This is exactly what I was wanting some sexy times with a small paranormal romance. I liked that it was short and sweet also, I knew it was going to be quick and to the point. Rafe was careful and loving the whole time even when he was possessive. Hazel goes along for the ride literally. Though she deserves it after all that she had to put up with.
Wow! Feral Mate by Roxie Murfit, is the first book in the new, Beautiful Beasts series. It’s a short read but, damn, does it pack a punch! It’s starts out with a victim of domestic abuse running for her life. (If this is a trigger for you, protect yourself by being aware.) With her abuser on her tail, she runs into the woods and into something that might be scarier than the man hunting her. Thrilling, exciting, suspenseful, and satisfying, if this is an example of the rest of the series, I’m all in!.

Start to Beautiful Beast hang on you won’t put it down until the last page is turned. Hazel is on the run from an abusive boyfriend just trying to make it another day with a little peace and taking off into the wood not knowing what to expect but at least she is away from her ex. Rafe a sexy as all get out wolf shifter out in the woods when he runs into a human that bring all of his protectiveness, and he is the feral enough to handle the situation of her ex. The moment they meet the magnetic pull is there, but trust is something that doesn’t come easy for her considering where she is coming from, but can he convince her not all guys are like her ex., will her ex. get what he deserves, does she get the peace she is seeking, and will it all end with a HEA?
This book was a little odd for me. Hazel was running from an abusive relationship, literally running away into the woods, badly hurt, when she stumbles upon Rafe. Then all of a sudden they are in this passionate embrace and it just seemed like her injuries just vanished. Then, later, Rafe realizes she's hurt and goes into super protective caring mode, which was lovely, but it all seemed a little disjointed to me.
I liked Hazel and Rafe as characters, both hurt, both needing someone to love them, protect them. They were at the same time tough but vulnerable people, who were missing the other half of their heart. They found it in each other, and that was a satisfying resolution. As was the epilogue, that was a wonderful way to round out Rafe and Hazel's story.
Overall, not a bad book, just a little clumsy in places.
Feral Mate by Roxie Murfit is spicy, fast-paced, and everything you could want from a possessive, fated-mate werewolf romance.
The story follows Hazel, who’s finally had enough of her abusive boyfriend—he’s hurt her for the last time. One night, she escapes out the window in nothing but her pajamas and runs into the dark woods. But instead of finding freedom, she runs straight into the arms of a dangerous stranger.
Except Rafe isn’t just a man—he’s a wolf man. He wasn’t expecting to find this beauty in the woods, but now that he has, his only instinct is to protect her. He might be exactly what Hazel’s been needing: someone who truly wants to take care of her.
A steamy, wild read that’s perfect for fans of fated mates, insta-love, and protective heroes.

FERAL MATE by Roxie Murfit is a short, spicy wolf-shifter novella about Hazel, who flees her abusive ex into the woods, only to collide with Rafe—a dangerous, magnetic wolf who claims her as his mate. Sparks fly fast (insta-love style), danger looms, and protection becomes possessiveness.
It’s a quick, sexy romp with a strong alpha hero and a heroine trying to heal. But the plot feels thin—more heat than depth—and the insta-romance jumps a little too fast. Also, the emotional stakes could’ve been higher with more scene space to breathe.
If you want a steamy, escapist wolf shifter read that doesn’t demand too much from your brain, this fits. But for readers wanting richer worldbuilding or slower burn, it may leave you wanting more.
This book delivered exactly what it promised. Feral Mate is a super short read — the kind of story you can finish in a day if you're bored, traveling, or just need a break from long series and heavy plots. It’s a fast, spicy wolf-shifter romance with a simple storyline and no complicated world-building. Honestly, it’s just meant to be fun and relaxing.
I gave it four stars because it didn’t try to be something bigger than it is. It promised a quick, hot romance and that’s exactly what it delivered. If you’re looking for a short escape read with spice and werewolf vibes, this is a great pick.
I love a good story where the man is feral and looks at his mate like she is the answer to cure all of his hurt. My heart melts for Rafe in this story and that’s saying something when our girl has it ROUGH in the beginning! And with a little bit of unbelievable spice from literally FIRST SIGHT the rest of the story is heartwarming and sweet (but with some revenge). Finding a shifter man who is head over heels for me, is definitely at the top of my bucket list!
Okay, this one ate. I sat down for a quick spicy wolf fix and ended up clutching my Kindle like a goddamn lifeline. Hazel running from one shitshow into a hotter, furrier one? Yes. Rafe is the kind of monster you let ruin your life and say thank you. He's unhinged, protective, and just the right amount of feral. The sex? Yeah, it’s there. Quick, primal, and hits like a truck. Do I wish it was longer? Sure. But for what it is... pure filthy vibes with teeth. It did exactly what I needed.
The book I’m reviewing today is titled, Feral Mate which is the first installment of The Beautiful Beasts Book Series written by Roxie Murfit. This story was a solid read. It was very well written and both characters were great! It was a quick spicy story with great characters. I love it when the authors write characters so well you feel like you know them.

The book was very fast‑paced, which is understandable given its short length. However, the FMC made almost no rational decisions...there was no common sense at all. She somehow “just knew” the male lead was a werewolf without any explanation, which felt completely unrealistic. Overall the book felt like a fanfiction that somehow got published...honestly, many FF are more complex, more articulate, and have better plots than this book. i could probably write a better book when i was twelve.
Rafe is a wolf , Hazel is a human running from her abusive boyfriend. But once Rafe gets his claws on her , she is no long afraid. This one was again a short and spicy read. It is a HI, boom mate , insta-love books and it is a great lunchtime read.

A woman runs from an abusive partner into the arms (or claws) of a wolf shifter. This was a super quick and easy read full of spice, but as expected due to the length of the book, lacking in plot. The MMC was protective, and the FMC was accepting of his violent side.

★”This was a one-time thing. A crazy escape from reality. Wasn't it?”★
Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars - Enjoyed this quick and steamy bite of a novella. Woman escapes bad ex only to run into the big bad wolf in the woods. Insta-claim, a confrontation, HEA.
This book will require that you suspend every ounce of reality and sadly my poor brain just couldn’t do it. How do you expect me to completely disregard everything that just happened in the previous chapter all so you can spend the next chapter overwhelming me with smut. Sorry can’t do it.
