J'ai acheté ce livre sans savoir de quoi il traitait. J'aimais bien les illustrations !
J'ai été bien surprise, j'ai adoré ma lecture. J'ai ri plusieurs fois, mais savoir l'histoire derrière le personnage qui deviendra Gryfenfer m'intrigue et j'aimerais en lire plus!

Thankfully Kalandre is much less present in Gryfenfer’s past, even if she did play an important role in his fate. Oh, and I think that this book offers up even more nods to a variety of Japanese anime series than the previous books! (Even an elfin version… of Edward Elric!!)
My heart bled for Gryfenfer, his youth, and the trials he was subjected to. Having been kidnapped and suffered amnesia, he grew up as a monslave, which we knew about from the original series. What we learn here, is that he was not alone in his slavery, but he had a “big brother” in Samaël. The familial bonds between them touched me, and how their stories unfolded, their destinies, broke my heart once again. On the one hand because Gryf is undoubtedly my favorite character in this whole series, and on the other because what happens to him is so horrible to the point of the internal scars they will leave him with if . It’s… moving, I’d have to say. But then, I’m predisposed to feel stronger about him and his story from the beginning; even if Danaël’s story also touched me, the level, the origin, the depth of my emotions are different. (Unfortunately it’s also in Gryf’s story where I find his reasons for joining the Legendaries to be less… convincing than for the others. But oh well, he’s my favorite character, so it’s okay, haha. 4.5 stars rounded up it is!)
Between the end results of each Danaël’s and Gryfenfer’s stories, I think I’m starting to see just how they are going to become heroes for the world – LEGENDARIES – before the ultimate confrontation with Darkhell for the Stone of Jovénia …

J'ai le cœur serré pour Gryfenfer, sa jeunesse, et les épreuves qu'il a dû subir. Avoir été enlevé et devenu amnésique, il a grandi comme un monslave, ce qu'on connaît déjà de la série originale. Ce qu'on apprend ici, c'est qu'il n'était pas tout seul dans son esclavage, mais qu'il a eu un 'grand frère', incarné par Samaël. Les liens familiaux entre eux m'a touché, et la suite de leur histoire, leurs destins, m'a brisée le cœur encore une fois. D'une partie parce que Gryf reste mon personnage préféré de tout cette histoire, de l'autre parce que ce qui lui est arrivé est horrible du point de vu des cicatrices internes qu'ils vont lui laisser si . C'est... émouvant, je vais dire. Mais je suis prédisposée à ressentir plus pour lui et son histoire que les autres dès le début; donc même si j'étais ému pour l'histoire de Danaël aussi, le degré, l'origine, la profondeur du sentiment est différente. (Malheureusement c'est aussi dans l'histoire de Gryf où je trouve ses raisons de se joindre au Légendaires moins... convaincantes que pour les autres. Mais bon, il est mon préféré, donc ça va, haha. 4.5 étoiles arrondi alors!)
Entre les résultats de la fin du livre de Danaël et de Gryfenfer, je pense que je commence à voir comment ils vont devenir des vrais héros pour le monde - les LEGENDAIRES - avant cette ultime confrontation avec Darkhell pour la pierre de Jovénia...

*I would rate this book a 4.5 if half stars were allowed but am rounding up*
There was something incredibly satisfying about reading this particular entry into the 'Origines' series. Whereas the previous number on Jadina focused a lot more on how events were being manipulated beyond her control, this one chose to maintain it's focus much more on the hero from the title and his backstory, and my appreciation for Sobral's world-building is all the richer for it.
Unlike the previous numbers though, this book spent quite a bit of time focusing on Gryfenfer's youth, which created a nice, and maybe even more balanced, bridge between the childlike artwork I'm used to from the main series, and the adult versions of the heroes in this one. Definitely an enlightening read to those hoping to understand more about what drives these heroes, and a fairly good cliffhanger at the end on the part of Sobral - something he frequently did in the original series and that I thought he had abandoned in this one. There's quite a sense that a separate stand-alone narrative is slowly being built here, and I can't help but hope that that's the case.

Excellent tome, je ne me rendais pas compte que tous les tomes des origines avaient un lien aussi marque entre eux. Il faut vraiment que je pense a lire celui sur Shimy et Razzia !
