About the author

American author, mainly of children's novels. Born in Iowa. She worked as a music teacher before turning to writing books in the 1960s. Her children's books include three horse stories. She also wrote biographies, including those of historical figures who were important to the Women's and Indian Rights movements.

I read this book when I was eight and I remember that I loved it. It was my favorite book for years. I guess that all young girls have a fondness for horse stories and I read this when I was hitting that craze. Anyway, I'm going to order an edition from Amazon so that I can have it on hand when my girls are ready for it.
