The Druid and the Dragon Queen series has got to be one of my favorite and book two The Dawn of the Dragons Daughter did not disappoint! Esmeray's writing is easy to become immersed in. Her characters make the reader feel love and hate, the world building she gives us is one of a kind, and the plot keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.
The character development in The Dawn of the Dragons Daughter is spot on. Esmeray gives us characters in which you can feel their different personalities in the subtle ways when they speak to each other and how they narrate their chapters in this multiple POV story. Draven is back taking his book boyfriend crown (think antler sort of crown with some carvings or something in it sort of vibes) and Aiya is bringing the heat (literally) by finding her way in her new Druid world and creating her own life. Yes👏🏼 girl👏🏼!
I was so excited to get back to the druid world nestled in between nature and treehouses. The world that is portrayed in the book is like none other that I've ever read, and the way that it is painted through the pages makes it easy to picture in the readers mind and so incredibly beautiful. There was one point I almost had to pass over because the imagery that the words portrayed were so intense that my stomach almost couldn't handle it (in a good way). In my opinion, when an author can hone in and manipulate a reader into having a feeling like that, that's because their writing is amazing.
This (and the first book) is one of those stories that I will again be thinking of for weeks (possibly months) I believe. The plot twists, surprises and the ride that we go on with Draven, Aiya and crew is immense. It's another book that I feel like I've lived years in a span of 10 days that it took me to read this book that's how much happened! The flow of story is great with just a few little hiccups. In my opinion there could be a bit of a better flow between a few of the chapters but we're already talking about a book that's 700+ pages it sounds like so there is a lot there already. We were taken on a ride though for sure! So much more fantasy, darkness and background storyline in this second one I loved it. Esmeray left this reader excited for the next book and wanting more!
Overall, I loved this book, highly recommend! I cannot wait to continue to see what happens in the future books of The Druid and the Dragon Queen series!

So this book did something weird to me that I havent really experienced with a book yet. I found myself taking breaks from the second book. Not because I didnt like, but because it seemed kind of slow. However... everytime I put it down, I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen next or picturing how I thought the story would go. So I would pick it up a few minutes later just to read a little more. There is quite a bit of world building in the beginning, so if you are a fan of that, you'll like this. The story was exciting, and I was a big fan of the dynamic between the FMC and the MMC. The relationship between them seemed effortless and I loved that it didnt seem like their storyline was being rushed. There are definitely some heartbreaking moments in this book, but man, it's good book. I would definitely recommend, especially to those that love books that build a whole fantasy world.
Arc review of The Dawn of the Dragon's Daughter: The Druid and the Dragon Queen, Book 2 from Esmeray Sultan.

I read the "The Druid and the Dragon Queen" series (book 1 and 2) in just a few days and absolutely loved it. The world, the fauna, the flora, and its traditions are captivating, and the magic system is original. While book 1 starts off quickly, I felt it lost momentum in its second half. However, book 2 is very well-balanced: the male and female protagonists alternate between moments of great danger and periods of respite. Their love story is love at first sight; the couple is never truly in danger, so the plot doesn't focus on that, but rather on the stakes for their kingdom and the reasons that drive Agrona to want to exterminate them.
The main and secondary characters are fully developed and very well-rounded. Several clues are scattered throughout the narrative, but some of the characters' fates still surprise us. The writing from multiple points of view beautifully complements their development.
Aiya is a passionate woman, with a burning passion running through her veins. She's not afraid to take action and refuses to be told what to do. She's captivating, and you want to follow her story and see what becomes of her.
Draven, presented as the perfect Prince Charming, actually has flaws. Personally, I don't like perfect characters who strive for perfection, but I understand why he's portrayed that way. And this desire to be perfect and to do good will probably be his biggest obstacle in life.
The book's structure is definitely more fast-paced than the first one. The characters embark on a main quest, but also on side quests that ground the story and make it enjoyable to read. I particularly liked the descriptions of knitting and sewing, as well as the rediscovery of the different types of magic.
It's not a dark romance, but the author isn't afraid of sacrifices, which makes the story more believable. When the characters go to war and none of them loses a loved one, the story loses some of its tension.
It was a good read, a solid 4 stars, and I'm eagerly awaiting volume 3.

Critique du livre The Dawn of the Dragon's Daughter: The Druid and the Dragon Queen, volume 2 de Esmeray Sultan (non disponible en français).
Esmeray Sultan's romantasy has it all. Royalty, romance, fated mates, best friends, DRAGONS, suspense, dangerous quests, evil villain, and magic. And the list can keep going.
Picking up with Aiya and Draven's story where Wildflower in the Grove (book 1) left us, brought us back into the fold of life in the Grove of Tir Runda. Watching Aiya's life from pampered princess to established seamstress, learning of and participation in Druidic customs, and building her own connections while Draven is out "rangering" was part of the world building we didn't get in Wildfire.
We got to experience what Draven and his Rangers go through as they keep the wards safe from outside threats. The camaraderie amongst those closest to him, Orrin and Wesley, reminded me of some of my fellow Marines when we were out on field exercises.
The continued background provided for other major characters from the Grove like Rowena, Aisling, Bowen, Florian, Agrona, and Casimir, along with introductions of Enver and Rashid, filled out the cast with their own stories and twists within the larger narrative.
What I was most intrigued about was the hatching of the dragons. Most fantasy stories with dragons, they are already adult, fire-breathing, telepathic experts to both each other and their riders. Esmeray Sultan takes you back to the beginning. From getting them hatched, to watching them grow into a pack of siblings (and act like my mini pack of Schnauzers from time to time). Some real LOL moments with their bickering and crazy appetites. It was also good to read how they immediately knew who Aiya was and wanted to protect her.
Watching the dragons grow up added a dimension to the story that I was not prepared for and it was written so well.
Speaking directly about the villains now. Agrona and Casimir have deep rooted angst that is telling why they are the villains. Argona's story was spelled out in a heated battle between her and Aiya, but Casimir I am still trying to piece together.
Huge battle towards the end of the book that will keep you flipping pages to see how it will end. The last couple of pages reveal a new set of characters that I am interested in seeing how they will add to the story.
Anxiously awaiting the final chapter/book of The Druid and Dragon's Queen's saga.
Dawn of the dragon's daughter - This is the 2nd book in the series and it didn't disappoint. 4.5 STARS!!!
The continuation of Aiya and Dravens story where they have to work out how to hatch the dragons and waive off an even bigger threat that is coming.
The story starts quite slow in my opinion with Aiya on her own with the druids and Draven off working with the rangers. I did feel this went on a bit long before anything really starts happening but once it does I was all in.
I really enjoyed this more than the first as it delved more deeply into the history of the realms and you also saw Aiya grow stronger and become more of a warrior/saviour to not only herself but for those around her.
I loved how the dragons are now more prominent in the story and the love she has for them as if she was their mother.
There are a lot of twists and turns in this 2nd book too with some added characters - you won’t guess this at all I’m sure.
Be prepared though as there are some quite dark violent chapters to the book.
The world building in this book is amazing and it really brings the scenes alive into your mind.
With all the twists and turns in this book I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3 as I have a few ideas in my head but the cliff-hanger at the end of this 2nd book has me hoping that the 3rd book isn't too far away.
This series is turning out to be a very good fantasy series for anyone who like that genre and enjoys all things fantasy genre brings, including creative realms, found family, epic worldbuilding, magic systems, evil and maniacal enemies, a dash of romantasy and of course epic love, and don't forget the main drawcard for me, DRAGONS!!! plus lots of twists and turns along the way.
This was a 4.5 star read for me (would have been 5 if not for the slow lengthy start).
I received a Free ARC of this book and I am leaving an voluntary honest review.
This is the 2nd book in this series so reading any review MAY contain something spoilery for the first.
BE WARNED!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Okay, now that that is done. Here is my review!
The continuation of this series still has a tight grip on me and I am highly anticipating the next book!
The beginning felt a little slow and long with Aiya on her own with the Druids and Draven doing his ranger obligations. But once you make it through that, BUCKLE UP BUDDY.
I loved the exploration of not just Aiya and how things that have happened to her have shaped and changed her, but the exploration of other realms. I felt I had a better grasp on this whole world and I REALLY appreciate that.
My favorite thing happened while reading this book, scenes were playing in my head like a movie! And THAT is how I know the world building, character descriptions, and action scenes are written well!
Be warned though, there are some heavier scenes in this book that actually made me set the book down to take a breather which is why it took me longer than I expected to make it through the novel.
There were quite a few surprises that totally caught me off guard, which is great! I don’t always love being right about a book 😂. I also LOVE that our dragons are being included more in the story and development!!
This series I think is going to become big one day, at least I think it deserves that! Esmeray has done a wonderful building this world and making me fall in love with characters, but also shattering my heart with others.
the ONLY reason why it’s not a full 5 star is just because of the slow start and sometimes the beautiful writing paired with modern day curse language took me out of it just a bit.
The spice is a bit spicy (in my opinion), but I am not letting that affect my rating as I knew it would be in this book and would just skip it when needed.
This series is seriously growing as a favourite of mine and I am eagerly waiting for the continuation of The Druid and The Dragon Queen story!
Esmeray’s writing is one you can get lost in, her story telling, plot development as well as her character growth and explorations are spot on. I was full of twisting emotions from loving and cheering one moment to hating and just on the edge of my chair the next.
The world continues to capture my attention and just enthral me, the details and the description are so immersive I just want to be there. The characters are growing so much from the first book and I love how the author continues to let them develop but together and as individuals. Neither are perfect which is how I prefer to read a character, their flaws make them more real and relatable.
Aiya is fierce and powerful but still just a women yearning to do what’s best. Her trials to get the dragons to hatch, her dilemmas and failed attempts. To the succession, their slow growth and watching them develop their own characters but instantly have that bond to Aiya is so cute with some real funny sweet moments.
Draven seems like the white Knight we all crave but still has his own flaws and trials to over come. His sense of found family and camaraderie with his Rangers was sweet and refreshing to see.
The villains are clear and defiant, their stories slowly revealed expertly to us. The ending once again is face paced and had me reading quickly but also wanting to hesitate as I did not want it to end. There are new characters at the end that I need to know how they affect the future story line!
Once again, this is a story to add to your TBR as you will not be disappointed.
I enjoyed this book much more than the first. The story felt more confident overall, and the FMC was a standout improvement for me. She felt more mature, more self-aware, and much closer to her age, which made her growth and choices easier to connect with.
There was a lot packed into this book, and while I liked the pace, it sometimes felt like certain events and perspectives weren’t strictly necessary. For such a long book, I found myself wishing that some of that page space had gone toward deeper history and lore—especially surrounding the larger forces at play. We get some insight into Agrona, but I would have loved more context overall to better understand why everything is unfolding the way it is.
That said, this was a clear step up from book one. The characters felt stronger, the stakes higher, and the world more alive. Even with a few choices I didn’t fully love, I was engaged the entire time and finished the book feeling excited to see where the story goes next.
If you liked the first book, chances are you’ll enjoy this one even more.
(Potential spoilers: The dragons were easily my favorite part of the book. Their presence added so much intrigue and magic to the story, and I only wish we’d gotten even more time with them. They were fascinating, powerful, and felt central to what makes this world so compelling.)
Thank you, Esmeray Sultan and Bookfunnel, for the gifted eARC
ARC REVIEW. No spoilers here, you NEED to discover all the feels for yourself!
HOLY CRAP! I NEED book 3 NOW!
Coming off of Book 1- A Wlidfire in the Grove, expectations were high going into Book 2 and I was not disappointed. Heartbreak that can be felt while reading is real and the tears I shed whilst reading and still do when thinking about those moments just, well it just... Esmeray Sultan has created a series that invades your mind, with characters you relate to and truly care about. The way you are pulled into the lives of these characters, the emotions that are drawn out and just laid bare, WOW! I literally could not stop reading this beautifully written book, I think I only slept for 4ish hours since starting it because I needed to know what happened next. I don't know if I can ever get past some of the heartbreaks, fears, signs of truth, love and the building of friendships that are more akin to family. I would say I will try, but this book mimics real life in so many ways that it may not be possible.
Please do yourself a favour, get a box of tissues, some snackies and immerse yourself in the wonderful world that I can not wait to be brought back to (hopefully soon)!
I was obsessed with this from the moment I picked it up. I kept reading whenever I got a chance and hated having to stop. I felt straight back in this world and completely wrapped up in Aiya and Draven’s story again.
This book put me through it emotionally. I laughed, felt anxious, got excited, and had moments where my heart genuinely hurt. I felt everything right along with the characters, like I was there experiencing it all with them. The relationships are so well done and the emotional connection is what really makes this story hit.
The world building is incredible without feeling heavy or confusing. Everything is easy to picture and just keeps expanding in such a natural way. I usually spot twists coming a mile away, but this book actually surprised me more than once and that almost never happens for me. I was left sitting there like… what just happened.
By the end, I was desperate for the next book. This story keeps getting darker, deeper, and more intense, and I am fully invested in where it’s going. If you love emotional fantasy, strong characters, magic, and dragons, this series is such a win for me and I cannot wait to continue!!
The Dawn of the Dragon’s Daughter is a strong sequel to Wildfire in the Grove. The story follows Aiya as she adapts to life with Draven in the Grove, navigates the chaos that erupts when magic returns, and witnesses the long-awaited hatching of the dragon eggs, all while the threat of Agrona continues to loom.
The first half of the book did drag a little, and at times there felt to be too much unnecessary detail. The timeline also jumps around occasionally. That said, the appearance of the dragons made it all worthwhile. I particularly enjoyed getting to know the secondary characters better, and the story delivers plenty of plot twists alongside many emotional moments.
The Dawn of the Dragon’s Daughter is a little like moonshine or mampoer: slightly rough around the edges, but capable of making you forget the real world for a while and leaving you with a serious book hangover.
After the action-packed ending and the cliffhanger, I can’t wait for the third book in the series.
Thank you to Esmeray Sultan and Sultan Publications for the ARC.
I read book 2 of the druid and dragon queen series as an arc reader and I was definitely not disappointed. aiya and her husband are so in tune with each other and his undying affection is something that makes you love draven as a strong mmc, he loves her fiery passion and expects her to just thrive and be who she wants to be which I love about this book. it has incredible world building the places, the magic and dragons were all described so well and i could visualize the monsters and places it made this book an enjoyable read for me i love getting lost in a book where you feel like you are there . the characters and secondary characters all have a space and fit perfectly within each other as a family great banter and support with each other makes you get up close with who they are, definitely some spice as well 🥵 which I thought was the perfect amount for this book as the plot holds its own. I definitely will be keeping my eye out for book three to see how aiya and draven will continue with their story x

I was really looking forward to “The Dawn of the Dragon’s Daughter” after how much Book 1 stayed with me, and this next instalment was a solid continuation. It picks up where we left off and continues to explore the fantasy elements with expanded magic, deeper lore, and a stronger sense of the ancient forces at work in the world. The worldbuilding continues to be one of the biggest strengths of the series and was easy to get immersed in.
The pacing felt more balanced this time, with a good mix of action and quieter character moments. I especially enjoyed learning more about the druid magic and the mythology. Aiya remains a strong and engaging FMC, and I appreciated the added depth we get from Draven as well.
While there were a couple of slower spots, the story kept me invested. This was an enjoyable sequel that expands the world nicely, and I’d definitely recommend it to fans of the first book and fantasy lovers. I’m excited to see where the author takes us next.
I had a chance to ARC the book, this is 100% my review and I loved this story.
I can't even with this book. It was engaging and sucked me into Draven and Aiya's world again. I was so excited the in the beginning for their story, then was heartbroken, hearr was patched and repaird, and at the end my heart shattered and was ripped to pieces. The biggest struggle I had with the book, was trying to remember who was who. It took 5 or so chapters for me to get my barrings straight. If you havent read book 1 yet, then perfect no need to worry. If its been a minute I would recommend a re-read. While book 1 was a lot of world building and getting a feeling for the characters, book 2 is the story being told. I am so excited I got to ARC for this author again and I can't wait to see how the story continues.
I was just as obsessed with this book as I was reading the first. I typically read on my lunch break at work and I hated having to stop reading.
The relationships between characters, world building, just the whole book was phenomenal! I felt like I was fully immersed in their world and there with the characters experiencing everything with them. I was sent on a roller coaster of emotions along with them and found myself laughing, crying, and getting excited with them.
When I'm reading, I can typically spot a plot twist from a mile away. However, this book had a couple that completely blindsided me and I was left with my jaw literally hanging. This is extremely rare for me and I'm very impressed.
This book is everything I’ve ever dreamed of in epic fantasy: lush worldbuilding that transports you, dragons that feel ancient and mighty, and a heroine who is both fiercely determined and heartbreakingly human. Watching her step into her strength—while wrestling with legacy, identity, and destiny—was an emotional journey that truly touched me.
The writing is immersive without ever feeling overwhelming, and the pacing kept me completely hooked from start to finish. Every twist raised the stakes, and the emotional moments hit just as deeply as the thrilling action scenes. It’s that incredible balance between breathtaking spectacle and raw vulnerability that truly made this story resonate with me.
*ARC Review* This was an easy 5 stars for me! Lots more world building in this one so the pacing in the first half was slower but with a huge payoff. There were so many unexpected twists and the second half of the book I could not put it down. This author actually knows how to surprise me. There are parts that are very dark but beautifully written. The relationship between the MCs is easy and not overly intense like most romantasy. This book is also a love letter to Daenerys Targaryen and horses, which I can appreciate as a GoT fan and former horse girl. The Druid culture and magic is more fleshed out from book 1 and it’s different from anything else I’ve read. I’m dying for book 3!
AMAZING BOOK! Its right up there with fourth wing. If this series isn't a best seller within a few years ill be shocked!
This book was better than the first. But they are both amazing! There was so much character growth for multiple people. The dragons!! Don't even get me started on the dragons! I loved them! I love the love story between the 2 main characters. The spicy scenes were so hot! The dramatic scenes broke my heart but the characters helped put my heart back together again. The book had tons of plot twists that made me say "oh SH!t" out loud and made people around me, look at me funny. I CANNOT wait for book 3. Its going to take waaayyy too long.
Just like how I loved the first book, I very much loved this next installment! I dragged out reading it, not wanting it to end! I feel like it took me on a roller-coaster of emotions. I loved Draven and Aiya's relationship in this story. I loved the world building. I enjoyed getting more of Draven's story. I'll definitely be re-reading book 1 and book 2, it'll be interesting to re-read and see if there are any hints to anything I could've missed in my first read, I can't wait to find out what'll happen next! I'd definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy stories that also involve dragons!
A bit like Merlin (BBC version). Loved all the druid language lines and the plot was action packed and captivating.
This is book 2 and I have not read book one. There were things mentioned that obviously happened in book 1 but it was not to the point I was lost. (I will be going back and reading book 1 shortly).
Was a fun read and anyone who loves a good epic Fantasy I highly recommend checking this series out!
Writing has improved from the last book, but still room for growth. I love the idea the author has come up with, but this book felt like it was either moving at a snails pace or everything was happening all at once and it's like a whiplash of wtf just happened. Its VERY hard to tell which character is speaking/in the convo as they don't give off unique personalities. Compared to the last book Aiya is a completely different character. She still isn't giving almost 30 year old maturity by any means.
I loved this book! It felt real.. I really liked the fact that for once our main characters have to work for their food and clothes. The interactions between characters felt real, the day to day life too! I'm sad about the horse... devastated actually:((. Thank you for the ARC ! Can't wait for the next book!

Aiya is settling into life among the druids, frequently alone because Draven is out protecting the village. I loved when the dragon eggs finally hatched! Aiya had an immediate change to her personality, like a mother would to protect her children. The action was non stop. The story is an epic adventure.
Thank you for the early copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.
The second novel in the druid and the dragon queen series is full of twist and turns to keep you on your feet. Esmeray really captures the scene and emotions of each setting and character. The relationship between the fmc and mmc really blossoms as the story progressed. Over all I can not wait to see what this series leads.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The story and world expanded so much from the first to second book with twists and turns i was NOT expecting at all. I'm super invested in all the characters and NEED to know what happens next.
It is truly a world you can escape into. Can't give it high enough praise! You'll just have to read it for yourself!
The twists in this one! The characters?! Did it live up to the first? Oh my goodness, yes. I am certainly looking forward to the next book. Certainly glad I signed up for the ARC of this one. Super grateful to have this one apart of my digital library. This one lingers with you in regards to pacing. I felt in the moment, not hurried or dragged, but present in the novel.
*ARC review* thank you Esmeray Sultan for the opportunity to read the continuation of Aiya and Draven’s story. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow as well getting to know the other characters a little better. Lots of twists. Saw I some coming, others were quite a surprise! This does end on a bit of a cliffhanger so I’m looking forward to book three.
What a wild ride! I absolutely adored book one and book two delivered! I love the romance and the way the characters feel so real and tangible, their struggles I can relate to! Rama Ray does an amazing job of crafting a movie inside her world as you read and if this is on your TBR, it needs to be moved up to currently reading!
This book has amazing and immersive world building, with well rounded characters, high drama, and all the feelings. The dragons are awesome. The relationships between all the characters are deep and complex. I’m walking away from the book deeply in love with Florian, excited for the next installment, and with a desire to learn embroidery.
I absolutely loved book one but book two? I’m not going to lie it took me a while to get into. I think it was because I’ve only been reading fantasy and when I started this book I was burned to max on fantasy that I found myself taking a few days to unwind and read other books. Once I did that this book held my attention without any issues.
This book has all the tropes if you love; dragons, fated mates, royalty, magic, villains, friends that are family, and so many more to list. This book picked up right where book one Wildfire in the Grove left off on its cliffhanger, and wasn’t confusing like most authors make it when you pick up the next book and your trying to figure out what’s going on because you didn’t do a reread.
Overall this book was well written. The characters growth in this book was phenomenal and better written in this one verses book one. Each character seemed stronger and more outspoken then book one. Then the way she wrote about the dragons hatching you could just picture yourself being there and watching it happen in real time and that’s what I look for in fantasy books being pulled into another world/life to escape reality.
