Praying Mantises

Rate this book
These unique insects get their name from the position in which they hold their front legs together. These legs are also preying as they shoot out and grab insects for the mantis to eat. Students will learn about the other physical characteristics of praying mantises and how they use each body part.

On Sunday, my six-year-old son spotted a green praying mantis in his treehouse. Then, yesterday, when we went to the library, there was a brown praying mantis on the car next to ours. Our fate was sealed: We had to check out books on praying mantises.

This book was great for young readers. There were loads of colorful, detailed photographs and the text was clean and concise and informative.
