It has been two years since Alice left Wonderland... Two years since she slayed the Jabberwockey. Two years since she broke the Hatter's heart. Now, he has given up hoping that his Other Half even exists. Determined to live his final days without love, he numbly lives in the world that he created. But, when a strange girl lands in his front yard, claiming to be the granddaughter of the girl that haunts his dreams at night, will he finally open up his heart to true love?
It has been eighty years since Samantha Kinglsey's grandmother claimed to have went to Wonderland... She never believed her deranged grandmother's tales, until she receives a ticket for admission to Wonderland. And falling through a hole in the floor at the local under- twenty-one club wasn't what she was expecting. When she lands in a world that she only believed existed in books, and in the yard of a man that she thought was a figment of imagination, will she finally believe that not everything is as it seems?
I really enjoyed the plot idea, but I felt it could have used a lot more development. Soul mate or not, there was no lead up to the romance between Hatter and Sam. And the typos just made it harder to bare. There was one on almost every page. I really wanted to like this book because I love Alice in Wonderland, but I just couldn't. There wasn't enough plot and the reader shouldn't have decipher typos in a published book
Please don't read this book if writing in correct sentence structure means much, but definitely do not read it if you have read any of the "Bad Prince or Princess" books are on your reading list. The first book in that series is the Hatter's tale and it is entirely too similar, even the relation the original "Alice" and both writers forgetting how many generations as they were writing. I don't like to give a bad review, but I am being nice with the two stars.
I would have given this a 4 or 5 star, because the story itself was very interesting and captivating. However, this book should be heavily re-edited for the high volume of spelling and grammatical errors.
If it were possible i think this book about the Hatter is even better than the classic that introduced him into our world although i do thank Lewis Carroll for the Mad Hatter. He was more fully developed in this book and the author did justice to the original characterization and so much more. It was sad at times and it was beautiful at times it was a Wonderland version of a Greek Comedy and it was stupendous! Definitely a Chris and Ca two thumbs up!
This book is spectacular and I wasn’t able to put it down. Its all about The Mad Hatter and Samantha Kingsley, two very different people living in completely different worlds. Once Sam accidentally finds her way to Wonderland she is told she is The Mad Hatters otherhalf (soulmate) but there’s a catch – they only have two months to fall in love with each other otherwise The Mad Hatter disappears. Within this compelling tale Sam gets sent back home and is then tricked into returning to Wonderland as she desperately longs for the man she has fallen in love with, only to get captured by a villain out for revenge. Hatter is the only person who can help her now. Will he be able to save Sam and in return can Sam save the Hatter from the madness within himself? Or will Wonderland as they know it become darkness forevermore…?
I like how Rebecca Davis has taken a well known fairytale and made it into something completely different yet still keeping its magical twist. It’s modern but it still has all the mad quirks from the Alice in Wonderland story, it’s easy to read and you feel like you become part of this book yourself. The Mad Hatter is one of my favourite characters of all time and it’s nice to see him get the life he deserved. I enjoyed the fact that Rebecca Davis put other characters from different fairytales in there and it’s a very enjoyable, easy read that I highly recommend. I love the way Rebecca wrote the chapters giving you different points of view from a number of characters rather than just focusing on one character’s side of the story. It really is a beautiful tale and I can’t wait to read more of her books in the future. She is very talented and this book is bound to make you a big fan.
This is basically a romance novel. The Hatter is still in Wonderland. Wolfsbane (a werewolf), Peter Pan, the Huntsman and Leopold (a mouse) are his friends. Reference is made to other fairy tale stories such as Snow White.
There are six queens in Wonderland and one of them, Vanessa, is really, really evil.
The “real” Alice had left Wonderland years ago.
It seems that many (if not all) the beings there are searching for their 'other half,' a person which will complete them and let them live happily ever after. The problem is that if the Hatter does not find his 'other half' then his story will fade out and he will cease to exist (a very interesting concept.)
Enter Sam, a descendant of the 'real' Alice. She ends up in Wonderland no thanks to the Cheshire Cat who is a really nasty person himself. Sam is Hatter's other half but before anything can be done about that she's kidnapped. Hatter and his friends must find her before Hatter's story runs out and he and his story are gone forever.
It's really a very nicely done story and a good follow-up to the original Alice in Wonderland story. There is one major problem, though,.
No spell checker was used on the story. There are numerous spelling mistakes including some that are so bad you actually end up laughing aloud at them. This makes it somewhat difficult to read the story and get involved in it.
First, I'd like to say that I really liked the concept and idea behind this telling of the Mad Hatter. I think there was a good idea for a story featuring Wonderland, all created from Hatter's mind, and him trying to find his Other Half, who appears in the form of Sam. The problem I ran into was that the story felt it was from point A to point C, with no real explanations in between. The villain of piece is brought in late to the story, with no build up to their motivations. The love story seems to occur quite quickly, also with no real build up to the characters' falling for each other. Lastly, there are lots of editing mistakes, with misspelled words and incorrect words being used. I wanted to love this story, and again, the concept was intriguing, but on the whole, the story did not work for me.
The book had it's moments of being wonderful. I think the typos got me off guard for most of it. I understand this is Rebecca's first book,(if I am not mistaken), and errors do happen. The story was choppy, almost like it was missing key points in the storyline. Still I couldn't put the book down and had to finish it. Even though at times I had to re-read parts to piece things together or read ahead. It was a quick and good read, when you weed through the miss prints. With that said I am more then likely going to read her second book when it comes out.
This book was very frustrating for me. I really liked the idea of the story, it had great bones, but there was no meat on them. There is no development of the characters or the plot. One minute Sam is being pushed down a hole by some weirdo with purple hair the next she is in Wonderland, madly in love with Hatter, and with no desire to go home what so ever? I mean really? I won't get started on the editing, or shall I say, lack of editing. So many typos it was hard to read. I will not likely read the next but, I just wasn't left want more.
It was enticing and fun and the way it was put together was fantastic. In saying that, their were so many type-o's that a few times it was hard to follow along unless I read and re-read it to decipher the essence of the particular sentence or phrase. Lastly I'd like to say Bravo to what I I believe is a great book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope to read many more of your books!
I really wanted to like this book. I love Alice in Wonderland and I liked the idea of this book. I had a hard time looking past all of the grammatical and spelling errors. I found I was not able to completely connect with the characters. Again, great idea, but it could have been done better.
I love how they tod a story about the mad hatter finding his true love. It was a heartfelt story about about how the hatter fell head over heels for Samantha Kingsley.
