im a little bummed about how dublin/ireland is portrayed in this, but its a pretty good book overall.
as usual, the pacing is quick and the story is easy, making this a great option if you are looking for some entertainment where you can just sit back and enjoy with little effort.
what i liked the most is how believable the romance is. with the two MCs falling for each other in a little over a week, the connection between them could have been very insta-lovey. and i suppose it is, technically, but it never actually feels that way. it has the chemistry of a whirlwind fling, but the sweetness of something deeper. its a good combination.
i kind of miss the main storyline that was used in the first two books, but it was nice to get away and read about another character. so all in all, this is a pretty decent addition to the series!

Chasing River is a book I’ve been looking forward to since I met Amber in Burying Water. Amber Welles is Jesse Welles sister. When I first read that book, I liked Amber straight away. Amber’s a good person, a good daughter, sister and she’s a nurse. She has been working and saving money for a long time to take a trip of a life time. She’s going to spend a few months overseas. Do it while she’s young and can travel and see the world. One of Amber’s destinations is Ireland. She’s not been there long, and she gets run over by a stranger. A stranger who ends up saving her life. What a meeting ;)
River Delaney has made mistakes in the past, but he’s also a good person. He works hard to run his family’s pub. He cares a lot about his family- which is the only reason he was at that park where Amber was. River may be a good person, but his older brother is not. River is stuck in a hard place of protecting his family or doing what he feels is the right thing.
Amber and River were great together. After being saved by River, Amber can’t get him out of her head. She has to track him down. She is drawn to him. Of course because of his brother, River is hesitant at very first about Amber, but he can’t stay away from her either.
Amber was a great character. She always tries to do the right thing, she has a caring heart, and I love that even though she was a stickler for the law and the right thing, she wasn’t judgmental about it. I also liked River’s character a lot. Yes- he’s got a bit of a past, but he is deep down a good guy. He knows he’s not good enough for the likes of a girl like Amber, but that doesn’t mean he won’t try to be. That line right there is probably my favorite of the book- I just love it!

“You’ll never be good enough for my daughter.”Chasing River is another wonderful addition to KA Tucker’s romantic suspense series. These books aren’t your traditional romance stories. I think it’s nice to every once and a while read something different. I loved that the book was set in Ireland and that there was so much history incorporated into the story. I also liked that the romance was more of a slow build. This story has lovable characters, mystery, suspense, love and fantastic writing. I think anyone who's read and enjoyed the first two books of this series would enjoy this as well. And if you haven’t, I highly recommend you jumping straight into Burying Water- it’s a favorite of mine!

Set in Ireland, CHASING RIVER reminded this bird, she needs to make it there someday . . . sooner rather than later.
If you’ve read Burying Water than you know, Amber is Jesse’s sister and the ultimate 'good girl'. She’s uber-responsible and let’s be honest, she’s played it safe for most of her life. I’m talking safe with a capital S. It's a broken heart that makes her realize it’s time to live a little. Time to get out there and experience life on her own terms. With plane tickets, plenty of plans and her bucket-list in tow, she embarks on a three-month solo journey around the world.
I have to admit, it was a little bit of a rough start for me. I wasn’t completely sold on the whole IRA/terrorist storyline in the beginning and let me explain why. Within the first few chapters, there’s a pipe bomb blast in the middle of a park where no one seems to be around. Well, accept for this lone American girl and her Superman poised to save the day. Really? Wouldn’t a terrorist want to send a bigger message? That thought, combined with who was involved, had me thinking this might not be a well executed storyline. I’m eating those words now and happy to be. As I came to understand more of the Irish history (as outlined in the book), how River’s family was involved with the IRA and how things are being taken out of context with the ‘newer generation’ - it made sense and felt more believable, for the most part.
I haven’t dabbled in this genre much lately and because of that, I almost managed to forget how great of a storyteller K.A. Tucker is. This time around, she combines a chance encounter, an old Irish bar, a pilfered bucket-list, great secondary characters and even some mild suspense. And like the majority of the couples in her books, Amber and River have a undeniable connection. One that only continues to build as the story progresses. I liked that Amber was the one to track River down, despite her inner critic and worries, and give chase. Doesn’t life have a funny way of working out sometimes? We think we know what we need, when in fact it's something or someone else entirely.
That epilogue and almost every scene with Rowen, left me wanting a story from his perspective. Dying for it actually. What a tease. Looks like K.A. Tucker has moved on to other things though. So, I’ll just have to be happy with Ivy’s story, sans Rowen, I guess.

FOUR POINT FIVE STARS
Chasing River is a journey to Ireland with an old world feel. Told in dual point of views which I love because it adds to the story.
All I know about the IRA (Irish Republican Army) I learned from Sons of Anarchy .
Luckily, for my sake, Ms. Tucker starts out the book with an Author’s Note supplying a history of Ireland. One that tells how the IRA came about and what it has turned into all these years later. Today the IRA is considered a violent gang and a terrorist organization. Why am I mentioning all of this? Because the IRA plays a big part in the book so if you need to know more about it than what you learned on SOA make sure read the author’s note at the beginning of the book.
The meet cute was explosive.
I think it is safe for me to safe this was a first for me… on how these two met. I love that she’s so blown away by him and yet when she thinks back on him she's reminded of his green eyes. To quote William Shakespeare, “The Eyes are the window to your soul.” Even though their first meeting was brief his eyes conveyed so many things from pleading to insistent.
I like men like I like my coffee...hot, strong and Irish.
Okay, I don’t really drink coffee but if did that would work for me. River has a bad boy persona: he works in a bar, he’s done time and his family has ties to the IRA. And yet his charm comes in the form of kindness and when he wipes her tears away I melted.
#1. Have a torrid affair with a foreigner.
Amber’s bucket list caught my attention right away with #1. Amber is from a small town in the mountains of Oregon. She has saved her money from her nursing job to afford this trip. Unfortunately, none of her friends could afford to go with her making this a solo trip. Prior to leaving her friend helps her come up with a bucket list of things to do. Most are the standard touristy things to do, Kiss the Blarney Stone and others are as obscure as #1. Ultimately, Amber just wants to make memories that will last her a lifetime.
How far would you go to protect your family?
Family loyalty is an underlying theme that runs throughout this story. Both River and Amber come to terms with how far they are willing to protect a sibling in trouble. I really enjoyed watching them figure out when it’s protecting a sibling and when enough is enough. TOUGH LOVE.
Ms. Tucker has made an awesome series with intriguing story lines. I'm looking forward to more books in the series.

Before I even begin my review, I have to mention that Chasing River is the first book in almost a week that I can say I actually enjoyed, read in one sitting, and never had the urge to DNF and move on from, so in a way this book's already a winner :)
K.A. Tucker writes some of the most complex yet touching stories and I’m a gigantic fan of hers. I ADORED her Ten Tiny Breaths series as those books had the perfect amount of angst, heartbreak, and romance. As for the Burying Water series, my love for these books has been pretty inconsistent so far. Book 1 was just okay for me, book 2 I loved and is a top favorite of mine, and book 3 (this book) overall was just okay. Don’t get me wrong – I still enjoyed it and I have little to no complaints about it. It’s just...have you ever read a book where everything goes the way it’s supposed to be and the story flows but when the book ends, you just don’t feel any way about it? Don’t hate it, don’t love it but it was still a nice book that helped pass the time and provided a temporary escape from reality? That’s my reaction to Chasing River. River and Amber were likable characters and the atmospheric Ireland setting was a refreshing change of scenery. My guess to why I felt indifferent about this book is that there wasn’t much development in either the romance or suspense part of the story that got my heart beating excitedly; instead, there was a huge focus on Irish history and culture that I just wasn’t interested in. The author definitely did her research! ;)
While I feel that this book was just mediocre overall, I can’t deny that the writing is high quality, plus the fact that it read well and had me interested enough that I finished proves to me that K.A. Tucker just can’t write a bad book. I’m already looking forward to book 4 in this series Surviving Ice as the heroine Ivy is a much darker, more intriguing character that’ll make for an intense read.
P.S. Sorry that this review is so much shorter and less detailed than normal. Usually books that I feel meh about the plot and characters I don’t have much to say...

So far I have read only the first book of this series and now this one and I can say this is the best!I really enjoyed it!If you consider the fact that I read it so fast!I loved the plot and the story of this one!Chasing River is captivating,sweet,unique and so different from whatever I have read before!
Amber is traveling around the world because she wants to break free from her Sheriff's daughter stigma and she tries to find herself. Now she is in Dublin, Ireland, and she is late for her bus tour so she decides to go across St. Stephen's Green to try to catch her bus..But something horrible will happen..she will be in the wrong place at the wrong moment..Lucky for her River is here and he will help her...But who is he?Can she find him again to thank him?? He saved her...
In this story there is a lot of history information that at the beginning I was a little confused but soon while I read more I couldn't put it down.The beginning was good started dynamic then it was a little slow for my taste but after this,the last quarter was good and I couldn't stop reading until I see what will happen!I liked Amber's character a lot, because I find some elements in her that I can relate with mine and this make me connect a lot with her character!!River is an interesting character.Apart from the characters,I also loved the bond Amber has with her father and River with his family!!
In general it was a great book!!If you are a fan of K.A. Tucker I'm sure you will love it!And if not now is your opportunity to read this!It's different from her other books and it's unique!I can't wait for Ivy's story!!

I'm not sure why I didn't realize from reading the synopsis that Amber Welles is the twin sister of Jesse Welles from Burying Water. Although I was hoping this book would have one of the 2 characters that were introduced in the previous one, I have to say I was excited when realized out who Amber was. Always the good girl to her troublemaking twin brother, I couldn't wait to find out what her story will bring. I have to say,
while I enjoyed this book, comparing to the first two it was probably my least favorite in the series. That's not to say it wasn't good, because it really was. I adore KA Tucker's writing style and her ability to bring her words to life. With the previous two books being in Oregon, it was a great change of pace to get the beauty of Ireland in this one.
Amber Welles is coming off a break up. She's always been the good girl, the good daughter, popular girl and all around perfect. She has a great job as a nurse, she has great friends (or so she thinks), but she's yearning for more. So she makes herself a bucket travel lists and sets off for sights unseen. But when she gets lost in Dublin, a run in with a guy with piercing green eyes leaves her rattled in more ways than one.
River Delaney has been on the wrong side of the law before, mostly thanks to his criminal older brother and his ties to the IRA. He's not looking to be caught there again. When he follows his recently out of prison brother and catches him laying a pipe bomb in the middle of St. Stephen's Green, he's not exactly shocked. But when he sees a lost American tourist about to run right into the bomb's path, he knows he has to do something. So he saves her and takes off before he can be tied to anything.
Amber can't seem to get the man that saved her life out of her mind and when she's able to track him down to his family's pub, she knows that she needs to get to know him. He affects her like no other man has in her life. He's also the exact opposite of any man she's ever dated, and yet she's inexplicably drawn to him.
Although I wasn't sure what to expect from Amber with her good girl thought process, she really pleasantly surprised me. I really enjoyed her character and the way she chased River even though it wasn't in her comfort zone. River was a hero that I liked straight away. He's sweet and caring but with a little edge to him. I loved the relationship he had with his brother Rowen. Though I was shocked at the development between Ivy and Rowen. (Wonder if this book is the last we've seen of him?)
So why not more stars? I felt that for the type of reader I am there was a little too much concentration on history and suspense than the romance. While that may work very well for other readers, I found it added a certain disconnect for me. Don't get me wrong, it was interesting to read about but not something I would typically turn to, if that even makes sense. This series isn't too heavy on the romance and it's not the HEA endings I usually like. It's suspenseful and gives the reader a very satisfying HFN. I just found the previous two books to be a little more enjoyable. The Burying Water series isn't heavy on romance or steam. If I had to rate the steam on a scale of 1-10, I'd say it's a 3. That's not why I read this series, though. It offers something different from the usual mainstream romance you'd find. It has suspense and mystery with the added element of romance. I just felt a slight disconnect with this one for reason I can't quite put my finger one. That being said, I'd definitely recommend this book for fans of the series.
I like that while the characters are interconnected, the books can easily be read as standalones. So if you haven't read the previous two books, you wouldn't be even a little lost jumping right into this one. I would recommend the other two books simply because they were fantastic and it does give the reader a better understanding of some of the secondary characters that make an appearance.

I'm not sure why I didn't realize from reading the synopsis that Amber Welles is the twin sister of Jesse Welles from Burying Water. Although I was hoping this book would have one of the 2 characters that were introduced in the previous one, I have to say I was excited when realized out who Amber was. Always the good girl to her troublemaking twin brother, I couldn't wait to find out what her story will bring. I have to say,
while I enjoyed this book, comparing to the first two it was probably my least favorite in the series. That's not to say it wasn't good, because it really was. I adore KA Tucker's writing style and her ability to bring her words to life. With the previous two books being in Oregon, it was a great change of pace to get the beauty of Ireland in this one.
Amber Welles is coming off a break up. She's always been the good girl, the good daughter, popular girl and all around perfect. She has a great job as a nurse, she has great friends (or so she thinks), but she's yearning for more. So she makes herself a bucket travel lists and sets off for sights unseen. But when she gets lost in Dublin, a run in with a guy with piercing green eyes leaves her rattled in more ways than one.
River Delaney has been on the wrong side of the law before, mostly thanks to his criminal older brother and his ties to the IRA. He's not looking to be caught there again. When he follows his recently out of prison brother and catches him laying a pipe bomb in the middle of St. Stephen's Green, he's not exactly shocked. But when he sees a lost American tourist about to run right into the bomb's path, he knows he has to do something. So he saves her and takes off before he can be tied to anything.
Amber can't seem to get the man that saved her life out of her mind and when she's able to track him down to his family's pub, she knows that she needs to get to know him. He affects her like no other man has in her life. He's also the exact opposite of any man she's ever dated, and yet she's inexplicably drawn to him.
Although I wasn't sure what to expect from Amber with her good girl thought process, she really pleasantly surprised me. I really enjoyed her character and the way she chased River even though it wasn't in her comfort zone. River was a hero that I liked straight away. He's sweet and caring but with a little edge to him. I loved the relationship he had with his brother Rowen. Though I was shocked at the development between Ivy and Rowen. (Wonder if this book is the last we've seen of him?)
So why not more stars? I felt that for the type of reader I am there was a little too much concentration on history and suspense than the romance. While that may work very well for other readers, I found it added a certain disconnect for me. Don't get me wrong, it was interesting to read about but not something I would typically turn to, if that even makes sense. Chasing River is the third book in K.A. Tucker's Burying Water series, and it’s the story of Amber Wells the twin sister of Jesse from Burying Water.
Amber has always been the local “good girl”. But after dumping the guy who she’d thought was the right one, takes off on a world adventure complete with her travel list.
going from pub to pub, drinking Guinness and listening to Irish tales and history – loved when River gets up in the dark and smoky bar and tells the story of his family….
Even though I enjoyed the Irish history, I did feel at times it dragged on a bit. I would have liked to have more romance between River & Amber.
What I liked about this story:
River & Amber….they were such a cute couple and the whole it’s going to happen now…and it doesn’t….
River’s family especially his younger brother….I was so bummed out about what happens to him at the end…
Ivy…….wow….I can’t wait for her story!!!!
The ending…just perfect!!! And totally so real.
Whilst this was not my favorite book in this series, I still found it an exciting addition to the series. It was a sweet and enchanting story of the two most unlikely people to find a HEA together!!
This book could be read as a standalone but its better if you read the previous books…get some back-story on Amber.

This is really a sweet story, filled with quirky and interesting and endearing characters, set in the amazing Irish country. In fact, the author’s vivid setting makes the places come alive. It felt as if I was actually walking around the dark streets of Dublin,
going from pub to pub, drinking Guinness and listening to Irish tales and history – loved when River gets up in the dark and smoky bar and tells the story of his family….
The city of Dublin is like another character in this story.
Even though I enjoyed the Irish history, I did feel at times it dragged on a bit. I would have liked to have more romance between River & Amber.

K. A. Tucker just continues to surprise me with every new book in Burying Water series. I absolutely loved previous two books, Burying Water and Becoming Rain, and I anxiously waited for the next one. Still, I was a little bit afraid because I had doubts about story and its originality compared to first two books. I shouldn't have had any doubts - Chasing River was amazing.
Want to know why? Here we go...
- Setting. Chasing River is happening in Ireland. Now, I am always trying to hold back when reading books that are written about other countries by authors who aren't actually connected with those in any way other than maybe as a tourist. It feels like K.A. Tucker had done her research before writing this book.
- River. So far, Water and Rain were female characters, but in the third sequel River is a guy. And what a guy!
- Romance. This will not be the usual new adult storyline, that is something I can promise. First of all, the way Amber and River meet, reasons for which she looks for him and, in the end, how everything unravels is main reason for my five stars rating.
- Secondary characters. I feel a story there. Ivy will already get hers in Surviving Ice and I am really curious about River's younger brother.
Who should read this book? Fans of K.A. Tucker (of course). All of you who have doubts about new adult genre. If you want romance and suspense in your books. Chasing River will not disappoint you.

Last year, when I met the Welles family in Burying Water, I completely fell in love with their selflessness, compassion and generosity. I was so excited to read Amber’s book, but when I saw it was taking place in Ireland I was ecstatic.
Amber Welles, our Oregon girl, has saved up her money and is on a trip around the world. She isn’t usually one to step outside her comfort zone, but decides it’s now or never and she is ready to live. Things are going according to plan until she is a victim in an accident in Dublin.
River Delaney is a guy just trying to do the right thing, be a good brother, run his family’s pub, and hopefully one day have a family of his own. He isn’t your typical hero, but when he sees that an innocent bystander is about to be injured he is unable to look the other way, he has to save her.
River and Amber are an unlikely pair. She is a rule follower who believes rights right and wrongs wrong. He is a guy who has seen more gray and hard times then he wants to admit. Together, they are exactly what the other needs. I loved their connection, mainly because neither one was whole without the other. He is the guy who makes Amber feel alive and she is the girl he doesn’t think he deserves.
I feel like all the books in the series have been strong, so it’s hard to say which is my favorite. While this book is a strong addition to the series it isn’t my favorite. I wanted more romance and spark between the Amber and River. They are perfect on paper, I just wanted to see more in the story. We get so much history that at times it felt the story slowed down.
Chasing River is a smart, suspenseful, exciting read. I love how Tucker makes you think, things aren’t always black and white; and distinguishing between right and wrong can be difficult. If you are looking for a book that will pull you in, make you think and ultimately have falling in love with the characters this is your book.

"I'll tell you a story about a lowly Irish peasant bartender who falls in love with a beautiful American princess."
This is probably my favorite so far in the Burying Water series. Probably because it takes place in a rich setting of Ireland and I'm a complete sucker for stories with foreign background settings. It was a nice change of scenery from the rest of her series so far. I thought KA Tucker did a wonderful job in transporting me into that beautiful world and its culture. Although I will admit that sometimes the read got really heavy on the history details and may not be for everyone, I'm one who appreciated it as I'm a fan of reading cultural history :)
I got into the story quite easily as it does start off quite dramatically with a pipe bomb going off which led to both MCs crossing paths. Being a traveller myself, I think it was easy for me to connect with Amber on some level and the excitement of checking things off a bucket list was definitely something I can relate to! The overall romance was also nicely developed, nothing overly instantaneous however it wasn't one that was all-consuming either.
Overall it was a decent enjoyable story for me and with this author's strong writing style, I found myself finishing it in one sitting during my plane trip. Again, it's good to emphasize that this series gravitates more to the romantic suspense genre. Definitely looking forward to the next book as it features Ivy who has been introduced in this read and she's quite the spunky one ;)

Confession time:
Chasing River is only the second KA Tucker book that I’ve read! And the first in this series.
… I know, I know … I’m hanging my head in shame. Seriously. I am.
This book was so well done. And it’s so much more than your run of the mill romance. I was astounded by how easily I found myself enveloped in a world of rich Irish landscapes and deep traditions. I think I got a history lesson in there too … but it was woven so perfectly into this fabulous story, I never felt like I was being preached at … but I definitely came away with a much deeper understanding and appreciation for Irish nationalism. Considering my last name is Bailey, I’m guessing this lesson was long overdue.
Now, lets talk romance … because there’s so much of it in this story! River and Amber are an unexpectedly perfect couple. Their first meeting is certainly not average and leads to a tremulous situation. While they both feel strongly for each other, circumstance overshadows that connection. They both want more, but history and geography may keep them apart.
Such beautiful angst! Not melodramatic or over-the-top or juvenile in nature … just wonderfully real. I adored River and everything he did to win Amber’s heart. Want to meet a true knight in shining armor? I think his name is River Delaney & he lives in this book … he may argue about that title, but trust me … you’d want him to save you too! Amber, on the other hand … while I loved her strength in character, I found her to be a bit too much of a goody-goody for a large part of the story & that turned me off … but she did come around eventually, so I forgave her.
There is some really good suspense and action in this book as well. The entire story is focused around events that had me holding my breath. Romantic suspense is definitely one of my favorite genres & I love it even more when it’s so authentic. None of the events felt forced or manufactured, it was beautifully organic. The tense moments really added a great complexity to the story and heightened my feelings toward the characters as well.
A beautiful story that I would highly recommend to anyone. Now I plan to go catch up with the rest of KA Tucker’s books … I think I’ve been missing out!

Amber Welles has always been the “good girl” growing up. She didn’t feel she had much choice with the scrutiny that comes with being the daughter of the town’s Sheriff. Amber actually didn’t mind that so much, because it was never in her to make waves or cause problems. For the last two years she’s been saving her money for a four month trip all over the globe. She’s ready to get out of Oregon and see the outside world and live a little. Amber was excited for the adventure that lay ahead in Ireland. What Amber wasn’t expecting is the pipe bomb that would’ve killed her had a handsome stranger there just in time to save her life.
River’s family has lived around conflict and the danger in Ireland for years. His family fought in the IRA years back, until his father was nearly killed and the ideals and goals seemed to put human life second. Unfortunately, River’s brother Aengus has always gravitated to trouble. This trouble leads River to being in the right spot at the right time to save a pretty American who was about to be collateral damage in one of Aengus’ idiotic plots. River never dreamed Amber would track him down to thank him, but now that she has he doesn’t want to let her go.
I’ve loved this series from the beginning. A little bit of suspense mingled in with a burgeoning romance is just my cup of tea. When River knocks Amber out of harm, saving her life, he also brands a little piece of himself into her heart. When she catches up with him and sees him in his element, his charm is the last nail in the coffin when it comes to her heart. I do appreciate that Amber didn’t sacrifice who she was at her core when she found out exactly what was going on, but also didn’t let her long held beliefs prejudice her completely when it came to River and his situation. I also appreciated that even though River made Amber want to throw out all her plans for him, she realized that she needed to step back and analyze the situation and make sure her feelings were solid, real and something that could be built upon and made more permanent. Amber was completely swept up by her feelings for River, more than any other past relationship, so it really took a lot of strength to realize she needed perspective before making any rash decisions.
River is completely taken with Amber. He loves her strength of character, and her strong moral code, but those qualities could be exactly the reason Amber wouldn’t take a chance on him with his history. When they’re together all their chemistry and attraction make those thoughts fly out the door, and River wonders how he can make their “torrid affair” turn into more.
I really enjoyed this story. I loved the setting and have always wanted to visit Ireland. Falling in love with a sexy Irish hero, in a centuries old bar where family and friends are the regulars sounds like an amazing experience to me! I could do without the danger Aengus brought to the Delaney family, but in this story it added just the right amount of danger and suspense to make Chasing River a captivating read. With that said, Aengus was a right idiot and his decisions cost his family dearly. To me, getting out of prison would be a perfect time for a second chance at a good life. Apparently Aengus didn’t get the memo.

She was completely opposite from Jesse in that she never got into trouble, but her circumstances in Ireland give her a different view on life entirely and I think for once she was able to see how a good person could get caught up in a situation. I think she matured enough to realize that real life isn’t always black and white. Embracing the unexpected gave Amber a dose of passion she never thought possible, and I just loved how things turned out. I’m hoping to catch a glimpse of Amber and River in the next installment!

3.5 stars!
So I have mix feelings about this one I didn't end up loving it as much as book 4 and yes, I'm going backwards with this series. I read the blurbs of all the books and book 4 caught my attention first, so after reading it I was intrigued by this series. Like I said mixed feelings and all so I'm just gonna say what worked for me and what didn't.
What worked, the writing as always so good, the setting, Ireland reading about the culture and the story telling, loved that part, especially the one River told which had me teary eye. The H River, he was hard working and loyal to his family. The h Amber, I liked her at first traveling alone around Europe trying to find herself. She meets River in a explosive encounter (I mean that literally) when he saves her life, but then he leaves before she can even thank him and so the chase begins.
What didn't work, didn't feel the connection between the MC and to me River was the one chasing Amber. And Amber, Amber I definitely wanted to shake some sense into her. I think she had this idea of her Prince Charming and when she realized that River didn't fit the box she was judgmental towards him. I can understand to a point her being hesitant but when a man shows you with action his good intentions you at least keep your mind open, give the guy a chance. But the constant doubting and thinking his not good enough because of his past mistakes that were more from association than anything, that, really bugged me. The ending was abrupt and same for the epilogue.
Regardless of my issues I liked it enough and so plan to continue with the rest of the series. I had to think on my rating for a few days and I feel comfortable with 3.5 stars. River/writing/Ireland definitely saved the book for me.❤️

4 Loving Ireland stars
I love K.A. Tucker. I’m a huge fan of her Breathing series. I would say that the Burying Water series is more suspenseful and less romantic. Chasing River is a standalone. I like how each book in the Burying Water series is unique and different.

Becoming Rain, book 2, is about a girl who is an undercover cop
Chasing River, book 3 is about a girl who travels to Ireland
With each book I read, I can tell Tucker did her research. You are completely consumed with Ireland in Chasing River. Suffice it to say, if you like Ireland or the culture, this book is for you.
Before the story even begins, Tucker gives you an introduction to her book. I’m glad she did this, it really set the tone and pace of the read. She goes into the history of Ireland, mostly the war between the Protestant and Catholics.
Amber is a nurse, but she takes a break to travel the world, mostly Europe. She’s in Ireland for one week and as she tries to find her way to a tour group, she gets ambushed by River. River throws himself on top of her before a bomb explodes.
Wow, what a beginning. I was hooked from the first chapter and I HAD to find out what will happen. Who is River? How did he know to throw himself on top of Amber? What will Amber do? River quickly checks to see if Amber is okay and runs away from the scene.
Amber is just taken aback by the experience, but she wants to find out who River is and why he saved her.
River works at his parents’ pub. He isn’t your typical twenty-something. He’s been incarcerated and he has HUGE family issues. I liked River because he was a bit mysterious to me. Like I said, this series is a bit suspenseful, so I was curious to know his story. Why does River have issues with his brother? Why did he run away from the scene?
When Amber and River do meet up, the relationship is a slow build-up and I kind of liked that. The romance is very mild and there’s hardly any steam. It may not be everyone’s cuppa. I think this book has the least amount of romance.
If you read the reviews, everyone’s opinion is pretty much split. The book is thick on Ireland’s history and culture, it will definitely make you want to visit, but the romance is kind of put on the burner. I would probably categorize this more of a fiction read, than a romance fiction novel.
I still love K.A. Tucker and I’m still going to continue to read this series. Oh and this one is my favorite cover.

Amber Welles is on a mission to find herself. She packs up her things and uses everything she has saved in her two years of nursing to take her journey around the world. When her journey brings her to Dublin, Ireland her whole world shifts when she almost gets blown up. Luckily she was saved and now she finds herself chasing after her savior.
River Delaney is constantly looking after his older brother and trying to keep him on the right side of the law. But when his brother goes too far and almost hurts an American tourist, one who River had to save, he realizes he can't protect someone who doesn't want to be protected. Now the American he saved is tracking him down and even though River knows he should push her away, he keeps hoping she'll chase him.
I am kicking myself so hard for not reading this the second it was released. This story was utter perfection and I read it all in one night because I refused to let my eyes close until I read every single word of it. The story was perfect and I loved how there was so much Irish history thrown in, but in a way that it all went with the story and wasn't random or just too much information. I was actually taking little notes the whole time so I could visit all the places River talked about while in Ireland next year.
I really liked Amber's character in Burying Water and was really happy that I finally got to learn more about her. In her own way she was a good person that saw the world as black and white, right and wrong. To her there was no in between and if you did something wrong then you need to pay for it. It was really interesting to see the little struggle with her and River because of that. She was the type that would turn in her own brother to protect him from himself, while River was the type to protect his brother by hiding all the wrong doings.
River, River, River. What can I say about River, other than the fact that I fucking loved him! I honestly can't even think of the right words to describe how much I liked River. What I can say is that his character was really amazing and I loved how family oriented he was and how he really cared about protecting those he loved and doing right by them. He really pushed Amber to open up and be true to herself about what she wanted and I loved seeing that. They had a real connection that was jumping off of the pages, which made their characters seem so much more real.
The overall story was just fantastic. There was romance and new found friendship and some old hurts being healed and all together is just came together really well.
P.S. While in Ireland I will be searching for my own River. Wish my luck, ladies!

K.A Tucker is an automatic one click for me. The stories she gives us are captivating and unique and the characters we are introduced to are difficult not to like. However... (and I don't say this easily), "Burying Water" is probably my least favourite of everything I have read by this author. I'm not saying it was a bad read but equally I wasn't blown away by it either. But before I go into what didn't work quite so well for me, let's look at all the positives.
The premise of the story was a good one and different to anything I'd read before. Set in Dublin, as well as focusing on the unlikely but swoon worthy romance between River Delaney and Amber Welles, there was also much emphasis placed on the political unrest in the country. In fact that is how the couple first met. Amber was in the wrong place at the wrong time and River Delaney just happened to be her Irish knight in shining armour, putting himself in harms way to protect her. Now that is brave, gutsy and noble... isn't it? But what was River hiding from Amber and should his secret ever be revealed, would Amber still see him in the same light? This is the part of the story I couldn't wait to get to because I could see the couple's affections towards one another growing stronger by the day. In fact the more they saw of one another, the more it was as if they were meant to be so I couldn't wait to see how everything would pan out when the proverbial hit the fan... which if course it would.
Both River and Amber were fab leading characters. As much as River had that good old fashioned Irish charm that could melt the knickers off the ladies, there was another side to his personality that really pulled at the heart strings. Caught between a rock and a hard place, he really was in an impossible situation and the more I read, the more I found myself wondering how he would ever get out of the mess that had been created. I wanted him to run away and never look back but of course that was never going to be an option. He was Irish and family was everything and so he had to try and find a way to work it all out but at the same time, protect those he held close.
Now you'll probably remember Amber from previous books in the series. She was Jesse's sister and Sheriff Gabe Welle's daughter so I guess it stands to reason that trouble would follow her half way around the world to the Emerald Isle. After all, when it came to the Welle's family, trouble was never far away... lol. I really liked Amber's character. She was a little straight laced but still very much relatable with all the fears and insecurities most women her age have. But I loved her rational thinking. This thing with River wasn't instalove ... not by a long shot although feelings were obviously there. Amber was fully aware that her time in Ireland was limited and that nothing could come of this growing connection with River in the long term and so she was going to enjoy it for what it was and tick off some of the items on her travel bucket list that she created with Alex before she left home. In fact this would tick off "have an affair with a foreigner" perfectly... lol.
Reconnecting with some of my favourite characters from previous books in the series (including Alex and Sheriff Welle's who made a fatherly appearance) really helped to bring a familiarity to Amber and River's story which I loved. Equally there were some secondary characters who stole my heart and piqued my interest. I'm really hoping that Rowan and Ivy get their own books. I can only imagine how brilliant their stories will be.
So what didn't quite hit the mark for me? Well, "Chasing River" started off really well with an opening that had me itching for more. However, the pace then slow down considerably with the focus shifting from River and Amber to the history behind the troubles in Ireland and the political unrest that is still present today. In fact there were moments for me where there was so much emphasis put on the unrest that the romance kinda got drowned out and my attention was lost. This book took me four days to read. A K.A Tucker book never takes me more than a day to finish so I guess that's saying something. I needed more from the romance side of things. I wanted that fluttery butterfly feeling. I wanted nervous anticipation. I wanted my emotions to be put through the ringer but that got kinda lost amongst the sub plot.
Luckily, the pace did pick up in the last quarter and I couldn't read fast enough to see how this story would end because I honestly couldn't predict which way it would go. I'm so glad this author kept the outcome realistic for the characters we were given and I'm so thankful for another beautiful epilogue.
So I guess all in all this was an okay read but not a "blow your mind" read but that's just me. I know others who loved the book and felt it was one of the author's best. Horses for courses I guess. I rated "Chasing River" ❤️❤️❤️.5 to ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Chasing River is a beautifully poignant portrayal of love and friendship. Set in the background of the IRA woes, along with realistic family concerns and life in general.
Amber and River's story shows us, that at any moment you can be unexpectedly knocked off your feet. Removing all inhibitions and falling for the mostly unlikely of persons. Opposites do attract.
Amber Welles, is on a journey. A trip of a lifetime that is supposed to give her freedom and allow her to gain worldly experiences. While, simultaneously, allowing Amber to self assess. Being a nurse and the daughter of the Sheriff. Amber needed to getaway from her busy, straight and narrow lifestyle, and overprotective family. Armed with her wits, and nervously stepping outside of her comfort zone. Amber sets off on her journey, that will prove to be more exciting and dangerous than she thought possible. Her predictable life, soon gets turned upside down, when a green eyed stranger saves her life.
River Delaney, the green eyed savior. A simple barman, situated in Dublin. Being the middle child, with two brothers, the oldest always getting into trouble, and the youngest, a carefree, fun loving person. River's family owns and runs, one of the oldest pubs in Ireland, and have strong ties to the IRA and is deep rooted with Ireland's struggles. It's because of his brother, that the IRA struggles, forces him to save an unknown victim, Amber, from a bombing.
After saving Amber, not wanting to get caught by the police, River immediately disappears. Amber can't seem to get this stranger out of her mind. She changes her course and soon tracks River down. When they meet across the bar, there is an unmistakable attraction, that draws them both in. Amidst the IRA struggles, and their family concerns. River, the rough neck, barman, falls for Amber Welles, the prim and proper, 'good girl.'
“I haven’t forgotten what you did for me, River. I’ll never forget.”
I must say that I loved the way Amber's character was constantly evolving, when she stepped outside of her comfort zone. She kept taking risks, not knowing the outcome, but just moved ahead, with her goal in mind. Then there was River; the way his past melded with the present, to create such a well rounded character. To be caught up again with trouble due to his brother's plight.
The rule breaker clashes with the rule follower. How ironic!
K.A. Tucker brought out some fierce themes within this book, and I will say, I learned somewhat about the IRA struggles, because I just finished watching all the seasons of Sons of Anarchy. But, I learned so much more than I intended from reading this book. It was a bit on the overloading side for me. Because I thought this took away from the romantic aspect of the book and between the characters.
I loved this statement/dream the most. Because I am always one for being spontaneous and removing all inhibitions. I was wawed that Amber took this to heart.
“1. Have a torrid affair with a foreigner. Country: TBD.”
An enjoyable and suspenseful read, that keeps your mind wondering throughout.

Definitely my favourite in the series.
I will have soon a full review as well, but until then there are some things I needed to mention.
First the characters - I liked Amber even from the snippets we got in the previous books. All her life she tried to be the good girl, in complete opposite with her brother and this is her chance to break away and be herself. It's funny how adventure is not what she expected, but she is a stubborn girl and won't run away even when everything screams danger ahead. River is the nice bad-guy a girl can dream about. He is running away from the past, but that one only tends to catch up with him still and it's hard to stay out of trouble when you want to keep your loved ones safe.
Then, the romance - I really enjoyed knowing them and watching them get to know each other. They were fun and cute and the chemistry was definitely there. Everything around them was so complicated, but they tried to make the best out of it. There was no easy path, they were strangers thrown together in this mess, they had secrets, they had needs, but - lucky them - they also had each other.
The story - oh, I liked how complicated things were, also I appreciated that the ending wasn't precisely tied with a bow. There was adventure and love and intrigue and suspense, and I loved every second of it!
CONCLUSION: loved, loved this one. It can be read as a standalone (like the previous ones) but I recommend reading them one by one, they are all lovely and you understand better some characters and actions ;)

I will have soon a full review as well, but until then there are some things I needed to mention.
First the characters - I liked Amber even from the snippets we got in the previous books. All her life she tried to be the good girl, in complete opposite with her brother and this is her chance to break away and be herself. It's funny how adventure is not what she expected, but she is a stubborn girl and won't run away even when everything screams danger ahead. River is the nice bad-guy a girl can dream about. He is running away from the past, but that one only tends to catch up with him still and it's hard to stay out of trouble when you want to keep your loved ones safe.
Then, the romance - I really enjoyed knowing them and watching them get to know each other. They were fun and cute and the chemistry was definitely there. Everything around them was so complicated, but they tried to make the best out of it. There was no easy path, they were strangers thrown together in this mess, they had secrets, they had needs, but - lucky them - they also had each other.

I loved this book! A great romance with some crime drama and a touch of history, it was really well put together and a beautiful story that had me captivated from the very beginning.
This is the third book in the Burying Water series, and while it ties in to the other books in the series, it has a really different feel to it, and can easily be read as a standalone.
Amber is the twin sister of Jesse, the hero from Burying Water. 25 years old, she is on the trip of a lifetime that she has been working and saving hard for, off exploring the world on her own, and hoping to broaden her horizons at the same time. She is in Dublin, Ireland, when she is saved from serious harm and possible death by a gorgeous Irishman who literally throws himself on her, shielding her from an explosion in the park she is running through.
River Delaney is no stranger to trouble, mostly because of his older brother, Aengus, who has ties to a notorious crime group. But he never expected to find himself in the position of hero, which is exactly what happens when he saves Amber in the park that day. Knowing that he would be unable to explain his presence or his actions to the authorities, he runs from the scene as soon as he ascertains that Amber is ok.
Amber is understandably shaken by the event, but as the shock wears off and she starts to remember the details from that day, she tracks River down at his family’s pub where he works, determined to thank him for saving her life. River initially tries to keep his distance from Amber, not wanting to involve her in his family dramas, but neither of them are able to resist their draw to each other. And as they spend time together – with some great flirting, innocent touches and lots of sweet moments - they fall for each other in what is a beautifully developing romance that, for the two of them, is sweet and easy, but also so incredibly complicated. Not only is Amber shortly due to leave the country to continue on her journey, but River’s brother’s affiliations are causing problems for River and his family, and River himself has a past that he hasn’t shared with Amber.
Amber and River are both fantastic characters. Amber is not perfect, but she’s very relatable, and I really admired her strength and determination. And River is absolutely gorgeous! A good guy fighting against unfair circumstances, he is loyal and brave, and an absolute sweetheart. I adored these two together, and my mind was spinning trying to figure out how they were going to get their HEA.
I love the way their love story unfolded, and I love the way they handled everything that was happening between them. Despite all that they are facing, they are incredibly functional and honest about how they are feeling. There is drama, but it never becomes overwhelming, and Amber and River don’t allow it to come between them. They deal with it together, and they genuinely try to do the best for themselves, their loved ones and each other
The story is fast moving, and as much as I loved Amber and River’s love story, I also really enjoyed the historical and political element of the story and the way that it was woven into the overarching plotline, and the natural extension of that into the dramas of River’s family. There is so much more to this book than just the romance, and it’s all tied together to create a compelling story.
The book builds to a heart-pounding climax that had me on the edge of my seat, but the ending is beautifully satisfying. Just because of my love for the characters, I would have liked a little bit more detail, but the book finishes in a great place, and the epilogue provides a nice little glimpse into the future. I’m really looking forward to Ivy's book next, and hope that we haven't seen the last of these characters.
My favourite of the series so far. I absolutely loved it – 4.5 stars.

It was hard not to already be half in love with Amber after reading Burying Water, which was why, going into Chasing River, I didn't hesitate at all. I knew I already liked her, cared about her, and wanted her to have one heck of a story.
Throw in a gorgeous Ireland setting and a handsome guy with a hero complex not to mention an Irish brogue and really, you can't go wrong.
I really enjoyed this read. I knew I would but it surprised me with how caught up I was in the chaos of River's family, in the IRA, and all the other little twists and turns this story took.
Throw in a relationship that gasp is not filled with angst and you had one heck of a slow burning, but quick romance that was every bit as hard to resist and it was to put down.
This wasn't quite as action packed as its predecessors but it was every bit as good and dangers still lurked here and there that the cast of characters had to suffer through and endure together.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable read that for me, stood out in the very prevalent genre of new adult. No same old same old here. Something fresh, new, and a story that held its own.

I loved, Chasing River, the 3rd book in the Burying Water series. I loved the history of Ireland, (I am Irish-Italian and my Irish ancestry is from Cork Ireland, it was so cool reading a little about it in the book) and as well, I loved reading about the history of the IRA, I loved the strong familial ties, and of course I loved the relationship between River and Amber it was dynamic and endearing.
This book opens with a bit of a history lesson. Don't let that frighten or steer you away. It was enlightening. It took me back to the memories of the news reports of my youth when the bombings and reports of killings and unrest were occurring on a minute to minute basis in Ireland. I would sit in front of the television with my parents, feeling angry, baffled and even a bit frightened. I never fully understood what was going on or why it was happening. Only that it didn't make any sense to me. To me, K.A. Tucker does a great job explaining for what reasons both sides were fighting, in both past and present day.

River leaves her after checking to see if she's okay. She's left with bruises, confusion over what the hell just happened, and who just saved her life, and why. She has nothing to tell the police when they arrive. They leave their card, and ask her to call should she remember more. Therein lies the issue for Amber. She does remember a few things. But she doesn't think the guy who saved her life was the same who set the bomb, but why did he run? She needs to find out.

She hopes to make memories of a lifetime and figure out who exactly, Amber Welles is. She knew that in order to do that, she needed to get away from the overprotectiveness of her father, the practical mind of her mother and be free of the scrutinizing eyes of both. Going out on her own goes against her practical, good girl, always following the rules, nature. But she's determined, she knows that if she doesn't do this now, before she is tied down to a family, she never will. So she sets out on a journey that is sure to change her life in ways she could never predict.
River Delaney, is a bartender, and son of pub owners of one of the oldest pubs (Delaney's) in Dublin, Marion and Seamus Delaney. He has two brother's the oldest and the one who brings on the most trouble, Aengus and the youngest, most responsible and fun-loving of the three, Rowen. River's family has a rich history with the IRA and of Ireland's struggles.
It is this struggle that brings on the chance meeting between River and Amber. River is not the type of guy Amber would normally date, she dates doctors and business men, he doesn't normally date straight laced "good girls", but they instantly hit it off and there is an undeniable connection. That is until she learns the truth.
Here's the thing about this book that had me nervous and happy all in the same. It had insta-lust (which I usually hate) but it was handled with a beautiful romance and the heroine staying true to who she is! I LOVED the ending, because while the ending is an HEA, it is a realistic HEA. It was perfect!
This book had it all for me, a beautiful romance, humor and suspense. This is a top May read!

This author may have to be added to my auto-buy list. I thoroughly enjoyed this current installment just as much as the last one. For anyone like me that has been traumatized by the vulgar tripe that has polluted the New Adult genre, I implore you to check out this author.
Every book by her consists of a romantic AND interesting plot, filled to the brim with memorable and lovable characters. Each voice is realistic and impossible to tear yourself away from. I hate how I can never write a proper review when I'm gushing over a book, but just trust me that this is an awesome read for all fans of realistic romances with awesome plots.
Note: The Burying Water books can each be read as a standalone, although characters from the previous books will still be mentioned. However you won't end up scratching your head in confusion, the author does a good job of making each book readable no matter where you are in the series.

Five Caffeinated reasons to grab a copy of Chasing River
We met Amber in previous books; Despite her family's concerns she is traveling abroad on a three-month adventure. She just arrived in Dublin, Ireland the previous night and is cutting through Steven’s Greens, to make it to a scheduled tour when out of nowhere a young Irishman saves her life and runs off. The tale that unfolds shares growth, the complications of family and the realization that sometimes love is not at all how you imagined or where you thought you would find it.
River Delaney is twenty-four and destined to run his family owned pub in Dublin. The Stag has been a part of his family for over two hundred years. He is the middle brother and has a lot on his plate for such a young man. There is his Dad’s health, his younger brother’s schooling and dealing with complications caused by his brother Aengus and his involvement with the IRA. River is complicated and I felt for him. Tucker gives us an inside look at the struggles one faces when a loved one is involved in violent activity. She pushes the boundaries of loyalty and love.
Amber Welles has spunk. Imagine traveling alone to foreign countries. After the young Irishman saved her life, she cannot help thinking about him. She spots something on the street and it gives her the clue she needs to find the young man and thank him. Amber is adventurous and carries with her a bucket list of things to do on her journey from simple things like dressing like a bond girl to sun bathing naked. She also has her life mapped out from the type of guy she will fall for to where she will live and work. Life experience tells us this almost never happens and I enjoyed watching Amber push herself, discover new things and take chances.
Ireland’s history and the IRA is a subject I know bits and pieces about and Tucker did a wonderful job of sharing its history. How the IRA formed and where it is today are vastly different and she gave us a clear untainted picture leaving the reader to reserve judgement and perhaps pique their interest. She also shared stories from the potato famine and this was one of my favorite scenes in the novel. It had me shed a tear and at the same time increased my longing to visit Dublin.
Secondary characters, family and a delicious romance all set against the beautiful backdrop of Dublin, Ireland had me swooning. You could feel their attraction to each other, and his reluctance to bring her into his complicated world. I loved that she pushed back and chased River. Their romance certainly had a few bumps, but they talked and shared keeping the angst low. Tucker added suspense, danger and some intense scenes that forced growth keeping me fully vested in the outcome. She kept me flipping the pages in search of my HEA.

4.5 "Fall in Love with a Foreigner" Stars! Lovers of the Burying Water Series will not want to miss KA Tucker's latest installment, Chasing River. Providing a familiar theme--an arguably badboy hero who is willing to reform his questionable ways for love--in an all new setting--the politically fraught backdrop of Ireland; Ms. Tucker manages to keep this series fresh and new, while still providing an overarching unifying theme.
For those of you who have not had a chance to read the prior books in the Burying Water Series, no worries. As Chasing River fully contains both the entire underlying danger filled plot and the love story of the hero and heroine within its pages, and therefore can be easily read as a standalone. For those of you who have read this series, however, the heroine, Amber Welles, is the sister of Jesse Welles, the hero from the first book, Burying Water.
Amber has always been the good girl. Having previously always settled for the golden boy, and still having failed to find true love, she is determined on discovering herself while taking a sabbatical, from her nursing career in Oregon, to travel abroad. On that journey she finds herself in Dublin, Ireland where she very nearly prematurely ends, not only her trip around the world, but almost her very own life when she happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Fortunately for Amber, before River even meets her, a split second decision, driven by his conscience, causes him to risk everything to save her. Just as quickly as he appears in her life, however, River disappears leaving Amber full of questions.
As fortune would have it, a glimpse of a memory allows Amber to find her savior, but the more she gets to know him, the more she begins to question just how much of a saint he is. Nonetheless, she can't help but feel their chemistry. Should she indulge that connection, or run away from the imminent danger that no doubt lurks near him? Moreover, with only a few days remaining in her stay in Dublin, just what kind of a future could they possibly have anyway?
Having previously highly enjoyed Burying Water and Becoming Rain, I was confident that I would enjoy the romance and danger tinged background that would no doubt be contained in Chasing River. Fortunately, I was not disappointed, but perhaps what I enjoyed the most, and which was completely unexpected, was the interesting view into Irish politics. Ms. Tucker does a fantastic job of not only laying out the sordid history between the Catholics and Protestants and horrible events that shaped Ireland's history, such as the potato famine, but she also provides an interesting glimpse into the current state of continuing political unrest.
All in all, Chasing River is an interesting addition to the Burying Water Series. Now I can't wait to read Surviving Ice which is scheduled for release later this year.

Chasing River de K. A. Tucker narra la historia de Amber ( hermana de Jesse, protagonista del primer libro ) y River.
Despues de que Becoming Rain me sorprendiera tan gratamente no veia la hora de poder iniciar esta tercera parte, es cierto que esperaba que esta novela tuviera mas accion ( al igual que la historia de Luke y Rain ) pero lo cierto es que la novela es tan buena y me dejo tan satisfecha que no soy capaz de encontrarle demasiados defectos.
Con la historia de amor me senti un poco dividida, por un lado me encanto que la relacion entre los protagonistas fuera tan refrescante y distinta pero por otro lado, eche en falta que todo se concretara un poco mas, quizas en un epilogo transcurrido años mas tarde pero no puedo negar que River y Amber fueron una pareja que me enamoro desde su primer encuentro.
Respecto a la saga me gusta que los libros son muy diferentes entre si, ya que asi no tengo la sensacion de que leo la misma historia una y otra vez, como en ocasiones me ocurre con alguna serie en la que las novelas son bastante similares.
En fin, unas novelas que recomiendo, son frescas, ligeras y muy atrapantes, cada una de ellas tiene algo que la hace memorable, ademas se leen muy rapido.

I am loving this series and the history buff in me was enthralled in the lessons learned on the IRA and Ireland's rich history. Can't recommend this romantic suspense series enough.

Great addition to the series, not my favourite but I still really enjoyed it. It was a tiny bit insta-lovey but not in annoying way, it actually kind of worked!
There were a few negatives for me, but to be honest these things only bothered me because I'm Irish. I think if I wasn't Irish I would have loved the story. To be frank, the authors research let her down. The Irish slang was just...well..wrong. And her summary of Irish history/politics was just that..a summary, I realise the author didn't have the room to go in to in depth detail but because I grew up here I felt like the Ireland she described was a bit shy of the truth. It's probably more to do with the fact that I don't like reading about anything to do with The Troubles in Ireland..However, I realise that people who live all over the world are fascinated by what happened here which is fair enough but I'd just rather not know haha.
Aside from these tiny nitpicking negatives, I did actually really enjoy the story, I love KA Tucker and I would read anything she writes! (Ben & Reese are still my fave couple though)
