Vampires of Boston #1

Bound in Blood

Rate this book
A one-night stand shouldn’t end in eternal vampire soul-bonding.
Yet, here we are.

Logan Grayson has never asked for much. A fresh start in a non-Texas city, a job that more or less pays the bills, and the occasional luxury of following through with a bad idea.

For six months, it’s worked just fine.

Then a hookup with two ridiculously hot strangers leaves him with a craving for blood, a sudden allergy to sunlight, and an unbreakable psychic bond with a pair of immortal twins who swear it was all a big misunderstanding.

Sure. That’s what all the boys say.

Now Logan’s stuck navigating a whole new set of rules, a trail of bodies conveniently missing their blood, and feelings he absolutely did not ask for. Mateo is sharp-tongued and impossible. Marco is too sweet to be safe. And both of them are fully convinced Logan belongs to them... forever.

After all, why settle for one night when you could have eternity?

Bound in Blood is a spicy (sorry, Mom) paranormal romance about found family, fated mates, and what happens when falling in love is the least of your problems.

Storey O'Neale

Storey O'Neale is as close to a vampire as one can get, living in Texas. By day (or night?), they work the graveyard shift at their tech job, own the best blackout curtains money can buy, and will give you a death glare if you ask them to do anything before 6 PM.

When not staring blankly at a Google Doc, wondering how long until their characters finally kiss, you’ll probably find them asleep or getting into trouble at a karaoke night they absolutely shouldn’t have attended. Storey writes steamy, supernatural romances that feature lots of angst, dumb decisions, and plenty of kissing.

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book! It is my very first ever MMM romance, and the first vampire book I’ve read since… Midnight Sun came out, I think.

If you’re looking for a cozy vampire read (with a sprinkle of mystery and blood) then this is a fantastic, endearing read!

I love how Storey was able to convey depth in their prose while also maintaining a casual vibe, making it easy to read without leaving out details. At first I did have trouble with Mateo and Marco because their names are similar, but their personalities are established pretty quickly and I was able to pick out the differences in their tone and dialogue easily. I LOVED the twin dynamic. Storey did a great job of portraying the shared mate aspect without it being weird at all. The connections between characters felt genuine and honest, a refreshing take on the romance genre today. I was desperately attached to Logan and his internal struggle to accept himself and his situation, mostly because I relate to it. I know firsthand how difficult it is to see yourself as valuable. That struck home for me especially hard. The supporting characters all had their own development, so they weren’t forgotten or neglected. I loved learning more about Alexei through context clues, his unwavering watchful and protective aura was especially endearing. He stood strong and supportive without inserting himself and causing more issues. We love a respectful king. Because there are flashbacks, there were period-based scenes that were tastefully portrayed. The mental health rep, emotional growth and establishment, enforcement and respect of boundaries was all well done and appreciated!

I excitedly look forward to Bound in Ash!

Solid debut. Loved Logan & the twins. Fun, familiar vampire lore. Appreciated learning about the twins’ history through flashbacks. Every in the present happens really fast, so wish time had slowed down a bit and there was more of a push/pull or drawn out courting. Decent spice. Cant wait for Vik and Alexei’s stories.

Read for:
- MMM Paranormal Romance
- Fated Mates
- Instant Love
- Found Family
- Murder Mystery

I like this book! It's a cute little something for in-between, when you don't want to have to think too much.

The dynamics between the characters were nice. Though, tbh, sometimes I wanted to shake some sense into Logan and his reactions to things. Everything happens in a very short time frame (around two weeks I think?). I would have loved if the story took more time to develop the characters and their relationships with each other. For example, instead of this instant love after Logan is turned into a vampire (which happens because Marco murders him basically!!) it would have been great to see their trust and relationship built over some months and develop naturally on top of the mating bond.
I also would have loved more insight into vampire lore and society.

All around it was a decent read, for, like another reviewer had said, an in-between read. It’s pretty clear it’s a debut novel but I love debut novels (and the marketing was baller enough—that artwork though—to draw me in!)

Also, who doesn’t love a good vampire story?

Onto the good, it was cutesy, and the relationship—as insta-love as it was—had good balance. It was a fun read. Light and easy to digest. The vampire lore could have been expanded but it wasn’t hard to imagine or follow along with what was given.

Onto the MEH. (These are just personal thoughts though and what I found annoying could be someone else’s jam!)
When reading each chapter the characters (vampires) would speak Italian, Russian, German, and right at the end of whatever they were saying was….. this—* hyperlinked to the translation.

Now don’t get me wrong, when reading a book where other characters are using different languages that I don’t know, it’s nice to have a translation for what each thing was. Having it at the end of every chapter was personally—not it for me. It drew me out of the book, a lot.

It gave fanfiction at AO3 (not hating because I live, breathe, and THRIVE on AO3) but in a published work on kindle, I figured it would be at the end of the book or something.

Side note—given how often other languages are used, and not just cutesy pet-names but full sentences, having it right there so I didn’t have to go to the end was nice. But jarring.

It’s a mixed-feeling for me….

Also…Logan rolls his eyes so much I’m surprised they are still in his head. For those that have read it, IYKYK.

All around though, it was a great debut novel and I can’t wait to read about August and Alexei! Although I am one hundred percent wanting Vik’s story and I’m sad his isn’t the next one.

Happy reading!

⭐⭐⭐/5

This was a solid story for a debut book (as someone mentioned I too got hooked by the art and it made so excited, which might have been my downfall in the end, because I put my expectations too high).

I enjoyed reading about these characters, I think they had solid backgrounds that made you care about them. I still wish we got to delve even deeper into their pasts (especially Logan's and his home life, I personally wanted more closure on that).

Their relationship was also cute, but again I would have liked more depth. This might also be just my problem, because the whole insta-lust/love probably doesn't work for me. I need to be convinced why the characters fell in love to each other to feel fully invested in their romance. I'm curious to see where the side characters stories will go, I really enjoyed them in this book.

Overall I would recommend this book, if you're looking for something light with tropes like vampires, insta-lust/love and found family.

Vampires, twins, love

4.5 rounding to 5

I loved this. Honestly I am always hunting for a good vampire book and this scratched the itch perfectly. I love MMM stories and the unique dynamic, and this was perfect. A little angst, a medium level spice (very well done), it was great. I loved the character backstories. I think I only wished Marco, Mateo, and Lucas talked with each other about their pasts. There was not a lot of interaction between the three that I would have liked to seen more of.
I would recommend this completely!! Worth the read!!
