at first sight, does it really exist? Does it even last? Read Chasing December to see just what happens!
This was a feel good read. I kept my guard up waiting for something bad to happen to one of the mains or some kind of betrayal, but when that didnt happen i was happy for them both and came away feeling like good things can, will, and still are allowed to happen!
I LOVED this book so much. I don't want to say too much and give the plot away but it's an incredibly sweet and romantic story with SUCH good character progression.
Give this a read and you genuinely wont regret it!!
