He’s her professor. She’s the one variable he can’t control. Dr. Callum Hawthorne doesn’t do reckless. Not anymore. After walking away from a powerful English family and leaving a scandal buried an ocean away, he’s rebuilt his life—quietly, carefully—behind the lectern of a small Texas college. Everything is predictable. Contained. Safe.
Until Gabrielle Clark walks into his lecture hall.
She’s sharp. She’s relentless. She’s off-limits. And she makes him forget every damn rule he’s sworn to follow.
What starts as a spark becomes a fire neither of them can contain. The more they try to play it cool, the hotter it burns. But secrets have mass. Consequences have gravity. And when their relationship detonates, it won’t just cost them their reputations. If they’re found out, he’ll lose his job. She’ll lose her scholarship. And the fallout won’t stop there. Cal’s past isn’t dead. It’s just buried. And secrets don’t stay buried forever.
Passion has a boiling point. And they’re about to hit it.
OMG, Nadine—you are raising the bar waaay too high. I am fixated on this feeling: home amidst turmoil, loving someone with all your heart and soul that they're your safe haven. This book gave us that. No unnecessary misconceptions. No frustrating lack of communication. No fluff. Just raw emotion, honesty, and love that's real.
I was hooked from the start in this book. Five stars from page one—no doubt about it. I did not skip, did not stop, and was not distracted (which is a big deal for me since I have the attention span of a goldfish). I was captivated with the story completely and had no urge to leave.
“I see you—who you are, not what you are. And I love you, no matter what wrapping you come in.”
This was my undoing
What I really loved was the teacher-student relationship. Finally, this trope in a non creepy way, with no grooming in the air. It's so rare to see that relationship done right, and I was here for it. The author nailed the emotional depth without crossing any lines.
An enjoyable, emotional read. If you're into raw, heartfelt romance, this is a must!
Thank you to Grey's Promotion for an ARC of this book.
This taboo, age gap, spicy romance pulled me in from the very beginning and never let go. The connection between Cal and Gabrielle is instant, intense, and beautifully written. You feel it in every interaction.
Cal is the definition of irresistible: a sweet, intelligent, and caring English professor with a quiet heat that makes every scene crackle. Gabrielle is just as strong, smart, kind, and emotionally grounded, yet vulnerable in a way that feels so real. Their characters are so well done that I understood both of them completely, which made every choice, risk, and moment hit harder.
The chemistry? Absolute chef’s kiss. The romance is intoxicating, the spice is perfectly placed, and the emotional depth adds a layer that makes this story both beautiful and, at times, heartbreaking. This book pulls you into its world and asks you not to look back—and trust me, you won’t want to!
This is a MUST READ for lovers of spicy, emotional, taboo romance!
It is so refreshing to read a student/teacher trope that is in balance. Both Gabrielle and Callum come with their own issues and trauma, but with that comes the maturity and understanding needed to be real. It also helps that she started school a little older and wasn't a young doe eyed virgin.
Their relationship is fresh, intense and brilliant. Everything I could have hoped for!
Huge shoutout to Nadine Theiss and Greys Promotions for the gifted eARC in exchange for my honest review. I’m giving boiling point 5 stars as it honestly was such a favorite forbidden romance to read.
Boiling point follows the lives of Dr. Callum Hawthorne who is an English Physics Professor at Page College and Gabrielle Clark who so happens to be a student of his. Callum is everything you want in a professor. Smart, reliable, wants the best for his students and also doesn’t appreciate any student trying to get their way all because of who their father is. Gabrielle isn’t your typical college student as she is actually 25 years old and has a good head on her shoulders as she is doing everything in her power to do well in college so she could follow her dreams after she spent time taking care of her sick father earlier on in life. When they meet for the first time in Callum’s physics class, the chemistry between them is there pretty quickly as they both become curious about one another but in the most respectful way possible.
Nadine Theiss made a professor/student forbidden romance that quickly became a favorite of mine. The forbidden romance wasn’t just pure lust and was actually a beautiful slow burn that eventually lead to the point of no return…the boiling point if you will! Callum and Gabrielle’s past lives haven’t been easy at all so seeing these two adults find comfort and eventually love in one another was such a beautiful journey to witness. Even though they knew the risks that could come to what they were doing, they both still wanted to be all in as they felt like they were truly meant for each other. Seeing how comfortable they both became with one another truly melted my heart and had me cheering for their relationship during the duration of the entire story.
If you are looking for a story with characters that feel relatable to the point where they feel real..this is one that you will want to check out. I promise you won’t regret exploring Callum and Gabrielle’s story.
this book was genius artistry because I’m a science girl, even if physics isn’t my favourite, but after reading this I’m seriously considering changing my mind on that. Because Callum has officially convinced me that physics is the sexiest science, heck maybe even the sexiest school subject. This book was a masterpiece, although I do admit, the whole posh British thing came out of nowhere. A student x teacher taboo relationship, something I told myself I would never read but this book once again proved why I keep reading it now. It was amazing, so much tension but so sweet and very emotional. Even though it’s about a student falling in love with her physics prof, there’s so much in it. They’re both kind of lost, she lost her father and only has her aunt who lives far away left, and he hates his posh British Duke father and his family. But they both help each other heal from their emotional scars and the character development really was so special. Both characters were amazing, they had insane chemistry and complimented each other so well. I found it so funny how she’s an aerospace engineer but he’s afraid of planes, and he loves motorbikes but she thinks they’re death traps. I had such a fun time laughing my way through this book. And all the physics references had me cracking up. The plot was amazing, I loved all the plot twists although some were quite expected. Overall, This book was a masterpiece, that played my heart like a fiddle. I give it a 5/5
This book is the first one I've read written by Nadine Theiss and I was very hooked by it. This book is about Callum, a professor and Gabrielle, his student, and altough this kind of forbidden love trope (professor/student) is not my favorite one, this book is so well written, without those (sometimes annoying) misunderstanding. The attraction between them could have begun as something more intelectual but that turn to lust and passion. The forbidden part of their attraction was well delivered and the evolution and how they can't avoid the passion between them is exquisite.
Tropes you can find in this book: - Forbidden love - Proffesor/student romance - Slow Burn - Age gap (38/25, not 18 yeah!!!) - He falls first - STEM - no 3rd act break-up - small town romance - Grumpy/sunshine This book is an open-door one, with steamy scenes that came after the slow burn tension and build up. They are great!🥵
My ratings: 4,25/5⭐ 2/5🌶️
I’ve received this book as an ARC and I’d like to thank the author, Nadien Theiss and her team at Grey’s Promotion for letting me read this book in advance and allow me to give my honest opinion.
This is Callum and Gabrielle’s story, Callum walked away from his family and scandal in England and relocated for a quiet life in a small-town college in Texas, where he is a professor, and is determined to stick to the rules, until Gabrielle walks into his lecture, and the sparks fly, and boundaries are tested. This is a well written slow burn, easy to read story, with family, friendships, emotions, tension, teacher / student, forbidden romance, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, secrets, taking chances, humour, witty banter, consequences, revelations, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, small-town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Verboten!!! I kept saying stupid stupid stupid under my breath as I read because I had a pit of despair in my stomach. I knew what Cal and Gabrielle were playing with fire and no matter how much they disguises the smoke, they were going to be discovered. I even figured out who snitched on them. I also knew the bitchy girls would circle like the cowardly predators they were. I did skip all the math and physics talk because that made my eyes roll back in my head but it just got me to the good scenes that much faster. I was all in with the Professor with the British accent and who rode a motorcycle!! And his perfect match who flies a plane!! I’m in academics and I wish all situations like these turned out as well as theirs did but I did struggle with the ethics of it. However if I’d ever had a British speaking college professor who taught physics I probably would have taken it just to happily fail it to moon over him. Thanks Greys Promotion for the early read.
This was my first book by this author and I am now going to have to read their entire back catalog. I loved Callum and Gabrielle. I’m a huge fan of forbidden age gaps in the first place, but I loved their story! At first I was hesitant because of how fast their relationship bloomed and how fast they fell, but there was still so much that kept me coming back for more. There was the right amount of drama and relationship building that it wasn’t predictable or boring! Definitely a great story!
This story had me hooked from the very first spark between them. He’s her professor, she’s his student — and though both know it’s wrong, the connection they share is impossible to ignore. I loved that she’s not your typical college student — at 25, she brings maturity and life experience that make their dynamic even more compelling.
They try to resist, to stay on the right side of the line, but once she takes him up in the air (that scene!!), the trust and chemistry between them just soar. The tension, the slow burn, the sheer heat — they could melt ice with the way they look at each other.
And the ending? Absolutely perfect. The kind that makes you sigh, smile, and immediately want to reread.
If you love forbidden romance, age gap tension, and a love story that feels both passionate and earned — this one’s for you.
Boiling point by Nadine Theiss Releases October 21st
I am so thankful to have received an ARC of this book! I loved that this isn’t the typical professor/student trope like most authors write. The FMC is a 25 year old woman who has already experienced the loss and tragedy that most don’t experience until later in life. I loved the relationship between our FMC Gabrielle and our MMC Dr. Hawthorne (Cal). Gabrielle is an absolute badass. She is smart, compassionate and also has her pilot license. Cal starts out kind of grumpy but quickly becomes a teddy bear for Gabrielle. He has his own past trauma and family issues. I’m not going to go into detail because I don’t want to spoil anything. I honestly loved that this book was to the point and didn’t go back and forth like most do in this trope. This was a 5 star read for me! Definitely recommend if you want a to-the-point, kinda forbidden romance. Love, love, love!
Slow burn. But fast paced romance. With the suspense of getting caught. Kept me on my toes trying to read it to see what happens between Gabrielle and Cal. If they make it work. Or let the hardships get in the way. Love it!!
Professor Callum Hawthorne is a physics professor who runs his classes with a serious manner, by the rules. Then Gabrielle walks into his classroom and turns his world upside down. They form a friendship and try to keep it from becoming more, but the heart wants what it wants...
Gabrielle isn't like a typical college student. Not only is she older (25), having been taking care of her father while others were in college, but she's so much more mature and focused than the average student. She didn't start Callum's class thinking he'd end up being anything more than her professor. But a friendship backed with mutual intelligence is formed, and their explosive chemistry cannot be denied.
I do so love me a hot, forbidden professor/student romance, so I came into this expecting the same. And I did end up loving it, but because it's quite out of the box, rather than the normal forbidden deliciousness of anything professor/student. Gabrielle is older and more mature, so on more of an equal field with Callum, and they start with a fast, solid friendship. Of course there's no way they would be able to stay just friends, so a fallout was inevitable, but handled with grace. And that's what I love so much about this couple - they aren't just a hot, forbidden couple, their mutual intelligence, both emotional and academic allows them grace combined with sizzling chemistry, and a deep connection. This is the first read by this author for me, but after having read and fallen in love with Gabrielle and her professor Callum, I'm on the lookout for all her future releases.
ARC provided by Grey's Promotions for an honest review.
Boiling Point was truly hard to put down! Just my second book from Nadine Theiss and more than ever, I'm enamored with her writing style. The story progresses at a good rate as we meet Dr. Callum Hawthorne and Gabrielle Clark, their professor/student relationship going from cordial to electric almost immediately. I could sense the chemistry right from the start as both brilliant minds seemed to have found their match, both academically and emotionally. And in a matter of weeks, this forbidden connection is hard to resist, even as serious consequences could threaten each of their futures.
I really loved these two together. How Cal and Gabrielle truly 'got' one another, each with big brains that were always clamoring to learn more both about the life around them and each other. Their attraction may have started off as simply appreciating what the other offered intellectually, but then it's soon after Cal rescues Gabrielle when her car won't start, that the line they don't want to cross is the one they seem to be determined to erase. And when they go over that line for good, the passion shared forever alters them both.
What I appreciated was that Theiss has Gabrielle as a 25 year old and not some 18 year old ingenue who would be seemingly taken advantage of by her professor. Although this still doesn't bode well for Cal getting tenure since he does break the fraternization rule set up by his employer, Pace College, it made more sense that this 38 year old would have an intense attraction to a more mature young woman. Especially since Gabrielle took a sabbatical right after high school to tend to her ailing father. That time in her life clearly made her grow up fast and helped her to handle the fallout should she and Cal be found out.
I have to be honest that I was dreading when that proverbial shoe would drop, especially with a spoiled classmate of Gabrielle's having it out for Cal almost weekly since she couldn't get her way with him no matter what she threatened. I mean, I knew something had to happen to reveal their clandestine relationship. I just didn't expect who finally set the course for disciplinary action in Cal's path. But I do like how Gabrielle stood by her man and handled this interloper in her own way.
I'm a huge fan of the forbidden professor/student trope and Nadine Theiss did a wonderful job in portraying it in a real manner, with a couple who have their own crosses to bear separately and the biggest obstacle of all for both of them was simply being together. But the pace is perfect. And the time it takes for Gabrielle and Cal to fully love one another like no one else before them felt right. Neither wanted to rush into anything but as others in the story have remarked, "when you know, you know." They couldn't resist the pull. They didn't care what others might think, with even Cal's stodgy British family ways not a deterent. In fact, his accent, his charm and his dry wit when it came to teaching Gabrielle the proper way to make tea, only endeared him more to both his love and to this reader. And for Gabrielle, the fact that she could pilot a plane had me in huge awe of how she was able to accomplish anything she set her mind to. Cal clearly being her pinnacle.
When looking for a steamy, smart and wickedly addicting kind of love story, pick up Boiling Point. I'm confident you'll find a new author that will undoubtedly keep you riveted, one page at a time.
This book! Genuinely lovely, a beautiful, heartfelt romance with the best tension and emotional depth. Let me just say the romance and the yearning in this book was TOP TIER. This was written so beautifully, so refreshing, and is one of my favorite books of the year!
Gabrielle, aka Ms. Clark, is a bright college student hoping to achieve her goals and fulfill her legacy at Page College, the same college her late father attended. After taking care of her ailing dad, she’s ready to go after her career and dreams. Being a little older at 25, Gabrielle knows what she wants in her future, and while she enjoys flying planes and studying hard, she also isn’t afraid to take risks or face difficult situations - her first semester is full of physics, calculus, and psychology. But her course load isn’t the only risk she’s willing to take as she begins her first semester…
Dr. Hawthorne, aka Cal, is a professor now teaching physics at Page College. Originally from England, he comes from wealth, studied at Oxford, and knows how to make a proper cup of tea. He’s by the book, refined, and sometimes a little unsettling. At the age of 38, he’s a little younger than other professors, but absolutely brilliant. He’s disciplined and very professional, until Ms, Clark makes her way into his office during office hours. While their interaction is strictly educational and professional, there is a noticeable draw and chemistry between Callum and Gabrielle.
After an unlikely run-in with each other during a storm, Cal gives Gabrielle a ride home after her car battery died. An innocent invitation to evade the rain led to shared moments and a cup of tea. More time passes and a friendship begins to blossom into more. They know the risks, they know a relationship would be forbidden, but what happens when the pull to another is undeniable?
GOSH I LOVE THIS BOOK! Finally a student and teacher trope that doesn’t make me feel uneasy, and has a female who is older with a respectable and kind man. While boundaries are crossed in light of the university, this is done so well and I absolutely loved it! While the relationship is explored, I also very much enjoyed the depth and background we learn from our main characters and who doesn’t love a forbidden romance. They both have so much to bring into a relationship and with each other, and it was such a joy seeing their own experiences build into their relationship. I love how Callum and Gabrielle brought strength to one another and truly were so much stronger together than apart.
“Words eluded me. Here was a woman who could remake the world in her image, sweeping away the gray with every self-assured stride. I stood in awe, the chill of the afternoon forgotten as my heart drummed a desperate improvisation.”
“He looked at me like I was sacred. Not fragile—never that—but important. Desired. Revered.”
Boiling Point did so well at exploring love, heartbreak, expectations, familial relationships, and so much more. An absolute must read!
Not only did Boiling Point have a teacher/student trope, it also features: small town, college setting, slow burn, he has an accent! Happy reading!
When the author said Boiling Point is not a predatory professor–student romance, she meant it and I truly understand that now. Gabrielle, the FMC, is 25, which I appreciated immensely. While the relationship is forbidden due to their roles, it quickly becomes clear that Gabrielle is practically Cal’s equal. She’s intelligent, capable, and deeply knowledgeable in her field, and that balance makes all the difference.
There’s something about the way Nadine Theiss writes her FMCs that I genuinely admire. In so many romances, the focus is overwhelmingly on the hot MMC (and yes, Cal absolutely qualifies), but Nadine’s heroines are magnificent in their own right. Gabrielle is intelligent, independent, and fierce as she brings just as much to the table, if not more. And I love that.
This book has great spice but the plot is just as strong. I actually felt like I learned something reading this, which is rare in trope-driven romance. Nadine went to impressive lengths to make the academic side believable. So often we see “professor x student” or “athlete x coach’s daughter” used purely as marketing tropes, with little to no accuracy. Not here. You’ll walk away with a genuine understanding—or at least a heightened interest—in physics and engineering. It was honestly nostalgic for me, reminding me of my own college experience. Though I didn’t major in either. She still did great at showing the college experience for those who go later in life which is admirable.
I also loved how completely down bad Cal was for Gabrielle. That devotion is something I eat up with a spoon. And as someone who’s spent a lot of time in Texas (Louisiana is my home state), the setting felt especially familiar and warm to me.
Both Cal & Gabrielle have lost their fathers and as someone who also lost their father, I could resonate with them so deeply.
Nadine Theiss is an auto-buy author for me. She’s a kind human and a wonderful storyteller, and I’m so happy to have this book alongside her others on my shelf. Her stories always seem to meet me exactly where I am in life and I needed this book, especially after reading a few highly triggering, not-so-great books. Boiling Point felt grounding for me.
I’m a sucker for professor romances. I loved Gothikana, Nocticadia, Neverborn, and Miller’s Girl so when I say I know this trope, I truly do. And this one stands out possibly above the others I’ve reviewed. The banter is fantastic, the characters feel real, and the balance between romance, intellect, and emotion is beautifully done.
My only complaint? I can’t rate it higher than five stars on Goodreads.
You think you know what type of book your getting classis age gap forbidden romance college professor Young shy student or flirty college girl but it's not that at all first off Callum is 38 British and by the book Physcis Professor and Gabrielle is 25 having started college late after caring for her ailing father until his passing and really doesn't have much family left but she still has her goal of becoming a aeronautics engineer she's smart and dosen't go looking for problems and falling for her professor well that could cost her everything but they don't fall instantly it's more a friendship first then a seduction of the mind whitch leads to more need more hunger more passion and danger of being exposed. Callum has already had his fare share of scandle back in England as the son of a Duke well thats his story to tell so he definitely wasn't looking for trouble but it's not just physical with them intellectual there on the same page he's a little more daring then her he drives a motorcycle but fears crashing to his death in a plan and the math statistics for that well they can quote them Gabrielle thinks bikes are a death trap and a intant trip to the ER or worse but they gell there good together but there's always going to be some hatter that wants to bring ruin to them from mean spirited jealous girls to interfering family and that rule about frateranization well they broke it so what happens next you just have to read the book to find out. This is a first time read by the author for me and I would definitely read another book even though there was some math stuff in this book it wasn't so much intellectual stuff that my brain fell asleep it was actually interesting and I guess if I had a hot British guy teaching me physics it might be more interesting then watching paint dry so go sexy smart professor. I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via GreysPromotion and this is my honest review.
This was my first Nadine Theiss book and wow, what an introduction. Boiling Point is the kind of forbidden romance that doesn’t just sizzle; it melts the page.
Dr. Callum Hawthorne is the definition of composed: an English physics professor who’s built a quiet, predictable life far away from his past. Then Gabrielle Clark walks into his lecture hall, and suddenly, control isn’t so easy to calculate.
Gabrielle isn’t your typical college student: she’s 25, fiercely independent, and fighting for everything she has. The moment she and Cal cross paths, the chemistry is undeniable, but Theiss handles their connection with such emotional depth and integrity that it never once feels cheap or sleazy. Instead, it’s a story of two people finding understanding and solace in each other, even when every rule says they shouldn’t.
Their love story is raw, thoughtful, and breathtakingly human. The tension builds like a slow burn, until it inevitably hits its boiling point (and trust me, it’s worth every page of anticipation).
Nadine Theiss writes with precision and heart. Her characters are flawed but achingly real, and the emotional stakes are as strong as the physical ones. By the end, I was completely hooked and already checking her backlist.
If you love age-gap romance, forbidden attraction, and stories that balance heat with genuine emotion, this book belongs on your fall TBR.
💋 Boiling Point releases October 21st, and I have no doubt it’s going to make waves.
Thank you to Grey’s Promotion for the e-ARC and congratulations Nadine on this amazing book.
I’m not gonna lie, yall, I was nervous about Boiling Point because the age gap and teacher/student combo can be a minefield for authors. But I was so pleasantly surprised and can’t wait to share my thoughts!
What worked for me: Nadine was intentional in the way that she developed her characters, specifically Gabby. Long before she and Callum began a relationship, her independence and self-reliance were well-established. She has feelings for him because of a genuine interest in him as a person, not because of a naive girl fresh out of high school who is mesmerized by his sophistication and authority over her. I was also impressed by the fact that both Callum and Gabby are aware of how risky their relationship is and also that they choose to move forward and prioritize their happiness. And the family drama on both sides? Juicy and so realistic! (Looking at you, AUNT SUZY 🤬)
What didn’t work for me: I wish that the strain between Callum and his family would have played a stronger role in the book at an earlier point. It just seemed to me that it came on rather suddenly.
There is a significant amount of spice in this book, and I feel like it shouldn’t be skipped because it emphasizes the fact that Gabby and Callum are both mature adults and not taking advantage of one another. We also love to see representation of safe spice! 👏🏻
I received a copy of this book from the author and her publishing company.
FORBIDDEN YET SEXY ROMANCE TO KEEP YOU HOOKED AND MAKE YOU FEEL TINGLE!!
Boiling Point is a forbidden romance between Teacher and his student, Callum and Gabrielle and this book is so good, so sexy, the chemistry and the sexual chemistry between them is so sensual. Callum is a physics teacher and the way he talks and explain physics concept is very alluring and since physics is my favorite subject, I was very hooked the way physics concepts are used throughout the story, I was hooked from the start from Capacitor up to the end. Callum is so sexy and the way he cares for Gabrielle is very tempting. On top of everything, he has British accent which is so sexy to imagine when you imagine Callum's character in our head I love Gabrielle so much, she is so talented and so straightforward, which is rare qualities I see in FMC's when I read book, I love daring and bold female characters, who are aware of what they want and with that they are not shy about it and I felt that Gabrielle resembles with such character. I love the balance between them and even though it is Teacher-student love story, both are consenting adult with Gabrielle being 25-year-old and Callum being 38-year-old. Overall, I was hooked and was hooked till the end, and I love how their tastes are polar opposite, but they are heavily attracted towards each other.
Boiling Point was a really intriguing read. A professor falling in love with a student, risking his career for love. It might feel like an overused theme, especially in spicy romance, but in this case I liked how the relationship was treated: no risky behavior, no outright defiance of the rules—just two people falling in love at the wrong time.
I also loved the writing style, rich in descriptions of places and feelings that make the setting come alive. It felt like being right there with Gabrielle and Cal during their talks, part of their story.
What left me a bit perplexed was the forbidden part of the romance. It didn’t really come into play until almost the end of the story, which I didn’t expect but appreciated nonetheless. There’s also a bit of family drama along the way, giving some background to characters that would otherwise feel isolated. There were no friends to confide in, no real exposure to the outside world, which made the story feel intimate but a bit closed off.
It’s definitely not a slow burn, but the spice isn’t the focus either—it’s a way to deepen the emotional connection between the characters. Overall, Boiling Point is a well-written, introspective romance that explores love, timing, and the fine line between right and wrong—with just enough spice to keep things interesting.
I’m going to start my review first with the writing of the author. SPECTACULAR! Wow the words come to life off the pages. Ms. Theiss’ style is poetic and magical. The book deserves five golden stars for that alone. So not only did this author do an outstanding job with the writing. But she also delivers a beautiful love story. One where I could actually feel the emotions of the main characters. I really enjoy teacher/student stories. But Boiling Point is on a whole other level. The professor, Callum Hawthorne, isn’t blackmailing, threatening or creepy. Gabrielle Clark isn’t a ditzy, barely passing student. She’s twenty-five, you will understand why she is still in university when you read the book. She’s focused and confident and intelligent. Cal doesn’t need Gabrielle to stroke his ego. And she doesn’t need him to pass his class. It’s a true love story based on actual raw emotions and feelings. I was so invested in these two. So worried about. So hopeful that everything would work out. When I wasn’t reading their story I was thinking about them. This is a beautiful story I’d read again and again. This is the second book I’ve read by Ms. Theiss. So far both have been five star reads. She is mostly definitely on my book radar now.
I love a good student/teacher romance & this one was chefs kiss! The whole storyline had me hooked & don’t get me started on the characters because I was a goner when it came to Callum charm. I loved that the age gap wasn’t too crazy but it was just enough. Gabrielle held herself so much more mature than her classmates but that was also due to her age & what she had been through in the past years. She never gave off any vibes of being too young for Cal & actually fit him perfectly. I giggled throughout & learned so much I never knew about physics, but if I had a hot professor like Cal teaching maybe I would be more interested in school. When it came down to them visiting his home state I was a bit on edge, but it went as well as one would hope given the situation. I seriously enjoyed getting wrapped up in this story, I couldn’t put it down. They were devoted to each other from the start & connected on levels that only brought them so much closer. Cal most definitely treats his woman like the queen she is, but don’t worry she will defend his honor when needed. I really didn’t want their story to end, these are characters that I will never forget especially when it comes to making a cup of tea.
A forbidden, student/teacher romance from Nadine Theiss as Professor Callum Hawthorne falls for his student Gabrielle Clark in Boiling Point. But why is the Englishman at a small Texas college? What made him leave his home and life an ocean away? What secrets does he have in his past? Whatever they are, they’re about to catch up with him.
This is only the third novel from this author but there is a strength and depth to their writing that would have you believe otherwise. Their stories draw you right in from the opening pages and make you care what happens to her characters. Callum and Gabrielle were such well-rounded characters, yes there was an age gap and perhaps I’d have felt differently about this book if she had been an eighteen-year-old but Gabrielle was a mature student of twenty-five while Callum was in his late thirties so there was never any sense of him abusing his position of authority over her. What there was, was a sense of a genuine connection between them that they both tried to ignore knowing the possible consequences, but passion overcame them making this book a wonderful blend of genuine heart and emotion between two consenting adults.
Ive taken a few days to let this sink in and I still can’t articulate the words. This is unlike any book I’ve ever read. The story structure of the book was so different to what I usually read and it just worked so well. I am not an instalove type gal and when I started reading this book I was unsure and by the time I got half way I was unsure of where this book could go.
As a whole I really enjoyed the story and how topics were addressed and focused on. I very much enjoyed the fact that Gabrielle was an older student and the professor x student trope wasn’t borderline creepy like it usually is. Very much love everything being consensual as it should be.
I loved watching Cal and Gab’s love story unfold and watch their characters grow and be so healthy, oh my goodness it was a breath of fresh air. It was very quick and a whirlwind romance and I wish there was a little more substance to it; a little more push back, more ups and downs but overall I enjoyed it.
I definitely recommend this book, it’s definitely the best and healthiest professor x student book I’ve ever read and I’m stoked about it
Thank you Grey's Promotions and Nadiene Theiss for this beautiful arc. I am not a huge fan of them seeing each other once and being obsessed but Nadine poured something magical into this book because I was hooked from the very beginning. Boiling Point follows Cal and Gabrielle as they navigate a forbidden romance since he is her professor.
I absolutely fell in love with the characters in page one. Not only were the characters extremely well developed, I also loved the addition of class scenes and him teaching/speaking about physics (I learned something new! Did i fully understand what Cal was talking about? No. But it was fun seeing how passionate he is about teaching and about physics). I also loved Gabrielle. I loved how her passion for aerospace shone through on the page. She was her own person with her own flaws and strengths. Outside of her relationship with Cal, she was fully developed as a character and I loved that we got a backstory to her and to Cal.
I love how there was absolutely no miscommuncation whatsover. They fell in love gradually and slowly and it was literally perfection. It felt like reading about real people and real romance. There was not crazy side plot that was going on (I think I am reading too much mafia right now lol). It was cute and cozy and all I wanted to do was tell both of them that they were doing great. They each had their own trauma and insecurities but they didn't let that stop them from pursuing each other. I also love how they push each other out of their own comfort zone (their first and second time hanging out with each other lol). I love how supportive they are of each other and the way they yearn for each other (like yes!). Gosh they made me swoon.
Overall, I highly recommend if you are fans of slow burn, forbidden romance, no miscommunication and cute/romantic dates. This book was beautifully well written with amazing emotional depth.
I finished this book in about 5 hours and really enjoyed it! The story starts off a bit slow, focusing on the tension between the main characters and giving background on both. Once you get halfway through, the relationship really picks up, and almost every chapter after that includes a sexual scene.
I liked that both characters had secret identities or hidden sides to their lives that contrasted each other — it made their connection feel like the right person, right time.
Cal was also incredibly brave for flying a two person plane (I personally could never — planes are basically flying buses 😅 lmao blame Sky High).
One thing that kept cracking me up was the continuous tea conversation thread throughout the book. It was such a random but hilarious detail that gave the story extra charm.
The book included two epilogues (one was a bonus extension), which was a fun addition. I also appreciated the author including a playlist to accompany the story, though I wish there had been an actual link rather than just a list of songs.
Overall, it was a solid, content-heavy romance with humor, tension, and passion — definitely worth the read!
✨ When logic collides with longing — he’s her professor, she’s the one variable he can’t control. A forbidden slow-burn that simmers with intellect, restraint, and undeniable chemistry. 🔥📚
✨ What I loved: ✔️ A forbidden romance handled with maturity — deep emotional connection over impulsive desire. ✔️ The age gap dynamic felt balanced and respectful — Gabrielle’s 25, grounded, and fiercely independent. ✔️ Cal’s quiet strength and moral conflict made him one of the most compelling MMCs. ✔️ Their banter and shared intellect added elegance to the tension — it’s both smart and swoon-worthy.
💭 What I wished for: 👉🏻 A few more moments of vulnerability from Cal — I wanted to see more cracks in his control.
📚 If you’re craving: 💣 Forbidden professor–student romance 🎓 Age gap with emotional depth 🔥 Slow burn that hits its boiling point 💬 Intelligent banter and genuine care …Boiling Point by Nadine Theiss deserves a permanent spot on your fall TBR.
Boiling Point by Nadine Theiss started off strong and the writing style reminded me a lot of the adult, maturity I read in another student/Professor romance Gabriel’s Inferno. Which is a huge compliment because I loved that book/series.
In Boiling Point we meet two very mature characters. Cal is a 38 year old college professor and Gabrielle is a 25 year old college student. The two meet and their chemistry is very organic. They fall and rather quickly. It was very sweet and endearing how they fell for one another. Their relationship was just sweet. While yes he’s her professor… this isn’t some scandalous spicy student/teacher read.
The first 50% of the book I devoured. The second half of the book focuses more on Cal and his background/family dynamic. The ending tries to stir up some drama but it all happens so quickly and wraps up so quickly. I felt the author threw it in because she “had to”.
While I did enjoy the story and characters and the mature tone of the book. The second half left me wanting more.
This author is a first for me, however the genre is not.
A book that will give your heart depth and your soul a love that is your safe haven, one with emotions deeply embedded, that will give you a feeling of pure, raw honesty and something so real it has to been seen to be believed.
Callum and Gabrielle will have you falling in love with them and their story right from the start until the very end. There story will be one you won’t want to miss, they will leave you captivated to the point where you won’t want to put the book down and will have you starting all over again, there love wasn’t inevitable, it was their undoing.
The teacher student relationship was written perfectly, the author wrote their story in a respectful way showing how a relationship is done right, and the emotional connection showed a depth that was both raw and heartfelt, and a layer of empathy and intimacy that made these two characters so well suited to each other.
Highly recommend both the author and the book, can’t wait to read what this author writes next!
