Why Do Bad Boys Make You Feel So Good?

Everyone has had their experiences with him. The Bad Boy. The strong, quiet type with a voice as smooth and cool as whiskey poured over chocolate ice cream.

For Dr. Patrick Bishop that bad boy was Max Stovall. They met, when at forty-two years old, Patrick decides to get his first tattoo. Max didn't say much at their first meeting, but he didn't have to. Patrick was immediately attracted to him. He sensed the attraction was mutual, even though Max played it cool and pretended otherwise.

Getting close to Max won't be easy. He's in the closet and determined to stay there. Will Patrick walk away, or will he be able to show Max that life is better once you’ve embraced the one you love?

Bad Boys Need Love Too: Max is a steamy gay romance full of drama, love, and explicit sex scenes. Max and Patrick’s novella is book three in a complete three book series.

Since that first attempt, Christa has written many spicy fanfictions of her favorite characters and romances featuring her own hot and sexy heroes. After many years in the sunny warmth of Houston, Texas, Christa has returned home to St. Louis, Missouri. She is a former high school social studies teacher and retired roller derby player. Don't ask her if romance requires an HEA or she'll use her roller derby skills to hip check you.

WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

I have admittedly only read a handful of gay romances, but this is the best one by far! This is not some sordid gay bangeroo story. This is a love story. This story deals with some serious issues not only in the lgbt community, but the black community: living in the closet out of fear of rejection and ostracism, and just straight up homophobia.

Max is a well-respected tattoo artist, and we get to know him a little in the first two Bad Boys stories. Max finally has his day in the sun, but he has a secret not even his brothers from another mother know about: He's gay. But his friends and associates think he's this straight player because he always has a new chick on his arm. They're not even beards-more like stubble cause he only keeps them for a few dates then dumps them because he's living a lie. Max, like so many black men in this world (not just the US)lives in fear. Homophobia is rampant in the black community and not only can it get you ostracized from your family, but in worst cases, it can get you killed.

Max meets Patrick who happens to be the father of one of his gay employee's girlfriend, and the sparks immediately fly between the two. Their courtship was so sweet, but Max is living his life in the closet which poses not only challenges for him and Patrick, but at times, some heated contention.

I encourage any fans of lgbt romance to click this one, and if you're curious about lgbt romance, click this one. There is nothing sordid or perverted about gay romance. I've read straight romance stories that was straight smut and can't hold a candle this tale. Bottom line, when it all boils down, love is love. This was a truly enjoyable read.

Ughh, this was really good until the ending which was a HFN with no "I love yous" being spoken. It left me feeling completely unfulfilled because their lives together were just beginning. Do they move in with each other, have kids in the future like Max wants? Is there going to be another book (even if it's another couple) showing their relationship progress? I hope so because this novella felt like 1/2 of an unfinished book.

HOT AND ACHINGLY TOUCHING!!

This is the hot and extremely sexy story between Max and Patrick. Hot, hard, sexy and private Max finds himself locked in the closet but desperate for the key after he tattoos sexy silver fox Patrick. This story follows how Max struggles with his own fears about being honest with his family and friends about his sexuality. Patrick being a divorced father can relate and tries to help him through it. Once again, this author gives you characters with depth and a terrific back story. The relationship between the two characters was hot, sexy and well written. I loved that Gage and Nate from the previous stories were mentioned also. I just wish it was longer of course, don't we always. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!

I was looking forward to Max's story since the first book in the series and it didn't disappoint! I felt for Max and his struggles about coming out. Its sad to think in this day and age that it can still be something a person has to worry about. Love is love. I loved that Patrick was as patient as he was but that he wasn't afraid to let his frustration show at times. Max's grandmother was AWESOME!! Hugs to her! And its always great to see Gage, Joseph, Nate, and Kevin pop up. The stories from all three take place along the same time frame. And I loved when everyone showed their support with cookies!! That was a fun moment! I'm looking forward to more books in the series!

Max needs to come clean, can Dr. Bishop help him admit his desires? Max is scared and meets Patrick Bishop who he can't seem to stop thinking about. Giving in and finding something that makes him happy, Patrick wants him to be out, can he do that? I loved them both, their story and how Grandma never shows her lack of love for him. Read and enjoy Max and Patrick, they are sexy as sin!!!

Just finished Max book and really liked it. It compares more to Nate's book than Gage's. The MCs were great and I really loved Patrick. The acceptance and ending were a little rushed, but the book closed the series nicely.

The book was smexy, but not as romantic as the previous one. It was nice to finally know what happend on Max's room during is birthday bash.

Another good, quick read.

Another quick and light read - and this one just flew by. I preferred it to Nate, not sure if that's because Max seemed more normal to me or because the story felt like it had more meat to it. Again, I would have liked more story in places, particularly the ending (I wanted to know what happened after for Max/Patrick!) but then part of its charm was it being short!

I've read the first book, Gage and Joseph but not Nate's the second book. I liked Gage and Joseph's book best.
Max was a bit of a asshole to Patrick and the ending was kind of abrupt. I would have liked to see how it worked out between Max and Patrick and Max's desire to have a family.

This could have been amazing book

The author set her readers up for Max's story in the first book of this series and now that I've read it, I'm truly disappointed. There may be some spoilers for those who haven't read it, so read at your own risk.

In Gage's story, Joseph sees Max embraced with someone but doesn't reveal who to the readers because he doesn't feel it's his business to discuss. That piqued my interest and made me want to read Max's story even more. I feel like the author rushed through this story and didn't give me, as a reader, what I needed to connect even more to Max and Patrick.

Max is in the closet, and is determined to stay there because of how black men who are gay are looked at and treated by the black community, and he doesn't bottom because he feels like he'll be less of a man somehow if he does. The author just glosses over these two facts and doesn't allow Max to really struggle over them. When he finally does come out, his birth mother has a problem with it and he gets only a paragraph to tell her how he really feels after having been thrown away by her and growing up in the system. Not finding his family until he was twenty years old. I feel like that confrontation should have been a long time coming, and deserved much more attention than just one paragraph. And when he finally bottoms for the first time, there is nothing after that. Nothing!!!!

Patrick is the father of one of Max's employees. We learn that he lived in the closet, married a woman and when he decided that he didn't want to live a lie any longer, divorced his wife and lives as a proud gay man. There was absolutely no backstory as to how his wife took it, how his daughter took it, or what struggles he had to go through to be able to live his truth.

The story was good for what it was, but the author did not do these characters, or their story, any justice. They truly deserved the same full-length novel Gage and Joseph got. I really wanted to love it, but I just couldn't. There were just too many things left undone.

I am a fan of this author. I've read The Sergeant and the subsequent books, so I know the writing she is capable of. She didn't live up to her potential here.

I'm sad to say I was a little disappointed... sigh....
I was really looking forward to Max, and while I'm glad he got his HEA, I felt like it was forced.
So, see... Max is in the closet, really because of his grandma and his mom. His grandma is amazing and I hate that he would be worried about disappointing her, but I get it.... his mom, I wouldn't have given two shiz, about. She's a terrible person.
BUT, that, on top of just not wanting the stigma that comes with being a gay man, he just stayed in the closet..not even his best friends, Gage and Nate knew....

Then, Dr. Bishop comes along, with his daughter who works at the shop with Max, or maybe her girlfriend does and she just gets inked by him, I don't remember.... either way, they're attracted to each other, but I didn't really feel that from Max for a while... Dr. Bishop, or Patrick, he keeps coming on to Max and telling him that he'll be in the closet with him and take things slow, but he doesn't... he's constantly pushing for more and it was a little cringy at times when he jsut assumed something or tried to do something anyway, knowing that MAx wasn't for it.... I mean, I get it... He knew Max wanted it deep down, but... he was just too pushy for me....although he was good for Max and I liked him with Max, I just didn't like that part. It would've pushed me away and it did Max for a second, but then Doc would relent, Max would apologize and it'd be the same thing all over again.
I dunno, I just didn't feel it and I so badly wanted to, because I thought for sure Max was going to be my favorite!

It's a cute story still and like I said, I'm glad they got their HEA, but Gage and Joseph, as dysfunctional and insane as they made be, are still my favorite :)
3 stars from me on this one :( Sorry!

I loved Max in the other books. Somehow, in his own book though, he came off kind of douchey. I know he was closeted but he treated Patrick horribly. He went from this guy I respected in the other 2 books to someone I didnt want to read about anymore. Thank God the book was short.

I enjoyed this series. The characters seemed so real and likeable and the right amount of sexy and story. The right length and not drawn out too long.

The third book to the “Bad Boys Need Love Too” Series part 3 was as good as part 1 and 2.

I have gotten this book with the part 1 of this series as I mentioned before, I had won part 1 through Goodreads, and receive all 3 books in the series.

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2018...

I’m going to spill some spoilers in this review. Because I kind of got a lot to say. Sort of anyway lol.

I liked this book, and I understood how it was well I don’t understand, but I do lol. But it’s was understandable while reading this book that it was hard for Max to come out. I just didn’t understand how he was so afraid of telling both his best friends Gage and Nate that he was actually GAY. When both of them are gay themselves. I was glad that he finally at the end told them, and his grandmother about him being gay and they accepted him for who he actually was.

I like how Patrick brought the gay out of Max when he was trying to hide his sexuality from everybody that knew him.

2 star review by Amber

I really don’t even know where to start with this story. This was the third and final book in the Bad Boys Need Love Too series and it was just plain, blah. I don’t know where all the heat, passion, chemistry, spark, and mystery went from the first 2 books. It’s unfortunate because I was really looking forward to Max’s story. In the first two books this author had me so curious about Max. She totally wetted my appetite but now all I feel is let down.

Max is the owner of Bayou City Ink tattoo parlor. He’s a very much closeted African American man. He has a lot of issues and baggage that he is trying to work through. His mom abandoned him at birth without ever telling her family she was pregnant. He was reunited with them after having spent all his childhood and adolescent in foster homes. He sees being gay as something his biological grandmother and mother couldn’t handle so he hides it. He’s very quiet and shy but driven to succeed.

Dr. Patrick Bishop is an out and proud 42 years old. Having spent a lot of time in the closet and being married to a woman he now lives his life free and in the open. He has a daughter who he accompanies to a tattoo expo. His daughter happens to be dating one of Max’s employees.

When Max and Patrick meet I honestly felt NOTHING. Max is so closed off. He’s like a ghost, there but not there so it’s so hard to tell anything. Patrick I liked a little more but he too was hard to read so being able to feel and watch the attraction grow was difficult for me.

What ensues is a very secret relationship they set out upon. Patrick happily goes back in the closet to be with Max. I didn’t really understand that decision since he spent so much time in the closet when he was married.

Anyway Max struggles with his desires for Patrick. He wants him but he doesn’t want to be “gay” in the public eye. For me his inner battle was tiresome.

I did enjoy when he came out to Nate and Gage. Of course they accepted him but it was really nice seeing the 3 interact.

This was just ok for me. Kind of a disappointing end to a series I really enjoyed up until this point.

Loved this. Well written, well edited, flowed well. Liked both characters. Hot sex. And everyone knows I lovvvvve me an older/younger couple. Plus Patrick had greying /silver hair. Swoooon. He greyed early, guys; he wasn't ancient. He was 42 to Max's 30.

Patrick and Max meet at a tattoo convention; Patrick's daughter is one of Max's employees and Patrick has come to check out the booth. He expresses interest in a tattoo and as Max and Patrick eke out the details, they both fight the attraction between them. Well Max fights it. Patrick is ready to get 'er done, but Max is so far in the closet he's wearing last season's clothes. Still, Patrick doesn't give up. He presses for a date and keeps at it until Max gives in. He knows Max is in the closet, but he goes against his better instincts and is willing to take Max anyway he can get him. Things are hot and heavy for a while, except of course Patrick wants to show off his man and Max isn't having it. Also, Max doesn't bottom.

I like the pacing here. It's a short book so the angst isn't some long, drawn out affair. Just a nice, hot shortish story that ends well.

Maybe I needed to read the earlier books, but I really didn't understand WHY Max was in the closet. His two best friends were both in m/m relationships, some of employees were gay; he owns his own business. Yes, I get the stigma of homosexuality in the black community, but he didn't seem to have much interaction with the black community to begin with. With the exception of his mother and grandmother, everyone he seemed concerned about coming out to was already either gay or gay friendly. Didn't make sense. And yes, Max is black. It only took me 3/4 of the book to figure that out. I know the author said he had dark brown skin but sometimes my idea of dark and someone else's is not the same. Nothing was mentioned about him being black until I was more than halfway in. Annnd tattoos do not show well on dark brown skin so that confused me even more. Still, great book. I loved them as a couple. I would read more about them.

This is an amazing story of Max who was an artist and owner of Bayou City Ink. He was also a closeted gay man who was lonely, but did not want to admit to anyone that he was gay. One day he met the father of a friend of his, Dr. Patrick Bishop, who was a General Practitioner, and very much openly gay, and he wanted Max to give him a beautiful tattoo. The two immediately had shown a strong attraction to one another, but Max told Patrick he was not gay. Patrick knew differently. Patrick was more assertive than Max. Couldn't understand why Max hadn't come out of the closet, but he finally got Max to accept it where they could see each other in secret. Max enjoyed being with Patrick, but being out in public and bottoming for Patrick was definitely not in the cards for Max. That eventually posed a problem. Patrick wanted more and Max knew that, but he just couldn't. On Max's birthday at his party, Patrick shows up uninvited and Max freaks. Patrick finally says he was not staying where he was not welcome and left. For a week or so after, Max is miserable, thinking he will just marry the first woman he sees, then he realizes that would just make him more miserable. He finally gets together with his best friends, Nate and Gage, and finally tells them he is gay. The weight was lifted. He calls Patrick and invites him for a drink not knowing if Patrick would show up after leaving the message on voicemail. Patrick walks into the bar, Max stands up, takes Patrick in his arms and gives him a kiss in public. After telling Patrick what was going on and that he was finally out, he invites him to meet his friends. The story just gets better and better...The Sex is Hot, the Emotions are riding high, and it looks like love. If you love MM Sex, Romance, and coming out of the closet you will love this. Don't miss this and the other 2 in the series. (less)

So I did really like this book, but there were a couple of really big issues I had with Patrick. All that said I still liked Patrick, I just didn't like how those two things were handled. Max was great I've looked forward to this book since Book 1, and it didn't really disappoint.

This is my first book by this author.

This is my first also my first M/M story. This is an interracial story about Max (black) and Patrick (white). It was hard for me to make a connection to the story because it was my first M/M read and of course being a woman it was kind of hard for me to relate to their story. However, I fully could understand Max's reasons for wanting to remain in the closet being a black man, he did not want to face rejection from the black family he has only just found. Max did treat Patrick badly but I think it was because of all his fears about coming out as a black man and those fears are real and genuine, as his own mother demonstrates through her rejection of Max not once but twice in his lifetime!

Interesting read!

Again, my only complaint would be that this is a novella. I could have used a full length book on Max and Patrick. They're so great together. Plus, I really like how Christa mixes up her couple dynamics. The older man and hot black man is something I haven't come across before and it is a sexy put together. And when Max finally comes out of the closet, it's such a great come back together for these two. Of course, I liked revisiting with Gage, Joseph, Nate and Kevin as well. I really loved Max from the very beginning in book 1. He's a man of few words but the words he chooses are meaningful and powerful. He doesn't disappoint in his own book.

Reviewed by Brandilyn for Prism Book Alliance. The third book in the Bad Boys Need Love Too series from Christa Tomlinson is another winner. In this installment, we follow the exploits of one Max. A hot and deeply closeted tattoo artist. When he is pursued by the father of a friend, a hot Silver Fox by the name of Dr. Patrick Bishop. Bishop pursues Max despite Max's obvious reticence to be found out by his friends and family.

So, I think this was my least favorite story in the series. I just didn't really get that intense connection and emotional bang between Max and Patrick like I did with the other previous couples. I liked how, with the second book, this overlapped events that were going on in the first and second book, especially Max's party (now we know what was just mentioned in Gage's story) but I wish there had been a bit more build up for Max and Patrick, or something.

I think this book was really good. It was along the lines of Nates book. More romantic and deep. Less sex and lots of feeling.
I did feel that this book wasn't finished properly. Or if it is we need another book in the series. All the boys have HFN endings it would be brilliant if we could know what happens to all the couples.

Oh Max

Poor Max for 30 years he denied who he was. But in walks Patrick who wants Max anyway he can have him. Patrick makes Max think about what he wants in life, but he is still to scared to come out. But when Max decide to come out I love how his grandmother took it, it was just so sweet. Wish this book had been longer needed more on Max and Patrick.
