I was born in Africa and left out in the sun too often.
After being persuaded that I wasn't going to be able to be a cowboy if I grew up, I got interested in philosophy and psychology. Tending bars proved to me they weren't as much fun as they sounded. While trying to enroll in a class to read Science Fiction full time, I ended up taking an electronic engineering degree which splendidly qualified me to move into marketing. That in turn spawned a late onset career in creative writing.
When not writing, I fly a microlight aircraft, or get muddy on a mountain bike.
I love reading obviously. Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, History, Crime, Art, oh nearly everything.
I just finished putting my life on hold to binge this series. I have to say this hits all my needs for a great read. -smooth writing style -action packed and a mystery to solve -unique world with a well paced roll out of information that leaves you intrigued rather than confused -an ever evolving FMC who is funny, likable and tough -secondary characters that add so much to the storytelling that they deserve their own series -love and respect as underlying threads that hold the characters together -logical sexual content that fits the world and doesn’t bog down the story (I initially worried it could turn Anita Blake series style but it did not) -found family and found community -humor, sarcasm and some snark As others have said, if you enjoy Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series, and I would add Lisa Edmonds’ Alice Worth series, JS Kennedy’s Mackenzie Green series, and TA Whites’ Aileen Travers series then this series is definitely worth reading. Enjoy!
I have spent the past ten day/nights reading this series! It pulls you in and doesn't let go until the very end. I believe that it would be a fantastic dramatized audio format! I will be listening to it on Audible soon!
It is 8 books, so naturally it is very long, but the later ones are just walking over the same ground. I enjoy the story but the polyamory is completely over the top with many scenes that are pornographic. In the beginning the author does a pretty good job of staying in female character, but it starts breaking down and I actually keep forgetting the main character is supposed to be female in later stories. I would not continue this series.
